My friends and I dined here last night for the first time to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were seated outside. The patio was cozy, looking off the other restaurants in City Centre. Brittany took care of us all night. She was super sweet and attentive. Her service was exceptional; our drinks were always refilled and all our questions about the menu were answered. Sadly, I wasn't too impressed with the food. The mac and cheese, as well as the deviled eggs, were subpar. I was really looking forward to trying both but they lacked flavor. The dijon mustard was so overwhelming in the deviled eggs. That's all I could really taste. I had the cesar salad for dinner as it seemed like a safe option. I recommend the spicy margarita for a cocktail. It was very refreshing and spicier than most. We skipped on dessert because we brought our own cake. Overall, the food here wasn't anything special. Listen the name is literally what I want to do! Gather daily at the location and get all the sides and vibes!! Located in City Centre (Houston, Texas baby!), it is such a great addition! I did not realize that they have been there since Jan. 2022. The predecessor was Straits and right now I see Daily Gather as a great successor! Great place to gather and relax! Reasonably priced for such good food and fabulous service! Reservation: YES! Make a reservation through open table Parking: there are meter parking and garages around but there is valet service for $10 Staff: the staff was very sweet and attentive! My girl, Dominique(sp) aka Dom, was great! Great energy, great suggestions! All around good vibes! Ambiance: it is really a refreshing location! I came here for brunch with some friends on a Sunday, and we all loved this place! It's very aesthetically pleasing inside. I would recommend making reservations beforehand because it does get pretty busy here. We came as a group of 4, and got the "Ultimate Brunch." To be honest, this was just the right perfect amount for all of us. We were all very satisfied and full by the end of our meal. Splitting this amongst the 4 of us was a great deal that was very much bang for your buck! Not only that, but the board itself had a 10/10 presentation (perfect to show off to your friends on social media). It comes with so much because you get a little bit of a lot of different breakfast food items, including both savory and sweet. Everything was so delicious! We also each got drinks that were all really good! I got a ginger strawberry lemonade mocktail that was super refreshing and not too overly sweet. It was recommended by my server, who did an excellent job explaining what drinks he recommended, depending on if we wanted something sweet or more refreshing. We headed over on a Thursday early afternoon (11ish) with a party of 7 without a reservation. It took them a few minutes to discuss as a waitress and 2 hostesses to figure out how to seat us. They had mentioned they had a ton of reservations inside and asked if we wanted to sit outside. At first we said no just because it was so hot/humid out but ultimately since they seemed like they were struggling to figure it out - we agreed to. Our waitress was very outgoing (maybe a little too much). She made "jokes" but they were not very funny. We were outside and had ordered some appetizers. While we sat outside - a huge gust of wind blew throw and we had to hold onto our menus. Our waitress came out and moved us inside - mentioning she wanted to get us inside before it rained because it was suck for her to serve us in that. Our appetizers were already on our new set table. We began digging in and I wondered why we were sat inside in the first place at our request. I had tried the elote corn bread which was pretty good. Our waitress came back and took our entree order (made a comment that was unnecessary about what I ordered as my entree - it was from the raw bar and a small portion). She then said that we should hurry with our appetizers because the food comes quick. So, 20-25 minutes later (maybe longer) our food comes out. I had ordered the ahi tuna tostadas. It was 3 small tostadas. It was very good. Love the toppings / seasonings. I had some of their home made chips from a friends plate. It was good. And some mac and cheese - I could've ate just that as my lunch - I really thought that was good. All and all, the place was cute, the food was great, I would've given it 5 stars if the service wasn't so bad. read more

