This place is always delicious and hits the spot, I always get the cauliflower tender and 10 piece cauliflower bites. They are the best of all the cauliflower wings I've tried! The service usually is good enough, they give you your food and make it quickly. Ambiance is nice and they have outdoor seating options with plenty of space inside so that it doesn't feel crowded. read more

It has been a few months since we've eaten here. We decided to stop in for lunch after shopping nearby. The restaurant was clean and staff friendly. Parking can be tricky as the lot is narrow and fills up fast because of all the businesses in the strip mall. We ordered the two slider meal with fries to share. We picked the no spice and mild for the sliders. It took a long time for our food, which was surprising since they weren't too busy at 11:30 on a Saturday. Our sliders were nice and hot, but our fries were lukewarm at best. The sliders were yummy, but fries were disappointing. Overall a decent experience. We left satisfied, but not extremely like last time. Hopefully they'll work on their quality control. Would definitely try again though. read more

My friend and I came here on a Thursday night at 10PM and there were a good amount of folks sitting. The server was friendly and asked us if this is our first time here. Then she proceed to take our order. We ordered the -#3, which is one tender and one slider to share. The interiors is similar to other Dave's location. The food came out in a timely manner and the spiciness of the chicken was no joke! The tenders were moist and the spice was a good level. We will be back in the near future to try out more options. read more

Friendly service, the only thing that felt a little weird was when paying with the card, I didn't see a skip option. Maybe there was that I missed but I usually prefer to tip with cash after I get my order. I lost the picture I thought I took of my food. But just fyi. The sliders are more like smallish burger bun size and the chicken tender is twice as big. Think triple the size of a slider. Taste was on point too. I'd go back. read more

Out Christmas shopping and we haven't been here in sometime. Ordered a #2 which has 2 sliders and fries. Split this with my wife and it is more than enough food. The food comes out in a timely manner and fresh. Medium spice for us. Any hotter we couldn't enjoy our food. Service was fast and friendly and the overall atmosphere is good. Love coming here but next time I think I'll just get it to go. The music was just way too loud. But the restaurant is clean and bright. Our food came out fairly quickly and the employees are always nice, they always give me extra sauce. I got the spicy tender and slider combo with kaleslaw instead of fries. I do enjoy their fries but like to switch it up every once in a while. The chicken was spicy and juicy and I absolutely love putting extra Dave's sauce and honey on my slider. I do wish that they would put a little more slaw on the slider though because mine barely came with any. read more

Been coming to Dave's for a couple years now, it's never disappointing! The inside of this Dave's has an unbelievable aura with a warm and friendly inviting atmosphere. Finally got a chance to eat here. I got the single slider, spice level, hot. I got the Mac and cheese as my side. It was the perfect level of spice and hot combined. It was very enjoyable! The Mac and cheese is very creamy. Dave's special sauce is very addictive. I could probably put it on everything. Tons of seating indoor and outdoor. Very clean and lots of parking. When it gets busy you might have to park on the side as the lot gets a lot of business with other restaurants. Extremely friendly and informative staff. She explained everything to me and asked me level, side, drink etc. Her name was Kelly, she was fantastic. Everyone that was working was great and professional. One of the best place for a chicken sandwich. People who love spicy tend to love this place even more. Chicken is tender and it's natural (not processed chicken like most). Love #3 with the slider and add cheese which is an actual cheese slice on super soft bread and pickles. Fries are just ok crinkle fries. Not my favorite kind. Not into the on top shakes. This location isn't as loud as the Seattle location. Plenty of seating and walls painted by local artist in graffiti style. It's nice to have a Dave's hot chicken in Vancouver now. Last time I went even around lunch time it wasn't horribly busy. Service is efficient and the staff is friendly. I personally prefer the sliders over just getting the tenders. Not a huge fan of the plain slice of bread with the tenders. Sauce is good, fries are good, as well as the Mac n cheese. Nothing is super fancy but it is at least good! Chicken is tender and fries are crispy. The pickles are so good, part of my favorite thing there. Not a fan of the spices used for chicken - though it wasn't bad, just wasn't a taste for my likings. The Mac and Cheese was my favorite and I wish it came with more by far the best in Northwest (taste is just like my ma's and gram's homemade Mac from my childhood). The servers did prepare meal correctly. Love the Napkins just wish there were more as I'm a messy eater:). I had this delivered and I like the packaging, bag, and the fact my food was still hot when arrived. I'll try to update when I make an in-person visit. read more

First, calling this a "chicken shop" is a bit misleading as they only have chicken tenders served a couple different ways. Oh, fries as well. I decided to wait to do a review after eating a second time at Dave's after I ate once at the "tender shop" in Hillsboro a couple years ago. I tried the one in Vancouver and had similarly disappointing results. The chicken itself may be okay (it is "real" chicken" breast), but the coatings they put on it (whether it be mild or hot) are not good. Too much spice, but not necessarily "hot" spice. Think a ton of cumin and other things that make for too much overpowering flavor. The bun, pickles, and kale slaw are also uninspiring. The "Dave's sauce" is mayonnaisy and ketchupy with a little vinegar added. Bleh. I would not return. read more

