Stopped in for a quick lunch at Danny's BBQ! I got the pulled pork plate with Brunswick stew and potato salad and Texas toast. This was a really good plate of food - flavorful pork (can add any sauce, comes dry with a great smoky flavor), creamy cold potato salad, and a classic Brunswick stew. This is also a very affordable place and very kid friendly. There's a lot of seating and the staff is friendly and checks in on refills. I would come back here for sure! read more

What a great place! Tucked away in a shopping center off a busy road is a wonderful bbq place. My boyfriend had been here before, but this was my first time and I was impressed by the quality of the food and amazing service! The woman who rang up our order was more than happy to walk through the menu with me and the other server was attentive with checking on us and refilling our drinks. Both the boyfriend and I got the chopped pork plates - I got the southern potato salad & coleslaw, he got fries and fried corn. They have a multitude of flavorful bbq sauces to try from. Next time I think I'll try the hot bbq as they don't have any regular hot sauce. I love finding hidden gems like these! We drove past this place for years but never went in. Today we were hungry for bbq so we stopped in after summer camp. I ordered the baby back ribs, backed beans and collard greens. My boy ordered the chopped pork with backed beans and apple sauce. I was told to try the potato salad and it was great. The four choices of bbq sauce were perfect. We love the mustard based one. Over the course of 9yrs I have traveled all of the US from east to west and this BBQ joint is 100% my favorite! The staff make you feel welcome as you walk into this hardly noticeable joint. For year's I've wanted to try Danny's but it's location tucked away off of Tryon always seemed to slip my mind. Fast forward to 2012 and a new job has brought me to Cary so yeah, it's time to hit em up! I'm not a huge fan of the location, Danny's is located in an old-school, mixed-use strip plaza. Inside it's country simple and the place is popular. Even though the decor is super basic, you have to be seated in the dining room. The menu is pretty broad, I've tried the beef brisket plate (with collards, brunswick stew) and a pork loin sandwich on Texas toast. All the food at Danny's I've tried has been decent if not memorable. Everything's definitely home-cooked but the meat isn't as well smoked as say, Big Al's. And the barbeque sauces look decent but without labels, I've got no clues whats in the bottles! Service is pretty speedy, they do a volume business here and they get you in and out quickly. Definitely a decent lunch spot given the reasonable prices but Danny's is probably not the best que in the Triangle. Think decent que at a really reasonable price. But you know what? This is NOT NC style BBQ, which is one reason this place is unique and a hidden gem. The spare ribs are fixed with dry rub and taste wonderful. The chopped pork is also very tasty and they have a selection of sauces to put on it if desired. It is heavily smoked, so has a great flavor even without sauce. I would have to rate this place this as the best BBQ I've had in many years. People say BBQ is a very personal topic, but for me Danny's BBQ just brings everything I love about it all under one roof. Best southern bbq I have ever had. I went with a group of 4 and we ordered hush puppies & fried okra as starters. Both were delicious & crisp, fresh out of the fryer. As my entree I got the two meats plate. I chose pulled pork & the dry rubbed ribs. The pulled pork was a little dry but tasted great once you added on their homemade bbq sauce. Ok I'm from KC and have had a lot of the bbq here in town. This is the best by a country mile. I had the brisket sandwich with a spare rib and fries. The brisket is tender, not mushy, and full of flavor. You out their hot bbq sauce on it and it's worth every penny. The ribs were falling off the bone and super flavorful, as well as the piping hot fries. Interior is simple, as it should be for a bbq joint. Meal came out quick but I got there early. In addition to the meat being dry it was very bland, little flavor at all. As a long time fan of the Danny's in Morrisville, it nearly brought tears to our eyes one Saturday afternoon a couple months ago, when we walked up to the door, and a hand-written sign indicated, "Business Closed." We knew of two other locations, however hadn't frequented either in several years. So, in the mood for BBQ, we drove to the location in Cary. It didn't disappoint. Thanks for allowing me to open up. Here's a run down: Pros: a) The Food is every bit as good as the Morrisville location. b) Still the most unique chicken wings in the Triangle (not breaded, and sauced, but smoked and fried). In my opinion... No sauce required. c) Perhaps the best Cole slaw in North Carolina. d) Simple green beans served hot. e) Outstanding beef brisket. f) Very good Brunswick stew g) Nice variety of sauces (Vinegar, Mustard, Sweet, Spicy) h) Friendly Service i) Tasty Banana pudding j) Freshly brewed coffee Cons: a) Smaller restroom footprint. I didn't go, however was told the men's room could only accommodate one person at a time. b) Less flexibility for the "round-table-experience" of the Morrisville dining room. c) Without a GPS, this location is harder to find than the Morrisville spot. *Here are a few helpful Hints:.... 1) It's close to Western Wake Med. 2) It's on the opposite side of the street as the Wal-mart. 3) If you see O'Charley's, you're getting very warm. 4) It's in the same elevated strip mall of sorts as the Medical Supply place. read more

