I don't know what happened to this dairy queen but the manager now a) overcharges for every single thing we order, b) outright refuses to make any custom order even though we've ordered the same things for YEARS no problems before, and c) is rude as hell. Literally ordered a root beer freeze (have always gone there for those), she said she can't ring it up anymore as it's not a menu option now. I told her okay, I'll buy a large root beer and pay for a large vanilla ice cream, more money for you, just mix them. She did, then told me she'll never make it again for me. Asked my husband if he wanted extra peanuts and fudge on his parfait, he said sure, she charged him three times for each one, adding like six damn dollars to the order, which I think is more than the original order itself. I've recently discovered that I could get a chocolate banana milkshake from Dairy Queen and it made my day! I also discovered that I actually much prefer a plain cheeseburger and not a fancy one that comes with all the veggies. And I usually love all the veggies! While packing for a move, this DQ was a staple in keeping me fed once a day. The team are young but lovely people who always smile and are kind. They do a great job! Food is always great! Last 2 times being here service has been pretty bad. Put someone on the headsets that doesn't clearly hate their job and is atleast somewhat helpful. Most recent transaction was "do you have any specials or deals going on?" Just blunt one word "No." I asked "do you have any recommendations?" Again just a blunt "No". I get it. It's fast food. It's a DQ, which is as cold and hard as a dipped cone, but it's fine for what it is. Came in to try the churro dipped cone, which is so good. It's a cinnamon flavored dip, and then they sprinkle a cinnamon sugar powder (I don't think it's just sugar and cinnamon because it's not regular granulated sugar, but I liked the powder) and there's a little salt in the dip that I wasn't expecting, so it was tasty. What I didn't like was that they forgot to give us our fries for the kids meal and the honey mustard dip for the cheese curds and the cashier was so busy that we had finished our food by the time the line cleared. We also liked the cheese curds. My niece was surprised that they had "mozzarella balls" and I didn't bother to correct her. I went to dairy queen at 9:40 PM on June 24. Right when I walk in, 50 minutes before closing, little miss side eye looks at me and my group of 5. I see her roll her eyes and whisper to cute co-worker and I can see she is obviously talking bad about us. As we continue to order, she is seen staring and continues to side eye all of us. As someone who attends this DQ often, I found this behavior hurtful, and absolutely uncalled for. She had a braid in, hoops, and a pink/red streak in her hair. I hope DQ takes this behavior seriously, as I may not come back. Please take care of little miss side eye if you guys ever want me and my group of 5 to return. 1 star. read more

We had a long difficult day at St Pete's hospital and were starving! We did the drive through at this location, and it was a terrible experience. I ordered a deluxe burger, no cheese, no onion. and a small chocolate milkshake. She ordered a crisp chicken burger, fries and lemonade. None of our order was correct except the lemonade. The deluxe burger had not one but TWO COLD burger patties, stacked with TONS of onions, and lots of cheese of several kinds. A stiff cheese slice, white pour on cream cheese, and one tiny limp lettuce leaf, one little crumb of tomato. Tasted horrible even after taking off the cheese, onions and one patty. She got a limp chicken burger (not crispy at all, even LOOKED wet! Tasteless and poorly cooked. It's like they just gave us someone else's order that had sat for hours! The only thing decent about any of this were the fries, and we had to share them since the rest of our meal was inedible. The chocolate shake was barely half full. worse Dairy Queen experience ever, and this was after a long hard day at the hospital.. Never Again! read more

Stopped by this DQ on Yelm Hwy for a late lunch yesterday. The young man at the register was so kind taking our order. Not to mention, it was Halloween! (What young person wants to work on Halloween evening?!) We ordered chicken strip baskets for the family and they were PHENOMENAL. We all were very impressed! Give these kids a raise! The food was great as always, I got chicken strips and everything was hot and delicious. I ordered a 6 pc chicken strip basket but when i opened my food I realized it was a 4 pc instead of 6. I checked my receipt and i was charged for a 6pc, so i called and told them what had happened. The lady on the phone was very polite and handled the situation well and offered to give me a free basket if I came back. I ordered an ice cream cake for my daughter's birthday at this location via their online order form. Within an hour, I received a call right away regarding my cake order. Unfortunately, the character theme that I wanted for the cake was under copyright, but we were able to work an alternate route (basically use the environmental theme of the character and then place toys on top ^_^). Two days later, the cake decorator in charge of my daughter's birthday cake, "Jewel/Jule" called me and provided some suggestions for the cake. Honestly, I just told her to have fun with it (basically had her re-create Sugar Rush Land in Wreck-It-Ralph). Long story short, I was not expecting much from a Dairy Queen cake order as I have typically ordered custom fondant cakes in the past (extremely expensive). Jewel definitely exceeded my expections with the cake. Her attention to detail was amazing. Did I mention before our first phone conversation she told me she watched the movie the day before (determination & passion as a cake decorator here!). Even the guests who ate and saw the cake were amazed at the little details that she paid attention to. The dirt, little mud pit, track, finish line, crushed candy cane, etc. One guest commented "I never would have thought Dairy Queen made these kind of cakes." The African American girl who works the cash register always seems to think something is funny. She is always laughing and joking with the workers. Today I ordered my food. She was slightly smiling at me as I was getting my card, then looking back at the cook. She handed me my food and then looked back at the cook. This was truly the worst customer service we have experienced in a while. We went through the drive thru on Monday (Nov.14) to order milkshakes and a small sundae for my dying grandfather. We ordered a kids sundae for my daughter to have with him and they gave us vanilla ice cream in a cup. Nothing on it, just plain. When asked how this was a Sunday, the man stated...well it's ice cream in a cup so it's a sundae...with attitude. Then the woman taking our order gave us attitude when asking if we could just have her pour some of the chocolate milkshake into a "mini" sized blizzard cup. As if we were asking the world. Again, for my toddler that doesn't need a full ice cream. There was absolutely no customer service and no creativity on how they could serve their customers. Everything is microwaved...ordered the chicken strips....toast soggy, threw away, their gravy dipping sauce which at dairy queen in shelton has a gravy consistency, was like water, threw it away....out of three boxes, $23, we ate 6 chicken-strips. This is not the norm. In a time where getting to eat out is an event, this reflects horribly on this restaurant. Go back for ice cream but not for food. Just bought a blizzard here. It was so runny it was like a shake, and it was so blended it did not have the chunky and thick consistency that a blizzard should have. It would not have passed the "upside down" test. I only get a special treat about 2x/year, so it was a big disappointment. read more

This location opened recently. I had visited one time before today and the food was decent for drive-through fast food. Today I returned and ordered the 1/4 pound Cheese Grill Burger at approximately 10 pm. It cost $5.65 and although I thought the price was high, I accepted it since it was newly open and hadn't been to a DQ for many years prior to my first visit at this newly opened location. I ordered something different on my first visit. When I got home starving, I realized they had given me and CHARGED me for the 1/2 pound burger with 2 patties. I DO NOT eat 1/2 pound burgers EVER. Due to the late hour, I took one of the patties off and ate the 1/4 POUND burger I ordered but did not receive. The food was again OK for a fast food burger but nothing to write home about. There is not much to do with a leftover fast food burger patty so I put it in the garbage disposal. I feel ripped off because I overpaid for something I had to throw out. I'm not sure if I will ever eat there again, but if I do, I will make sure to open everything before I leave and take care of it then and there. I get it's only a few dollars but it is the principle of being overcharged for the order they screwed up. They also did not give me a receipt. If they had given me a receipt I may have caught the error before writing this. Hopefully they have their accounting in order (I am an accountant) and they will realize and acknowledge their mistake.
