We stopped there last night after a visit to a corn maze in Dundee and I had something at DQ that I've never had before: jaw-dropping customer service. It's not that I usually get bad service at a DQ, it's fine most of the time. Here, though? At this one? A master class in how to serve the public. Led by Amir, his team takes complete care of the client. They do it in such a way that it is infectious across the board. Amir lets everyone know that 'he's got them', letting everyone know that they are in good hands. He pays attention to people who are waiting, letting them know what is happening, while providing the best customer service possible to the next person in line. Coming from customer service, this is how I treat my own clients. I know that my method is rare so I find it incredibly refreshing when I see it happen to me and to have it happen in a place that I wouldn't otherwise expect. The magic behind Amir's leadership is how his team reflects him. I needed ice. Amir was busy but someone else on his team said 'he got me', got my cup, filled it with ice and the drink I wanted and took care of me. This team is absolutely amazing and my final point before I go...all of this happened near the end of the night. No one was dragging. Energy and desire to serve was still at a high level. First time trying DQ ice cream! The New York cheesecake blizzard was excellent - loved the chunks of cheesecake in the perfect biteable size. A small was more than enough for 2 people to share. The ice cream here wasn't absurdly overpowered in sweetness too, compared to most of the ice cream found in America. Apparently this is one of the rare DQ branches that is open all year round, even in winter. Employees at this branch don't seem particularly cheerful though. And no restroom here! This is by far and away the greatest consumer experience I have ever had in my life. I personally, am obsessed with the S'mores blizzard and find myself going back to this location so many times. EVERY SINGLE TIME I am met with the most genuinely kind service from the staff. It seriously is a family environment in there and the workers there are always making me and my friends feel welcome. We drive 15 minutes out of the way to go to this location because of how outstanding the service is even when there is a DQ closer to us. I've been here multiple times- too many if I'm being honest! I live 5 minutes away so I make an excuse to get a peanut buster parfait regularly! They're open year round and they've recently updated the interior. I don't know what other people are talking about as far as service- I have brought indecisive children, waited in long fast moving lines on hot summer days, came in shortly before close and have always had friendly & efficient service! They have been patient with my children, corrected a mistake in ordering (my kids fault) with a smile and a "no problem." Dessert Wise, this dairy queen is just like every other (which is great of course), However this one also has good food. For one this one runs cheap daily specials on something (food wise) and also have good lunch meal deals. Had the onion rings, which are really good ( might be top 10 in the area), fries here are OK, chicken tenders are great here (taste real similar to Arby's), and they also have a really good double cheeseburger. What a complete waste of calories. After seeing the S'mores commercials we knew trying the new blizzard flavor was going to happen sooner or later and there's no time like the present. We came to this location fairly late, around 9:30. The place was very busy and there were about ten employees standing around doing nothing with one or two at the registers. Looking around, I'm not sure why the employees felt like they had nothing to do. The place was filthy. When paying for my blizzard I set my wallet on a spot of chocolate syrup. You're telling me not one of those employees could grab a rag and wash off the counters? We had the Oreo S'Mores blizzards and the build up really did not match to the delivery. Upon handing me my blizzard, the employee delivering it to me turned it upside-down quickly with a really displeasing look on her face. Yes, I know it's late and you want to go home, but what about a smile, eh? The blizzard itself was too much. The Oreo and S'mores flavors didn't go well with each other and all the good stuff (graham crackers, chocolate) were congealed at the bottom of the cup. I don't normally write bad reviews, but I have given this location multiple chances. After many bad experiences today pushed me over the edge. I went in here today and asked for 2 dipped cones. The lady dipped it 3 times and couldn't seem to get it right, but still gave it to me dripping down her hand and didn't seem to think there was anything wrong with handing a customer poor quality product that her hands had contaminated. She added some advice that I go get a napkin so it wouldn't drip down my hand as well. How helpful. I almost asked her to redo it, but I was disgusted with the choices. We had lunch on Thursday July 18 at the DQ on Washtenaw in Ypsilanti. The service girl at the counter was rude. When we came in she was resting with her elbows on the counter. I asked what flavors of soda she had. She didn't know the flavors of soda offered but said they sold coke. I asked her again for the flavors and she said there was a machine for self service. Then she told us what the flavors were. She never smiled or said thank- you. She didn't wear a hat to covert her long ponytail She didn't know if DQ had the fish sandwich or not. She sold us the combos when we wanted the kids meals. When I asked her about it she told me I ordered the combo. I asked her who the manager was and she pointed him out to me and told me that he couldn't do anything. I told her to ask him to come over to our table when he had a minute. I ordered a chicken strip basket to go and I get that we are dealing with coronavirus but they were definitely not understaffed or super busy. They didn't give me the ranch or gravy I asked for which is fine, whatever. But what really threw me off is when I picked up my toast and it's literally just two pieces of white bread... not toasted at all (not to mention it was everyone's least favorite-- the butt end!)
