On Sunday Funday I went here with my big bro! Yaay! There was a brief wait when we got in, and it was totally worth it. This is definitely an all you can eat buffet and if you are against buffets, you are just plain cray. Just kidding! You are not alone, sometimes they can be a little sketchy right? Not Teppanyaki. It sort of reminds me of The Journey (on a smaller scale of grandiosity) by blending Asian and American fair and letting you have at it like there's no tomorrow. I love the fact that they have a station that can make personal stir-fry. They also have a sushi station that is pretty comparable to a sushi bar. Chatting with other patrons, as I usually do, I learned that there's an actual training program just to work at an Asian buffet! Awesome! My brother and I had just about everything and my one gripe is the fried fish is a little too soft from the steam table. You can get everything from Mac and cheese to "crayfish" "craw dads" what do we call them here in Indiana? I recommend going during the lunch hour, as dinner is a little pricey and tip tip tip! The staff is quiet, and busy so ask for two waters or sodas instead of one... Really great food selection. Lots of fresh sushi, hibachi where you pick your own ingredients, fried and fresh food selection, ice cream, fresh food, etc. They have the best/freshest buffet sushi I've ever had and the fish is also delicious. There's a good mix of American, Chinese, Japanese and seafood. The wait staff will quickly pick up your plate and is great about refills (Pepsi products). I would have given 5 stars but the girl at the checkout desk was very rude. I went on a Sunday. Don't go on a Sunday. Jeez, I've never had to wait for a seat at a buffet before. It wasn't a long wait for one person, but I was surprised. Staff seemed frazzled, but were friendly and fairly prompt (considering how busy it was.) The place is pretty big, and there is a decent selection, including some sushi and a grill. Buffet was about average. They have a large selection of different types of food including a fresh fruit bar and ice-cream bar. The best thing they have going for them is the hibachi grill. You can select different types of meat and veggies, rice or noodles and they cook it fresh right in front of you. It was delicious. All in all my hubby and I will be back and next time we will bring the kids. The prices are more than reasonable with lunch at about $7 and dinner at $10. read more

Teppanyaki Grill is not anything eye catching on the ways of decor. Its lay out look about what you would expect from an Asian American buffet. The sushi was pretty good. Alot of the food is well prepared but I could tell that most of it is the same stuff that you could get in bulk from GFS. Not that GFS pot stickers arn't good, they are. Most of these buffets have THAT ONE item that they are known for, Saddle I didn't see anything here that I haven't seen before. If I hade to point out one thing for being the best here... I think it would be the guy at the hibachi grill. He was quite and precise with everything he did. All in all Teppanyaki Buffet is average overall but not bad for the price and selection. This was my first visit to the buffet and I was impressed at the food selection. There were the normal heated trays of crab rangoon, mussels, green beans, rice, sweet & sour chicken, and so on. But what really got me excited was their sushi bar and steak grill. Delectable. For my final tastings, I was pleasantly surprised that there was 3-4 tables of desserts; something for everyone, from fruit to cookies & macaroons to ice cream. And if someone comes along that is on the picky side, there are generic American items as well, such as pizza, mozzarella sticks, etc. Don't want to dine in? They sell food by the pound. This is the best buffet I have ever been to on the east side of town! as soon as you walk in they have a beautiful large picture frame on the wall of a japanese wood sculpture of trees and animals almost l;ike a little village, with 2 big japanese soldier statues one on each side of the frame. after u get all the way in there are very nice hosts waiting to seat you after being seated you should make your first stop at the very back wall there is a grill where theres a little hispanic guy waiting to take your plate of veggies and raw meat or seafood. hes so cool to watch cuz boy that man could do some pretty cool tricks while grilling your food right in front of you! next to the grill is a mini sushi bar where the sushi is made fresh right there and very deeeee-lish as well! i want to say there is at least 2 rows of maybe 8 or 9 different buffets filled with everything from bacon wrapped crab, fried shrimp, beef n broccolli to ice cream and watermelons!!!! the whole place is lit up with these cool red and blue neon lights and the chandeliers are unbeliveable! ok ok ok now enuff readin this!!! go try it out and let me know how you like it!!!!! love it! p.s. price is sooo worth it and very very reasonable! for my hubby, my 3 yr old and i at lunch time costed about 15 bucks and dinner was about 25. for all 3 of us including drinks! read more

