(NOT a problem) and they kept apologizing, bringing me a chair, Christine brought a glass of wine, the owners chatted with me, and I got to hear from many diners who were ALL thrilled with their meals. First thing u notice is awesome aroma of the grill and especially the pork. Ordered the grilled medley to try a lot of selections and it was great. On a recent visit to St. Simons Island I ducked into this adorable restaurant for a quick bite to eat. I usually go for seafood when I'm on any of the islands but the line was soooo long at Iguanas (the island favorite) that I decided to go another route. I knew by the looks of it that this place would be a bit pricey but I was pleasantly surprised. Just about everything was under twenty bucks. Perfect for grabbing a quick bite before get on the road to head back home! I also had a feeling that the portions would be tiny. Boy, was I surprised when the chicken breast with chive oil that ordered took up the entire plate! It usually comes with mashed potatoes but I opted for a bowl of linguine with alfredo sauce. Everything was great, even my rum and coke! The only thing that I didn't care for was the bread. You expect great bread with pasta. Theirs wasn't bad, just not addictive like most bread baskets are. We had a group of friends here from Atlanta this Memorial Day weekend so we made reservations for 11 people last night. I was little concerned to have dinner there last night with that many people on Memorial Day weekend. Del Sur was slammed as you can tell by the video I just posted. Our service could not have been better and the food as always was un believable! Nancy and I started off with the Grilled Provoleta (Imported Argentine Provolone) topped with fresh tomatoes, caramelized onions and oregano. We then ordered the Three Hour Beef Short Ribs Over Prosecco Risotto for our main course and it was fantastic as always. Del Sur is at the top of our list for great restaurants here on St Simons Island. If you are ever in the Village you need to give this establishment a try. read more

My honey and I needed a break from fried fish, so we planned a casual date at Del Sur. We'd already eaten appetizers elsewhere, so we went straight for wine and entrees. Our waitress, Rachel, was helpful with the wine list and menu, and pleasantly patient with our questions and indecision. Throughout the the evening, Rachel was there when we needed her, but provided us plenty of space to chat and dine privately. Food: We went for the short rib risotto and NY strip steak. Both were tasty, but not mind blowing. We ordered the steak medium-rare, but it was done medium-well. My boyfriend happily slurped up the short rib risotto, and my guess is he'd order it again if we came back. Atmosphere: I'd make some adjustments to the trying-to-be-euro-bistro decor, as well as switch out the paper napkins and paper covers on the tables. When I'm eating steak I want a cloth napkin, ya know? Overall: wonderful service, basic ambiance, good food, surprisingly affordable (especially the wine). Great ambiance. Food was ok and the server, while very nice, was inexperienced and frazzled. I had the Mahi Mahi special. It was very dry and under seasoned. On our first trip to SSI we were looking for a dog-friendly restaurant to eat lunch at. We really hit a home-run when we happened on Del Sur! The service is first-rate and the food delicious. I had the beef empanadas and a salad, my husband had the sausage sandwich. Our food was cooked to perfection and served promptly by our friendly waitress. Fantastic place in the middle of St. Simons. Their lamb empanada appetizer is unlike anything I ever had. I have had a few dishes here but the tender lamb chops dish is highly recommended. This is my new favorite restaurant in SSI. I have been here two times now and both times were fantastic. The first time I got the special, a cast iron dish with three meats and veggies. Last night I got the on menu skirt steak with a fantastic homemade chimichurri sauce. All the meats were cooked perfectly. They also have a pretty good wine selection. All the prices are very fair. The atmosphere is about as good as you can get when retrofitting a breakfast diner, they did a good job. I typically like fresh seafood when I am near the coast but I will be at Del Sur for each visit going forward. Highly recommended. read more

By far the BEST restaurant in Golden Isles that we've had the opportunity to check out. We enjoyed the shrimp primavera, skirt steak, and rib eye among other entrees. Let me start by saying that this is NOT my style: they have bottled water in glass, the servers look down at you if you ask what something on the menu is, it's expensive, crowded, and not very good. But they have lots of over priced wines so some family members enjoyed it. read more

My family and I expected a nice dinner and upon walking in, the AC was broken which they should have told us when making the reservation. Then I sat down to a glass with a chip in it and was given a dirty bread plate. When I got my salad, I asked for dressing on the side and they had spilled dressing all over it, asking if that was ok. The chicken I ordered was over-herbed and I did not enjoy eating burnt flakes of oregano on top of what would have been a good dish. The pasta I ordered came in the wrong sauce and over time, we were all sweating and fanning ourselves. After reporting the problem I was asked if they should re-fire and I refused. At this point I was over the place and wanted out. The service was also lacking. The utensils were placed back on the brown paper table cover over and over, since the bus help took the bread plates and cleared when we weren't really done. Really looked messy. Seems like fresh utensils should have been brought out. Was not impressed with the manager's response. He seemed to blame the issues on us. A couple of us got the dish with the three meats and the chicken was basically burnt and they messed two of our steaks up. For the price we paid I would expect much better service.
