My relatives from San Diego brought me here after their teenage kids spent three days at my residence - since they're on summer break (I cleaned for two days afterwards- lol). My first time here which is shocking since they've been here for decades andI used to visit this strip mall when the 7 Leaves was here - but closed down. The place is relatively small and dated but my cousins say they have the best dry noodles with broth on the side. I let my cousin order me a bowl less the intestines. It had a variety of meats, calamari and paired well with the fried long donut and hot broth. I couldn't believe how packed this hole in the wall gets even on a Monday mid-morning. Parking lot is small tho, so if there isn't any spots, you should park around the block/neighborhood areas. Okay okay okay, this is a hidden gem for sure. I came here with a big group of people, and I was the last one done, because I just had to savor it. This place is a treat. We came by right at open, and we were seated right away. Relatively simple menu. Really, you're here for the noodles. Either yellow egg noodles, or white rice noodles. I opted for the white hu tieu dac biet, dry and large. It was a big bowl of noodles with liver, pork meat, squid, fish cake, pork fat, chives, and more! It was awesome. It comes with a thick sauce that you've gotta mix into your bowl. Vinegar and chili oil optional...but not actually optional, in my opinion. Mix it all up, and add some of the broth that it comes with for lubrication, and bam. You're ready to eat. The first bite was divine. Wow, such simplicity. All of the salinity and flavor comes from the sauce, fat, vinegar, and chili oil. Everything else seems pretty much boiled, but that wasn't a problem for me at all. Great sauce and great flavor. This is an example of Vietnamese food that is just underrepresented in today's culture. Come by for something different, but just as comforting! read more

This is the 2nd Vietnamese dry noodles I've ever tried. And I like this spot better than the first more popular one because this place was more flavorful. It was a bit difficult to place an order over the phone due to language barrier. A lady first answered and was speaking Vietnamese, then we couldn't understand each other so she hung up. Called again and this time a man answered who spoke English. We had a little difficulty in the end trying to understand him when he was asking if we wanted a small or a large size. But we eventually understood it and was able to place the order. They do take cards but know that there is a .75 cent charge. My husband said the place was packed even a few hours after lunch hour. This is a Vietnamese, Chinese inspired, egg noodle spot. The mi or egg noodles here are bomb. The interior is nothing crazy. It's a hole in the wall. It's definitely not the cleanest or nicest looking restaurant but the food here is incredible. Service is shakey, it's better if you are Vietnamese or know someone that speaks Vietnamese but you'll still be ok. Personally, I care more about the food than anything. My favorite is the Mi Dac Biet or the House Special Yellow noodle. You can have it dry or with soup, your choice. I like both but I usually opt for the dry one. The dish is very flavorful and comforting. There is a good amount of seafood and meat, making it a filling meal. That brown sauce that coats everything is just amazing. I usually add some of those green chili's provided at the table. I love the little side soup that comes with this dish so that I can wash everything down. We came in at 2 PM on a weekday and it was still packed (with a ton of Viet aunties inside). Service is to the point and prompt. So by the time time our noodles came I completely forgot to take the pictures. This is a small hole in the wall noodle restaurant. Imagine a restaurant in China town, that's the ambience. The noodle are freshly made. They give you a generous amount of noodles and the seafood, and reasonable price. I recommend this restaurant for the delicious noodles. My last order was disappointing. I got a regular hu tieu with thin noodles, mixed proteins, and added beef balls. When I bit into the beef ball, it tasted strange--at first, I thought maybe that's just how it was, but on the second bite, it was definitely sour. I told the restaurant, but they didn't seem to care. Even though I couldn't eat the beef ball, I was still charged extra for it. Plus, they only accept cash or add extra fees for card payments. They should be giving discounts for selling food that isn't fresh.
