I understand the pandemic and how they can affect the restaurant but I think this Denny was awful most awful than I've ever been too. The waiter told me that is a wait, but as we were sitting and waiting many customers was leaving and the waiter didn't call for a next party and more customers were leaving they didn't call for the next customers and we're sitting there for exactly 37 minutes. When I asked her how long is the way she said an extra 20 to 30 minutes from our time. I explained to her that she should have told me instead of saying be a little wait. A little wait is not 45 mins . I don't think they care because they're about to close at 10:00 and we were there at 8:15. We left at 9:00 cuz it was so ridiculous. read more

This restaurant is the best Denny's I've been so far, it's a very clean place. The customer service is so amazing and everyone is always checking up on you if you would like anything else. My food was great it wasn't cold at all also, my server was really fast bring out the food and taking our order. I didn't need to ask for napkins or syrup, he already had brought it to the table. Disgusting. It was my first time having Denny's and it was just so horrible. We got nachos with no pico de gallo and you can tell they put some soggy ground beef soup to cover it up. The chips in the nachos were weak and cheap. The cinnamon pancakes were burnt, hash-browns crunchy like some damn potato chips. Haven't been to downtown area of Long Beach in a very long time. We decided to visit the Denny's on corner of LB Blvd and Sixth street. We found it and parked in their large parking lot, and were immediately approached for spare change. Yikes, should we go any further? We did go in and we could have a choice of seats. We chose a table as we were four and wanted to be somewhat secluded and have some conversation. The table we were assigned was directly under a cold vent, so we moved to a booth. The young waiter, Juan, was very good, got us all the drinks and our orders in. We asked if there was any chance to turn down the background music just a little bit. He advised that the manager was asked. Our food orders came and the veggie omelette is still a winner for me. I had the two shortcakes and potatoes with the omelette. Others ordered the Bourbon Bacon hamburger with seasoned fries, and a Club sandwich that looked really good. I heard no complaints about the food, but unfortunately the background music with the hip hoppity beat just kept on blaring loudly. We managed to converse and finish the food, but we decided we could go elsewhere to finish our conversations. Too bad, cause I was wanting some dessert. Second time I gave this Denny's a chance. First time they screwed up my order and had to wait 20 mins for a TO GO order I made over the phone when I got there. Fast forward to today. Just right now I ordered a to go order they said would be ready in 10 mins. I arrive and they say it's almost ready. Wait 10 mins more. They approach me with a bag and read off the wrong order, and I tell them that's not mine. It's literally a Wed and there's like 10 customers in the whole place. The manager finds the woman who took my order and I tell her what I ordered, and she walks over to the computer and starts typing in my order. Seriously? No apology or nothing. I ask her if she's literally just typing in my order right now and she says yes. I tell her to not bother and walk out the door. How incompetent can you be. Very unorganized on Mother's day, I ordered on grubhub for pickup and had to ask about 3 times if there was any order under my name ready before i received a response. They were unprepared and short staffed, my order was then taken to a table set up outside of the restaurant after it had been sitting on the counter. I followed the staff member and asked if that was a pickup order she stated no it was grubhub and walked away. I had to go outside and again ask her if she could please check if it was under my name she finally checked and behold it was my food that had been sitting for about 20 minutes. In one of the order, I placed an order of the "build your own sampler" of chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and bacon cheddar tots. When I got the food delivered, I realized that I paid $10 for a plate of appetizers that looks like a cheap meal for $3. I called the store and the manager to see if there if the total of each pieces should be so, and she told me that the food does come that way. This review is only for this Denny's as I have never been to any other one that lacked service. We came in around 3pm to be rudely addressed by one of their female servers. She was very dismissive upon taking our order as well as lacking service. Sadly, the server came back to check on us only once and never returned. We had to wave down the three managers sitting down at the table laughing among each other and discussing something in Spanish. When we finally got the three managers' attention, one of them came and too was acting dismissive and exhibited a terrible demeanor; as if we inconvenienced him for asking for a water refill. As time flew, we finished our meals and had to wait a long time for our check because we had to wave someone down again! When we went to check out, you guessed it; I had to wait AGAIN! One of the managers; the younger one with a blue dress shirt had passed by me several times between going to the entrance and the kitchen, not offering to just ring me up. He was busy putting "Caution/Wet," signs on the floor which was not even wet! This experience was terrible; managers are subpar in customer service & this reflects along their direct reports. Don't go to this place; doesn't matter what time of the day. We went at a slow hour and had a nightmare experience, I don't want to find out how they operate during busy times. read more

So I decided to give this Denny's another try- the last time I was here it wasn't the greatest experience but this time was surprisingly different. Im very confused about these reviews. While many people express a negative experience, I actually had a good one. Yvette served us and made sure everything was perfect. She did so good that our coffee cups never went empty, nor cold, and assured we had creamer with every refill. She was very friendly and exemplifies characteristics of a great waiter. At approximately 2am my party of 2 and I were seated. At approximately 2:14am, a baby roach was seen crawling on the wall. I highly recommend this location get a termite/insect professional in as soon as possible. This was not something that I'd expect for a first time visit here at this Long Beach location. I should've taken a picture of the little guy but I just decided to leave instead. Not in the best area of Long Beach. It's busy so my husband and I had to wait like ten minutes or so for a table but the server was nice and fairly quick. It was also very convenient being like 4 minutes from our motel (driving). I got a grilled cheese with avocado and I was a little disappointed that it wasn't melted enough however my salad was really fresh and my mozzarella sticks were melted enough. LOVE THIS PLACE! Denny's on Long Beach Blvd, Downtown LB Always great service, and good solid food, a wide variety, with changing menu specials. Place is kept very clean. Staff is friendly and smiling, really take care of you, and we love Armeda and Oscar who are 2 of the best servers in Long Beach. Been coming here for 20 years. The manager is a very nice fellow and is always busy, yet always stops by our table to say hello. The only downside is that in the summer the air conditioner is always malfunctioning, and the place can get REALLY hot. Bad enough for the customers, we saw some folks walk out because there was no A/C, (I admit we have done that ourselves on super hot days) so the owners are losing $$$$ there. This is not new, this has been for several years now so the owners know about it. And the cooks and servers must be under a lot of heat stress, sweating and near fainting, especially if it gets busy. How do the owners expect an employee to work under these terrible conditions? I do not know who owns this place but they need to FIX the A/C. They are losing $$$ daily and treating their employees badly. Please, many customers were complaining today, some walked out, and I bet the workers do not say anything, they just suffer on and do their jobs, but WE the customers are concerned. The food took a while, but to be fair the waitress warned us that it would take 30 minutes to get our food. We did wait a longer time and don't blame the waitress. We waited probably an hour and a half or so for food and our stay was about 2 hours. Didn't get a lot of fries (looked like maybe 10 fries). The server said that they just got new cooks and they kinda cook the food in whatever order even if it's some other tables order before ours. My first mind was to go to the one on Bellflower, I should've listened!!!! I took my godson here because it was close to his house. We get there and we are seated pretty fast. Now mind you we passed up a lot of empty tables and booths to get sat in the back of the restaurant. The waitress gives me a child menu for my godson and an adult menu with the holiday crap in it. No problem. I get my godsons order together and give it to our waitress. I then ask her for the regular menu and she proceeds to tell me the menu she gave me was the only one they have.
