After running to a store in King, we swung through the drive through at Dairi-O. I live in the Clemmons area so I'm accustomed to the great food and service of that location. Unfortunately, all that this location has going for it, is the cool exterior of the building. Placing the order was fine, the worker got it all right and we pulled around. When they approached the car, my husbands name was all messed up on the ticket. Like they didn't even try to put in Jonathan. They just made up something after hearing "John..." We had to ask the worker who brought out the food for mustard and ketchup which he brought out and then we asked for a cup of ice because there was none in my mom's tea. He told us it was $0.79 or something. We held up the drink and showed him it literally had no ice. He huffed and puffed and acted like it would kill him to walk back in with a backbone to get a cup of ice for something THEY messed up on. So instead, my mom took the hot cup of tea since it was too big of an ordeal for the boy. All the while, there are solid glass windows at the drive through and there were young girls eating inside making faces and doing dumb stuff through the window at the cars and us, in the drive through. I know that's no fault of the Dairi-O, but if they had a drive through that didn't sit right beside of solid glass windows, maybe the drive through patrons wouldn't get mocked and harassed by teens/children while awaiting their orders. Needless to say, we will stick to Dairi-O in Clemmons from now on or drive back over to pilot if we're in the area and need a quick bite. read more

We're not super familiar with Dairi-O, but they have popped up in our area lately and we've tried it out. So traveling through King we decided to stop and grab a bite. This was the cutest one we've seen with the milkshake front and center when you enter. The inside was clean and spacious (the parking was a bit tight but we got a spot quickly) You order at the counter and all the staff was SO nice!! We got the #3 combo all the way, add pickles with fries. It was scrumptious. My husband added on a Butterfinger Flurry and it too was really good. Dairi-o is a 10/10!! read more

This original Dairi-O has been around forever it seems, but it's only been since 1947, when it opened as a take out only burger and hot dog joint, with milk shakes as well. The tiny spot remained the same until 2010 when a new, contemporary structure was built close by. Over the years, the menu has grown to include additional sandwich choices (BBQ, chicken, fish, chicken souvlaki, grilled cheese, and wraps), as well as soups and salads. And the number of locations has risen to 11, stretching from Jacksonville to Hendersonville. My boyfriend took me here while we were on a road trip to Mount Airy for lunch for a quick stop while we were on the road. Definitely one of the best burgers I've had. It was so juicy and fresh. I also had the cheese fries on the side and they were delicious. He had a hotdog and chili cheese fries and he liked both! Definitely want to go back to a dairi-o when I see one next time! read more

My daughter has tried Dairi-o on her commute from home to college and, as a vegetarian, loves that they have vegetarian options. I, knowing they have soft serve ice cream, have always wanted to try it and had my chance today. Husband and I were hungry on a road trip and decided we needed a little cone to tide us over. However, it seemed a better value to just go with the large cone. Wow, was it large. I am now stuffed but happy. Cone was perfect flavor, temp and consistency. We just went through the drive through but the place had a Chick-fil-a vibe with the red and white decor, clear but colorful menu and excellent and correct service. Another review I've already written that yelp has deleted. I have recently learned that yelp doesnt like reivews that are too nice because it makes it harder for them to sell various services to businesses like doing things to raise their ratings. As such I'm not going to make a long review as it seems yelp will just delete it. Dairi-O is nor DQ but some folks assume they might be the same. Dairi-O has a far better menu and everything on it is of better quality and proportions as compared to most fast food. The staff is always very nice and they have more drink choices than most fast food. They also have both soft serve and full ice cream parlor of traditional style ice creams. With that great ice cream you can also get real hand made shakes too. They always have clean bathrooms at the few locations we have gone to as well. read more

I was drawn to come here because I like Dari-O and I thought the outside looked like a fun place to eat. King is a nearby town, but the location is not close to a highway so you will need to tour King to get there. It looked clean outside and in and I decided to go a different path and got a BBQ sandwich combo and got a chocolate shake for a drink. The sandwich was a chopped pork was okay but for the price it was a good value. The chocolate shake was not that great and although made with soft serve ice cream it was not that creamy and difficult to drink. A nice spot to have a quick and inexpensive meal. read more

Was super Excited to bring my kids and grand kids here for some Ice cream only to have regular Ice cream and the employees to have a attitude when I asked to get the first two orders that were done and melting. I don't like melt ice cream while they made my shake and root beer float. And for some reason it triggered her. To the point that she gave us a dirty look. And slammed the rest of my order on the counter when ready. I couldn't get her name tag because she hide it. But she was hideous, brown long hair in a ponytail, glasses and wearing head piece. I go all of the time great food and they have never messed up. The people are great there very nice.

