To be honest i was disappointed with the matcha... Why is this so hyped? I definitely prefer rok, airoma, vivot
I went to Damo around 2pm on a weekend, and the line was already starting to form out the door. Unfortunately, the line takes up a majority of the cafe space, along with the few sitting tables, so it was pretty difficult to find a spot to wait for my drink after ordering. The pickup area can also get blocked by the line or waiting area, which can make it a little awkward when you're trying to reach over someone to grab your drink. I ordered the Coconut Hojicha and the Matcha Einspanner. The Coconut Hojicha was refreshing, nutty, and definitely the standout of the two. It's such a fun twist on the typical matcha coconut drink, and I have to give Damo their flowers for creating something that feels unique. The Matcha Einspanner wasn't particularly stand-out compared to some of the other cafes in K-Town, but it was still a well-balanced drink with a nice mix of bitterness, sweetness, and creaminess. I can definitely see why so many people consider Damo one of their favorite cafes. Despite the crowded setup, the drinks are creative and thoughtfully done!
Absolutely obsessed with the Hojicha Coconut! This drink is DIVINE, so refreshing, creamy, and delicious. I could literally drink 10 of these! It's definitely a must-try, and I already can't wait to come back for another one. The cakes were just okay for me. I'd probably pass on them next time if I'm just getting something for myself, but they would make a cute gift or present for someone!
Matcha strawberry einspanner really good and creamy You can taste the matcha but it blends beautifully w the strawberry puree and cream top.very crowded when we stopped by. Not enough tables and no one was wiping them down either so it was sticky. Accepted apple pay n cc with no additional surcharge. Drinks came out quick and parking was free.
We ordered the Damo latte - an espresso shot with agave sweetener and the Matcha cream top. The espresso flavor wasn't terribly strong and the matcha tasted alright to me There was a long line of customers and it's a pretty popular Korean drink shop in Koreatown!
Solid matcha place in ktown!! There's so many places around and it's a saturated market so I get the competition... but this place holds its own! Matcha is rich and bold, there's a good amount so it's not weak. Milk ratio is good so it's not diluted at all. The cream top is nice and thick and doesn't melt into the drink! Matcha Cream Top ($7.75)-- I looooove me a nice and thick cream top and this place does it amazingly. It's thick and perfectly sweetened and doesn't melt with the drink/ice. It stays perfectly thick and still and above the matcha unless you mix it in. The matcha is also really nice and rich. None of the bland or grassy taste. Just genuine good matcha! Chocolate Forest ($7.75)-- Basically same as above but the cream on top tastes like Milo/Ovaltine mixed in. It's a nice and sweet nostalgic taste. Not a hint of bitterness so if you want mocha/dark chocolate this is not the one for you. It's more happy kid hot chocolate vibes. Overall I really like this place for their matcha and would get it again. Pricing is steep but all good matcha goes for around $8 nowadays. Theres a shared parking lot (free if you go in the afternoon) but otherwise street parking.
got the strawberry matcha!! the cream top was delicious and so glad it didn't make the entire matcha drink heavy bc i just wanted something sweet and refreshing! the service was nice and quick! got my drink within 5-7 mins after ordering!! the inside was on the smaller side and it got busy/crowded fast so recommend getting your drinks to go!
I stopped by DAMO and ordered a matcha latte. The matcha had a vibrant, earthy flavor that was stronger than most matcha places I've been to. I appreciated the quality of the tea, and the matcha powder and cream on top was not too overly sweet. My friend and I were able to enjoy our drinks inside the shop, as there were plenty of tables available for people to chat with friends or study or work inside.
Visited this spot on a Wednesday at noon and they constantly had a flow of customers coming in and out. There's only a handful of tables and chairs with some stool seating against the front window. Ordered a matcha latte and I kind of regret not adding the cream foam after, but it was already a $7 cup of matcha. Upon mixing and tasting it left a bitter aftertaste so I didn't really enjoy it. I added two packs of raw sugar to try and alter it but I probably should have asked for sweetener or cream top because it still left a bitter aftertaste. Service was lackluster, not warm and friendly, but pretty straightforward. I was able to snag a parking spot in the lot but it wasn't plentiful as the plaza is busy shared with the salt bread shop.

