To be honest i was disappointed with the matcha... Why is this so hyped? I definitely prefer rok, airoma, vivot
I went to Damo around 2pm on a weekend, and the line was already starting to form out the door. Unfortunately, the line takes up a majority of the cafe space, along with the few sitting tables, so it was pretty difficult to find a spot to wait for my drink after ordering. The pickup area can also get blocked by the line or waiting area, which can make it a little awkward when you're trying to reach over someone to grab your drink. I ordered the Coconut Hojicha and the Matcha Einspanner. The Coconut Hojicha was refreshing, nutty, and definitely the standout of the two. It's such a fun twist on the typical matcha coconut drink, and I have to give Damo their flowers for creating something that feels unique. The Matcha Einspanner wasn't particularly stand-out compared to some of the other cafes in K-Town, but it was still a well-balanced drink with a nice mix of bitterness, sweetness, and creaminess. I can definitely see why so many people consider Damo one of their favorite cafes. Despite the crowded setup, the drinks are creative and thoughtfully done!
Absolutely obsessed with the Hojicha Coconut! This drink is DIVINE, so refreshing, creamy, and delicious. I could literally drink 10 of these! It's definitely a must-try, and I already can't wait to come back for another one. The cakes were just okay for me. I'd probably pass on them next time if I'm just getting something for myself, but they would make a cute gift or present for someone!
Matcha strawberry einspanner really good and creamy You can taste the matcha but it blends beautifully w the strawberry puree and cream top.very crowded when we stopped by. Not enough tables and no one was wiping them down either so it was sticky. Accepted apple pay n cc with no additional surcharge. Drinks came out quick and parking was free.
We ordered the Damo latte - an espresso shot with agave sweetener and the Matcha cream top. The espresso flavor wasn't terribly strong and the matcha tasted alright to me There was a long line of customers and it's a pretty popular Korean drink shop in Koreatown!
Solid matcha place in ktown!! There's so many places around and it's a saturated market so I get the competition... but this place holds its own! Matcha is rich and bold, there's a good amount so it's not weak. Milk ratio is good so it's not diluted at all. The cream top is nice and thick and doesn't melt into the drink! Matcha Cream Top ($7.75)-- I looooove me a nice and thick cream top and this place does it amazingly. It's thick and perfectly sweetened and doesn't melt with the drink/ice. It stays perfectly thick and still and above the matcha unless you mix it in. The matcha is also really nice and rich. None of the bland or grassy taste. Just genuine good matcha! Chocolate Forest ($7.75)-- Basically same as above but the cream on top tastes like Milo/Ovaltine mixed in. It's a nice and sweet nostalgic taste. Not a hint of bitterness so if you want mocha/dark chocolate this is not the one for you. It's more happy kid hot chocolate vibes. Overall I really like this place for their matcha and would get it again. Pricing is steep but all good matcha goes for around $8 nowadays. Theres a shared parking lot (free if you go in the afternoon) but otherwise street parking.
got the strawberry matcha!! the cream top was delicious and so glad it didn't make the entire matcha drink heavy bc i just wanted something sweet and refreshing! the service was nice and quick! got my drink within 5-7 mins after ordering!! the inside was on the smaller side and it got busy/crowded fast so recommend getting your drinks to go!
I stopped by DAMO and ordered a matcha latte. The matcha had a vibrant, earthy flavor that was stronger than most matcha places I've been to. I appreciated the quality of the tea, and the matcha powder and cream on top was not too overly sweet. My friend and I were able to enjoy our drinks inside the shop, as there were plenty of tables available for people to chat with friends or study or work inside.
Visited this spot on a Wednesday at noon and they constantly had a flow of customers coming in and out. There's only a handful of tables and chairs with some stool seating against the front window. Ordered a matcha latte and I kind of regret not adding the cream foam after, but it was already a $7 cup of matcha. Upon mixing and tasting it left a bitter aftertaste so I didn't really enjoy it. I added two packs of raw sugar to try and alter it but I probably should have asked for sweetener or cream top because it still left a bitter aftertaste. Service was lackluster, not warm and friendly, but pretty straightforward. I was able to snag a parking spot in the lot but it wasn't plentiful as the plaza is busy shared with the salt bread shop.

