Salted Caramel & Banana Cream Pancake Breakfast w/ Hasbrowns.

The service from the greeter(s) and our waitress was amazing! Everyone else ate their food, except me, mainly for the reason of how long we had to wait. Yes. We did have a larger party. But it was because they supposedly only had 2 cooks. Our waitress was cooking on top of serving. So, yes, we were warned of the wait time, but it went over that said wait time. On top of everything, some people from our party heard an employee, or several employees, say that the temperature in this restaurant was set on 75 degrees. I have very bad hot flashes, due to past medical trauma and my medication. But to have the temperature set on 75 degrees DURING mid-end summer, is RIDICULOUS! The employees were so miserable and my party was miserable just sitting here! To add onto everything, I don't know if it's coincidental, but everytime I, personally, go to any Denny's location, it's the same experience. I understand we are in a pandemic, but it's ridiculous how even away from a pandemic, it's the same experience. *My star rating is NOT based on our server, but based on the overall place*

A quick look at Yelp showed Strawn's Eat Shop listed at number one in diners locally. The inside is a mix of old timey and funky with lots of creative murals painted on the walls. We quickly received our drinks and ordered. Our waitress was outstanding but I didn't get her name. Our food was soon there and we dug in. My chicken fried steak was good but the mashed potatoes and cornbread were the stars. I'm not a big fan of salad or green beans but they were pretty good for vegetation. My wife enjoyed her catfish basket. She prefers cornmeal on catfish over flour breading and was pleased with the crispy cornmeal and the generous portion. Now for the main event. Pie! Strawn's is known for their strawberry pie and for good reason. It was the best strawberry pie that I have ever eaten. The whipped cream topping was transcendent and paired perfectly with the strawberries. My photo does not do this pie justice. My wife went with coconut pie and while it was very good the strawberry was the winner. Looking forward to returning to Straw's Eat Shop in the future.

The room was beautiful in a quiet, elegant way, thoughtfully put together, warm and welcoming. And the people... every single waitress greeted us with kindness, but Miss Tammy -- oh, she was something special. The kind of person who makes you feel like you've known her forever. So sweet, so genuine, the kind of service you don't forget. The food came out and from the very first bite, it was clear this was a place that cooks with love. The eggs, the omelet, the French toast -- everything tasted like comfort. And then there was the millionaire bacon -- perfectly caramelized with brown sugar and just a touch of chili flakes. Sweet, smoky, with a gentle heat that teased your taste buds like heaven. Absolutely unforgettable. The portions were generous in the best way, and the prices were more than fair, especially for a breakfast that leaves you full and happy. But listen... the coffee. That coffee wrapped around you like a warm blanket. And then came the meat pies -- crispy, flavorful, absolutely unforgettable. Paired with those potatoes -- golden and crisp on the outside, soft and tender on the inside -- perfectly made, just the way they should be. The owner was there today too, sitting with friends, laughing and enjoying himself, and somehow that made the place feel even more real -- like you were stepping into a slice of everyday life, not just a restaurant. If you're looking for a true southern breakfast, a place with heart, warmth, and soul -- this is it. This is where you go when you want to feel something, not just eat. We'll be back. Without a doubt. And Miss Tammy -- thank you. You made the day brighter than you know.

As the oldest continuously operating Black owned restaurant in the United States, the café has been serving incredible Creole cuisine and preserving an important piece of American culinary history since 1921. The rich history alone is worth the visit, but the outstanding food will have you coming back again and again. The legendary stuffed shrimp absolutely lives up to its reputation. Each bite is packed with flavorful Creole stuffing, perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and incredibly satisfying. It's easy to understand why this dish has become one of Shreveport's signature foods. The red beans and rice with smoked sausage is another must-order, delivering rich, smoky flavors and comforting homemade goodness. Their gumbo is equally impressive--deep, hearty, and filled with authentic Louisiana flavor that tastes like it has been simmering for hours. And if you're craving a sandwich, the po'boy selections are loaded with delicious fillings and served on fresh bread that makes every bite memorable. The restaurant's location along Cross Lake creates a beautiful waterside atmosphere that makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, lunch or dinner, the scenic views provide the perfect backdrop for a relaxing meal. The portions are generous, making the prices more than fair for the amount of food you receive. You definitely leave feeling like you got excellent value for your money. Even better, the staff is welcoming, attentive, and genuinely helpful, making guests feel right at home from the moment they walk through the door. If you're visiting Shreveport and want authentic Creole cuisine with incredible history, outstanding service, generous portions, and unforgettable flavors, Orlandeaux's Café is an absolute must-visit.