My new favorite spot for decadent matcha and hojicha drinks! The cream top on the hojicha einspanner was so creamy and thick, and it was also the perfect level of sweetness. The strawberry matcha einspanner was also yummy and had a great presentation The space is pretty small but there are a few seats available. The line was around 20 minutes long on a Saturday afternoon. Like most spots in ktown, the parking lot is limited and you'll likely need to find street parking, but it is definitely worth the hype!
This was our last stop of our mini cafe tour when leaving LA and headed back home. We came shortly after opening, so there was plenty of parking and it wasn't crazy crowded yet. Upon entering the place is clean, sleek, and modern. We were greeted right away. I already knew I was leaving with 2 drinks for the drive back home. I ordered: 1. Cold brew vanilla: Delicious, I love that tou can see the vanilla cream on top. This was definitely what I needed to wake me up. 2. Matcha einspener: I tasted this and immediately loved it when leaving the store. I saved it for last. It was so light and refreshing. I could easily drink it all day if they had a bigger size lol. I was hoping to try the seasonal mango cream matcha, but sadly it was gone. 3. Pastries: I wanted to try the sampler but I don't thinking they had it yet. I tried one of the cinnamon pastries. It was soft and very cinnamony. Overall, it was a great experience and I'll be back soon.
I've been wanting to come to Damo for so long and finally got the opportunity with some church friends! I got the matcha einspanner and I savored every sip of that drink. The matcha was strong but not bitter with the perfect hint of sweetness. The foam on top was also lovely and creamy, it blended so well with the matcha. Dare I say, this is the best matcha einspanner I've had in socal (Memorylook is a close second). The cafe has small tables that are great for catching up with friends! I would definitely want to come back if I'm in the area. read more
"this is the best matcha I've ever had" - my mom I've been really wanting to go to this cafe for the longest time, and I finally got to go this last Saturday. And oh my god did it live up to the hype. It was my first time trying einspeners, and I was afraid that the cream top would be too sweet, but boy was I wrong. Here's what we tried in more detail: Hojicha Einspener (10/10): * star of the show, my favorite item we tried * extremely strong tea taste * blend of a rich nutty, roasty sweet taste * topped with a fluffy hojicha cream and holy was this the best combo * perfect sweetness Matcha Einspener (10/10): * a super strong and rich high quality tea taste * really smooth * paired perfectly with the cream on top * perfect sweetness Signature Da-Gwa (6/10): * assorted korean traditional snacks * came with yak-gwa, mochi, freeze dried dates, dried persimmon with walnuts and cream cheese, and a side of cream with red bean * definitely think it's worth the experience to try out these traditional korean snacks, but none of them were wowing me enough to get it again * my favorite was probably the mochi followed by the persimmon and yak-gwa Other notes: * super cute modern clean interior, love the aesthetic * however, it is a pretty small shop & can get really crowded * service was pretty quick even though there was a lot of people * everything i tried was super high quality in general, and i would love to come back to try so many other items read more
Came on a Friday morning to get some work done. Parking was extremely easy. I like that they have outlets, and wifi, so I could get work done. The AC does get a little cold after sitting for a while tho. I ordered their hojicha einspener, so it's so good. The cloud foam is so delicious. I wanted to order a few more so I could sample them all, but I'm just one person. O Hahah. I also ordered a kouign amann, and it was pretty good. Pretty standard. I do have to say that it does get a little loud because of the coffee machine, so def bring your earphones. read more

DAMO seriously NEVER misses--their matcha is basically perfect to me. It's the perfect bitterness, not too sweet, and never too milky. My favorite drink is the matcha einspener with strawberry cream but today i went with the classic strawberry matcha with no cream top. I will say, the coffee here is not my favorite.. so do with that information what you will. The service is always good, and the space has a very clean, nice aesthetic despite being on the smaller side. There is seating, but it's limited and usually full. This is my go-to spot when I want guaranteed quality matcha! read more
Love Damo so much! Not only are the coffees, teas & little food treats delicious, but the aesthetic inside the cafe is so beautiful. I have never had a bad latte from them, their staff are all so talented behind the barista bar. Definitely a must stop place in Ktown! read more

Depending when you go it can be a long line out the door. Parking also gets pretty rough too so keep that in mind. Definitely worth the matcha though it's got a wonderful flavor and the aesthetic inside is cute. read more

This is by far my favorite spot to get matcha! I ordered the Matcha Einspinner and got other drinks for my family, and it was delightful. The wait was a bit longer since we had a large order but it looks like everything is freshly made. I appreciate that they traditionally whisk the matcha to avoid all the clumps! The matcha itself was strong, not too sweet, and nothing overpowered the taste! I really enjoyed this drink. I would come back and try the Hojicha next! The cafe itself is very modern for those who like the Instagram aesthetics! It seems quiet enough to study or do work in the morning! read more

