Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures, but Daisy Mae's a quaint little restaurant. It does not stay open for long, I think until about 3pm so you may want to go early to try the food. I purchased the Blackened Alligator Po' Boy. This was my first time trying Alligator, it was ok. Very hefty sandwich. The alligator was a bit salty. I came here really just to try their Po'Boy. We literally just picked up our food and went straight our Air BnB. Upon opening the bag we discover that our pancake order came with no syrup. My brother has to drive 5 minutes (while losing a parking space in the CBS) to a store and BUY syrup. We also discovered that our seafood omelette came with no shrimp. This place was so good that we came here twice, back to back. It was walking distance from our hotel but also surrounded by several parking choices. When we came this restaurant had not been open for very long and was still labeled "hot and new" on Yelp. The first day we both ordered the eggs your way, one with hashbrowns, one with grits, both with sausage, both with biscuits, and we shared an order of pancakes. Their biscuits are very large, and very fluffy on the inside. As southern girls we know our way around some biscuits. They were a perfect accompaniment to the traditional sausage gravy. The portions were very generous and were a great value. The second day we ordered biscuits and gravy topped with sausage, and the country style eggs Benedict. The previous day that we came I saw someone at the table next to us with the country style eggs Benedict and asked him what it was. Before then, I had never had any kind of eggs Benedict and this one was an experience. There was a biscuit split open, topped with a sausage patty, poached egg, and gravy. Be warned, this dish is very, very, rich but very good. I feel like the eggs were a touch over poached but it didn't subtract from the experience. Next time we are in New Orleans, we will definitely be back at Daisy Mae's. Also, we didn't order the chicken and waffles but it seems like a very popular dish and looked very good. We came in for breakfast at about 10:45am. No one acknowledged us at the door. We are a large party and I understand that we're not the easiest to accommodate, but the fact that no one even said hello for about 15 minutes was a rough start. Our server, Khdeijtna, was the least friendly person we've encountered in the city. Food took almost an hour to come out to us, the restaurant had just cleared out, and we all ordered breakfast food which should've been pretty simple. All of our food came out cold and soggy. My husband ordered a breakfast sandwich and the bread was not even toasted and there was just American cheese slapped on top of the bread, not warm or melted at all. It looked like prison food (pictured below). She held us hostage at the table while we waited to pay our bill. There is an automatic 18% gratuity added on to parties of 5+, so we felt that really impacted the lack of service we received. I would have left way more if the service was great, but I honestly wish I could leave less. read more

I wish I could give this place more stars, and if I was only rating the food I would, but the atmosphere, the cleanliness, and the service were all lackluster. Our receipt said the server was Khdeitjna M, but I'm not sure we ever got her name. However, it took forever to get our order in and then it seemed like forever waiting. Additionally, as we sat there, I watched multiple times where servers were bringing out food to tables and it was not their order! This alone made me hesitant about what food I would receive (I did receive what I ordered thankfully). The counter top we sat at was sticky and had spilled liquid still on it. The servers were using it as a menu drop off/pick up spot, and I had to use my own napkin and water from my glass (before drinking it) to clean up enough that my skin wasn't sticking to the tabletop. Our server did not check on us once during the meal, only coming by when it was time to collect payment. Considering we were sitting right where the servers were congregating over and over, it was a bit surprising that she couldn't muster up a "how's the food" or "need anything else" during that time. I wavered back and forth on whether to give this two stars or three. The food saved this review from being two stars. I came in after a Saints game on a Sunday with my brother and it was pretty full but had empty seats at the bar and one empty table. The sign when you walk in says "Please wait to be seated". So we waited. And waited. And waited more. 3 different waiters passed us by and just looked at us without saying a word. Not even a "someone will be with you shortly" just glances. I don't know if they had an actual host/hostess or what. But we were starving and Walk-Ons wasn't serving food (eyeroll) and Reginelli's next-door was packed. So FINALLY the man working the bar came from around and asked if we'd like to sit at the bar. So we did. This was about 10-13 minutes after we arrived and were standing in the door being awkwardly stared at by waiters and customers alike. So we finally get seated and get our waters. Then it takes the fella forever to come and get our order. I ordered the chicken tenders basket with fries and my brother ordered a veggie omelet with cheese grits. That is not what we received. After waiting about 30 minutes, we were brought out a chicken wing basket and a veggie omelet with hash browns. I sent mine back. My brother decided to keep his because he was so hungry. I waited another 8 minutes or so and finally got my tenders. They were very good and hot and fresh (as they should be). They had a good amount of seasoning and weren't over fried. The fries were good as well. The biscuit that came with it was very flaky. My brother also said him omelet was very yummy and full of shrimp. And he said the hash browns were great. The server did apply his employee discount for the mishap with the food so I really did appreciate that. He was a very nice man. I think their service definitely needs some fine tuning but the food is good and it's a cute little spot so I believe they'll be fine. I would return to give it another shot. read more

This is known to be a really good breakfast/brunch place. We were there for a late lunch. Even though they serve breakfast all day, we decided to go with the fried chicken. The piece were big and came out hot. There is a lot of breading with some seasoning, but it tasted like the meat was either marinated or injected with crab boil. So it has an different flavor then traditional fried chicken. I didn't care for it. But someone might. The biscuits were over cooked and hard as a rock.
