Stopped by for a bite to eat on a Monday night. I had the dumplings and bulgogi rib-eye. This was very mediocre Korean food. My rib-eye tasted soggy and I had to ask for a rice refill multiple times. I've had authentic Korean food before so maybe I am being too hard on Dae Gee, but I likely won't come here again. All you can eat is worth it if you have the appetite. The spare rib was my favorite but unfortunately it's the only meat you can't keep reordering. The spicy pork was good and I think it was the other pork I liked too. We waited an hour for a table on a Saturday night so it's definitely busy for dinner. The sides are great too, fish cakes and pickled cucumbers bring my favorite to reorder. Those are all unlimited. It's funny they added potato salad, I imagine that isn't usually on a KBBQ menu. This isn't your typical AYCE Korean BBQ. They only have 5 types of meat to choose from. They usually just bring out a whole plate of all 5 items at once unless you requested something differently. During your first round, you are able to get the short ribs which is delicious. They give you two of them. For the other meats, I definitely think it could use a little more flavor especially the chicken. The spicy pork is extremely spicy. If you are coming from out of state (like California), you might be disappointed. Their sides were typical of a Korean BBQ place but very small. I think they only gave like 5 pieces of radish lol and 4 pieces of fish tofu. The mash potatoes were very mushy. Also, at this location, there are only 5 tables with grills but they do offer to cook the meat for you due to the limited grills. Overall, the service was okay. At first, the waiter just kind of threw the menus on the tables and walked away to another table. It was very confusing because we weren't even close to that table yet before she walked away. Food quality was okay. Maybe it's reference but i don't like the bulgogi sauce that much. Not as many options for meats either. I am from Dallas, TX, so my standard might be higher for this place. As for service, it was okay. They were kinda slow. The servers would give you very little food for everything on the first round, then you would ask for more of the ones you like. I came because i saw that they were on Feature food tv show back in 2015. Maybe back then korean bbq grill was new, but its pretty common now, specially in Dallas. They have a parking lot, the staff was nice although not the most helpful. You know someone who smiles and does what people ask of them but doesn't actually initiate doing anything themselves, yeah. The meal I had here was fairly uncomfortable physically because we never received a water refill and the bibimbap was so dry and devoid of flavor. I was too focused on trying to make it taste decent I forgot to ask for water. It would be better if this was more like a real Korean restaurant with plastic carafes of water on every table and a button guests can just press to alert when they need something. The seafood pancake and banchan were good and tasted right with traditional Korean flavors. The octopus inside was tender and not very chewy. I'd come back to try all you can BBQ only perhaps. Once a place has over 150 reviews I find that my personal rating usually doesn't differ from the public's rating by more than a 1/2 star. So that's really good news about YELP: At least with respect to restaurants it seems pretty darn reliable. With respect to Dae Gee the public has nailed it perfectly. It really is a 3.5 kinda place. Oh my gosh, this place was incredible. K, had an errand down on Broadway right at lunch and decided to try out Dae Gee. Soooo glad I did. First, they prepped their food very carefully in these tiny to go containers, for take out. We did eat the appetizer dumplings there: those chicken dumplings were perfect: fried, yet not oversaturated in oil, and served with beautiful presentation. They were delicious! So I'm from Vegas and we have a ton of Korean bbq so I'm spoiled with my barbecue so when my cousin picked this place, I would rate this place average. We weren't aware they had AYCE at this place so when we got here we decided to try it. Ended up only having 5 choices of meat for AYCE and no choice of seafood or anything else which sucks because for $32 a person, you'd expect more. (At least in Vegas you get A ton more) Our first server who sat us kinda abandon us and did a poor job throughout our meal and so another girl stepped in to help and she was great but I felt bad for her having 3 tables outside and working her butt off. Banchan (side dishes served in metal bowls) were OK (more pickled dishes than I am used to) but kimchi was def good yet not necessarily that fresh. I had been craving Korean bbq and was excited to discover one near my apartment. My parents came in town to visit and I decided to treat them to their first Korean bbq experience. The Bulgogi was sooo good! Would have eaten just that for my entire meal. The Korean spare ribs were also so flavorful. The all you can eat comes with a variety of sides. Tl;Dr: I went here because I read reviews of people saying it was pretty decent. I personally did not enjoy the food and thought it was nowhere near what I expect from KBBQ. The service and ambiance are fine. Food: I had the dinner unlimited BBQ option, which included six types of meats: galbee (ribs), samgyeopsal (pork