i tried the matcha latte and the hojicha einspanner here. the matcha latte had the perfect level of sweetness & the matcha shined through. the hojicha einspanner was so decadent & had a lovely, strong hojicha flavor. the interior is absolutely stunning & perfect for working / studying or a casual hangout! definitely a solid matcha staple in la!
10, 10, 10s across the board! I was doing PT around the corner and stopped in for a latte with a friend and it was DIVINE! The spot is serene, the vibes were lovely, and the staff was kind! The lattes were even better! We did the cold brew with vanilla cream too and an oatmilk einspanner latte with cream top. Loved that there's different seating areas and options and saw a few outlets. Parking was an adventure but in the arts district it often is they have a discount code for the lot across from it. Will def be back!
Damo has arguably some of my favorite matcha in LA! I usually frequent their Ktown location, but lately I've been loving their Arts District location - it's so spacious and has plenty of seating and free wifi. The space itself has a modern, peaceful, and elegant vibe. I most recently got the matcha einspanner (less sweet) but subbed it with strawberry cream and oh boy this is one delicious drink! I love the strawberry matcha combination, and their matcha is consistently good quality. I've also gotten their hojicha einspanner and it's delicious too! Parking is street parking (which can be a bit of a challenge) or a paid lot across the street.
Loved the rustic and minimalist design - plenty of seating and trendy decor to photograph your drink against. Service was quick and we all received our orders within 5 min. I liked how thick and creamy the matcha was, but the aftertaste was a bit too astringent for my taste. If you enjoy strong, not too sweet matcha lattes, Damo is for you!
Food/Drinks: 8/10 Service: 9/10 Ambiance: 9/10 so this is a new location for Damo and honestly because I saw so many Instagram posts about how great the macho was. I was really excited for it. It wasn't bad but for me personally the Matcha profile wasn't my favorite but overall, I think the café was really nice. I've had Tom before in their OG location and there. Coffee is really good. This new location though is really big and comparison to the one in Ktown, so it's a nice place to get work done especially because they have a big table in the middle of the café where a lot of people can sit down and get work done together. Just a little disappointed on the Matcha, but it is a deep taste and I am willing to come back again.
This was my first time trying this location. I ordered the matcha einspanner- the matcha flavor was strong and I really enjoyed it. However, while I was drinking it, I found a small piece of wood in my drink. I'm guessing it may have come from the wooden whisk used to prepare the matcha. It was a bit concerning, but I wanted to share my experience.
This is the 2nd Damo location and the original Damo location is located in Koreatown. DAMO is one of many modern and trendy coffee and tea spots that focuses on einspener drinks. [Parking]: There's a parking structure across the store for $5 per hour. Otherwise free street parking is the next best option, but visitors will probably need to circle around the neighborhood. I found a free street parking spot near Mateo St & E 4th Pl (on the bridge). [Atmosphere]: This location is a lot more spacious than the flagship shop in Koreatown ... and yet all tables were still occupied on Saturday afternoon. Sleek and modern interior decor. [Menu]: Their best selling drinks are any of their matcha drinks - Matcha Latte, Matcha Einspanner, and Strawberry Matcha Latte. Unfortunately their signature da-gwa (assorted Korean traditional snacks) was still not available and that was a sign stating "coming soon" as of January 2026. *** Hojicha Einspener (iced hojicha tea + hojicha cream - $7): It was a light and refreshing drink. The drink was a bit watery, but I could still taste hojicha flavor. *** Personally Hojicha Einspener didn't taste as good as Matcha Einspener. The only plus I see for this location is bigger space ... free parking didn't get easier, da-gwa was not available at this location (yet), and all tables were stationed by customers who are here to study. Great vibe for a coffee date or hanging out with friends, but I see this spot as more of a grab-and-go shop during busy hours with nothing interesting to see in the surrounding blocks (Arts District has always been a hit-and-miss area).
Such a cool matcha spot! I visited the Koreatown location a few years ago but forgot what it tasted like haha. This spot was so good though!! It's really spacious and seemed like a great study spot seeing how many customers were working there. The decor is beautiful and unique as well. As for the matcha, it was so yummy. If you prefer matcha that isn't super sweet I recommend this spot. I typically like my matcha on the sweeter side but this was delicious nonetheless.
Aesthetic cafe in the Arts District, but was a bit disappointed with how my drink turned out since I had a good experience at the Ktown location. I got the Hojicha Einspanner and it was decent. The best part was the Hojicha cream top which was creamy and flavorful. However, the Hojicha drink itself was too watery for my liking. Even mixed with the cream it was still too watery. Would've liked more Hojicha flavor. Interior is big and spacious. Great for big groups. There's also WiFi and outlets. Parking is street parking only. I think I would visit again, but probably order something else.
This location is so cute! Haven't been to the ktown location but the interior is so sleek and modern. Also makes me feel like I'm back in Korea. The place is pretty big. They have a good amount of tables and I see lots of people out with their laptops too. Came on a Sunday afternoon and there was a line but only really took about 10-15 min. Got the matcha latte which was pretty good! Not too sweet or bitter. I do want to try the matcha einspanner next time! Parking: street parking
Damo oh how I love thee. You will undoubtedly live rent free in my mind for many many moons. Love the minimalist Japanese aesthetic. Love the community style seating. Love the vibe. Absolutely loved my matcha einspener. The service was typical LA - nothing extraordinary but also nothing horrible. My matcha einspener with almond milk hit +$8 which these days is a bit normal yet also mind blowing. Street parking is luck of the draw depending on time & day and your patience levels. Already planning my next detour to Damo. read more
My friend and I tried the matcha strawberry cold foam drink and it was so good. I really liked the authenticity of it. The shop is huge, has a lot of space, and has a large chalkboard table in the center and feels very family style. It's minimalistic interior & they allow you to bring your fur babies. I saw so many dogs inside! read more
I had no idea that Damo opened a new location besides their Koreatown cafe, but I was drawn there for a meet-and-greet signing* with Keshi before his L.A. performance of his Requiem tour. I found free parking about a block away near this recreation center/apartment complex (?) with no parking signs, assembled my work bag, and arrived into the clean, minimalist cafe to order. The drink of choice was a strawberry matcha einspanner with easy ice and almond milk--PERFECT choice for a day that eventually got really hot!--but they have a lot of amazing options. There is also a lobby with a large mirror with some couches and a tree table/stool, friendly service, some pastries, free Wi-Fi, a restroom in the back, and a long table for people to work as well as a waiting area with cushions. *Waiting outside for Keshi's signing didn't impact my actual review of the cafe, but it would have been nice for the workers there to offer cold water around the peak hours of heat because a lot of us waiting in the long, long line were super hot and didn't want to leave their spots in line. I love how clean and minimal this place is. They have long tables for everyone to sit together, but not in a weird way. I think the service was good and you can't go wrong with any drink on the menu. I will say they need to pay more attention in their restrooms. They are filthy !! People are so nasty sometimes. I wouldn't shit in their restroom - that's how nasty they are. read more

