Had such a nice time last week. Decided after moms release from providence hospital. We would go back for breakfast. The party was seated (I had to use the restroom {do not plan on changing your baby's diaper in there}). By the time I got out I saw my sister putting the baby in a high chair and one sitting next to them. Come to find out. She had to go and find a "working" one herself. Seeing as the one the random person brought her was broken. There was no drinks, no one had even stopped by to greet them or ask if they would like any drinks. Unfortunately I saw who was our "waitress". And boy was I surprised. It was the young lady from last week. Now I usually don't tip and when I do. I don't say it. But I am aghast to our treatment today. I gave that woman a TWENTY DOLLAR ($20) tip. It takes me 3 hours to make that! I would think you would remember some who handed you a $20 bill! read more

Torrance Food Crawl #190 This Denny's branch has been here for decades. More so than some other Denny's I've seen, this one seems to have a steady clientele. As with most chain restaurants there is more similarity than differences compared to other locations so you'll pretty get what you expect from a Denny's. Today I tried the first burger listed on the menu, the Honey Jalapeño Bacon Sriracha Burger, a collection of currently popular options. It came with a good sized beef patty, which was cooked regular to regular/well done, and tasted good but had lost some of its juiciness. The bacon was thick-cut and sweet tasting. There was a good amount of sliced jalapeños which were a little on the mild side. There was some sriracha sauce but not very much, the jalapeños were much more noticeable. One down side to the burger is that there was a lot of stuff, piled high, so when I tried to eat it with my hands the brioche bun started breaking up and everything started sliding off. I gave up and just used a fork and knife to eat the rest of it. Denny's used to be very conservative in their food choices and its nice to see they're willing to try some novelty items to keep customers interested. I also had the seasoned french fries. They were about as expected, a little on the dry side, but better than the regular fries. read more

Never have I ever been so disappointed and treated so poorly at a Dennys. Today is my husband's 60th birthday (no easy feat for a 2- time cancer survivor but here he is). We went to our local Dennys for his freebie b-fast and learned you have to sign up to get the b-fast. Our server let us know and walked away, refusing to take our order until we signed up (mind you, my birthday is in 2 days so I figured I'd do it and come back for me) . The reward doesn't populate timely as I learned from the manager and he refused the birthday freebie and dismissed me by saying he couldn't do anything about it and then he just went about his business. I know establishments accommodate customers all of the time and had I complained about my meal or service after the fact, they might have adjusted the bill. But here we are, refusal to honor a birthday because the staff couldn't be bothered. Mind you, I already thought our server was rude when he approached us. Maybe he was having a bad day, I don't know. This was my first visit post-covid. I would have thought my business would be welcome considering the shutdown in 2020. Denny's is still offering you breakfast on the day of your Birthday. I suppose they can do that as most people work except old timers and people like me on vacation. So early on the actual day of my Birthday(see asked for my id ad adjusted the bill only after), I drag my Mom and youngest son to Denny's for my free "Grand Slam" breakfast. We were greeted right away and seated immediately. The place was bustling with business. Our waitress, whom was pleasant, took our beverage orders while we looked over the menu. It was my Birthday , so I had to order the Grad Slam, but at Denny's, that's a build it how you like it kind of meal. When the waitress returned we all placed our orders and when it came to my boys' meal, we opted on the Silver Dollar pancakes and ordered 2 portions and bacon. I figured with all our choices he could have eggs off my plate. The food arrived quickly and while there was a bit of a mix up on my Mother's eggs, the waitress was very pleasant and whisked them away and brought the correct order. She was so fast, that we hardly even realized. The food was great for a chain location and I would return again. I will say, that we were quite amused at the Silver Dollar pancakes, they were HUGE....yes they were smaller than the regular ones, but not by much and my son gobbled them down with great enthusiasm. I know Denny's has a reputation of sorts....and I certainly would not want to work there late at night with the drunk crowd coming in, but I felt they did a good job. I noticed a large round table and thought it would make for a nice breakfast meeting and with free wifi...why not. The dining room was clean and there were lots of tables.