belly), pork, chicken, and beef bulgogi, chadol (brisket). The marinated meats (bulgogi variations) are smothered in a marinade that's so thick that you can barely taste the meats. The pork belly is thin slices of probably the worst cut I've had in terms of pork belly--it was around 90% fat and 10% meat. The chadol is incredibly dry relative to what you'd get at a regular KBBQ place, but is probably what I would say is the best out of all the meat options. The galbee is so singularly sweet that it tasted like candy to me. I also ordered the kimchi jjigae (stew), which was so thick that the soup was viscous and not really what you'd expect from kimchi jjigae. Flavor-wise, it seemed to be an overwhelming amount of pepper flakes, with no nuance whatsoever of other ingredients. Ambiance: Lots of tables nearby in a small space, so it's quite loud as you might expect from any other KBBQ place. I thought it was typical. Service: I thought service was fine and I received what I asked for pretty quickly. However, what I thought was weird was the servers seemed to cut and prepare the meat for a lot of the other tables, while neglecting mine and I wasn't sure why that was the case. read more

I've learned to set expectations accordingly for Denver in order to not be too disappointed. This place wasn't the best, but it also isn't the worst. If you are craving Korea BBQ I'd give this place a shot. Don't be a snob or overly critical about it if you've had amazing KBBQ experiences. It's worth it if you're hungry for sure! I got the buffet. I have to say the service here was top notch amazing! I've never had such attentive service while eating Korean BBQ before. If you're new they do a great job at explaining how long it takes to cook everything and what to do. If you're new to the KBBQ buffet scene they give you one of every meat so you get to try everything out before ordering more food. The biggest bummer for me was that they only give you one Galbi and charge you and extra 10 more dollars if you want it unlimited. That was a new concept for me. The Galbi was okay at best, so I actually didn't end up too devastated. My favorite was the spicy pork. It cooked pretty fast and had a nice flavor to it. We were visiting Colorado for skiing, d'uh, and the entire crew was hangry for KBBQ! So, did a quick Yelp search for it and within 5 miles, landed here. Now parking was interesting with a 15-passenger van, which most of you won't be driving, but we ended up with street parking a block away. Their parking lot is shared and a bit tight, so be prepared for that. We arrived for pre-dinner, so it was wide open and worked out since we had 14 people (and 3 little kids). We got a corner of the place to our self and a few staff members to contain the crazy. Now we did the all you can eat and were situated at two different cook tops, the good ones with the fire, yeah??? We hit the usual items, beef, pork belly, chicken, brisket, lots of veggies and plenty of sides. We also got dumplings (Goon Mandoo) and fried chicken wings (Dak Nalgae). So...we were a bit disappointed with the sliced beef, as it had the discoloration of being in the freezer way too long (def lost a star there for freshness). The pork in their Dae Gee sauce was good, but wayyy too much sauce for the marinate; basically overpowered everything (need a lot more rice). Now, I'm not saying it wasn't good, but definitely could of cut down on the amount of marinate used to balance flavors and palate. The veggies were half fresh and half 'been in the fridge for too many days'; as it was wrinkly from not being covered properly. I came in yesterday with my friends and opted for AYCE K-BBQ. They only had 5 tables with grills and all 5 were occupied, so we chose to have them cook the meat for us. WORST. MISTAKE. EVER. It was (we think) either the chicken or pork bulgogi but I got food poisoning and threw up (ew, TMI, I know) twice on my way back to California. If you're from California, just don't bother eating asian food in Colorado. And ESPECIALLY don't eat K-BBQ here. $28 for five meat options, no rice paper, no radish paper, and FOOD POISONING. When we finally got our bill our server didn't even give us the check, we had to again ask another server for our bill but our server made sure to put a 20% tip on my tab without my authorization. I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews for restaurants. I work in the industry and I love eating out at most places. I'm leaving this review because I don't want anyone going to have the same experience I did: I brought my sister here who has never been to a Korean BBQ. She was excited to try and of course we were going to do the full experience - so we sat at a grill table. A couple of things to know before I explain our experience: 1) The short rib is only available as part of the unlimited selection if you pay for the dinner portion. ($28) 2) You can't get the short rib to cook yourself unless you pay for unlimited ($26) 3) The lunch portion is $15 and comes pre prepared. Well I really wanted the short rib and my sister really wanted the unlimited selection to try everything. So I asked the waitress if we could do 1 unlimited for her and if I could just do the short rib. She says yes. I asked her twice more to clarify because I had a feeling that unlimited BBQ had to be for the table, she answers twice more that it's fine. Well even though