It is a scorcher outside. Denny's was cool inside and 6 of us were seated at a table towards the back. I thank the early dinner hour for a peaceful and unhurried setting. This Denny's looks like it had a good make over since the explosive ordeal (IYKYK). Emily came over and got our drinks as well as our orders. Well, two hungry high-school aged lads were ready for the big hamburgers, a big bacon cheeseburger and a Triple Juicy burger. We also had bbq bacon and grilled chicken sandwich and the young server made a correction with the kitchen .... the lovely missus orered onion rings but got French fries instead. I had the chicken tenders with broccoli and corn for sides and my sweet tooth opted for a chocolate shake with whipped cream on top. This Denny's has always given us good food and helpful able service. We thank our lucky stars that on this 113*F heat, that we could walk over rather than ride in a hot car... Well I always go to Dennys food is normally very good . But on this occasion a lot of downfalls . My season fries where dry and way over cooked. My fault for not asking to redo . My daughter steak was over cooked and her mashed potatoes where COLD . I tasted them to see they where and they where . Good taste though . The young gentleman who helped us polite , but nothing Was done to have my fries redone . After I told him about them. I think he was a little overwhelmed . But he stayed polite . Stopped in for a bite from a long trip. I liked the building as it had the old-timey yet modern vibe that matched the surrounding area. Came with my two boys because my little one loves the spaghetti here. Was greeted by a nice lady to have a seat. Then a couple came in before us it's a good thing they mentioned we were waiting to be seated. This other lady brings us to get seated. There was maybe 3 different waitresses passing us not one acknowledged we were there not even asking for our drinks. If my son didn't want the spaghetti I would've picked up and left. Finally the waitress comes and takes our order not even apologizing for anything, I get it's Sunday and crowded. It's like the waitress taking our order it was such an inconvenience to assist. Could it be that the Denny's in San Diego compared to Palm Springs, are much more friendlier and engaging with their customers .... Last night's experience at Denny's on Palm Canyon drive takes the crown for the most unfriendliest staff during non-busy hour. Upon entry last night (12/18/24, 930pm), we were acknowledged with, "sit wherever you want to sit." (calm monotone voice). Staff that said this was also the same person that semi-served us during our late meal last night. Lots of booths-by-windows to choose from. Definitely happy to see that. After all, there were only two tables occupied and a third, with us. My partner ordered a steak and broccoli dish (no bueno, just basic). I, on the other hand, ordered breakfast. I love my buttermilk pan cakes at Denny's. This is actually the one BIG reason why I go to Denny's over IHOP, Carrows, Cocos and Marie Calendars- pancakes! And, last night the pancakes were on point... thick, fluffy, soft, and delicious. Scrambled eggs were on the skimpy side. The bacon strips weren't crispy, as I had requested "cooked and crunchy." Instead, the bacon strips were on the tough side like beef jerky. Food was either good or I was just plain hungry. Nonetheless my dish was consumed with no other issues. Honestly, Denny's actually save the day for us because all the other restaurants on the strip were closed for the day. Now, for our server ... she took our order, served our drinks and meals. Ok good. Short and not so sweet, but basic. She definitively had zero pleasantries and attentiveness, which I think is key to good customer service in restaurant business. And, if she was having a bad day, she could have asked a co-worker to help her out (there was one present and then another came out later). If that wasn't going to work, then maybe she could have just faked being friendly. She was nowhere to be found in the restaurant. She didn't communicate to us. My guess, she was on a break. I ordered a basic breakfast with eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, and pancake. It has been a long time since I have been to Denny's and I went this time because there was a coupon for my birthday. We walked to Denny's on Saturday morning and we were famished. I ordered the 9 grain pancakes, egg white scramble, turkey bacon, seasonal fruit and coffee. I enjoy a good cup of black coffee and this one hit the spot! It was fresh and stayed hot until the last sip (a plus for me). The pancakes were fluffy and delicious and the eggs with spinach and tomatoes was tasty, the turkey bacon was yummy as well with just the right thickness! My honey ordered the chicken fried steak plate and he said it was good! We ate all of our food! If ever we're in the area again we'll definitely go to Denny's. The cook Miguel is horrible. He messed our food up more than once and was making it harder for the only server working tonight. He forgot 2 slices of French toast on our meal, he burnt our onion rings, didn't melt the cheese on the eggs and just threw it on there and then he also burnt the fries with the bacon avocado burger. He was wearing