Great local takeout and huge portions. i was a little shell shocked originally by the prices considering the casual atmosphere but then the portions came out and I changed my mind. it's actually a great deal for the price because the portions are so huge, more family style! You can see in the photos I sent to my fiancé I even put my fans as reference I couldn't believe the portions. Everyone who works there is always so nice and the pasta is nice and fresh which i find lacking from local comp.

Came here on a Friday to celebrate my dads 70th birthday. The staff here is always friendly and welcoming. I've been coming here for years and constantly order catering from them. The food is always fresh and delicious. There has not been one dish where I can say I didn't like it. Everything is so delicious. As soon as we were seated, our server brought out their delicious focaccia bread. For starters, we ordered fried calamari, mozzarella sticks, and fried shrimp. The calamari was fried perfectly, nice and crispy. The kids enjoyed their mozzarella sticks. The fried shrimp were delicious. I would have like to see a tartar sauce option for the shrimp, but other than that, a squeeze of lemon is just right on the shrimp. For our main entrees we ordered chicken rollatini with a side of penne a la vodka, Frutti di Mare in red sauce, Pesto with grilled chicken, Penne a la vodka with grilled chicken, chicken parmigiana, side of grilled chicken Caesar salad and grilled octopus from the specialty menu. Everything was delicious. The octopus was cooked to perfection. It was nice and tender bursting with flavors. For dessert, we ordered ice cream and the chocolate mousse cake. The cake is delicious. Overall, we had a really nice time with delicious food and amazing staff. There is something on the menu for everyone to try. Thank you, Da Nonna Rosa, for having us.

    Pesto Pasta Dinner

On a quiet hilly avenue of Park Slope Brooklyn resides this beautiful quaint little Italian eatery, dishing out some of the most wholesome, delicious cooking in the neighborhood. I had been eyeing this place for a while, so when my date a number of weeks ago asked - where would you like to go? I couldn't think of a better opportunity to sample what's been on my radar. I will say this review is for their pesto pasta - it is creamy, and it is dreamy. I love the depth of the sauce, I love the little bites of whole pine-nuts. I love how the sauce glues on to the pasta and every crevice. I love the sauce to pasta ratio because as a pesto enthusiast nothing is more disappointing than not enough green goodness coating your pasta. This is hands down one of my favorite pesto pasta dishes, and I frequently order it on delivery too! Adding broccoli rabe or grilled chicken only elevates this amazing dish. Oh and if you get the chance, get it with the house-made fettuccine!! You will not regret it.

Amazing food and service! We ordered the Frutti De Mare and the Chicken Parm with roasted eggplants. The portions here were huge and everything was delicious. The seafood in the Frutti De Mare was substantial and extremely fresh. Will definitely be back to try the extensive menu! Super comforting Italian cuisine.

    Burnt pizza

I asked the very nice staff for pizza not to be burnt on edges and overcooked. Unfortunately, $30.00 later and arriving home, it was just that. I was disappointed but the volume of business tells me people enjoy it. I gave it 2 Stars because generous on mushrooms and nice people.

This was the pizza place my friend said I must try when coming to NY. And we all know what everyone says about NY pizza! The service here was absolutely amazing. They were very helpful when trying to figure out which pizzas to order and try. They also made the pizzas fresh in about 10 minutes. The pizzas were amazing! We ordered a Margherita and Meat Lovers pizza. Definitely different than what I've had in California. The sauce is something else (in a great tasty way!) My friend also wanted to order the meat lovers pizza. Now, I'm not usually a fan of pizza with tons of meat toppings but I wanted to try it out of curiosity and I'm so glad I did because it was probably the best meat lovers pizza I have ever had. There was something about the meat toppings that had such a great flavor. It was absolutely delicious. This experience is one to put into the books!

Rigatoni alla Pasta Vodka Classico Dinner with Side of Chicken Cutlet and side of broccoli
    Akela J.

Ill start by saying that I cant speak on the drinks or ambiance of this place because I ordered takeout and did not dine in. Typically when you dine in the hospitality and service is a big factor in your overall experience. That being said, takeout or not the food was very very unpleasant. I ordered the vodka rigatoni with chicken cutlet, sautéed broccoli, and garlic knots. Nothing and I mean nothing, had flavor. Ok the garlic knots were just ok but honestly I did not taste any garlic, if anything it was a cool piece of warm bread. But the biggest disappoint was the pasta, I mean completely unseasoned no real flavor, not even a tomato red sauce flavor just nothing. The chicken cutlet was probably even worst, not only was it hard but it didn't have any taste, not even salt just super disappointing . The side of broccoli may have been the biggest waste of money, $12 and it was stale with a slightly sour taste, which is probably the only flavor I got from it anyway, where was the garlic??? Just overall disappointing, I only hope that I got a bad batch because this place has great reviews so maybe this was an off day.....

This should be a four star review. Da Nonna Rosa has been my go-to pizza delivery place in the ~ 10 years I've lived in South Slope and Windsor Terrace and it probably will remain so. The pizzas are terrific - thin and delicious crust, excellent and well distributed toppings, and generally quick delivery times (although they conveniently tend to "not have my apartment number," and make me come downstairs even when I order via Seamless, which is annoying when I'm tipping 20% plus. But whatever.) They're a little pricier than most in the neighborhood, but the pizza has always been worth it to me. I've branched out beyond pizza occasionally and have enjoyed their heroes (eggplant parm is second only to Russo's in the hood) and pastas are also yummy and generously sized. However, last time I ordered a side of broccoli with garlic and oil to go with my pizza Arrabiata (which was excellent, per usual) and while I enjoyed the well cooked and delicious broccoli, once I'd finished eating I noticed a shard of GLASS at the bottom of the empty container. Absolutely unacceptable. I'm taking a break for now but will inevitably be back because they are the best for this style of pizza in the neighborhood, but I'll be 100% sticking to pizza only from now on.