Located in City Center next to some really nice shops and restaurants. Parking will be difficult unless you go park in the parking garage and walk over. The outside is covered and has seating. The interior is quiet modern and aesthetic, although a bit dimly lit. The bar is pretty nice. The food is slightly lacking in execution and quality. We got some stuff off of the happy hour menu, then got entrees from the regular menu. It's pretty close to a Postino esque menu. The cheese fries were a little drab, although the charcuterie board wasn't bad. The sliders were pretty disappointing and lacking finesse. Would revisit for dinner so wasn't too bad, but 3.5 at best. We had a 1:30pm reservation on Saturday. I got there at 1:07, asked to be seated right away at 1:30. Came back at 1:28, and it was hellaciously busy. Our party of four weren't seated until 1:45, and the high chair we requested took another 15 minutes to show up. Not sure why they prioritize seating walk-ins over people who make reservations (are we just fish that have been caught already?), but we got a nice table. The ambiance is nice albeit loud. Sparkling water is complimentary - that's a plus! I had read reviews ahead of time and had been warned against the Mac and Cheese and the braised short rib. The dinner menu carries the aguachile but not the brunch menu, so I took a chance asking about it - and it wasn't cured yet, which is actually a good sign (daily curing, keeping it fresh). And the beautiful French Dip that actually represents the restaurant in its cover photo here on Yelp - well, that's no longer on the menu. Shucks. Our friends ordered the BLT and the Eggs Benedict. We got: - deviled eggs: 5/5. Loved the crunchy bacon bits and the mustard seeds. Some of the best deviled eggs we've had. - the biscuit and gravy (with an added egg and chicken fingers): 4/5. I wouldn't get this again - it was way salty - but my partner liked it. - winter grains (with an egg): 4.5/5. Interesting blend of flavors between savory, sweet, and vinegary/yogurt sour. It grew on me but not before at least 4 bites. So this egg for my winter grains. I asked for it to be poached soft-medium, and the waitress whose name I won't mention asked whether I mean like eggs benedict. I said yes, and she said she would recommend it over medium, because it would otherwise be too runny. So I said, I don't want it over medium - can I get it just medium so that the whites are firm but the yolk is still soft? And she said sure. My dish eventually came and my egg wasn't there, so I let her know, and she said she'll get it going. The whole point of adding the egg was to have the runny yolk over the grains, so I waited. The egg takes another 20 mins to come, and it's fried over medium. I let her know I asked for it to be poached medium, and she said, "No, you said you want it over medium because it'd otherwise be too runny, remember?" And I said, No, I said I specifically don't want it over medium and I didn't ever want it fried, and she said that the kitchen can't poach an egg medium bc it'd overcook. ... this whole exchange was so absurd. What brunch place doesn't know how to poach an egg medium? And while she offered to take that off the bill, her tone was closer to disgruntled than I appreciated. Given the general chaos of a Saturday brunch and the series of waits we experienced - and the fact that the waitstaff told me eggs can't be poached soft-medium there - I wouldn't recommend this as a brunch spot. Go to its big sister restaurant Dish Society or any other nice brunch spots in the Memorial Dr vicinity. read more

Came here with a group of four couples as this place is new and we've all been wanting to try it. We had reservations and were seated right away. The interior is lovely and the location is nice. It is right next to Yardhouse in City Centre. I am giving it three stars for the ambience, location and attentiveness. As far as the food, it was just ok. I did not care for the deviled eggs as I believe the mustard flavors was overpowering. The oyster Rockefeller was the best item I had. There were greens in the oyster and I have never had them made this way but it was really amazing. The trout was good (others at my table said it was not flavorful), the salmon was good, and the short ribs were super tough, almost not chewable; however, the short ribs were super flavorful!! If they were tender then this would have been an amazing dish. All in all I would probably not be returning but I am glad I tried it! read more

If you like Dish Society, definitely give this place a try since it's their sister restaurant. We went during their soft opening phase, fully understanding they are working on the kinks and just trying to get their overall groove. We were quickly seated and drink orders taken. Let me say that the decor and ambience is beautiful! A great place for a date! Our waiter was very friendly and answered all of our questions regarding the menu. For our appetizer we had the bone marrow, which came with a few pieces of buttered toast. Complemented well, but of course with bone marrow it leaves you wanting more to eat! For our entrees we got the steak frites - cooked medium - which came with fries. The steak was good, but the fries, wow they were excellent! I wish the meal also came