Tried Dawa Kitchen recently and overall it's a solid Korean fusion comfort food spot. The army stew was your typical soup, nothing too special but my favorite is the katsu. The katsu was massive, the curry itself was super flavorful. We did not have to wait at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon which was great. This restaurant is relatively small and dark with the black paint, with 2 wait staff. We ordered their famous pork katsu for $25 with curry and rice. What a great price for the gigantic size of pork. Yes it is thin, but it is large and seasoned well. Great for sharing and great for the gram. The size is humongous, it is insane! We also shared the bulgogi fried rice for $24 and that was decently portioned with great chunks of meat and cooked well. Came here on a Saturday around 3 PM. The wait outside was pretty long and it took around a hour for us to get seated. We ordered the tteokbokki and katsu. On first impression, I was really excited to try this place after seeing so many influencers on Tik tok. However, both items tasted pretty average to me. The katsu was kind of tough to eat and pretty try on the inside. I felt like they also did not put enough curry to compliment the katsu. The tteokbokki, in comparison to other places, it did not have much of a flavor profile. Other than that, me and my friends found it also pretty hard to get service. Came here on a Friday afternoon. I was 5th in line and waited about 30 minutes to get seated. The restaurant was small and well kept. I ended up getting the chicken katsu with curry & the korean pancake with bulgogi. The chicken katsu was huge, but that was the only thing going for this dish. The chicken katsu itself was really dry. The amount of curry given was not enough to mix with the rice and chicken katsu. The korean pancake was heavy on the scallion flavor. The crispiness of it was a big plus. Came with usual side dishes of kimchi, cucumber, radish paper, etc which are also refillable. Overall, the food was okay. It was cool and pretty well done, the only thing I'd watch out for is that because the katsu is so big it's really thin. Some parts of it are so thin and crispy it's hard to chew. There was also not as much curry as we hoped there would be. The bibimbap was yummy but we paid for bulgogi to be added and it was a bit disappointing how little bulgogi there was. So grateful for the customer service at this place and their amazing hospitality. The restaurant itself is quite small for how many guests they have waiting to be seated. At some point, they do shut down the waitlist way in advance in order to accommodate for adequate closing time. Leaving, however, there was a decent line of people waiting and the parking lot was full (a little before 1pm). It's cashless and you can split the bill if you need to, which is nice. Booth seating was roomy. A thoughtful touch was that they have mini rubberbands to tie your chopsticks and plastic forks and spoons for the kiddos. The pork katsu was very big but kind of dry? in a way, if I was to order again I would definitely get it with curry so it's less dry but it did come with a sauce for dipping if you choose the non-curry route. There were lots of tables and the restrooms were clean! They provided a jar with hair ties in case you need one and the servers were very attentive. The restaurant is definitely on the smaller size so we waited for over an hour as there were lots of people on the Yelp waitlist(you can't place in the queue unless you go in person). This place is worth the hype! We came on Friday night and waited about an hour on the Yelp waiting list. Come early because they will close the Yelp waiting list before the time the restaurant closes because it gets so crowded. Amazing portions, definitely the largest chicken katsu I've ever had & largest bulgogi bibimpbap. You can taste the freshness and quality of the food in your first bite. Love that the food comes out on a steaming hot stone grill. We are definitely coming back with our friends and family because this is the best Korean place for large hearty decliious and healthy portions that isn't an all you can eat kbbq place. As many others have said, this place is pretty legit. Though relatively unassuming from the outside, inside Dawa Kitchen is a world of flavor. Plan for a long wait but a great meal at the end of it. We were given an estimate of a 50 minute wait and that ended up being quite accurate. For 5 of us we ordered the giant pork katsu with curry, dawa chicken, tteokbokki, tofu soup, and scallion pancake with bulgogi. The portions were quite generous and despite coming to dinner with large appetites we still had some leftovers at the end. The giant katsu is one of their most iconic dishes and tasted great, although I do wish they would have given the curry separately and maybe increased the amount of curry. The tteokbokki had good flavor but the consistency of the sauce was much runnier than what I am used to. Aside from these factors, the other thing that I am taking off 1 star for was the server's attitude when explaining that they don't have chicken katsu. This dish is listed on one of the menus for a delivery service for this restaurant, and when my friend politely asked about it she was unnecessarily shut down. read more

Great spot to go if you're looking for some comfort Korean food. Service was quick and attentive. For two people we ordered the curry pork katsu and the garlic su yuk. Curry was good and so was the katsu for the most part. Only issue I had with the katsu was that it was that the parts closer to the outer edge of the katsu were really dry and the center was just a little dry. Thankfully we got the curry one so we could rehydrate the pork a bit more, but in doing so we lost the crunchiness of the panko crust. The garlic su yuk was the better choice. Super tender, juicy and flavorful. If they had offered some lettuce wraps or even some perilla leaves I think the dish would have been an 11/10 instead of a 8/10. Got to try Dawa Kitchen tonight and it did not disappoint! The Chicken Katsu with Curry & Rice was a hit with everyone in our party including our 12 year old and with the Braised Beef Stew with cheese it was enough to share with 5 adults and one kid!