My new favorite spot for decadent matcha and hojicha drinks! The cream top on the hojicha einspanner was so creamy and thick, and it was also the perfect level of sweetness. The strawberry matcha einspanner was also yummy and had a great presentation The space is pretty small but there are a few seats available. The line was around 20 minutes long on a Saturday afternoon. Like most spots in ktown, the parking lot is limited and you'll likely need to find street parking, but it is definitely worth the hype!
This was our last stop of our mini cafe tour when leaving LA and headed back home. We came shortly after opening, so there was plenty of parking and it wasn't crazy crowded yet. Upon entering the place is clean, sleek, and modern. We were greeted right away. I already knew I was leaving with 2 drinks for the drive back home. I ordered: 1. Cold brew vanilla: Delicious, I love that tou can see the vanilla cream on top. This was definitely what I needed to wake me up. 2. Matcha einspener: I tasted this and immediately loved it when leaving the store. I saved it for last. It was so light and refreshing. I could easily drink it all day if they had a bigger size lol. I was hoping to try the seasonal mango cream matcha, but sadly it was gone. 3. Pastries: I wanted to try the sampler but I don't thinking they had it yet. I tried one of the cinnamon pastries. It was soft and very cinnamony. Overall, it was a great experience and I'll be back soon.

This place is amazing! The coffee with Einspnener is really good! And the coffee with tonic has a very unique taste. Both are a must try as well as their matcha drinks! read more
Located in a plaza with several other business is a pro and con. There's a large lot but can be tough to get lucky with parking. Came in around 11AM on a Saturday and the cafe was crowded but not much of a line. Interior was bright and clean. Staff is really nice as well. I ordered the Matcha Einspenner and it was delicious! It wasn't too sweet and not too bitter, it was perfect! I would come back again if I was in the area. read more
I was staying at my friend's place down the street and always saw a long line for DAMO. Curious, I finally walked over to try it out and loved my Hojicha Einspener (stirred Hojicha tea and Hojicha cream). Hojicha can be hard to find, so I was thrilled to see this offered here. Big fan!!! read more

Very busy cafe known for matcha drinks. On Sunday afternoon, we went there to try their matcha latte and hojicha latte for the first time. They were very delicious! I could taste both matcha and hojicha in the drink itself. We usually don't get ice in an iced drink but when we did that here, the drink was only half cup full.... Which was pretty disappointing after paying $7 per drink. So we went back in to add a cream for $1.50. So per drink (small standard size), I paid $8.50!! It's unfortunate they charge so much for a drink when you can get an iced cafe latte at Starbucks for less than $6. Would I recommend this place? Yes since the drinks were delicious but I don't think I would go back here everyday since the price was high. Went back to try strawberry matcha, and it was good! But the price still remained high haha read more
Overall a good experience! I got the strawberry einspanner. I'm a sucker for some good strawberry milk and this was it! So yummy. My boyfriend got the mango matcha cream and it didn't work well for us. Somehow the mango chunks were kind of bitter? It wasn't a great drink overall and there is only cream in it, no milk, so that makes it a little heavier too. I wouldn't recommend that one. The service was fine and the inside is fine but crowded! There's a little parking lot so that's nice. read more
Really aesthetic cafe in koreatown! Very sleek and modern look with a unique but simple menu!! I tried the Chocolate Forest drink which the barista said was the most popular and it was definitely very unique. I was in between that or the chestnut latte which I haven't seen from any other cafe. I wish it had a bit more foam / more sweetness so next time I come I'll ask for that + less ice. There's a good amount of tables and outlets to study and doesn't seem tooo loud to work or too quiet if you want to bring someone over and chat. Parking wasn't too bad at 9am but I could see it getting busier later in the day as it's in a prime spot in koreatown. The baristas are very cute and super friendly!! read more