My "no frills" go-to on the east side when I want to be a complete glutton and not have to worry about how I look or how much I eat. Both locations are HUGE with an additional banquet room hidden off to the side. Because of the constant foot traffic, the place is a bit worn down and it shows. While the chandeliers and stained glass make an attempt at a certain aesthetic, Teppanyaki is sort of a dingy place. But that doesn't keep me from occasionally stuffing my face here. The buffet boasts a decent selection of fresh fruits and vegetables, a plethora of mediocre Asian cuisine, a Hibachi grill and sushi bar, and classic American selections such as macaroni and cheese and french fries (especially pleasing for children and adults with the palette of a five year-old). The meat tends to err on the side of dry or fatty, and who knows if those crawfish are really safe to eat or not, but I know what I'm getting into when I come here. The vegetables have always been on par, and empty trays seem to be filled with haste. I am a creature of habit and tend to stick to certain staples when I dine here. For the record, I am absolutely obsessed with the "krab with a k" hot dish that comes smothered in mayonnaise and cheese. Yes, it's as completely terrible for you as it sounds, and I might have a smidgen of shame. This is definitely not a place to bring company for an intimate meal. There are always a few kids running around, and it gets rather busy on weekends. You'll find it's a pretty loud setting. The server upon my most recent visit was very friendly and prompt. Before tip, dinner will run you about $13 with a beverage. Not a bad price if you make the most of it and eat until you're uncomfortable! *A note to the unaware: I have seen several people mention on Facebook that they've dealt with problems after paying for their food with a credit or debit card. Some of the cold items weren't bad, however some of the fruit had fermented. Funny, but the whole business reminded me of the buffet in Lampoon vacation in Vegas. Seriously. I find the food as good as a low cost buffet can get, especially on the E side. They don't charge for water (which someone said in a review) It's not the Journey, but it's 1/2 the cost. The raw fish at the sushi bar was low quality, and quantity. The rolls were pretty good though. Like I said, we are on the E side here. The Hibachi grill was great!!! Very generous with the shrimp portions. The rest of the stuff, really is your typical buffet style food, but better quality, as you will find on the E side. For all the people counting calories, they have Salmon, and if you mix that with the hibachi, you are in business. The raw oysters on the 1/2 shell were disgusting. I would stay away from them. You can tell that the manager of that places knows little about that particular product, but he has a budget. I asked the staff if they had brown rice, but they pointed to white rice, with soy sauce. I was sooooo happy to see the high quality hard ice cream... What a treat!!! So much better than soft serve... Until, I saw a big nasty hairy arm, dip into the containers. I wondered what germs were on his hairy arm. I also saw some ladies wool coat dip down in the deep sides of the ice cream... Her coat could have touched anything. If you're going to eat the ice cream there, I would reach for a new container, and not one where you have to dig down deep. E coli ice cream, at it's best!!!! Eventually the board of health will have to crack down, and they will have to go with soft serve. Either that, or hire an employee to scoop for you, or have them pre-scooped in advance. I have taken video with my phone, of the conditions Staff... Courteous, and swift they are. Hard workers... But I had my server sweep the floors, and then she asked me if I wanted a refill. I said "yes"... I watched her go straight to the ice machine (without washing her hands) She grabbed the scoop (that is constantly in the ice) put ice in the drinks, then filled up with soda / tea / water. She then threw the contaminated scoop back in the ice. I now order my drinks with no ice there. My mom was in the bathroom and one of the female employees left the restroom stall, dabbled some water on her hands, without soap and left. This particular waitress happened to be at our table. Until I told the manager. This problem is everywhere, but it's hard to respect staff when you see it "first hand", and "yes, the pun was intended. I really would like it if they served wine, to kill the germs. But it would it would probably be a bad wine if they did.. But it's OK... On that side of town, nobody would ever know :-) I'll continue to eat there because the price and location. Myy kids don't like the same food as me, For them, the more fatty food's the better. Most people I go with, know little of how much of critic I am. Food is decent, but their business practices are atrocious. When using a coupon, they take the taxes out BEFORE they apply the coupon, so you're paying tax on the 7.70 or whatever it is instead of the 6.70 it's supposed to be. It might seem small, but it adds up. And are they paying the extra "taxes" they're taking out to the government? Probably not...heard someone else complaining about this when I was there too. The manager of the place also is sexist, he tells the waitresses and hostesses that they should wear makeup to work and lose weight! They might be speaking in Chinese most of the time but what you do hear in English will shock you. Vote with your dollar, people! Although some dishes are not as delicious as I would have hoped, I had 100 other options. This place had a fairly full parking lot at 11:30 on a