We got a bad table as it was crowded and only a 2 top with one chair facing the tv was available, thus only one of us could see the TV. Drinks were good. Burgers were good. Service was slow and ambivalent. Good bar vibe. We asked to move to a 4 top when the party of 4 was leaving but were told we would not like it as it had a cold breeze when the door opened. Odd since the folks sitting there in t-shirts didn't seem to be bothered by it. My guess is he didn't want 2 people sitting at a 4 top. This restaurant is connected to the Inn of the Governors hotel which is very convenient for guests. It was a busy Saturday night and the restaurant was filled with guests. Service was ok. We had a server that seemed like he didn't want to be there or help us. He ultimately did and it was fine but the whole thing just felt off. It kind of felt like we were imposing on him for being there. The food was meh. The guacamole was really flavorful but everything else was just ok. We got to town late after seeing some cool sights on Rt. 66 headed home to Kentucky from a work trip my wife joined me on. Our concierge at the hotel recommended this place and he hit a home run. Security as we walked in was very friendly, our waitress was helpful and nice, and the manager, Arthur, came over and talked to us about all the food. He was surprisingly honest about what they weren't excelling at yet, but righteously confident in what they were hitting dingers on. He was spot on. I probably wouldn't have trusted him if he wasn't so honest. House Margarita was actually better than the specialty ones except for the prickly pear, which I thought was awesome. It wasn't better because the rest are good, it was better because they were all great, but I like it simple. Appetizers of Green Chile Chowder was an amazing blend of Chicken, Maybe White Beans (?), Chiles, and Potatoes that would cure anybody of the flu. Entrées were perfectly cooked flat breaded fish (cod?) and chips with a wonderful malt vinegar and a green chili tartar along with the New Mexico burger that tasted like your dad cooked it over charcoal on his Weber aluminum grill, but your dad was a Chef. Del Charro is a solid restaurant and bar in downtown Santa Fe with a diverse menu that could please anyone. We stayed at the Inn of the Governors and got a $15 credit per day for Del Charro so we had dinner here a few nights and also got room service. Their quesadilla is good, we also shared their Nachos Royale one night when we didn't want an entree each. Is big, fresh, not healthy, but tasty! Their salads are decent, also. My husband really liked his Stuffed Green Chile Cheese Burger, tasty and great to try when in New Mexico. A must! I loved my Blue Corn Chicken Enchiladas, a different way of arranging everything in the plate, but full of flavors and authentic to the area. We tried all their desserts for room service, the natillas is fun inside the crisp tortilla, so is the sundae (don't expect the traditional one) and the chocolate mousse is delicious, soft and moist. They have an extensive drink menu. La Paloma Margarita is great, the Blood Orange and the Prickly Pear and fun also. They have a lot of beer on tap, we got Dos Equis one evening, it was decent. Their White House Sangria is a must try, fresh for the summer, perfect after a day of walking and visiting the area. We really enjoyed the Sangria, got it a couple of times, fruity and fun! Nice service, reasonable prices, great menu, it is a popular place so you might have to wait for a table for a while. This is a fine dining restaurant with traditional decore. As such, meals are more expensive. Our servers were gracious. The Paella Farol was excellent, as well as the mozzarella salad. Portions are not large as expected. And the custard desert was also very good. They have a happy hour until 5 which we were able to partake of. Normally I don't like to eat at hotel restaurants but my lyft driver recommended the green Chile burger and margarita. Because I'm lazy I managed to walk the 235 feet from my room to del charro and sat at the bar. I got a handmade margarita which was ok but the green Chile cheese burger was one of the best burgers I've had in the last year. Next, my party and I decided to order the Chipotle Wings. 9/10 - meat quality was great, the sauce was spicy, and could taste the seasoning. The wings are Top 10 in New Mexico and I can see why. I recommend getting these if you go but they are around $2 a wing. Finally, the worst part of the night was the letdown from the Green Chile Burger. I ordered my burger medium-rare and it fell apart. The bun was soggy, the burger fell apart in clumps, you couldn't taste the chiles and the sauce on the burger was non-existent. We came to Santa Fe for the Labor Day weekend. Things were quite different in the Covid 19 era. We had been to Del Charro in the past. We got there Saturday evening. They set up tables in the parking lot between The Governor's Inn and Del Charro. After a 30 minute wait and a temperature check, we got a table outside. The temperature was a perfect at 72. For drinks, we had The Mexican Mule, a Herrata Margarita, and a House Maragarita. The give me the extra margarita mix in the shaker with the House Margarita so you almost get two drinks. For bar food, we git the Royal Nachos and The Chicken Quesadilla. This is a great place to come to when visiting Santa Fe. They seemed to have quite a few locals too. read more

We typically stop in when we visit Santa Fe and have always had great margaritas. I'm not sure what's happening, but yesterday we had the worst margaritas and terrible queso. I ordered the prickly pear margarita and my husband had the pineapple infused margarita- both tasted like cheap tequila and store bought sweet and sour, they were rough! We were on our way last night to the Living Room (one of our favs) inside the Loretto Inn and as we walked by Del Charro we knew it was time we go inside. We are so glad we did! We sat at the bar and enjoyed a couple of house margaritas, which were some of the best we've had. The bartender made us a marg (not sure if it is on the menu) with some mezcal. I am not a fan of mezcal in the least but it was pretty good. We also enjoyed the chocolate mousse. It wasn't popping with chocolate flavor but good nonetheless. Went for lunch today. Ordered the chili dog which was disappointing - was dry and what little chili was on it tasted like canned stuff. The meat also tasted low quality. I wanted to order the beer battered fries which on the menu were priced as $4 - then the waitress told me they were either $5 or $6 !?? Really? She said she would check and came back saying they were $5 and when I told her the menu showed $4 she did not offer to charge the $4 so I never ordered them. She was not very friendly and the fact that she was giving me wrong information about menu items didn't help. My friend ordered the grilled chicken salad - they have done away with the delicious tostada type salad bowl they used to serve so that was another disappointment. Also, aside from the main manager it appeared everyone else on staff was immigrant. Del Charro has changed a lot (Not for the better) - used to be the place for locals - guess not anymore :( read more

Who would think you would find an awesome ahi tuna sandwich in Santa Fe NM? We've been going to Del Charros for a number of years when visiting Santa Fe from Denver CO. They added the ahi tuna sandwich to their menu a few years ago and it's as good as anywhere I had one (rare). Along with their black and tan which you also don't find around that often, it was a great dinner. Even though comparing the two is apples and oranges, Del Charro was a much better eating experience than The Bull Ring in Santa Fe. Our server, Perla, was great.