I've heard about Damo all over social media, and y'all, it's worth the hype! It was my first time trying the trendy einspanner (aka cream top), and it was heavenly. Never mind that I'm lactose-intolerant: I would deal with the pain and order the einspanner again. The matcha einspanner was especially the real deal: not only was the cream top ridiculously thick and sweet, but the matcha itself was also really well-made-- the perfect blend of earthy and sweet. Also love how beautifully-presented it was. Service was nice enough, although I did arrive in the early morning and they were a bit sleepy still? There were a good handful of parking spots at 9am on the weekend, and the place wasn't too busy yet: however, it got busier within the next hour, so I would definitely arrive early to secure a parking spot and not have to wait in line too long. Honestly, I'm hooked on einspanners, and I would come back to Damo for more! read more

Delicious Matcha Einspener (Einspänner) for a reasonable price. Love the extra dusting of matcha powder on top! Wasn't too long of a wait for a Saturday afternoon. A few seating available but was able to find a seat once we got our drinks. Plenty of parking in the plaza. read more
Love the drinks here, especially Mango Cream Matcha and Hojicha Einspener! Come here a few times a week, always leave tips, but employees are not friendly most of the time and not welcoming. Also, I wish it had more seats, since this place usually busy. read more
DAMO is my all time favorite place for Matcha. I am obsessed with their Matcha Einspinner which is the perfect matcha that isn't too sweet and it is topped off with their delicious foam. If you love matcha then you need to go check this place out. The only things I absolutely hate about coming here is their parking situation is so bad. It is super busy and never has parking. I usually have to park across the street somewhere. I haven't tried their waffles yet but I heard they are good. I do want to come back and try that. But definitely get a drink here if you haven't yet. It will have you hooked. I cannot wait to come back. read more
My darling friend is a coffee & tea aficionado, and I pretty much consider her an expert when it comes to the fancy caffeinated beverages. So, when she suggested we meet at DAMO I didn't hesitate to say, "yes." I arrived a bit early and snagged the last available table. Located in the Oxford Center Plaza (KTown) this place is quite popular. The minimalistic décor and clean aesthetic create a relaxing atmosphere, so guests are inclined to enjoy a leisurely stay. About fifteen minutes after my arrival the line was out the door. There were three people behind the counter doing their best to keep up with the flow. Eventually, they got caught up and it was quiet again for about 20 minutes before another lined formed out the door. This cycle continued throughout our 2-hour visit. My friend specifically came here to try the Einspener Latte, which is a latte with a rich cream topping. She ordered the Seasonal Chestnut Latte Einspener ($8.50) & the Strawberry Einspener ($6.75) Another one of our dear friends joined us and she got the Einspener Latte with an extra shot of espresso ($9.50). I thought about ordering one of their specialty teas, which is served in a pretty glass pot, but decided to be more adventurous and went with the Yuzu Espresso Tonic instead ($6.75). Unfortunately, the distinctly unique flavor wasn't for me. My friends both enjoyed their beverages down to the last sip. (The Chestnut was favored over the Strawberry.) The drinks are made with care so be patient. They are also a bit pricey because they are made with quality ingredients. Authentic Korean treats and pastries baked by Clark Street Bakery are also available. *WiFi available *Free parking