Saturday, a good sign. I started out with the hibachi grill, included in the price ($6.89 for lunch for an adult). While the selection wasn't as varied as, say, the Mongolian BBQ, I did find a nice variety. Garlic and a hot sauce were available but I let the chef season as usual so I could taste how it is normally prepared. I wasn't disappointed. My shrimp and "crab" were nicely prepared and the veggies were crisp. I also grabbed some sushi while I was in that area. Now, I am not a sushi snob -- I have been known to buy sushi at Marsh -- and I thought this was fine. Nothing too exciting. I did pick up a strange roll, well, rather, a fried eggroll shell stuffed with rice and shrimp. The egg roll shell was soggy, though, and rather tasteless. I wasn't as impressed with the rest of the buffet. The hot and sour soup was bland -- I had to add pepper -- and the few other items I tried were okay. I think I picked up a fried dumpling, coconut chicken and black pepper shrimp. I'd return, if only for the hibachi, while my fiance ate his fill. For $7 per person (although drinks are extra), it's a good value. The Chinese buffet by our apartment is more expensive and literally features 1/10th of the selection. Teppanyaki probably had 10 tables of food, plus a few more of desserts and ice cream. The restaurant was clean. Service was good, although the waitstaff seemed to congregate directly behind our table. Listening to five or seven young adults was annoying and, of course, I suspected that they were talking about the diners. ;-) Lunch runs until 3:30 and then dinner prices kick in (still under $10). Most of the dishes are very good, but naturally slathered in sugar to appease the American palate. That being said, I LOVE their Honey Chicken, it is my guilty pleasure :). I would steer clear of Sushi, I've had it a few times and it's really not that great, quality is also questionable. I've tried the Hibachi station only once, and the steak was super chewy and overcooked. I won't try it again. The desert station is very impressive, with fresh fruit, and a DELICIOUS "coffee cake" that is absolutely amazing. They also have Ice Cream and a salad bar. There is definitely something for everyone (including American food), so it's a good place to bring a group. Be aware, there might be some wait during peak dinner hours, especially Fri-Sun. The lunch is a very good deal both for dine-in and take out, and both dinner and lunch buffet have child discounts. Staff is also very nice. We went here last weekend, and It was okay. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. There were a lot of food choices but I feel like they were all hit or miss. The coconut chicken was nasty - too much mayonnaise. The hibachi chicken was really tender and delicious! The crab rangoon was good, and the sweet and sour chicken was crispy and fresh when we had it which is rare at buffets! It is a very large place, and there were a lot of people there around 4pm. One thing that annoyed me... there were little children running around the buffet getting their own food. There is a sign on the buffet saying anyone under 12 needs to be accompanied by their parent, and most everybody was ignoring that. What I am guessing was an 8 year old boy walked right in front of us at the self serve ice cream bar. He was there for about 10 minutes just trying to dip out ice cream (and then figure out how to get it to his bowl which he left on the other side of the table.) We normal love this place. Tonight we asked guy for refill. All 5 of our party drink were empty. He started to say you can wait you won't tip. What I said we just been there 15 minutes what does tip have to do with drinks. Spent $80 we always tip but employee keep arguing and going off on my husband. Went got manager n told him to stop n said sorry. Really he was yelling at us. No particular refund or any thing n we still didn't get refill. All there fried chicken was burnt n over cooked food was cold and don't get me started on bathroom if you feeling like you need them go over to Taco Bell and use there's. Sad use to be great place find some better help. Really bad when you can tell staff complaining about you in there language cus they keep pointing at us. If you are a face stuffer, this is a great place to go. The food falls between passable and bad. There is no disputing that they have an incredible selection and unmatched low price. And the food reflects that. I feel like they go to restaurant depot, buy everything in the frozen food section, and then warm it and serve it. I like the idea of the Hibachi bar, but the food never tastes good. I don't know how you mess up a Hibachi, but it doesn't taste anywhere near as good as Stir Crazy or Mongolian BBQ. Like I said, the value is unmatched. But do you really want to eat it? It's a buffet. But it's a pretty darn good buffet. I don't go to a buffet expecting gourmet food. I go to a buffet expecting a wide variety of food, all of it good, but none of it stellar. Huge selection. Quality on the various dishes is hit and miss but some are pretty good. Solid four stars as dinner buffet is under $10. To put that amazing price in perspective, I had a very mediocre burger for lunch at a Champp's the day before and that by itself was $10.99. So you can't compare this place to the Bellagio Buffet or Sakura. Compared to other sub-$10 dinners, this is a complete no-brainer.
