Been coming here for awhile now. For the milpitas area, this place is my favorite for Banh Mi. I usually get the shredded chicken (#18). Price wise, it'll cost you from 2.50 to 2.75. I've also tried the banh cuon, its pretty good, but nothing that blew me away. The reason i like the banh mi here compared to other places in milpitas is because of the bread and overall taste. The bread is nice and warm, unlike other places where the bread is stale and hard. they put a lot of juicy shredded chicken inside, with some mayo and some type of sauce that i can't pinpoint (maybe just soy sauce). combined with fresh vegetables and you got a quick, easy, and cheap lunch. I also noticed they have many noodle soups from egg to white noodles all for less then 7 bucks....so cheap....will definitely come back and try em! read more

I ordered Grilled Beef Sandwich $2.50. It was super good. Better than Lee's sandwich.

The food quality and consistency here is good. We've been here several times and usually get a rice dish or dry noodle dish. Not fancy but better than fast food and definitely better tasting. People taking orders and serving food are friendly,combine that with decently priced food and you have a consistent go to place for good eats. read more

Wow. Total hole in the wall with great food and very friendly service. Got a noodle bowl with beef wraps. Good portion, very tasty flavor of the beef wrapped around the vegetables. Just enough mint in the lettuce mix to keep it tasty and unlike other places you don't just get a massive amount of shredded lettuce to take up space. The sandwiches here are only second to Huong Lan down street. Their sandwiches stayed the same and their prices are still pretty decent for something that fills you up. The specialty here is the Banh Mi Bi (pork that is sliced up very thin), but if you aren't big on their whole fish sauce, tell them since they douse the sandwich with it. Surprisingly, the porridge here is pretty good as well as the Mi Quang. If you don't mind sitting down in a somewhat dirty place, then this a pretty good deal. read more

after living near state and almost living off of dakao in downtown, i was sad to part ways with the $2.75 sandwiches when i moved up the peninsula. luckily, i was in the milpitas area one afternoon and decided to bring some home. the sandwiches tasted as good as i remembered them to be. the three stars though? it's for the lack of service. i'm not expecting them to wait on me but good god, the lady behind the counter was more angry than the grumpy man that works at the sj location. and they got my order wrong. so minus stars for them. read more

Cheap and Delicious!!! Best words to describe their Vietnamese sandwiches. I tried their thit nuong (grilled pork)and Nem nuong sandwiches and both were yummy in the tummy!! Bread was crisp and meat was flavorful. I have tried so many other Vietnamese sandwich places , but this place serves best sandwiches and at much cheaper price. Only $3!! This is a great quick place to grab a Vietnamese sandwich. They load up the sandwich with veggies and meat. I like the fact that they don't slop on a ton of mayonnaise like other Vietnamese sandwich places. I also got a red bean shake. It was tasty but I don't recommend getting pearls with it. Somehow the pearls freeze up with the ice and becomes hard and lose the chewy texture that we're used to. read more

I really love Vietnamese sandwiches and I love coming to this place! There's a variety of different, traditional snacks out on display here for affordable prices. I usually order a regular tofu vietnamese bang mi sandwich. It's delicious! I highly recommend everyone tries it! The workers work quickly and they even remember my order. They make the sandwiches pretty fast and it's a wonderful lunchtime delight! If you get the chance, you should also try their almond boba drink, as well! It's really sweet and delicious--it definitely hits the spot! I usually get both the sandwich and the drink for under 6 bucks--what a deal! In the years that I've been going here (more than 10 years), I have never seen or heard of any major sanitary issues with their food. The servers are always friendly and the food is always very good and reasonably priced. This place is definitely my go to for Pho and Bun mi. read more

Cheap but the sandwich wasn't that tasty. The bbq pork was dry and only 3-4 thin slices were in the filling.

I go to Dakao maybe one or twice a week. truth is the food is great i love it my self and its a good price always averages out to 10 dollars for a lot of food. the reason i give it 4 stars and not 5 is because i feel that the employees are racist or just always angry, so if u don't care if they mug you check it out the food is good. #13 # 17 check it out, and the sandwiches are only 3 dollars and are good. read more

I decided to go here since I was in town for the weekend. I wanted something warm and crunchy. So I bought a bbq pork Vietnamese sandwich, the #1 sand which, and a Thai tea pearl drink. I give it a one star because the sand which was way too salty and had no flavor. The second sandwich had too much of the paste in it and was plain nasty. & on top of that she gave me the wrong change. By the time I realize I was at the corner and had to but a u-turn to go back. I explained to them they short me $10 and they kept making excuses. But in the end they gave me the money. I would not recommend this place. read more

Maybe 5 stars is a little too much but after visiting California and going to Chinatown in SFO and then a couple places in San Jose Viet community and not being the least bit impressed, this place really impressed us and here's why... everything was fresh and fresh made, just plain delicious. I had a Banh Mi with head ham and pate, wow really good and fresh veggies. Wife had spring rolls and about half way through without saying a word we both ordered it all over again and had doubles. Affordable and good sandwiches. Also recommend the broken rice plates (com tam), big portion and pretty good value too. Don't recommend getting the packaged food late afternoon, better check the packaged date. Dakao2 is one of the reasons why Blue Ginger can't survive in this plaza. My first experience with vietnamese sandwiches was "Lee's Sandwiches". How that skewed my experience! But this isn't a review about that place...rather it's about Dakao! But since I did mention Lee's, I am now going to draw comparisons. Don't get me wrong, the sandwiches at Lee's are decent--but nothing else is good there. Dakao's has many side items sitting around much like Lee's, but the difference is that Dakao's doesn't only do delicious sandwiches. I've had only the spring rolls, but they were tasty. Try any thing other than sandwiches at Lee's, and you will be greatly disappointed! Now, about the sandwiches: Dakao's bread is much better. And even though the bread is a supporting cast member and not the star--the bread always makes a huge difference if it's that good! I've tried the #1 (Head cheese, pate, don't be scared--it's good), and I love it because of the pate. I've also had the #14 (Grilled pork) which is also Heavenly! And I have to agree with the eliter, Jen S. that the pickles are tasty. This is the place to go for Vietnamese sandwiches! I haven't been here for a few years but decided to stop and get banh mi the other day. I used to frequent this place over ten years ago. I am so glad they have not changed! The sandwiches are just like I remember. My favorite is the #14 grilled pork banh mi. I have never ordered any of their plates and I always order for take out. The staff is friendly and polite. I also love their shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce (mmmmmm!). Also, their eggrolls are yummy. Back in the day, the banh mi was only $1.25! Now it will cost you $2.50 but still a good price for a great sandwich. The only negative is that it is CASH ONLY! After all these years, they still only take cash! To make things worse, there are no ATMs in the entire plaza area. I am so glad this place is still around and will continue to stop and grab a bite to eat when I am in the area! read more

They have the best Vietnamese spring rolls!! Ever! The wrapper that they use to make them are super soft. When I think of spring rolls, I think of this place no doubt. I think its $3.50 for three pieces with the peanut butter based dipping sauce. I eat the shrimp with BBQ pork filled ones. mmmmm.... oink. Love the shrimp rolls from this place. Parking is a pain since the spaces are so small and you can't bearly get out the car. Even with this I still love to come here for Vietnamese sandwiches and shrimp rolls. read more