available in the lot. #126 in my Coffeeshop Chronicles. Located in the heart of ktown, Damo is a small coffeeshop with a minimalist design and a relaxed atmosphere. I met some of my favorite Yelp friends here for a coffee date, and luckily we arrived early enough to grab a table before the crowds came in. I've been wanting to check out Damo for quite some time, ever since I first started seeing photos of their popular cream top coffees. Happy to finally try the aesthetically pleasing drinks, I ordered two - their seasonal chestnut latte einspanner and a strawberry einspanner. I was blown away by the chestnut latte einspanner! The drink was exquisite, with a mellow and well-balanced roast, rich chestnut flavor, and a smooth consistency overall. I also enjoyed the strawberry einspanner, which was essentially a fteshly pureed strawberry milk eith a thick layer of sweet foam. Still, my favorite was most definitely the chestnut latte einspanner. If not for the distance, I would absolutely return to Damo as frequently as possible in order to pick up more of their delicious lattes. ****************** My Ratings: 1 Star: Terrible; just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars: Wasn't a fan so Not likely to return. 3 Stars: Meh. I love a good matcha and am always on the hunt for the best one. So far, DAMO is the BEST matcha I ever had. Their matcha has the perfect balance of the deep matcha flavor and is not too sweet, which is a problem at other places I have tried. I definitely recommend to get the Einspanner if it's your first time here-- it is one of the most memorable drinks I ever had. I know matcha/coffee drink pricing is getting out of hands nowadays but DAMO is worth the money! They don't have that many tables in here, so it is not that great of a study spot... my friend and I did luck out on a countertop table. I came here on a warm Saturday around 1pm for a drink after lunch. Surprisingly, there was no line, which was great since they only took orders manually. Most of the tables in the cage were taken. There were only 2 charging outlet extensions in the store and both were near tables that were already occupied, but luckily I was able to share a table and charge my phone for a bit. I got the hojicha einspener, and it was really really good. This was my first time trying einspener, and I really liked how thick and subtlely sweet the cream was, which really complemented the refreshing and slightly more bitter hojicha. The drink was $7 which was expensive but not out of place in ktown. I think it was definitely worth the price and I would be willing to come back to Damo and get it again. read more
I've tried this boba place before but it has been a long time ever since! I ordered a Strawberry Matcha Latte and tasted solid! Give it a mix and you got yourself one of the best tasting Matcha's you ever have tried! The ambience at this location is so bright and lively. The location is in Koreatown so you'd expect a lot of company coming from the small shops in the plaza or tourists like me. I'd definitely come back and order the same drink! read more
Damo is a small hidden coffee shop tucked away in a small plaza with limited parking. The interior is really nice and the seats are limited so come here early if you're trying to meet up with a friend or to study. The staff was very nice and recommended their eispanner series. I got their hojicha eispanner latte which is a sweet cream top with the hojicha on the bottom. So you sip through the cream so it blends very well. Also not pictured here is there hojicha basque cheesecake which was also only offered on the weekend. There desserts are well thought out and very unique compared to other Korean coffee shops. Overall this place is a solid pick for matcha or hojicha lattes read more

