If could give a negative review I would. The night time waitress is extremely incompetent. She messed up all of our orders, ignored us and had the odasity to overbill us. Also, when we asked for a refill on our iced teas she put her fingers in the glass to refill them. I just had breakfast at the Denny's right down the street from my dealership and had a great experience. Elizabeth was my waitress, she was fast and efficient. So.. a Denny's is a Denny's.. I only come here after concerts since I know it's open and not too far from the freeway... So last night I went here and the service was way worse than usual... we sat there for fifteen minutes before anyone even came over to us for drinks... then he just took our whole order.. that was after two of the servers were arguing in Spanish about which one has our table... so yeah.. after that is was all gravy but personally, I think that was pretty lame... I've become somehow attached to the cherry cherry limeade they have here.. but DON'T eat the garnish it tastes soooo nasty.. the cherry tastes like horrific lime... I either get one of the breakfast slams or a sandwich when I come here. The ranch chicken melt is pretty decent... When you go to their bathrooms.. the soap smells really disgusting too so try and avoid that =P The service sucks.. the food is... well... Yes this is a Denny's, but we had the best experience here! I got their healthy breakfast that came with a egg white scramble with tomatoes and spinach. It also came with an English muffin and turkey bacon (which the hubby ate for me). What I liked most about this experience was that our waiter was the best. He was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. And to my surprise he brought out a cute glass with a pile of fruit in it. I didn't even know that came with my food! read more

My grandma, who likes really plain tasting American food, was disappointed when we ate here shortly after Christmas. For four people the bill came to $50, and only one person enjoyed the dinner. I ordered a veggie burger. The bun was chewy and the veggie burger tough, like it had been reheated throughout the day. My husband ordered some sort of fish dish, which was apparently all breading and no meat. The place was freezing, like they were trying to save money on heating. We were all in out hats and coats. I really like this Denny's. I am here about once a month for meetings (group about 10-15) and this past Sunday for a 25 person breakfast. They have a nice large room in the back. They tend to do really well as far as service for large groups. We had to add an extra table and then we still needed another one that would't fit at our table but was near us (poor planning on our part as we expected less people) so they did a really good job trying to accommodate our group (note we also called a week or two before to let them know we would be having 20-25 people and then we called once more the morning of per the managers request, to remind them again). I had an original Grand Slam. My over-medium eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage and bacon was great. The pancakes were typical Denny's amazing fluffy greatness. They did forget toast for my uncle who ordered the Lumberjack slam next to me. They also burned my grandfather's skillet so much that the food was black and he couldn't eat it (Not sure what he ate but they had no problems removing his plate from our bill). Considering our large group this was not so bad. The other skillets ordered in our large group of 25 were not burned. The food took a little long but once again reasonable for our large party. The back room was very clean (not the case for their restrooms). And parking was easy to find despite a super busy Sunday morning (we arrived about 10:30). read more

This Denny's seems to have gone through a transformation within the last year. They remodeled the lobby, got more staff, and installed Denny's TV's (all the local Denny's got them) So far I've been here 3 times since my last review. With the added staff the waitresses and waiters are way more attentive. I had my coffee refilled no less than 3 times this morning while eating. Between the Denny's on Blossom Hill and this one, I'm starting to favor this one a little more. The wait staff is way more attentive and they help each other out. None of that "Well it's not my customer" bs. We were sat by our waitress who immediately got us some drinks, then another lady came by and laid out silverware for us. The only complaint I had today was that my eggs had a touch of grey on them. I also don't see quite the same level of teamwork that my favorite Dennys (Vagabon Inn, First street) has. It's definitely gotten some improvement since then, worthy of 3 more stars. read more

Why did I go to Denny's?? To get a take-out sandwich. I realize you get what you pay for so I don't expect five star quality. BUT, I do expect the basic regulations of sanitation to be followed and they were not. There was a long piece of hair in my BLT. Since it was take out I did nothing but call back. However, on Monday I will be calling the health department. It is the most BASIC of food handling knowledge to tie back your hair back and wash your hands. If you fail at either of those two simple tasks you can make people sick or at the very least gross someone out! This location is very close to my home. Therefor, I come here often. Every other time I come the host always ends up making a mistake on my order. They either forget to bring me something I ordered prior or get my order wrong. I have had issues with them almost every time which makes it very frustrating. read more

After having to walk out of the nearly empty dennys on Capitol having been sat and ignored for 20 minutes with no contact from our waitress whatsoever, it was clear we should have came to this location first. It had been years since the last time we went to Denny's. The ones in our area either lack flavor or their customer service is bad. On our way back from a family outing we decided to stop here based on reviews and I'm glad we did. The server (Heriberto if I catched his name right) was great. Based on what I ordered, he suggested something I didn't see in the menu that was delicious. He had great attention to detail. Brought an extra plate for my toddlers to share food without us having to ask and wait longer to feed them before our food was ready. The food was very good and tasty. The wait was reasonable. If we are back in the area we are stopping here again. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Ok, it's Denny's but sometimes when you are in the mood for a yummy shake and fries late at night the food isn't so bad. This Denny's is the only one I go to when in San Jose. Other locations, not so good. Bought the Turkey Dinner for take out and when I got home found out there was no stuffing and no Cranberry Sauce with my meal. This is why I hesitate going to a restaurant during the pandemic. Sorry for the late review, went there last Saturday 5/25. Having breakfast with my family. We had order a strawberry lemonade and we couldn't find our waiter. This is my favorite Dennys. There is something about this location that makes it feel so warm and welcoming.

The Lil girl in the front watched as we walked in, slumped leaning on the counter and still waited to walk up to seat us till I was standing there waiting for about two minutes as she watched us while she was doing nothing at all. One more Denny's restaurant on my Best Denny's for any "road trip" restaurant list. This one is the South San Jose and Hillsdale Capitol Mall location. It's tucked away so keep your eyes open. What factors make me appreciate outstanding Denny's? Hands on management who remember you and happy employees equals great food. Manager Heriberto is a manager who will fist bump you into the Denny's family. He always remembers me and greets with a welcoming smile. Everything on their menu is good. I love the 55 and over Omelet and fruit. If truth be told I always order a small stack of pancakes to go with my eggs. My server, Jasmine, indulged me with my eccentric coffee request for half decaf and half regular coffee, with a smile. Try this place I don't think you will regret it. I even drive past much closer Denny's to get to this one when I'm in the mood for comfort food. Five stars for this American diner. read more
