We ordered fried chicken sandwich and sirloin steak. The waitress asked what 2 sides I want with my steak, I ordered mashed potatoes and MAC & cheese. Seasoned fries with the chicken sandwich. When we got the bill, they charged 1.60 extra for the fries, and .70 for the mac & cheese. It wasn't mentioned that different sides required extra charge. Visiting PS for the first time and this was the only decent restaurant open near our hotel for a late night eat (closes at midnight). My husband and I were delightfully surprised to see a very well-kept and clean Denny's. We haven't been to one for years so entering this establishment was awesome. Menu seems updated and visually pleasing. Many great options. Fast and friendly service. Food was delectable. We ordered the ultimate omelette and classic patty melt to share. So good. Kudos to the chef/cook who has been serving delicious meals for 30+ years per our waitress Monica. So glad this was a pleasant first impression on our arrival in PS. After a night out of dancing or out on the town for an eve... it's a comfort place to meet up and have a quick bite to eat or drink and socialize. They always have the nice cool air conditioning to accommodate, when it's a scorcher outside. When it's 120 degrees outside, it feels great! Thank you Denny's! What can you expect from Denny's but good ole' American food and Apple Pie! The food selections are always up to par at this location too! If you need to swap something out from the menu, they are willing to accommodate. The hospitality service is always so accommodating, so the managers have done their job well at this location too. Yesterday my nephew and I went to Denny's for a meal before he drove home. We were looking for something light. Once seated, I changed my mind as I remembered they had good Club Sandwiches. Sadly, they've changed their menu replacing the old traditional with some new variations. I opted for the always popular pancakes with strawberries and banana topping. I'm sure glad I did. I forgot how tasty the pancakes were. The service was good as well. In fact, since I live near I have decided to return more often. My at home pancakes have nothing on Denny's. The atmosphere was clean, and good vibes too. I haven't been for awhile. Last time they were service outside at the back of the store. 1201 N. Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA location on New Year's Day at about 6pm we three arrived and began to wait and wait just to be seated with approximately 14 customers seated. After waiting for well over ten minutes and watching both the Manager, 'Amber' an older, grumpy caucasian woman and a waitress a very short round Hispanic woman, Monica, run around doing nothing of real importance, we hadn't even received a verbal or visual acknowledgement of our presence. A larger family of five and a separate elderly woman arrived moments after us. They left after being upset there hadn't been any acknowledgement of their presence as well. After several more minutes, I finally walked over to the waitress, Monica, who hadn't served any customer, but had continued doing minor tasks and asked her please not continue to ignore us. We were met with a very defensive attitude from the waitress (Monica), stating that she was "very busy serving customers", which in fact she had not done, as we closely watched her ignore us. I asked if we could seat ourselves and Monica gruffly said we could not and that she would be with us shortly. This of course did not happen. Meanwhile, I was covertly videotaping their lack of acknowledgement, professionalism or respect and their attention to minor tasks. The grumpy Manager, Amber, finally made her appearance not having seen, heard or been present during any of this circumstance. She immediately became hostile and was also defensive. While trying to reason with the waitress to seat us, she continued to defensively make endless excuses. I pointed out that she had spent FAR more time engaging in combative, defensive verbalization than it would have taken to seat us. At this point, the grumpy, now hostile Manager Amber decided it was appropriate to rush over and level harassment accusations then, picked up the phone and threatened to call 911. I responded by telling Amber to please call 911 utilizing the Emergency System for something that was nowhere near an emergency (which can be a crime). I further told her that I was former Law Enforcement and knew what they would tell her, especially after reviewing the entirety of cellular video I had captured. I am not the kind of person that wants to see most people lose their job, but these two really require a demotion to a non-public position at Denny's or a move on to a factory job. Look for the full video on TikTok and YouTube so you can see there was no bias in this representation of their aggregious behaviour. It's no doubt a portion of the reasons for an average rating of 3 out of 5 stars is due to this utter lack of professionalism and a complacency that no consequence would befall these two (Waitress, Monica / Manager, Amber) We also left thereafter, so, congratulations Denny's for losing nine customers in short order and a bit more of your reputation. We will follow up with a Corporate contact and Ownership to determine what their potential remedy to this circumstance will be and post the results on a later date. The consumer has power to effect positive change by accurately documenting performance and product. As a Surveillance Investigator of almost 30 years, it's impossible to argue covert video and you are within your legal right to do so. The ironic thing here is that this location has security video equipment meant to capture negative occurrences. I wonder if they would also be willing to review the same video to determine the lack of worker integrity. Apparently not, unless they think it's okay that Waitress Monica and Manager Amber are somehow justified in their horrible treatment of customers. read more