with a small portion of veggies. We also had the braised short rib. It was ok, maybe a little over cooked for our liking but hey, soft opening, it can happen. The stew/sauce it was cooked in was great. I swung by for a large work lunch and had an overall positive experience. FYI if you check in with Yelp, you'll get an order of Deviled Eggs free, which was a nice surprise. They're also very tasty which makes it even better. Everyone's food looked great and no one complained about their order. I ordered the steak salad and was very pleased with the protein portions. Some places get skimpy with their steak on salads, but this place loaded it up. The lunch menu has a wide range of options, all trendy and dressed up, so there's something for everyone. (Fancified fries, avocado toast with a twist, dressed up mac n cheese, Charcuterie boards, French Dip sandwich but with brisket, vegetarian sanwich option, Shrimp & Grits, a $13 grilled cheese because it's on sourdough, and so forth.) There's lots of raving here on their brunch offerings, so might have to give that a shot sometime. Service was a little slow and forgetful here and there, but we were an 8 top table, so I can understand it's hard to keep up with that many people at the same time. They do not allow separate checks for tables of 8 or more, which was fine, but just a heads up for others coming in large numbers. If you like the general aesthetics of Citycentre restaurants, this place fits right in and you'll be very happy with the look, feel, and food. read more

We live in the city centre, and saw that the restaurant was opening today for service. Walked in with another friend around 4:30 pm for social hour and early dinner. Nice decor, clean, and neat. First impression: great to come here for brunch, dates, or to even grab a quick bite. They have a robust menu with multi-fusion dishes that ranged from Italian, Mexican, Vietnamese, and southern. We were greeted and promptly seated with a view (see photo for reference). Food: -Salmon ceviche tostadas Vietnamese style: chopped salmon marinated in nuoc cham, served on wonton crisps, and topped with viet herb mix and hoisin. Everyone at the table agreed that it needed more seasoning (salt), and after I squeezed some lemon juice did the dish come to life. I thought that the flavours of the nuoc cham and hoisin sauce were only barely present, and would have liked them to come through stronger. 3/5 stars -Southern Rockefeller oysters: I could not taste the bacon butter and the wilted greens were clashing with the texture of the oysters. It was broiled but tasted mostly boiled - needed the buttery garlic and bacon flavours to elevate the oyster. 2/5 stars -Truffled mushroom focaccia: the truffle Parmesan sauce must have cooked off...I did not taste the truffle, however it was a good flat bread dish. I liked the generous amount of mushrooms they put on it. 4/5 stars -Aromatic bone marrow: the bones need to be bigger and have generous amount of marrow in them. By the time it was cooked and came to our table, the three of us could barely put on enough on the toasted French bread slices they provided with the bone marrow. A lot of it already melted into oil. The viet herb mix salad...lacked seasoning or that salty-tangy punch I was looking for to cut the richness of the marrow. 1.5/5 stars -Trout almondine: a clean and crisp dish. Loved the green beans with almond, a classic pairing. The fish was flaky and not overcooked. Seasoning was just right. Would get it again. 5/5 stars -Vesper martini with three oysters : I love my martinis and this vesper was fragrant but missed the mark on being a good stiff drink. Needed to be served very chilled and the glass needs to be chilled as well. The three oysters that accompanied the drink were delightfully fresh, and loved their finely shaved horseradish, and lemon mignonette. 4/5 stars -Lavender 75, and golden martini: the Lavender 75 was lovely and did a great play on the french 75 with creme de violette. The lavender flavour did not overpower the whole drink and tasted pretty good. The golden martini was briny and strong - but I would have liked the onion vermouth and celery flavours to come through a tad bit more. 4.5/5 stars -Raspberry and pistachio semifreddo - lovely presentation, but it was rock solid and not semi frozen when it was served to us. We were scared that while trying to cut through it we would send it flying everywhere. Our attentive waitstaff even offered to take it back to let it thaw and soften a bit but after 5-7 minutes it was still frozen and we hacked away noisily at our dessert. The flavours were delicious but I wanted the proper texture and mouthfeel, which was lacking. 2/5 stars Service was wonderful, and our table host, Kiaya, was superb! Taking one star off instead of two because most of the food was underwhelming and it is also their first day. Going to give them a chance to work through opening day hiccups. read more