To be honest, I do not understand the hype. I ordered the #3. One chicken sandwich and one chicken strip, with crinkle fries and a Coke. The chicken is moist but did I find it tasty? No not at all, nothing special and the coating/batter is where the heat is stored. I opted fir medium and if I ever go again I'll try the hot. Their Dave's sauce is bland and just reminded me if a bad fry sauce. The old Artic Circle had much better. I heard Raising Canes sauce is the best. We will see. The sandwich comes with coleslaw, a chicken strip and 4 big pickles. It was pretty good but not good enough to make a trip back. Fries had a seasoning on them but you wouldn't know it if you didn't see a difference in color. Nice people, loud outdoor patio music and very clean. No line to order on a Thursday at 5pm. Don't get me wrong, the food is fantastic! The people are lovely and very helpful! I want to give 5 stars! The spice level is just really inconsistent. We loved our food this first visit last weekend (opening weekend). My husband got hot and I got mild. He was sweating bullets and couldn't be happier about it. We finally found a place with a spice level he was excited about! I even got the app when I was waiting for my food just knowing this is going to be a new place in our rotation for eating out. We just ordered again this weekend using the app. It's really great that they let you pick the spice level per item. We got the meals with slider and tender in each and we split the spice level. I got mild tender and medium slider. The mild really wasn't spicy at all. The medium sadly wasn't either. They both felt suuuuper mild. Husband got hot slider and medium tender. He wasn't feeling the heat at all. I think we either got the wrong spice level this time or he got a hotter one last time. He was really disappointed that it wasn't spicier. We're definitely going back. The food is still juice and tender, the slaw side was great, the Mac n cheese we had the first time was soooo good! Don't get me wrong, I love chicken fingers and wings and everything chicken, but I'm a little lost here. I ordered the #3, which is a chicken tender and a slider, and ordered one in lite mild and one in mild (heat is not really my thing). The chicken tender and chicken on the slider were both large in size but I found them to both be lacking in flavor and on the dry side. The fries are nothing special and the bread tasted like Wonder Bread straight from the bag. Maybe it was my fault for not getting it hotter but between this and Raising Cane's, I'm not sure these chicken tender places are really my speed. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken was created by best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller's (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The four friends scrounged up $900 to put a tiny stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. The menu was simple, and chicken was the star. And what chicken it is! Sourced and prepared to be the juiciest and most tender imaginable with each piece topped with Dave's own mix of spices ranging from "Mild" to "The Reaper". Arman created Instagram buzz and the lines began to grow. Two nights later, Eater/LA showed up to see what the fuss was about. The next morning's headline read "East Hollywood's Late Night Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind". Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block. A year later, the boys had the money to open a shop in a hip strip-mall with de_cor by local street artists, where the crowds continued to grow with wait-times of an hour and more. From there, the incredibly craveable "Hot and Spicy" varieties have created a cult following with rave reviews across the U.S. and Canada.

History

Established in 2017.

In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long. After 6 months of running the pop-up with long lines, the team took the plunge and opened their first physical store in January 2018 in a sleepy strip center in East Hollywood. Demand for their crave-able hot chicken exceeded all expectations and sales have grown every month since opening with consistently long lines throughout the day.

It finally opened its first Washington state location a few months ago. This new location is in Vancouver, Washington. It is a bit of a drive from the Seattle area but much closer if you are coming from Portland. Still, no matter where you're coming from, it's absolutely worth the trip! Top Bop is located in the Hazel Dell area of Vancouver, in a modern and well-kept building with plenty of free parking. The interior is very clean and welcoming, with interesting artwork on the walls. There are two self-service kiosks where you can browse the full menu with pictures and place your order without needing to talk to a staff member. It might feel unfamiliar at first, but once you try it, you will see how simple and convenient it is. I personally enjoy using the kiosk because it clearly shows all the customization options and makes the ordering process smooth and easy. Okay, let's talk about the food. As you can see from the photos I took, Top Bop uses a build-your-own-bowl format. It is similar to how Chipotle works. You start by picking your protein. Then you choose two free toppings. Next, you select your desired spice level for the sauce. Finally, you can add optional extras to your bowl. As a poke lover, I chose poke for my protein. They offer both salmon and tuna. I could not decide which one to go with, so the friendly staff allowed me to do half salmon and half tuna. Perfect! My friend almost chose the Beef Bop (because, let's be honest, you can't go wrong with Korean bulgogi), but ended up getting the Shrimp Katsu Bop instead. Let's save the Beef Bop for next time. Once we placed our orders, it took about 7 minutes for the food to be ready. Everything is made fresh to order and fully customizable. The portion size was very generous. One bowl could easily be enough for both lunch and dinner. Now back to the WOW. The taste was outstanding. I got the poke bowl with two free toppings for only fourteen dollars. That is incredibly rare in today's market. The bowl was packed with fresh salmon and tuna. I could really taste the quality and quantity of the fish. I chose calamari salad and seaweed salad for my toppings, and they paired perfectly with the poke. The signature sauce at Top Bop is another highlight. I selected Level 3, as recommended, and it elevated the entire bowl to the next level. I also tried a couple of bites of the Shrimp Katsu. It was crispy and flavorful. From the menu variety, to the prices, to the taste, Top Bop truly delivers on every level. It is my number one pick for a restaurant this year so far. I genuinely hope they open a location in Seattle or Bellevue soon so I can visit more often. I will definitely come back soon to try the Beef Bop, Spicy Pork Bop, and of course, another bowl of Poke!

We ordered two items that would change my worldview: the Jalapeño Smash Burger and the Falafel Sandwich. First up: the burger. A double for a cool $8 à la carte! I was not prepared for this flavor explosion. What sets it apart is the seasoning--a symphony of black pepper and savory spices that hit just right. The American cheese was melted into perfection, creating a beautiful orange cascade over perfectly sautéed onions and jalapeños. A sturdy but soft brioche bun heroically contained all the juicy chaos. Seriously, this smash burger is better than some places that have "burger" in their name. Then, the falafel sandwich--a fresh, flavorful masterpiece. It features freshly baked, airy pita bread, ground chickpea falafel, crisp veggies, and their legendary house-made green sauce (which tastes like a cilantro-garlic party in my mouth).