This WAS my favorite place to eat until today. 2:15, nobody ahead of me. But 2 ladies came in AFTER me and took their time placing a large order, with desserts. My ready plate sat on the counter for 10 full minutes while they worked on their order and got them out the door. Then she brought mine which wasn't right. So she took it back to make fries, and it sat another 5 minutes in the kitchen. When I got it, the barbecue and bread were STONE COLD. Everybody disappeared, so I couldn't find anybody to tell. I came here for my lunch break I got the fried wings and cat fish sandwich with fries. NOW THE WINGS WERE PERFECT!!!!! I love the flavor on the smoked fried wings it had a sweet smoke grill taste! The catfish sandwich was not so good I should of known better to get a fish sandwich from a bbq place it was thin tasted fishy. To the person who said they were so insulted by the owner on here - I think he just has a dry sense of humor bc we really enjoyed talking to him. I've been eating at Danny's BBQ for 30 years now. Usually once a week sometimes twice. My go to is the pulled pork plate with slaw and either green beans, field peas, or baked beans. The turkey sandwich with fresh hot french fries are also excellent. If you wanna go home with leftovers, order the beef rib. So tender it's falling off the bone and delicious, but a huge hunk of meat. On top of all that Danny and Barbara are wonderful host and most of their wait staff has been with them for years. read more

Took my Mom and husband to Danny's 5/11/23 for lunch. They were not busy but we were left standing, only ones in line, for 10 minutes. No one greeted us or said "we will be with you soon". My Mom is 84 and it is difficult to just stand. We ordered at the register, paid, at which time the credit card machine asks you what tip you want to leave. They did bring the food to the table, no one ever went to any table to see if anyone needed anything. The food was good, always is, but my Mom had to go to the counter and again not be greeted in order to get a take out box. They also said they no longer wait tables. Here's my tip: leave an appropriate CASH tip when you see how good your service is. Food is five, service today 1, thus the 3 rating. read more

Danny's supplies easily my favorite BBQ sauce in my North Carolina tour of BBQ history. In what was easily one of the most pleasant eating experiences of my conscious life, I devoured their delicious pulled pork framed by the wonderful Texas toast buns. My Yelping companion Laura and I fell in love with their sauce so much that we bought our own to bring back to Maryland. In our barbecue excursion to North Carolina, we visited five famous places and I left this one the happiest. A fantastic staff, quaint environment, and just splendorous overall. The biggest challenge was finding this place. My Garmin GPS merely put us in the general area when we put Danny's address in it. We ended up in a parking lot for a Jiffy Lube. The Jiffy Lube employee pointed us in the right direction and even offered to less us park in one of their spots. Nice guy. Anyways, the location might be cryptic if you don't know what you are looking for, keep your head on a swivel! In the greatest of conclusions, Danny's was my favorite North Carolina BBQ joint and if I'm ever near Cary again, I shall devour their pulled pork again.
