Our waitress would not pay attention to us while we were ordering, took at least 10 minutes on a non-busy day for first interaction, her visits were not often, we had to repeat ourselves, and she forgot to bring the juice and milk we ordered to come out with the meal until the meal was halfway over; we were ready to fuss but she didn't even pause to let us complain before walking away. We didn't expect much on a saturday morning breakfast run and we didn't get much. No big deal... until we saw the 20% gratuity added to our ticket because we were a 7-top.... no wonder she wasn't paying attention she made $13 off of us for doing nothing. I'm not sure what her name was but she has black shoulder-length hair, works the 'stage' seating area, looks about 30-50 years old... next time we go (if ever) we will request to not be in her section. read more

I've never had anything but excellent service here. I sit in the restaurant section and service has always been right on target. I've pretty much had all the food on the menu, but mostly I love their cheese burgers & onion rings. When my sister comes from out of town, this is where she always wants to go, nice place to chat & relax, she loves their fish & chips. My brother likes to occasionally meet up there after work for a couple beers & a chat, while I indulge in their strawberry cake and iced tea. Beware of new owners! We used to go to Delaney's all the time (they are one of the only bar in town that serve my favorite beer and they are close to our home). Since the old owners took off the place has gone totally down hill. We were there with a large group of people on a Friday night and couldn't have been more disappointed. The service was decent (usually we have to put up with slow servers) but everything else bad. For some horrific reason the owners (that could not have been more absent from their own restaurant) decided that they'd like to save money on their overhead by simply removing the buttons from the thermostats and setting it at miserable 84 degrees!! Totally unacceptable for a hot June night. If we were burning up, I can only imagine what the staff was feeling like. This is cruel. No wonder the owners refused to be there for a busy Friday night... they'd melt! Paying up to $5 for a draft beer they should have the decency of keeping their patrons comfortable. And by the way, $6.50 for chips and salsa is totally ridiculous for a pub, who do you think you are?! read more

My wife and I went last night for a salad and a beer. This was our second and our last time going. They tout 53 beers on tap. My wife ordered a beer as did I. The waitress came back and told me they were out of the beer I ordered. I ordered a different beer only to find out it was out also. Third beer - out. Fourth beer - out. Fifth beer - you know. Finally, I found one they had. In the meantime, my wife's beer (which they did have) sat at the bar and didn't make it to the table until my inventory audit was complete. While there may be 53 taps behind the bar..... No issues with the food. When we were nearly finished, the waitress stopped by and I told her we were ready for the check. Then she disappeared. We finished our drinks and sat at the table for probably 10 minutes when she came back and asked if we needed anything else. Just the check I said. "Oh, are y'all ready for the check?" Burgers: 4 and half stars Irishman's Gyro Wrap: 3 stars Customer Service: 2 stars Overall ambience: 2 stars Before I say anything negative, I've got to say that the burger my husband ordered looked really good and he said that it was a tie for second best burger in the immediate area. That's the good news. I had the Irishman's gyro wrap and it was good but not terribly memorable. They need a "secret" sauce to jazz it up a bit and give it some pizzazz. That has really been my experience with Delaney's. I've been once before, had the pita wrap and was similarly unimpressed. The experience today was just weird. We walked in and the bartender told us to sit whereever we would like. So I grabbed two menus and we headed to the closest booth about six feet away. We took two steps and the hostess appeared and took the menus away from us and told us to sit down and she would bring them to us. Stunned, we walked the other 5 feet and sat down and started discussing going somewhere else. She waited two or three seconds and then brought us the menus. That was just weird. Why would she do that? I mean, what was the point?? I find the presentation of the restaurant really confusing. I used to go to Tipperary's when it was on Greenville. Now, THAT was an Irish pub. This place looks the part but it plays country music as if were a BBQ or cheap steak place. The waitresses, some of them, wear exceedingly short Catholic school uniforms suggesting that it is more like a Twin Peaks or Bone Daddy's. The food is far superior to Twin Peaks and falls short of