This review is long overdue. We've been to many cafes in Koreatown and Damo is our favorite. We love the Hojicha and Matcha Einspanner. So yum! Line moves pretty quick. Valet will let you park on the side if you're just picking up coffee, at least that's what they said to us. read more

The matcha latte at DAMO is really good and has such a strong, authentic matcha flavor. It's not too sweet, but if you love a bold matcha latte, this is definitely it! The interior is super lovely, though it can get pretty packed, which makes sense given its location in K-town. read more
Incredible coffee, service, and ambience! I was initially drawn to this place because their cream top items look amazing. I ordered 2 lattes and was on my way, until I sipped it and realized I forgot to order oat instead of whole milk (as the most "real milk" I can handle is the cream top portion of my latte). I came back and let the staff know, and to be honest I was willing to pay for another two lattes, but they were extremely kind and replaced them with oat milk without charging me again. This is what I call top tier service.. the girl up front was too sweet. Amazinggg latte by the way! Do yourself a favor and check them out. If you're familiar with Yeems, this places truly gives them a run for their money. read more

Hojicha Einspanner - this is basically hojicha tea topped with lightly sweetened cream so it very light and refreshing. as a first timer, I thought the tea was very similar to Vietnamese green tea (tra xanh) or a green tea with smoky flavor with notes of caramel/roasted nuts. definitely has an earthy aftertaste like matcha. though I really liked it, it might not be for everyone (my friend said it tastes like seaweed T-T). Service - friendly :D depending on when you come, there might be a line but it moves relatively quick! there are a decent number of tables with chairs and some with bar stools. there is definitely a lot of talking since the shop is relatively small. parking is easy has there is a parking lot out in front (no payment required). read more

The service was great! The cashier was so kind and also conversational! He was able to answer my questions about the drinks and was very polite! The interior of the store is also very clean and fresh. There inside is designed very aesthetically and also very modern. I ordered the matcha einspanner. The matcha was good! I would rate it as a 7/10 on the matcha scale. The cream foam was delicious and I wish I had MORE!! The drinks were around $7 but I suppose that is the typical and accepted price these days. The strawberry matcha was enticing because it has real strawberry chunks! However I really wanted to try the einspanner and it didn't disappoint! The wait was also not long at all, it only took 5-8 minutes to receive my drink! The parking lot here is atrocious. I had to get out of the car while my friend just looped in circles the whole time until I had ordered and received the drinks. read more

I've tried so many coffee shops in the area but find myself comparing every latte to DAMO's.... despite this being a tea-focused shop, their DAMO latte tastes high quality and the use of agave as a sweetener is genius. I've been here a couple of times and have not been disappointed. This is my favorite place to get a latte. It's not too acidic, not too bitter, not too sweet, and not too diluted. They also offer milk substitutions. Parking in the plaza is free but can get filled up quickly later in the day. There is also an underground parking to the left side of the plaza as well as some street parking. read more

I tried this place from a recommendation from a friend. We haven't seen each other in a while and wanted to try a new coffee spot out. This friend always had great recommendations for food/drink places so i already knew that i would love it. And i was not disappointed at all. Today i tried out the Matcha Einspener from the baristas recommendation. It was a perfect blend of flavour and sweetness. I have had others similar and were way to sweet for my liking so this one was perfect. The ambiance is very clean modern minimilist. very viby/hipster. Some seeting but its not the most comfortable if you are looking to do work from here for along time. read more

DAMO does cream tops so well and makes an amazing strawberry puree! I've tried their strawberry einspener and strawberry tonic, and they were both so good. I've also had their other lattes and seasonal chestnut einspener, which always hits. Sometimes it's busy, sometimes it's not busy, most of the time it's busy. They have space to sit and study or work. The plaza has a parking lot, but again, it's Koreatown so parking can get bad. read more

I've heard about this place from multiple people and finally got the chance to stop by and try it. This aesthetic cafe is located in k-town conveniently in a plaza (with a parking lot!). I came on a Sunday at 9:30 and while all the tables were filled, the mass of people started coming around 10:30. I ordered their iced matcha einspanner/einspener which seems to be their most popular item and I can see why! The drink was delicious and not too sweet. My friends ordered their hojicha latter and she thought it was average compared to other locations. read more
Went on a Sunday morning, and waited about 15 minutes in line since it was a bit busy. Has a good amount of seating, but may be difficult is it's crowded to grab a seat. Very clean space with great and welcoming customer service. Drinks were delicious! Both the matcha and Hojicha einspanners were delicious! I'm a huge fan of a esthetic looking coffee shop and also hojicha! So when I found out about their specialty drink being hojicha einspanner, I couldn't wait to try it! Einspanner is not a term that we hear everyday at coffee shops and that's what makes it more unique than regular hojicha latte! With delicious house cream on top, and very strong hojicha flavor, I'd definitely come back. There was a long line when I came, but it moves pretty fast. It was pretty crowded too, some people sat down because they ordered like a Korean snack set and waffle, which is something that I'd love to try next time! The store is very clean and I love how they play with light and subtle colors. read more