Damo Cafe is such a cute spot in Koreatown with a really clean and minimal aesthetic that makes it a great place to relax. I tried their Matcha Einspänner and really enjoyed it--it's smooth, well-balanced, and not overly sweet. I also gave their Hojicha Einspänner a try, but it wasn't my favorite since I didn't realize it was water-based (more like an americano style) and leaned on the bitter side. If you prefer creamier and sweeter drinks, I'd recommend sticking with the matcha or exploring other options instead of the hojicha. Overall, a lovely cafe worth visiting, especially if you enjoy a cozy vibe and a good matcha. read more
I was in the area and knew I wanted to check this place out. Koreatown, in my opinion, has some of the best Matcha Einspanners. This one was recommended so, I knew this was where I was going to go. Plus, as an added bonus it was less than a mile from where I was, making it convenient. It's nice that it has a parking lot, but the lot is tight and crowded. Luckily, I went early and I was able to get a spot but I can see it being difficult at peak hours. It's located in a shopping center with other businesses. Inside was nice, simple and clean. Service was great. I ordered my drink and a few minutes later, it was ready. It was good, but it wasn't my favorite. read more

I'm OBSESSED with their hojicha einspener - Its hojicha-infused cream tasted soooo goood! The tea itself was like a mellow roast. My drink had the cutest detail on top - a smiling pumpkin face made of hojicha powder (in spirit of Halloween at the time.) This bright cafe looked like a cute spot to study. Workers seemed happy to share recommendations. The most notable drawbacks were limited seating and limited parking in the plaza. You might have better luck with parking along the neighborhood street right around the corner :) Can't wait to come back to try the other cream top drinks! read more

Their drinks are top tier! I tried an Einspanner for the first time and omg...forever changed It's the right amount of sweet for me personally (not too sweet, and the matcha balances it). They do get pretty busy so it can take some time for your drink to be ready if they have a busy hour. The overall aesthetic and vibe of the place was also immaculate. I will say thought, I wish they had more seating. Overall, would definitely recommend. read more

Saw this place on tiktok and wanted to come check it out. There is a parking lot however parking is very limited and since it is a small lot, there was a ton of traffic getting in and getting out. Coming inside the cafe, it was extremely packed, you are shoulder to shoulder with the person next to you. If you plan on coming here to sit down and eat/study i would reconsider but You may get lucky and get a seat. Service was ok. Would be better for cashier to be more enthusiastic or at least seem more welcoming. Our drinks also did come out pretty quick and we did not have to wait more than 5 minutes. Matcha eispaner 8/10- Once i mixed the matcha with the cream it just tasted like milk so that was my mistake. If you are planning on trying this drink, first taste without mixing! read more

Best matcha and I am a 2 cups a day girlie. This place is always packed yet they are so efficient that I've never waited too long unless it was a weekend. I prefer a hot matcha latte with a little vanilla and theirs is top tier. Today I tried their iced matcha with cream on top, it's exceptional as well. I was told it's a favorite and I did get it because EVERYONE gets their iced matchas! The matcha is quality and I love their customer service as well. damo is a go to coffee spot for me ktown! It's usually always packed especially on weekends as they serve a wide variety of premium/specialty coffees, teas, matcha and other drinks. The actual spot can get quite tight especially when there is a lot of people inside but it does have a good amount of seating available. 10/10 would recommend especially because they were open on Christmas Day!! Which is absolutely wild for the holidays. We thank you for your service!! read more

Honestly one of my favorite matcha places in LA. by far my favorite strawberry matcha as well. the line is longer on the weekends but moves at a good pace. during the week it's relatively chill and a good spot to work at. can't wait to come back again. street parking is available and if not there's a parking lot right across the street for $5 read more

4/5 2/5 ($$) parking lot matcha einspanner & chocolate forest @damoteahousela was a new find this summer, and we absolutely loved it! the matcha einspanner was good, but I think the chocolate forest takes the win. I've never tried matcha with chocolate, and so this was a new experience for me. the sort of bitterness of the matcha with the sweet chocolate really balanced out the flavors. we came on a Sunday around 11am and there was still a lot of parking left, but once we were leaving, it got really busy, so parking is definitely almost a lottery thing. would recommend! read more

We are new to LA and coming from Seattle we can be quite the coffee snobs, so we were on the hunt for some great coffee places. Our friend showed us this place and it is a winner, we have been back several times since then. - They can get quite busy and there is always somewhat of a line and the parking lot is crap but to us, it is worth the drive from Hollywood. - Must try the different einspanners which are essentially different tea/coffees topped with a thick (delicious) whipped cream. - Some places to sit inside but each time we have gone, all of the tables have been taken but maybe you'll get lucky! read more