Bone Daddy's. The restaurant is on the west side of McKinney where you would expect a more educated clientele with a broader pallette but the menu, as previous reviewers have said, seems to be addressing an uneducated and inexperienced clientele by saying, "if you haven't ever had this, don't order it". Personally, I find that insulting. I was raised to never turn my nose up at new food and that is one of the few things I truly enjoy about traveling. There are other restaurants that I have gone to and enjoyed the food without having any idea what it was (Indian, Mediterranean, Ethiopian). I can't help but think that this is their way of covering for poor quality. If the food is good, why be afraid of letting people try it? Considering where the restaurant is, it can't be blamed on the population. With the kind of wealth in the area, we aren't exactly talking local yokels here. I've seen some reviews on Delaney's that defend it saying that it is a neighborhood sports bar, nothing more and nothing less. Maybe, but that would be a shame because I think it has a lot more potential than that. read more

I will not drink out of a glass w/out a straw or order draft beer anymore. I woke up the next morning after drink draft beer from Delaney's and woke up and my mouth was very sore and hurt really bad. Thinking about all of the reasons behind this there were only 2...either their cleaning product for their dishes irritated me or a glass was not cleaned. I am usually very good at checking my glasses before drinking out of it, but it is pooly lit inside this pub and wouldnt have mattered. I would have rated it ZERO if I could. Absolutely horrible service. Waitstaff that doesn't know what they carry and attempts to make excuses when the food is prepared incorrectly. Some dishes are grossly overpriced for what they serve - no consistency. I have been served a fork with a quarter-size gob of melted Cheddar on it - it was wrapped up with a knife in a cloth napkin. It may have been washed though that didn't stop them from nicely wrapping it in a cloth napkin and giving it to a customer. I have been served the wrong beer and they told they can't take beer back even though THEY brought the wrong one (I hadn't even tasted it - not that they could serve it again). Why would you go to a place that treats their customers like that? I have been going to Delaney's since they opened and it used to be a good restaurant and pub when Blue Tate owned but it has really gone down hill. I guess people don't know that it changed hands. The last time my girlfriend and I went there everything seemed 'okay' - not great but okay - but certainly not like the old days. After all the problems I had experienced there, I foolishly gave it one more chance (I _WANT_ it to be a good place!) and noting that the place was about 60% full, I decided to eat instead of just having a pint and grabbed a tall table closest to the kitchen. After delivering my beer it easily took ten minutes for them to ask me if I wanted food. I ordered the easiest thing to make besides fries, and that was nachos - simple and tasty, chicken or beef, lots of cheese (with jalapenos, pico, sour cream and salsa on the side - so says the menu). It took about eight minutes for the nachos to hit the kitchen window - and there they sat (and, yes, I timed it because there were five waitresses standing at the window chatting and counting their money and none of them thought to bring my food out to the _closest_ table to the kitchen). It sat there for six minutes. When it was finally delivered everything was integrated onto one plate. I can't eat that many jalapenos without souring my stomach. When I explained that the menu description says that all that stuff is on the side, she countered, "We don't do that anymore." If you are too cheap to reprint a page of your menu, shouldn't you tell the customer that it has changed? I asked her to have it remade. It was done in five minutes and served promptly. Then she asked if I wanted another beer. I asked about St. Arnold's Santo that I hadn't tasted yet. She said it was dark and heavy. It is a Kolsch style beer (but dark rather than the typically very pale style). It is light in body, so she clearly knew nothing of the product she was selling. This sounded puzzling so I asked if I could get a taste and she told me that tastes were $1. I'd open a bar in a heartbeat if I could sell beer for $1 an ounce!! They have 52 beers on tap and I really want to have a good beer place near my house but it seems clear that they simply don't care. I can only guess that they must be in financial trouble if they must charge for a taste of beer and don't want to put the nacho sides in plastic cups. Considering the amount of patrons, one must infer that there financial concerns are a management directive and when restaurant management starts taking shortcuts, watch out, especially in the realm of food safety. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE!! I am about a patient as it comes, but I have been to Delaney's twice now and almost walked out. A friend and I went the other night to watch the last half of the Cowboy's game and have a drink. I asked our waitress what the drink specials were and she said they didn't really have any, the beers were almost $5.00 (and from what I've heard from on line reviews they're flat and old). We each ordered a cranberry vodka and after she delivered it she never came back. No water, no menus, no asking if we were doing OK, NOTHING! Come to find out they have a Miller Lite pint special during Cowboys games... She walked by our table a couple of times without even acknowledging us and yawning the whole time. My Dad told us that he went there recently the food was awful, so we weren't going to order any food anyway, but she could have at least asked!? We waited about 10 minutes for her to finally come pick up our checks and she ASSUMED my left over change was her tip and never brought it back. My friend used her debit card and the girl added more money onto her tip when she charged it! McKinney is a beautiful city with TONS of small town restaurants and bars where you can find great food, service, and atmosphere. This is not one of them, they have royally disappointed me. This spot is very close to the hizouse...so we thought we'd check it out. We weren't looking for anything revolutionary, but honestly were just looking for a decent burger and beer. Initially, we were pretty impressed to see some of the selection of draught beer... I'm not trying to say my honey and I are Certified Cicerones or anything, but we do occasionally like to have a brew other than Miller, Bud or Coors. Hubby ordered a standard Guinness and I ordered a Maredsous 8. These are beers we both have previously enjoyed on various occasions. On this day, we did not. I don't know if there is an issue with the taps...or what...but wow these beers were not good. The Guinness bore a vague resemblance to itself and my Maredsous had turned into something else entirely. After not being able to finish my beer, I ordered a Miller Lite to see if that fared better. This round was indeed better but only marginally...the place was pretty busy - so I don't understand why the domestic light beer wouldn't be pretty fresh and regularly rotated... Being that the beer part of our visit was pretty sad...we were in the running for a 1 star review. We both ordered cheeseburgers and these were there only redeeming feature of the evening. Nothing revolutionary, but a sound hamburger that home grilling could only silghtly improve. We may indeed return for a burger (I'd say alone they're about 3 stars), but we won't likely order any brew. read more

Well, the place smelled like rotting food and other combinations of vomit, sweat and piss. Went in for a drink with a friend. Bar was littered with empty glasses, crumbs and otherwise dirty. I had to ask the bartender to wipe down the bar because she didn't after coming over to U.S. After at least a 10 minute wait. It was not busy and there were two other bartenders on. My family and I have been here a few times since we live in the neighborhood. I agreeed to go last night to get Corned beef and cabbage for my husband. I've never really had a great meal here, but nothing to bad to complain about.. except last night. First it took about 10 mins to get some waters and a milk for my 2 year old daughter, bad start, I gave my daughter her milk without testing it first, well lesson learned, after she drank, I took a sip.... IT WAS CHUNKY! I'm not sure what was in it, but it wasn't right, didn't taste right, I spit it out immediatly... So lesson learned for this mommy... I don't quite understand any bad reviews for this place. I love this place. They have over 30 different beers on tap...a very diverse selection. Atmosphere is great tasteful live music. If you like sweet potato fries...hands down theirs are the best. I go there just for that with a draft beer. All hamburgers are great and huge. Me and the wife walk in and the first thing we notice is the smell. Moldy and disgusting. Clean the place. We sit down to order. I order a Bud Lt draft; wife orders jack and coke. Wife orders sweet potato fries the come out like waffle fries with cinnamon sprinkled on them. You could tell the were frozen. So we order another round of drinks. The waitress brings my wife her jack and coke tells me they are switching out the bud lt keg. I say ok. She finally brings my beer and tells me that's the last bud lt draft beer. I thought you just said you were switching out the keg. I take one sip of this beer and it's not bud lt. Did you run out of bud lt. Someone not doing there job. I'm not happy. I have worked for Anhuieser Busch/Budweiser for 10 yrs. don't try to pass some bullshit beer on me that I didn't