Been a big fan of Damo in Ktown as their tea's surely high quality ones. You could totally tell when the place has been constantly busy since the early hype opening days up until today. It's always kinda annoying when you feel like having it yet need to stand in the long line just to grab a cup. Not to mention the Ktown outlet's kinda petite so unless you're coming on weekday, it would be so so hard to get a seat. Thankfully, they recently expand into Downtown with much bigger space. The venue gives that industrial vibe and in a way looks like a co-working space setup with large sharing tables. As you can imagine, having bigger space doesn't mean it's quieter at all. Still long line but good news they can accommodate more guests for seat-in. The venue's nonetheless packed with people sitting on their laptops and you can see not moving for hours. The menu offered is pretty much similar to Ktown one, and TBH everything on their menu don't fail. My dynamic duo from there will defo be their matcha and hojicha. Those like cream top, go for the Einspanner. Super bold tea flavor without bothering earthy taste at all. The nibbles are kinda pricey for the size. Recently I tried the Mugwort financier and it's just okay IMHO, nothing that special to call out. Will stick with the drink! read more
Glad they opened a new spot in the arts district! Spacious and aesthetically pleasing interior! Can't go wrong with any of their drinks. I believe their regular sweetness is perfect! My friends and I got drinks in regular sweetness and half sweetnesses. Personally, I'd go half sweet with the einspanners as the cream top makes up / adds sweetness to the drink. Their hojicha and matcha lattes are good halfsweet jf you want to enjoy the more natural taste of the product, but the regular sweetness is perfect as well! The drink tasted a lot more enjoyable / addicting to drink, but it was not overwhelmingly sweet as a dessert-like drink would be. Damo's got the best matcha in LA! read more

Support your local small businesses! Love that this place opened up in Arts District. They're currently closed on Tuesday's and Wednesday's. Very spacious interior with a super friendly staff. Street parking is limited but there's a parking lot across the street or additional structures within a block of walking distance. Our group tried the following: -Strawberry Einspanner: Very good - tastes like fresh strawberry milk with strawberry jam and a creamy top. No caffeine in this one. -Einspanner Latte: also good, not too sweet and still creamy. -Hojicha Einspanner: The best drink we tried. Hojicha base with Hojicha cream top. It's like nothing I've ever tried - highly recommend this one! Definitely will come back soon! read more
I liked it! Their matcha is a blend from different farmers they said. Their hojicha is good. I'd get that over the matcha here. Good space Big table to study I like that it's not in ktown so I don't have to drive far. They don't have much food yet but I'm sure they'll add more soon read more

i am sooo happy i discovered damo because i absolutely obsessed with this place! one of my favorite places to grab a matcha! whenever i am in the area i have to stop by damo, its a must! i stopped by to damo last Saturday & got myself their chocolate forest matcha. the chocolate cold foam on top is SOO GOOD! i love love love it! the matcha drink itself was perfectly balanced and i love that the cold foam was touching the rim of the cup w/ a nice touch of matcha & chocolate powder to give it that yummy visually aesthetically pleasing look!! the drink tasted as good as it looks! read more
Cute cafe located in the Arts District -- cool decor (minimalist, wood, chrome, etc.) and a decent amount of seating to hang out with friends or to study at. There was a lofi DJ there as well. Service is friendly and drinks are made to order so you have to wait a little longer than other spots. Tried the hojicha einspanner and enjoyed the smooth, toasty flavor. What makes their einspanner special is that the cream on top is hojicha flavored instead of just cream or vanilla flavor. read more