Chocolate forest! 10/10! But really all the drinks here are immaculate and are made with real matcha. The service is great 2! Seating is limited but there's outside benches for small groups. Parking can get hectic but usually there's many people coming and going and you can find a spot right away. read more
Got the hojicha einspanner and it was also quite tasty. It's not made with milk, it's essentially cold tea - so I was pleasantly surprised to avoid the oat milk charge. It was $7 before tax/tip. The hojicha cream top was yummy and was much needed since there isn't much sweetness in the tea! I came in around 9:30 AM on a Saturday and there was only one person in line before me and I found seating! It's a fun place to people watch if you sit by the windows. Service was very friendly and it was less than a 10 minute wait for my drink. Parking wasn't ample in this plaza around 9:30 AM but I managed to snag a spot. read more

I love Damo! The interior is modern and minimalist which I love. Their drinks are consistently good too. My favorites are matcha latte, hojicha latte, and matcha lemonade. Their matcha blend is bold but not bitter. Seating area is small and during busy times it's super loud and crowded. If you come early, you might be able to work/study here. They do have outlets and wifi, but sometimes it's slow. Parking is another great thing about them. There is a medium-sized lot with no valet (!) but it fills up pretty fast. read more
AMBIENCE: (5/5) - One of my favorite places to study, and so to many others. This place can get quite packed during the weekend & for good reason. Lots of outlets with plenty of sunshine brightening the interior & comfy seats with good coffee and some apps to snack on should you get hungry - Clean, simple & comfortable interior - Music isn't annoyingly loud either - Parking lot does get crowded during eating hours due to the other food places in the same plaza SERVICE: (5/5) - Drinks came quickly and the coffee was made with proper care. So did the snacks FOOD/DRINKS: (4/5) - Hojicha Esperner (5/5) = very flavorful & complex, dark and earthy, top cream balanced it out perfectly, would order again Signature Da-Gwa (3/5): - Flower = more dough like than I had thought, tasted almost like fried dough but texture is harder & chewier - Apricot = typically don't like dried fruits but this was quiet tasty, good balance of walnut inside - Salted Fruit Chip = so delicious, could easily devour a bag of this. Tinge of sweetness with some the taste of fruit & wheat undertone and then a hit of saltiness at the end of to finish off each bite - Chocolate Balls = mini ferrero rocher with a harder shell & outer coating - Sesame Ball = sesame was gooey in the middle, not too sweet but taste as sesame-like as I had expected? Not much of a fan of the outside flower coating, made my mouth feel very dry and didn't seem to add much flavor/texture OVERVIEW: (/5) - New fav studying spot to camp out - Must Try Drinks: Hojicha Esperner - The Signature da-gwa was cute & fun to try for the first time but not worth it imo read more
One of my favorite coffee shops in all of LA. It's so aesthetic, and I came in to do some work/study for a bit. They don't have very comfortable seating, but they do have big tables so you can spread your things out if there's not many people. I ordered what the cashier suggested, which was a hojicha einspanner with their snack platter. Everything was SO yummy. I really enjoyed the dagwa and trying out every one. I definitely didn't like some of the pieces, but that's okay because it was still a great experience. I would definitely come back again. Korean cafes are unbeatable. read more
One of my faves Parking - they have a lot but it fills up! Valet at night but we were able to find a spot on a Sunday afternoon p easily Vibes - not much seating and it gets crowded. This matcha spot was pretty average for me. I visited on a Friday morning, and it was great--no line, plenty of free parking, and an overall smooth experience. That said, I can see how it might get overwhelming on a busy weekend. I ordered a matcha einspanner with oat milk, which came out to around $8.25--fairly standard pricing for cafes in the area. My first sip reminded me of a Starbucks matcha latte with oat milk and vanilla sweet cold foam. However, the flavor here was less artificially sweet--which I liked--and had a noticeably stronger matcha taste. Even so, it just wasn't creamy enough for me. I wouldn't choose this place for studying or working. The natural lighting was almost too bright, and the space itself was quite small. While the aesthetic was cute, there are other nearby cafes that feel more comfortable for getting work done or just relaxing. If it were closer to home, I'd probably stop by again, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more
Got the matcha latte and da-gwa sampler. The matcha was one of the best I've had and i recommend! However, do not get the sampler. All four of the foods were strange and not good. The "honey biscuit" was so dry and flavorless, and the other ones were just dried fruit with chunks of butter on them?? Great drinks but pass on the food. DAMO is terrific. Never wanes in quality and has some of the best matcha / coffee in LA! Parking lot usually has open spots too so it's not too much of a hassle like most of the area. Can't recommend this place enough read more
I love cafe hopping and usually come to Damo when I'm in the area for the hojicha einspanner. They have a variety of drinks and I've tried their matcha, but compared to other coffee shops I like their hojicha much better than their matcha. I came again with my friends for a latte and to catch up. Usually, the place is packed with people doing work (mostly USC students) so it's hard to find seating. However, I went during spring break so there were less people. They have free wifi and an outlet, so if you're lucky and there's seating, it's a good place to do some work for a few hours. Parking is usually not a problem. Definitely one of my grab and go places for hojicha! read more