she told me that the short rib lunch portion is pre prepared, everything comes out raw and on the same plate. That's fine (although raw chicken shouldn't be plated with red meats). My sister and I cook up everything and share. We never ordered more of any of the meats or sides even though she had the "unlimited". When the bill came, we were charged for TWO unlimited lunches ($22ea) AND the short ribs. I questioned the waitress and she told me that since I ate some of the unlimited lunch that I had to be charged as well. I then asked to speak to a manager, who said the same, and he then contacted the GM who also enforced the same rule. We ended up getting charged an extra $22 for the meal because I ate some of my sister's food, even though we never ordered a second round of it. Furthermore, we were also told that it's not their policy to allow tables to do the unlimited unless everyone is doing it. So the server should have never agreed in the first place and I don't see why she isn't paying $22 for her mistake instead of me? All around its BS and the general manager obviously doesn't care about repeat business. I left the place feeling scammed and even though the food is delicious and the service was fine, I have a bitter taste in my mouth and it will be hard for me to want to return. I understand policy if it's clearly explained, but when I clearly ask for the rules ahead of time and I'm told something completely different than what I'm charged for - that ruins the experience completely. read more

Man, what a sad disappointment. I can see why my fellow Koreans don't come here to eat but as I'm new in town i thought I'd give it a try. Side dishes were so lacking in taste, INCLUDING the kimchi. I don't like their use of these sugar-filled sauces since that's not what a Korean would eat their barbecue with. Im a purist so I like my meat with just simply sesame oil and ssamjang. We had to ask for that after we realized they won't just bring it out. Also did you see the meat??? I thought it would be hard to f-up meat...i was THOROUGHLY mistaken. The marinated meats were WAY too sweet... definitely catering to the American taste if you ask me. Also the brisket were cut but solid frozen together which pissed me off since that's very delicate cut that needs to me layed out one by one. Not 8 at a time. Had a better experience here than the location south of Cherry Creek. Pretty decent deal for lunch - lunch is $18 for AYCE (no shortribs), and dinner is $24 that only serves the shortribs once. I did try the shortrib during dinner, don't think it's worth splurging the extra $10 for unlimited shortribs. I had a decent meal here, it's hard to go wrong with unlimited korean BBQ. The sides here have a lot of variety and my friends enjoyed most of them! Nothing super unique about this place, and I'm not sure what the asian food scene is like in Denver, but again pretty ok. I've definitely had better in places like LA, and I've heard (based on yelp) that Denver has more authentic korean BBQ at other restaurants, so I'll probably be trying those other places. Good intro to Korean BBQ at the very least, all of my friends who's never had it before/haven't had a lot of experience really liked it. Dae Gee is well known for being on Diners Drive Ins and Dives and that has given this restaurant a boost and they have opened up multiple restaurants in the metro area. With that being said, this restaurant is not the best Korean restaurant in the area. It is quite plain and not as diverse of a menu as a traditional Korean restaurant and the prices here are quite high for many of the common Korean food items. I did think the bibimpap here was good but I think other than that , the food was just ok. The service also wasn't that great and the waiter wasn't attentive until the check came because they seem to just want to charge us and get us out. I don't think I'll be back but it was good to try somewhere different read more

I will never return to this location. I have been coming here every week for a few months- I loved it! All my experience were great until today. As me and my date began to eat, I'm a gay man and felt the server was discriminatory and very rude. We just finished our first few plates and asked this younger male waiter for more of one of the meats, I asked smiling, excitedly. He said "No, we won't do that for you." I asked why, he replied "Last time you wasted a lot of food so I'm not doing it" I was taken aback! 1) I NEVER wasted food when I come here, and even if a customer did- for them to try to shame their customers or control them based on them leaving a little meat after spending near $100 for two people for uncooked meat that we cook ourselves, is absolutely ridiculous! 2) I would be more than willing to pay extra for any left over meats! I have money, I own a Restaurant too- and if they simply asked I'd be more than happy to pay for whatever they believe I ate. 3) No one else in the store received this kind of treatment. I spend $100 there every week, so this just cost your company around $4800 a year just from my business. 4) I always tip well and even gave them an extra $30 one night because the girl waiter was so friendly and nice! I sure hope this man is not a relative of the owner or high up in this business, he needs to be let go. You've lost my business- I hope he won't cost your company more in the future.