So excited that Damo opened a location a lot closer to home! I arrived first about 40 minutes after soft opening day, and there was a good amount of people already, so I waited in line a bit before ordering. Matcha Latte - got mine with whole milk & loved that I can taste the matcha, and that it wasn't too sweet! Hojicha Einspanner - personally for me, I'd mix up the drink that way I can get a better overall taste instead of sipping. Other than that, I really enjoyed the roasted flavor and pairing with the coffee. Also not too sweet either! I also got to try a small cake sample, and I believe it had mugwort in it, and it tasted so good!! It would definitely be a great pairing with coffee. The workers are also super friendly and welcoming. I didn't order any adjustments to my drinks so it's nice to know I don't have to worry much about sweetness. The entire space is also very large, and great to hangout and do some study or work. Parking may be a bit of a pain but I think it's worth it to try this spot. read more

This place was stop two on my LA Matcha Tour and it did NOT disappoint! I absolutely loved the esthetic of the place. Open, laid back, neutral vibes! My matcha and pastry were divine! got an oat matcha latte here, and it was high quality matcha. they don't skimp on it either. the space is industrial and minimal as you'd expect in the arts district. spacious with lots of seating. street parking was plentiful but it was xmas day. order came out very fast! read more

Really liked this place. The vibes inside are super nice and it's a great spot to just sit and hang out. Service was fast and everyone was friendly. The matcha was really good--smooth and not too bitter at all. Overall just a really solid spot in LA, I'd definitely come back. read more
This Damo in the Arts District is one of my favorite cafes to visit. It's just an okay study spot since it is usually pretty busy and loud, but the Hojicha and Matcha Einspanner are both really delicious. I love how earthy and nutty the Hojicha tastes, and the cream top adds the perfect amount of sweetness. Definitely check this place out if you're near the Arts District. read more

Parking can be hectic but a gorgeous expansion for Damo. Very aesthetically please and spacious at this location! Staff were also very swift and quick when it came to churning out the lattes as well. Def recommend this spot but or has to be lucky with parking or grab and go read more
Excellent excellent matcha until the last drop. Perfect matcha to milk proportions, strong, earthy flavor, can't ask for anything more. Loved the location, the design, would've liked some food options, but it's a tea house and there are plenty of other spots in the Arts District to go for that. They let us bring our bikes in. Lots of room to sit and enjoy your drink without feeling rushed. I arrived early enough that it was easy to find parking. I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and noticed that it's a great space to go alone or bring company. I'll definitely return. I often get their matcha but tried the hojicha Einspanner and was happy that no matter what beverage you order here, it's guaranteed to be delicious. read more

Went around a saturday morning and parking was a bit hard to find. There is only street parking or a paid parking lot. If I remember correctly, it was $5 for 15 minutes. There wasn't a line when i arrived but all the seats in the cafe were all filled up. I love the aesthetic of the cafe. They do have free wifi if you do on planning to study here, but the outlets might be limited if you are not sitting at a mini table. I think their matcha is aight. I personally think that the matcha from the other damo location taste better than this location. read more

First time trying Damo and I can see the hype. Ordered the matcha einspanner with oat milk and it was delicious. I love the quality of their matcha and that cream top was perfect. It's also a great portion size. The inside was very spacious and minimalist. Great spot to meet with a friend or go solo and get some work done. Only downside is the parking in arts district can be tough. Aside from that, I'd definitely come back! read more

Love the space! Plenty of seating and the feel of the shop is calming and airy. Visited during their soft opening and got lucky to be welcomed with no line. The cashier was friendly! Ordered a matcha latte and a latte einspanner. The matcha had strong flavors poking through. Overall, great space! Excited to try the hojicha latte next time. read more

Omg I loved their matcha so hard. I tried my friends but I also got their hojicha & it was very rich!! The cream top was def one of my faves! They're also dog friendly!! They gave my puppy a treat & she loved it so much! The shop gives warehouse vibes but that's kind of the aesthetic of the place tbh. There was plenty of street parking and the interior was so modern and clean! The matcha was 10/10! It wasn't too sweet and you could actually taste the matcha which I enjoy. This is an authentic matcha cafe and I appreciated the quality matcha tea. Service was good and the barista recommended a drink for me since it was my first time. read more
