Wasn't sure what to expect, but ended up really impressed! We tried the sliders, tenders, mac and cheese, and loaded fries--and sampled all the sauces except the hottest levels. I was a little nervous it would all be Nashville-level spicy, but you can actually choose your heat, which was a nice surprise. The chicken quality was solid, and the generous amount of pickles was a huge win--they were phenomenal! The signature sauce leaned more mustardy than something like Cane's, but still paired well. Overall, I get the hype now. Great flavors, customizable heat, and satisfying comfort food. Would definitely go back!

We tried Dave's Hot Chicken for dinner last night and went through the drive-thru, which ended up taking about 30 minutes. The staff was friendly and did apologize for the delay. Once we got home, everything was still fresh, and our order was accurate. I had been looking forward to trying this spot and the food was good, just not particularly memorable. I ordered the mini sliders with lite mild spice, while my husband chose medium spice for his two sliders. He was surprised by how mild the heat level was for what he ordered. He was expecting more a kick. That said, I'm open to giving the place another shot and trying something different from the menu next time.

I am sooo excited to have a Dave's out west! This is my favorite chicken sandwich. My husband and I waited in line for over an hour opening night, and it was worth it! Whatever the breading on this chicken is just takes it to the next level. I love that they don't skimp on the pickles, because I'm an extra pickles girl. I also always ask for honey packets. We both had mild and hot, and neither of them were "spicy" at all. The fries are also delicious and have a great seasoning. I know people complain about the price, but I actually feel like it comes with a lot of food! Note that these "sliders" are full sized sandwiches! This is going to be dangerous for me!

BRET FROM SADDLECREEK IS THE BEST MAN. I've never felt more welcomed and catered to. I seriously would give him my last dave bite. Give this man a raise, I would put my life on the line for him.

I was pleasantly surprised how great the chicken sandwich was. I was going to get the mild because I was nervous, but the friendly young kid behind the register asked me if I liked spice and I do, so he suggested medium. I am so happy I did because it was awesome. I'm not usually a fan of cole slaw but it was perfect on the sandwich. I cannot wait to go back. Perfectly crunchy, amazingly flavored chicken sandwich!

Just tried Dave's for the first time. The restaurant is definitely uniquely decorated, it grabs your attention right away, way different than any other fast food place. We were greeted by an employee as we walked in and we headed to the counter. It was crazy busy as they just opened this location. I wasn't sure what to expect on the menu other than spicy chicken. I was glad to see you could order your hot chicken to the spice level you desired. The kids got no spice, I tried the mild and my wife went for the medium. We ordered 4 meals with drinks and it was 67 dollars. That seemed pretty steep for fast food before we got our meals. All I can say is the portions are pretty large! Next time we won't order so much! The 2 "slider" meal is 2 legit full size chicken sandwiches and fries. The tenders are much larger than a tender from Canes or anywhere else, it's basically a full size chicken breast almost. Now onto the flavor, the mild was fantastic, just the tiniest hit of heat but lots of flavor, the medium definitely kicked it up a notch! I can't imagine how spicy the levels past that are, and I won't find out! lol The French fries were excellent, a crinkle cut fry with some of Dave's seasoning on them, to me it was perfection, crispy, hot, and seasoned. 5 stars from this guy. My one critique is they didn't have Dr Pepper (diet or regular) but had 2 zero calorie coke options.... You can do better Dave!

Lite-mild tender & fries

Really good tenders! Flavorful, substantial, REAL chicken, and different levels of spice from no spice, lite-mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and reaper. You can order two different types in a two tender meal. I do like some spice and ordered the medium and hot. The medium was too hot and the hot was waaay too hot. The owner replaced my two tenders with the lite-mild. I thought that was generous! I think next time I'll try the mild. The fries do have some kick, so you will have to order them without if you don't want spice to your fries. Not cheap. $12.49 for two large tenders & fries. Drinks are extra.

I visited Shahen Afghan with my Supper Club group (where we try new places most of us haven't…read morebeen), and we all enjoyed it quite well. The interior is very colorful and welcoming, with greens, reds, and yellows, the colors of the Afghan flag, which was very cool. Our server was a young man (we think he was possibly the owner's son), and he was professional and efficient in taking our orders and keeping our drinks filled. Our group tried many dishes and each one was flavorful and came as a generous serving. We started with the potato bolani, which was a soft and fluffy naan type bread filled with potato and served with a lassi type dip and a chutney - it was also perfect to go with any of the meat dishes we tried. We also had the Mantu to start - a tasty little dish of succulent lamb dumplings, with a savory and sweet topping of beans and yogurt. Very interesting flavor profile for sure. Another dish we tried was the Chicken Biryani which came atop some flavorful rice. The chicken was dark meat, which I'm not usually a fan of, but it worked in this case. It was also topped with a lot of onions and an egg, which I wasn't a fan of, so just did not eat those parts. One of us had the Chicken Breast Cube Kebabs which came as little cubes atop the rice, with a hefty helping of a red sauce/marinade that had a little bit of heat. Needed another lassi to cool down after this one! Another tried the Lamb Kabob which is an absolute classic and you can't go wrong ordering that. We shared a few desserts to try: -Baklava/Baghlawa, which can be found in many cultures (Greek, Turkish), so I'm sure many have had this dessert. Nuts, dough, honey, yum. -Sheer Peera, which was described as a "milky fudge" and tasted very nutty but with a slightly floral flavor added in. Overall, I'd say this is a great place to try Afghan cuisine. It's not fine dining or anything, and definitely be prepared for some spicy flavors - but it's for sure a place to try a few new things!

This is a small locally owned business. The appetizers of Sambusa and pillow bread are outstanding…read more The Sambusa of this day was full of spiced tender beef, carrots, and onions making it a great tasting meat hand-pie. The pillow bread was a perfect vehicle to scoop up the chickpeas. The meat platter includes spiced stir fried beef, chicken and fried fish. To note, the fish was seasoned deliciously, very lightly breaded, and cook to tender goodness. I liked the sides veggies that came with the meal of a chickpea stew and braised collard greens. The meal was also accompanied with rice (not pictured) and the rice was a lovely pilaf style rice. Pro tip, this is a long building and the entrance to this restaurant is on Douglas St NOT 25th st. Open the door, and you will be met with a long hallway with 8 "suites". This restaurant is at the very end on the right. If the sign says closed, but the door to the "suite" is open, the restaurant is open. To note about the decor, it is sparse. The overhead lighting in the dining area is on a 2 min motion sensor, so if there aren't a lot of people, you will have "mood lighting" most of the time. Also, the building and space is clean, but utilitarian. This place is about the food not decor.