Came for my birthday with a friend. We ended up sitting at the bar and our waiter was great and made good cocktails. The place was pretty empty, but clean and staff was nice. The only reason I give it three stars is that we didn't really enjoy our food. We ordered the Arancini, which the breading tasted stale and the oil was bad. We also had the Deviled eggs, that were just ok. I did not order an entree, but my friend had the burger and wasn't really impressed. I had the Vegetable omelet and a side of bacon. Disappointed it had very few vegetables and the side of bacon was salty and inside the omelette . The service was hit and miss. We had two different waitresses who didn't properly communicate and had to ask for missing items and refills . The managers did come by and apologize to make things better. The ambiance was good. I had a lovely breakfast catching up with friends. Love that they open early (9a on Saturday) before the City Centre crowd. Service was spot on, as was the food. Filling portions. I had a hazelnut latte that was beyond perfect - smooth, so pretty, perfect temp, heavenly. No picture - cause of course I got (insert heart eyes face here) and forgot. Appreciated the comp deviled eggs with a Yelp check in; we didn't care for it though. New concept by Aaron Lyons of Dish Society -- opened 1/11 in City Centre and my coworker and I went 1/13 for dinner. Giving this review 4 stars due to the newness and a few kinks that need to be worked out with any new restaurant opening. There's always room for improvement! The service was amazing. Natalia was our waiter and she was very kind, bubbly, and attentive. She always had an eye on her tables and was quick to fill up our water glasses. Much appreciated. The two managers also stopped by during our dinner. We gave them a few suggestions and continued our evening. First suggestion -- The restaurant is called Daily Gather, so some might assume that sharing plates will be involved. If so, and that was the case for me and my coworker, every dish we shared came to the table without serving utensils. We're closer so we didn't mind digging in with our forks but I didn't want to mix the flavors of each dish by using the same utensil I'd be eating off of. My recommendation is to think two steps ahead of the people dining. Offer up front and if they say no, no problem. But what if this was a first date or a meeting with someone you don't know very well? And, COVID is still hanging out.. Second suggestion -- The food runners lack experience and didn't feel like they wanted to be there. It could have been an off day or hell, maybe they don't want to be there *shrug* but every time one came to bring dishes to the table, they did so in a manner that was a little messy.. typically, one would move things out of the way or the guests would help make room for the dishes. The few food runners who came to our table just dropped it off and went on their way. It didn't feel inviting. Third suggestion -- The charcuterie board is weak. Maybe it was because we ordered the small but the menu says jams and dips and none of those were on the board. So, we were left with baguette bites and crisps but nothing to dip. Not even honey! The cajun spicy nuts were a delicious addition. There were three types of cheese and two were very, very similar in taste. Delicious, but I'd prefer different styles and textures when it comes to cheese on a charcuterie board. Other dishes we shared -- Mac n Cheese: 2/5, nothing special but still good as an appetizer or side dish Spaghetti Lola: 4/5, The menu says it's a garlic basil tomato sauce but it was kind of bland. I didn't taste any garlic or basil but other than that, the dish is so tasty and comforting. Anything with burrata and I'm sold! Braised Short Rib: 4/5, wow this dish is a must. The meat falls off the fork and is so tender. I would have loved more gnocchi, especially for the ratio of meat on the dish. The sweet carrots and various mushrooms paired really well with the protein and gnocchi. Bananas Foster Banana Pudding: 5/5, yep, just get it. It's served in a stemless wine glass and they fill it up to the rim. Not sure if one person could have eaten it after apps and the main course but it's a great portion to share or take home for later! Drinks we didn't share -- El Gran Diablo: 3/5, if you like mezcal, try this! Spicy Margarita Espresso Martini: 4/5, best one I've had in a while! Strong and full of flavor The ambience is lovely and the decor was meticulously selected. Didn't give off the home-y feel that most local publications wrote about but we did sit there and talk for three hours so it does live up to its marketing copy, "so pull up a chair, gather around, and stay a while." Lovely spot to spend Brunch with friends Five high-spirited friends, we try to Brunch