Totoro - I usually love black sesame but I dont recommend
    Brooke W.

The Totoro was so sweet I couldn't even drink it. I like sweet, but there was no balance. The coconut cold foam which took up over 1/3 of the cup, overpowered the black sesame by a mile. My $8 went to primarily sugar, coconut cream and ice. I don't like to waste so I'm going to go home make myself an espresso and pour some of this over the top. Drinking the whole thing might cause a heart attack.

Finally tried their most popular drink Totoro, made with activated charcoal, black sesame, distilled coffee & orange blossom, topped with creamy coconut + salt. Nutty, floral, creamy, and sooo unique Dayglow is super vibrant and right next to Awan Ice Cream . Known for single-origin coffees, but since I just had coffee I want to try something else. I found metered parking about two blocks away. Drink is good, but a bit pricey for small size - $8

I forgot to what mine was but it had coconut and blueberry. It was tasty compared to my boyfriend's latte which was trash. He said it's the worst coffee he has had and that it was not necessary to put an orange zest in it. He thinks they were doing too much with it trying to be over the top. We also got the strawberry overpriced tiny donut that was mid af. We will not be coming back since the selection was very specific and limited. The barista who was making our drinks took a minute especially on a day without a line and he was also on FaceTime on the clock.

This deliciously extraordinary $9 beverage was the size of two Dixie cups. I know real estate is pricey these days but this feels crazy. Normal-sized drinks are in the $10+ range. 5 stars for taste, zero for price-to-product ratio.

Coffee 5/5: caffeine works so well, and it did not give me the coffee jitter. This was a great discovery, will for sure be coming back! Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 - minimalistic purple, love the vibe.

I stumbled upon this cute, minimalist coffee bar when we were hitting up the vegan ice cream store next door. I got Totoro: black sesame, activated charcoal, distilled coffee, orange blossom, raw honey, coconut, oat. It was delicious with distinct coconut taste. It was at a little too sweet, but I was happy w/ my day glow experience. It was a cute minimalistic coffee shop w/ unique ingredients.

Man oh man! I spent the day in LA and decided to stop by Dayglow. This was my second time visiting, just at a different location, and it still felt as exciting as the first! I ordered a pour-over and was definitely not disappointed. The coffee was a single-origin Ethiopian called The Boo. Such a cute name and an even better cup! I also tried one of their fun signature drinks, which was delicious and creative. Their retail section had a great selection of coffees too, so of course, I had to grab one to take home. Dayglow continues to impress me with its quality, vibe, service, and attention to detail. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who loves good coffee and good energy. It's officially one of my must-visit spots in LA!

Love, love, love Dayglow. The aesthetic and ambiance inside is so cute and trendy. And their menu is extensive. I am a matcha lover and they do an amazing job!

Really cute/small shop with easy street parking. I wanted to try something new today so I stopped by and wow - this shop is pretty cool! They have a ton of different beans from all over with unique flavor notes, as well as a few unique lattes. When I came in the morning, there was only one person there but there wasn't a long wait and I was greeted/taken care of quickly. I got the military latte which was interesting and pretty good and not overally sweet . Their matcha is fantastic! Definitely coming back.

Stark ambiance with limited indoor and outdoor seating clearly less of a place to spend anytime. Nonetheless incredible coffee. All too quickly and incredible unique flavors created perfectly with very kind barista.

Dayglow & Awan popped up unexpectedly in our hood a few months ago, so we tried both right away. With the crowds dying down and calling attention we somewhat forgot about both until recently while walking the pup. Stopped by today to restock my beans at home. Very extensive & unique selection of coffees from around the world. Bought the Nacimiento Pacas, from Honduras, roasted in Norway. Say what?! Can't wait to try. The barista was super helpful in a chill way and offered a free drip with our purchase of the beans, which he grinded course, as requested. He also made the best, iced Mendls Peppermint Mocha. It has a mocha base with a lavender colored peppermint foam on the top, garnished with peppermint flakes. Truly phenomenal. They also have cute tables set up on the curbside on Melrose. After this visit, we won't forget to come back.

Dayglow features some exceptional pour-over coffees on this first visit. They feature a variety of beans that apparently change and rotate every so often. Tried: Dayglow, United States R03 (Columbia). Delicate, nutty, tart, nice medium coffee notes. Kawa, France (Finca Milan, Columbia). Yowzers! This was amazing, with coconut, "creamy" vanilla notes, and their menu said it's like a "milkshake." After tasting it, I think I'd agree. Great pour-over!

Small location but still so cute. They have street parking outside and a couple tables. Even though there was only one barista she was able to get everyone's drinks out promptly and was so nice too! The strawberry matcha is amazing, I must say I'm going to have to come back for it.

The main thing that stands out here is their 1987 coffee roaster which is the center piece of the cafe. They roast various single origin beans on a daily basis, so you know you can purchase some fresh coffee beans here. If you need your beans grounded, they do grind it for you depending on your brewing method. They have beans of light roast, medium roast and dark roast and sell by various weights for a very reasonable price. They also sell various tea leaves, baked goods (croissant, muffin, scones, bagel, Danish, coffee cake, Dessert Therapy cookies, and merchs. They also have a seasonable menu that changes. When I went, it was the Sakura season menu. Staff were all friendly and were very willing to answer any questions regarding the menu. Please note, the base coffee blend for each day varies and rotates on a daily basis For my visit, I tried ... 1. Buttered Coffee (4.5/5) The base coffee for the day was the Peru single origin, which was well-balanced; slightly sweet with a hint of tartness and nuttiness. They then add a chunk of butter into the coffee, which helps cut some of the acidity, but also is supposed to enhance the caffeine effect and give you additional energy from the fat. It does leave a layer of fat/oiliness so if you are not a fan of that, then this may not be for you. The butter did give it a subtle buttery flavor, which I personally liked. 2. Matcha with Sakura Cold Foam (4/5) The matcha was blended smoothly and was not grassy at all. The Sakura cold foam didn't really taste like Sakura (been to Japan, so know what real Sakura flavor should taste like), but instead, just tasted floral. 3. Columbia Supremo Whole Beans Full body and aromatic. Good for those who like to drink black coffee 4. Guatemala Huehuetenango Whole Beans: Crisp, acidic and a hint of nuttiness Glad I found this local roaster where I'll definitely be coming back to get some more fresh beans.

I also ordered a pastry and was surprised they don't have an oven to warm it up, which made the experience less enjoyable. I understand every shop operates differently, but I wish this was clearer beforehand. Hoping they improve the coffee quality and offer a way to heat pastries in the future.

She was genuinely engaged in talking about coffee, understood the beans she was serving, and was able to answer questions without hesitation. That's becoming harder to find these days, and it definitely added to the overall experience. The cortado itself was well executed. The temperature was right where it should be, allowing the flavors to come through immediately without having to wait for the drink to cool down. I was able to clearly taste the notes in the coffee, and the balance between the espresso and milk was excellent. The body held together nicely throughout the drink and never felt thin or watered down. My only critique would be that the crema and microfoam leaned a little more matte and foamy than glossy. It wasn't enough to take away from the drink, but a slightly silkier, shinier texture would have elevated it even further. That said, this was an Ethiopian natural, which can be a bit trickier to dial in and pair with milk while still preserving the character of the coffee, so it's a fairly minor criticism. Overall, a very good cortado from a shop that clearly cares about coffee. Good execution, proper temperature, clear flavor separation, and knowledgeable staff always make for a better coffee experience.