AirPods and he tried to give us an egg that he reheated in the microwave. Was very rude to staff . The only good thing that came out of this experience was our wonderful server. We eat here at least three times a week and always enjoy the food and service. The over 55 Slam Menu offers so many different options we are always trying something different but return for the $8.99 burger with fries. It's your 1950's classic char-broiled chuck handmade burger on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and a nice slice of red onion. It's an honest to goodness American Hamburger and really good. It's not messed up with spices or Chef's touches, just a great burger. We went to the Ritz Carlton and had Bison Burgers for $26 and stopped on the way home because we were still hungry. All the breakfast Slams are a deal and good too. There are endless combinations. We enjoy the crowds and families with children as we don't see ours often but when we want a quieter meal, we skip the busy hours and just go earlier or later. Servers, are always helpful and if one is busy, they work as teams to make sure they keep a smile on your face. Even the manager will help! read more

I have to give Denny's in Palm Springs 5 stars. We were just down there for the day and looking for a breakfast place. This was not our first choice, but everything was super crowded and we ended up here. First off, which we didn't know, is they require not only masks, but vaccine cards. I personally thought that was cool. Tiffany was our waitress and she was great. My girlfriend ordered the grand slam with two eggs, hashbrowns, English muffin, and regular pancakes. She was very impressed and ate it all up. I ordered the banana cream pancake breakfast which came with two eggs over medium and hashbrowns. Awesome! This is one of the best Denny's I have been too. This is what's left of my delicious Birthday (Everyday Value Slam)! I am glad that April recommended the most excellent pancakes - they were ligh, fluffy and didn't need to be drowned in syrup like the ones I get elsewhere so..., This IMHO is what a family run business should strive for, the employees are consistently friendly (they work together to accommodate every need of the diners here) and I cannot even imagine how good the Salted Carmel Banana ones will be... I am looking forward to another visit next week to find out, it has been 5 years since my husband passed away 5 years ago and we spent a LOT of dinners together at this location so it has been a little difficult getting over my grief but this visit helped me heal! Like I've said before, a Denny's tends to start with 3 stars and can vary a little from there. I was doing my own thing on this particular day, it was toward the evening, I was hungry, and I needed to get back. So, I went into this Denny's on Palm Canyon Drive for a quick dinner. If I'm not mistaken, Denny's was born in SoCal, possibly in La Mirada. Like many other places, they are now headquartered elsewhere, outside of California. With their kitsch and dated boilerplate look, they had to have been born in SoCal! I went in, it wasn't too crowded, I was seated, and there was nothing unusual or worth noting about the restaurant, the ordering process, and their bringing out the food. In fact, an employee was cleaning one part of the seating area when I was in there, because I would have liked to sit over there. My server was good at what they did. I'm looking at some of these photos others have put up and they do not look appetizing. I generally don't get food that looks like that. It tends to look like it does in the menu photos. I often get a little slab of nicely priced salmon if I go in around dinner. However, this time I got the Super Bird, a poultry and melted cheese sandwich on sourdough bread. It came with fries. I hadn't had one in a long time and it was still the same Super Bird - meaning it was tasty - I tended to order at Denny's in downtown Vancouver, Canada where I'd sit by the windows and marvel at how less hick it can be north of the border. Based on how big they look, I don't order any of Denny's burgers. Of the sandwiches, the Super Bird works fine for me. There are several Denny's in the Palm Springs area, it seems, and two of them are smartly placed along the 111 arc. There's this one on Palm Canyon Drive, a little north of all the shopping, and the one in Cathedral City, further down 111. You can definitely expect to see those doing the Palm Springs thing on the cheap in here, and there's nothing wrong with that. Except that there was a large group of apparent 909ers eating a few tables over and their unruly kids were annoying. While I don't smoke, I could definitely have visualized people sitting in this one, and the one in Cathedral City, at crazy hours back in the day, with coffee that was constantly warmed up and a cigarette going, when coffee shops were the " go to" place for that demographic. So, this Denny's gets 4 stars. I liked how easygoing the experience was and the nice backdrop of mountains looming behind its parking lot. And, it's definitely nice to periodically get one of those scannable coupons in my e-mail, which makes it more likely that I will go in and get myself that little slab of salmon before it expires. read more
