Cliff notes- avoid at all costs. Wildly unhelpful, blatantly dishonest staff who would clearly rather be somewhere else. Walked up to the entrance around 9:15 after seeing their closing time listed as 10 pm. 10 minutes later, had the staff come by to tell us that they had already stopped seating for the evening (info not posted anywhere) but we could order to go food. Placed the order, and while doing so had more people queue up behind us...when they asked, they were told "oh we stop seating at 9:30". That, of course, is rather hilarious as we had been there well before that cutoff and also not been seated. While we waited for our to go food, asked if we could sit and order from the bar during the 15-20 minute wait and were told last call had already happened...only to watch countless more drinks be poured for other patrons. Just by walking to this place, the bartender is on point acknowledges everybody and is nice is his customer base! Did not try the food but I was very impressed by his sense of urgency in everything he was doing to acknowledge every customer.! We found this place online and were looking forward to trying the burgers with Chile (we are from out of state) we ordered a stuffed burger and a green Chile burger. The stuffed burger is probably one of the most unique and delicious burgers I have ever had. The burger was smoky and had a lot of dimension to it. There are different levels of flavors as you bite it Until you swallow the bite. The other burger was good, just not as unique. We chose to order for take out as the place was very crowded and just to be safe during COVId times. We also ordered a Narilla dessert which to me compared to a mixture of egg nog (very Christmas-like) and raw pancake batter. I did. It love this dessert and think that it's better to skip it. If you get a hair in your food, expect the manager to ask you what you want her to do about it because comping your food is not what they'll do. She was extremely rude as soon as she got to our table without us even saying anything and our server grabbed her for us without us asking for her. Boring basic food and affordable drinks. This is a "good" place because it is one of the few places open "late" in Downtown Santa Fe. My friend and I stopped in here on my first night in town. I was late arriving, so by the time we dropped my luggage off at his place, our only two options were Del Charro and Atomic Grill. We chose Del Charro and got some beers, Red Stripe I think, and ordered some food. We shared the chips and salsa/guacamole and the bartender recommended the Turkey BLT wrap as his favorite, so we tried that as well. The food was good. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired. Seemed like a lot of under age kids acting goofy. Not exactly my scene. Through out my trip, many of the locals recommended that I go here. We came here for a late dinner - the food was a nice change from all the New Mexican fare we've been eating all weekend. There are few places that are open past 10pm in Santa Fe, so this was a great casual spot to grab a late night meal. While the food was fantastic, the service was one of the worst we've experienced. It took a while to get our drinks and order and once a bus boy dropped off our food, we rarely saw or heard from our waiter again. When they eventually came back around - we were met with attitude. My review is based purely on my love of Del Charro's $6 margarita. I haven't had a meal here, just appetizers to go along with the booze. My SF friend Alina brought me here. It's got a log cabin feel to it. It's nice to walk in out of the cold night and be greeted by a roaring fireplace and overstuffed chairs. The staff is real nice and Del Charro is open later than most places in Santa Fe. It was packed when I was there on a Friday night. Basically a chicken corn chowder with some green chile pieces in it. I was in search of green chile when visiting New Mexico, so I left wanting more. I had a hankering for a good burger and that is exactly what I got. When I entered in by the bar the seating situation was clear but as I approached the dinning room it was clear it was seat yourself. I elected for a table by the fire. The warmth felt great. I was in my seat only a minute or two before the server took my drink order, got my drink and took my dinner order. 12 minutes later I was eating a very good green chili and cheese burger cooked perfect. We are here on vaykay from California! I was born in Santa Fe, and come to SF at least 4 times a year. But I've never been here. This was a pleasant surprise for me! My husband had the wings, my aunt had the salmon salad and my uncle had the enchilada plate! We were all very happy with our choices! But the Larry the waiter was exceptional!! He was very cordial, friendly and the service was quick! We stayed a little longer after we ate our food and we didn't feel pressured to leave. Oh and we landed up ordering desert! Before Covid hit, I used to go at least twice a month. They had a quaint space separated from the rest of the restaurant with a Kiva fireplace, and a wall that opened to the outside. The heating lamps kept you warm and the ambiance was wonderful for family and friends alike. The food was average, but I went for the atmosphere and the prices were great. I have a friend that loves the Poblanos dish. I on the other hand wasn't so crazy about the changes in recipe this time. I visited on Christmas Eve with a few friends. We were led to a back room, with no heating lamps. Needless to say, it was ice cold. But my biggest issue was having to split the check with my entire table. I always end up paying 20 dollars above my meal when I can't get a separate check. True to form, I paid almost 20 dollars above my meal price to satisfy the check. Del Charro, with all of the changes Covid has caused, you could make this one concession and give people separate checks. You'll find that you have bigger tips as well. My friends and I were happy to be patrons at this institution during COVID-19. We support local businesses and were patrons at the lunch hour, ordering several appetizers, entrees, and drinks. We came back for dinner as our service at lunch was exceptional and were unfortunately met by an employee (with his mask fully pulled down below his chin) who announced that we could dine at this institution but could not order any drinks, as he subjectively determined that we were too inebriated to purchase drinks at "his" institution. When pushed further to declare what his official capacity was, he could not elaborate further. When our African American colleague confronted him, as we were obviously not incapacitated in any manner and were not actively drinking any alcohol on the premises, he said that he was the sole decision maker of this institution and needed to "maintain its safety". Keep in mind, there was no indication that anyone in our party was unable to act in a reasonable capacity. He said that his decree was not discriminatory but rather the "law of Santa Fe". However, he readily allowed patrons of other races and various states of intoxication to enter the premises. I have never written a review for an establishment and am ashamed that this is the instance in which it is necessary, but I implore other patrons to visit other institutions for both better cuisine and superior humanism. read more

House margarita is pretty good for the price and the feel of the Saloon takes me back to being in Mexico City. Friendly staff and I've met some wonderful locals who go there almost daily.