order. Bad customer service. I send it back. Some guy in a lite blue shirt and blue jeans came over to plead his case that he is the one that poured it and it was bud lt. Wife gets uncomfortable in these situations. So I bit my tongue. It really pissed me off that this establishment would try and insult my intelligence. It's really sad that we have two bars about a mile apart from each other that are just horrible, filthy establishments that continue to try a rip off the customer. From the ownership on down. I will not visit Jacks or Delaneys for a very long time. They both need to call Bar Rescue. He would tear into there asses. It sad that we live in McKinney and this is what we got for a couple bars. My wife and I have a love/hate thing going with Delaney's. We live locally (5 minutes within walking distance) so we stop in more than we probably should for a late dinner or quick bite to eat. We like the place, but it has become an exercise in frustration. Those that frequent the place will tell you- the food is not the problem. Most of the items on the menu- some of which are very unique- are pretty darn good. Where Delaney's fails continuously is its inability to provide consistent quality service and timely food delivery. We tell everyone in McKinney who ask us about the place- "Hey its a great beer/sports hangout and the food is good, but you'll be wondering where or who your waitress is half the time, and why it takes 20 minutes to get an appetizer." And sadly, no statement could be more accurate of this place- just read the reviews. Not sure why the owner can't find good help, but if he ever does, I think this place would stay even more packed than it is now, which is pretty respectable bar traffic throughout the week. So, food, I would say: 4/5 Service Quality: 1/5 Food wait time: 2/5 I give it a 3 for now in hopes that the owner will hire MORE and BETTER wait staff. Irish Pub in the neighborhood but the food is inconsistent. The Irish fare is excellent and has great flavor but many times the food is lukewarm, veggies not cooked. But the biggest disappointment is the Reuben Sandwich. When we first started going to Delaney's the Reuben was excellent. Now is seems as if they pulled left over corned beef from the "corned beef and cabbage" menu item. Way to thick for a sandwich and tough as nails to bite through. Also service is very, very slow. Tuesday, June 30, 2015 Just got home and I'm not happy. Service was slow. Ordered Drinks. Took 15 min to get a wine and a cocktail. Ordered an appetizer. Took 30 min to get an appetizer. Ordered the Texas Taters. It's like the inside of a loaded baked potato rolled in breadcrumbs and deep fried, served with a ranch like dipping sauce. These are not made fresh. They are a food supplier product that come in frozen and then cooked. The inside should be light and fluffy, hot and fresh. Ours were under cooked, runny inside like an under cooked boiled egg. Our entrees took an additional 30 minutes to be served. Wife ordered a pasta dish with blackened chicken. It was good but not great. Swimming in olive oil. Me, Fish and chips. Pub style fish and chips should be batter dipped and fried to a crisp golden brown. The fish was dark brown, soaked with oil and the breading was falling off and burned. 30 TV's all set to women's soccer. Women's soccer is fine with me but some of us would have enjoyed watching the Ranger's game. Really! not one TV on a different channel? All of this for $50. Easily the worst food and dinning experience in McKinney. How does this place stay in business? Stop going to this place! read more

Had just an okay experience. Service wasn't great. Went on a Sunday. Around 1pm. It wasn't overly full. Plenty of empty seats. Asked to turn a game on a tv near us since they only had this game on one tv and it was on the other side of the room. They refused to turn it even though others also asked for that exact game and no one was watching the tv. Food was subpar. Nothing special. Bar food. I had the turkey sliders and they were great!! I would definitely order them again. They have a zillion beers on tap and this place is WAY bigger then it appears from the outside. We recently moved to McKinney and are working our way through the restaurants in the area. In spite of the so so reviews for Delaney's we decided to try it on a recent weeknight since it is close by. I pull up outside and my husband (who arrived first) met me at the curb to let me know that they lost their liquor license and have no beer. WHAT?! What kind of Pub doesn't have beer. So we went next door to Market Street and bought a six pack of Guinness and BYOB'd it. The fried mashed potato balls for an appetizer were pretty good, but just fair. Good enough for beer and football. My husband had the fish and chips...so so. I had the corned beef sandwich....again so so. I got exactly what the reviews told me...so so. read more