Paid $6.39 for around a 12oz milk shake (they only have one size). I waited 15 minutes in the drive thru listening to the workers explain how they'd messed up other orders. I've lived in the area my whole life and have always gone here, but after the last few times, I'm done. read more

My wife has been mentioning Dairi-O since we've arrived in North Carolina. Today, we were on our way back to Winston from Hanging Rock State Park and saw there was one in King. We were both hungry so we stopped to grab something to eat. We had no idea that the original Dairi-O was in King. We immediately thought the exterior of the building was cool and there was ample parking and even an outdoor area to eat your meal. There is also a drive-through. We stepped inside and were immediately greeted by a young lady who helped us get familiar with the menu. My wife inquired about the ice cream since she didn't see any information on the menu board and was told that if we wanted to order ice cream it was best to go to the ice cream counter so we could look at the options. My wife chose the Apple Crisp Chicken Salad with a bottled water and I chose the Monster burger since I saw it was a 6.4 oz. burger vs. their standard hamburger which was 3.2 oz. I also ordered fries. I was surprised to see that in addition to the routine condiments they also had individual packets of Texas Pete hot sauce, Malt Vinegar and Lemon Juice. Our order number was called in a timely manner and we took a seat inside. My wife enjoyed her salad and her only complaint is they use an iceberg mix. I thought my burger and fries were tasty as well. My wife couldn't resist the temptation to order an ice cream cone. There were a lot of great options but she ultimately chose a berry cheesecake flavor although we can't remember exactly which flavor it was. She rated the ice cream and the freshness of the waffle cone a 5! Overall, this was a good experience and we enjoyed our meals, we will be back! read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid! We used to walk up, order the most delicious hot dogs, and play in the arcade in their second building next door. I almost don't recognize the new building with the massive soda cup out front! Crazy to see how many locations they have now. Their hot dogs are and have always been one of my favorites. I'm from New England where we grill the tops of our buns with butter and Dairio is one of the only places that do this! Their hot dogs are great quality (I know, sounds weird to say about a hot dog but trust me). They grill them slightly and roll the buns in butter and grill them quickly. It creates this amazing crust and the rest is history. Fries are seasoned and delicious as well but if you only get one thing, get a hot dog. read more

This has been my go-to Dairi-O location since I moved to the area a few years back. There's quite a bit of room on the inside, but I love that they have covered outdoor seating. My usual order is a hotdog combo with fries. Their hot dogs are juicy, topped with fresh, quality toppings, and placed in a buttery grilled bun. The fries are always crispy and pair perfectly with their homemade ranch. I also try to save some room for a scoop of ice cream when I'm there. They have over 25 flavors, but I'm a sucker for the strawberry cheesecake. This last visit I switched it up a little and got a salad, the Dairi-O All Star Salad to be exact. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of it. All the veggies tasted fresh, and the chicken souvlaki was seasoned perfectly. I will definitely be ordering it again. read more

I've been a loyal fan of Dario's since day one because the food and customer service are usually fantastic. Unfortunately, my recent visit was disappointing. Half my drive-thru order was missing, and while the manager was very kind and had my food ready, I had to drive 40 minutes round-trip to fix a mistake that wasn't mine. On top of that, the food had been sitting for nearly two hours with my name still on the receipt. Everyone I spoke to was polite, but it would've been nice to get something complimentary for the inconvenience. Loyal customers deserve better. read more

I've been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. I can still remember the days it was a small white building on the side of the road. There were many nights my family and I would go there for banana splits on a Sunday evening in the summer. Their hotdogs are the best on earth and I will argue that to the death. The hamburgers are your standard griddle style hamburgers, nothing special, but definitely not bad. I haven't ventured too far into their menu and just stick with the hamburgers and hotdogs. Their ice cream's are amazing, a word of advice though, be careful with her dip tops! If you don't eat them quickly, they will melt fast! read more

They are super nice and polite, and it really seems like they take pride in making sure customers have and get what they want. I'm not from the area so my Dairi'-O experience was a first. Their black bean burger is probably one of the best I have had! Black beans and corn just pair so good together. Don't get me started on their chipotle mayo. I got the burger how it was made and it was fantastic! Crisp veggies and a hot patty. Cheese fries were okay, but great for the price. Your standard nacho cheese and crinkle cut fries. Service is super friendly, the pay for the employees seem very fair (double minimum wage!), and a covered drive-through so you and employees aren't affected by the weather.