Stumbled upon this tea house after eating Pho in the same complex, it was bustling with people and seemed inviting. Wanted to know what the buzz is all about so went inside to explore. They serve sophisticated and elegant drinks that are made by very enthusiastic intense baristas in a traditional style with attention to detail and with upmost respect and quality to the art. The interior is pleasant and modern, there were quite a few people working and socializing. got the Hojicha Einspanner which was delicious, it's a tea base with a foam cream top and was instructed on how to drink it. One thing I'd say is that I was left with a cup full of ice and felt that the portion in relation to the price was un proportionate and left me feeling like I was short changed. read more

Was in the area decided to check out Damo. I didn't expect much but was immediately blown away. I got the Matcha & Hojicha einspanner. The matcha tasted almost identical to the community goods einspanner minus the salted cream top. I was hooked!! I have a feeling they might also use Rocky's. As for the Hojicha einspanner I feel like the Hojicha cream top is a bit much, it is good though and it taste almost chocolatey with a light smokiness. This shop is a bit far from me about 30 minutes but if you're in Ktown this is definitely the best matcha in the Area. read more
The workers here are very friendly and helpful. This place can definitely get really crowded and there isn't much seating. Definitely a modern vibe. I ordered the hojicha and the matcha. Both were very enjoyable and were really good quality. Both drinks went so well with the cream. I definitely wish the cups were bigger because their drinks were so enjoyable. Matcha with white cream top is good. If you like a stronger matcha taste and less sweet, then this is good for you. Cream top is sweet but perfect when you drink it with the Matcha. The place is small and very noisy. Line is long but moving fast. Parking lot is big but always full. I would definitely come back. read more

I have tried multiple matcha places but, compared other matcha place, I was so disappointed with quality matcha. Parking was okay, because its free. Inside, its clean and modern aesthetic. Service was meI can definitely tell its not 100% matcha. Im sure they mix with Korean matcha. Cream top was taste like fat milk. Not good quality either. read more

Updated review: If you're looking for a strong matcha go-to spot in mid-wilshire, DAMO is definitely on the list. I recommend the matcha einspanner, it has a strong grassy taste that is balanced out with the cream top giving it the perfect sweetness. It was previously offered as a smaller drink but has since updated the volume to ~12/16oz which is more worth the price. The coffee is really good, I also recommend the latte eispanner, for a creamier finish. The coffee shop is less busy during work hours, but expect to wait in line on the weekends if you arrive past 10am. There is seating available, about 4 tables that accommodate 2/3 people. It can get pretty loud, so I wouldn't recommend going if you need to study. The service is ok, baristas or cashiers don't really engage much which can be a plus for some. The shopping center no longer offers free parking as of mid march, they started valet parking only (bummer for those of us who have been going for years). read more
Expect a long line on the weekends, but for good reason!!! The drinks are soo sooo good! Don't worry, the line moves fast ;) DAMO is a cute aesthetic coffee/matcha shop. There is counter seating & tables if you want to work there. Wouldn't recommend on the weekend if you need a quiet place as people hangout there & can get loud. What caught my eye about Damo's menu is the Einspener drinks, which are their drinks with a cream topping. You can't go wrong if you pick any one of these drinks because the cream makes its drink SO BOMB!! HOJICHA EINSPENER 10/10 ($7) The hojicha tea is so refreshing and smooth! None of that grittiness you sometimes taste in other hojicha drinks. The hojicha cream on top pairs so well! I recommend you drink in this order: (1) sip the cream on top directly with your mouth, (2) put the straw straight to the bottom & try the hojicha tea portion, (3) blend everything together. This method allows you to try every part of the drink individually before combining everything together into a wonderful masterpiece! MANGO CREAM MATCHA 10/10 ($7.5) Real chunks of mango, high quality matcha, and topped off with white cream that just blends the drink so well together. SO SOO GOOD. I would drink this everyday if I could. Customizing is easy. You can adjust type of milk and/or add cream/ fruit/ espresso/ matcha shot to any drink! Honesty everything on the menu sounds amazing and I can't wait to come back to try other drinks! read more