This place does get busy so recommend making reservations if you can. They have a pretty nice wine list to choose from along with different cocktail options. From the start, the food was delicious starting with the house bread which was warm and soft but still felt light. For dinner, I ordered the special for the night which was cacio pepe ravioli, while my husband got the tagliatelle verdi con ragu. Both of our pasta dishes felt extremely fresh. The ravioli was unlike anything Ive had before, with flavorful cacio pepe filling and a butter sauce with pancetta complementing the flavor. The tagliatelle was also delicious in a more ragu centric way, still offering a good balance of flavor. Both dishes were pretty filling and so neither of us could finish it. We ended the night with cannolis, which was a pleasant surprise to find 3 came in 1 order. One side is pistachio while the other had a coco dusting. These were again delicious but pretty filling and sweet so we could only eat one. The staff here was also very friendly and service was quick with food coming out much faster than I expected. Overall I would come back and try even more on their menu.

The bartender was quite friendly, and made me a Piccante (spicy tequila/lime/pineapple situation, with a tajin rim) that was solid. My wife wasn't too hungry, so we only ordered a couple items to share. The Insalata Marzamemi (quinoa, avocado, greens, seared tuna and more), and the ossobuco agnolotti. They brought us some complimentary rosemary bread and oil to dip it. I'm not one to look free bread in the mouth (I think that's the saying), but it was not my favorite bread service. Both the bread and the oil needed salt. But it was warm, and I appreciated the gesture. The salad and pasta were far better. Both were surprisingly large portions for the price (this is NYC in 2026), and paired quite well together. The salad was piled high with fresh ingredients, and there was a nice sear on the tuna. It was only a couple of dollars more than the Greek salad, and a steal. The ossobuco agnolotti with its pecorino fondue and veal sauce was rich, and quite filling. There were at least a 15 of the filled pasta pockets, and well worth the price. All in all, a solid stop for some good portions of Italian food at a good price.

I can't say enough great things about the decor the ambience and imagining all of the past goings on in this restaurant. It's been watching over Brooklyn for well over 100 years now! That in itself is a Herculean feat! From what I was told it was very popular with the mob as they say... And that's why the kitchen which is at the very back of the restaurant has full glass windows so that you can see exactly what's going on in there. I guess some of these mob guys were paranoid and rightly so consider considering their history. I arrived with my friend on a Wednesday evening about 6 PM and there were some scattered tables but by 7 PM it was mobbed (pun intended ) in there!! our waiter was affable and patient and a quite enjoyable fellow. As a sidenote, you will not find any female servers they are all male which l lends to the old school vibe in my opinion. My friend ordered the lamb chops with broccoli Rabe. He enjoyed them but did mention that though they had great flavor one of them was slightly tough... It happens... My meal was pasta with Bolognese sauce with a dollop of fresh ricotta on top. Rating: 3.5/5 I…read morediscovered this restaurant on Instagram as one of the top Italian restaurants in NYC, so I decided to try it. It appeared to be family-owned in Williamsburg and consistently drew a large crowd throughout the day and night. Upon entering, I noticed the restaurant was keen to maximize seating, with diners placed very close to one another. The restaurant appeared to have a very old-school vibe; maybe that was the theme they were going for? The food ordered was: 1. Calamari - They weren't overly fried or coated with breading. Tender, and not rough. Flavorful enough; no sauce was needed (although it was included). A good appetizer. 2. Rigatoni with vodka sauce - Maybe it's my taste buds, but I thought the sauce lacked seasoning and flavor overall. The pasta was cooked well (al dente), but the lack of flavor from the sauce ruined the dish. I was really excited about this dish! 3. Cavatelli with Bolognese Sauce - I've had bolognese sauce before, & this dish was just weird. It felt like they just did it within 5 minutes of cooking time, & it was something you could've just made at home yourself with a jar of Prego sauce. It also lacked seasoning. 4. Chicken Parmigiana - I'm a huge chicken parmigiana fan, and I feel like it's always a must if you eat at any Italian restaurant. This dish was well seasoned, not overly fried, not heavily covered with cheese, and smothered in a good amount of sauce. The chicken wasn't dry either; it was tender. Weird part was it was served with a side of string beans & potatoes, not pasta. This was one of the best dishes of the night. 5. Chicken Marsala - Just like the chicken parmigiana, the chicken was tender & wasn't dry. It's easy to overcook chicken becoming dry, but the two chicken dishes weren't. Very flavorful & a good amount of mushrooms added for garnish. Same with the chicken parm, string beans & potato's as a side and not pasta. 6. Linguine with White Clam Sauce - I'm allergic to shellfish, so I did not try this dish, but my table said it was good. Overall, I thought the food would've been better. The pricing to food portion ratio did not correlate. It's a little on the pricey side for the amount of food you'd get, but maybe it's because of the rent since it is Williamsburg? Another thing, just like another reviewer mentioned, I felt my table was rushed out the door. We weren't even finished eating and we could feel they were eyeing the table (I was with a large party). The waiter who served my table, whose name I didn't catch, was friendly and polite though. Anyways, this is my take on this restaurant. Maybe this is how old school Italian restaurants are supposed to be & in terms of food too. Tip: Reservation recommended for dining in
