Food stall is located inside New York Food Court (3-4 mins away) from Sky View Mall. D.T. Restaurant has a white storefront on the right side when entering the food hall. Plenty of seating in the communal area. Just grab yourself a table to sit down, although you might've to wipe your table & seats down with a napkin. Restrooms are in the back.
Usually no line when you go place an order at the front counter. Staff speaks and understands Mandarin, Cantonese, and English. Staff is patient, helpful, & friendly if you want to ask about the menu. They accept cash and card for forms of payment. You'll get a receipt and a buzzer to let you know that the food is ready.
Food takes about 15-20 mins to make as everything starts getting prepared and cooked when it's freshly made to order. If you're eating in, the staff puts the food in a stainless steel dish to keep it hot throughout your meal. Otherwise, takeout orders are stored in sturdy rectangular beige-colored containers to prevent leakage.
I like that they've been changing their dish ware for both dine-in & to-go orders. I remembered that back then no matter if you have to go/to stay orders, they used to put everything in flimsy aluminum containers 10 months ago. Glad to see that they've finally decided to change the tableware for good. I see that they've now added a cute logo of 2 cartoon characters holding utensils in their little hands.
Anyway, enough about everything else and back to the delicious food. Could hardly finish it imo because I thought I could finish it since it didn't look that much to me at first. Probably about 1-2 person kind of generous portion. Ordered the Creamy Chicken Steak Over Rice Platter. Paid an extra $3 for adding cheese to the dish. This part must've been new, don't remember it 10 months ago.
The cheese is really long and stringy when digging my fork into the cheesy part of the surface. Good for a cheese pull pic or video on social media. Since the food is kept in the stainless steel dish, it has remained hot throughout the entire time...even for slower eaters like me. Cheese is crispy around the edges and melty soft in the middle. Fried rice is found underneath plus there're many big strips of tender chicken too.
There're 4 types of sauces that customers can choose for their baked cheese rice platter dishes:
1) Black Pepper Sauce
2) Curry Sauce
3) Tomato Sauce
4) White Sauce (Béchamel Sauce)
A drink also comes with ordering the Baked Cheese Dishes, so I've chosen the Milk Tea over Lemon Tea as the drink choice. Thought the iced milk tea is pretty refreshing on a humid day. It's basically just sweetened milk tea but sometimes the simplest thing is the best.