once a month. Each of our lives are stress-filled and it's good to laugh it off. Daily Gather at City Centre is perfect. Our server, Leydi, had all the patience and grace our group needs. Two ordered Biscuits and Gravy with an extra ladle of gravy as the gravy-to-biscuit ratio was flipped for them. Eggs were ordered and beautifully folded. We tried the Pop Tart...don't debate, just order it! It's perfection. The filling was fresh and the icing was so good. The French Toast a la carte included two slices of Heaven. As for me, I ordered from the For the Table section - Deviled Eggs and Cacao e Pepe Frites. Four haves of Deviled Eggs with whole mustard beautifully presented and very tasty. The fries are the battered type with just the right amount of shredded cheese and course ground black pepper and are a nice portion for two to share. We arrived at 1PM and stayed longer than some would, so we were able to see early evening diners and their menu choices looked and smelled fantastic. Might need to take my mom! read more

I was craving a good cinnamon roll. After doing some research, I decided on exploring the one at Daily Gather. When I walked in, I immediately felt like I wasn't welcomed. Granted, I arrived right when they opened, but the hostess only looked at me instead of greeting me. I'm then told that they have lots of reservations so I can only stay for a limited time. I'm seated in the back, near the kitchen. One waiter walks by to toss some of their Daily Gather cards on my table (no greeting, just a toss) and another walks by; no smiles, no greeting. I almost walked out because I was so uncomfortable. Thankfully then my waitress Risa came, gave me eye contact and a genuine smile. She turned my entire visit around and was an absolute joy. I will always be asking to sit in her section at Daily Gather moving forward. If it hadn't been for Risa, I would have left and this would be a much lower rated review. I went to Daily Gather today for a book club meeting and had a really nice experience. They have a very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, with a covered patio where my party of 14 was seated. The shade and fans kept us cool for a good while, but eventually the heat outside took over. Lol. It wasn't terrible though. The menu had a variety of options that all sounded very tasty, but I chose the garden omelette. It was fantastic! I also tried the cinnamon roll. It tasted ok, but it was a bit too hard for my liking. The highlight of the visit for me was the ginger strawberry lemonade. It was heavyyyyy on the ginger. I love ginger, so that was great. It was pretty amazing. It's one of their mocktails, but our server suggested adding a shot of vodka. I kept mine alcohol free, but I'll definitely try it that way next time. Speaking of our server, she was great! Excellent service. Taking care of a large party can be challenging, but she did a fantastic job. She was attentive, efficient, and friendly. We took kids there for brunch today, they asked us if we want to seat inside or outside. First we said outside since next to green field. Once we sit down realized it was very hot, we asked to switch inside, waitress said no room. I walked in and saw so many tables. I went to ask host if we can change to inside, because it's so hot outside. They said no. I was like a minute ago you said if we want to seat inside or outside, why suddenly no room as I see so many table available. If you don't want to help move us inside, we will have to go to a different restaurant for indoor seats in this weather, the host said "surely you should go!" I would recommend to make a reservation because Daily Gather just opened a month ago and it's a hot restaurant! Inside is very modern. It would be a great place to join some friends for happy hour or to have brunch. We ate in the outside patio~ it is covered and they have temporary walls to cover the sides to block wind and keep it warm in the winter. I had their garden sandwich, amazing. Solid place- maybe this one will outlast its predecessors. Love the patio space, inside has nice ambience too. The brunch board looks amazing- just need enough mouths to share it with! I ended up getting the braised short rib coz I'm a sucker for it- it was ok. Might go with something more brunchy next time- potatoes and biscuits were pretty delicious- maybe a tad heavy on the salt. Leave room for dessert! read more

Brunch here was so enjoyable. Service was on point. Very attentive and friendly. Vibes here are super chill. Cute spot to have brunch with family and friends. We ate on the patio and to my surprise it was very delightful, nice breeze and no unwanted pests. To eat we all share the ultimate brunch which is like a charcuterie board but brunch items. Chocolate donuts, sausage, bacon, eggs, breakfast potatoes, French toast, biscuits and deviled eggs. All of it was amazing.
