I came across this place while searching for a quick spot to meet my daughter near her new job. The vibe of this restaurant is really cool and laid back. But perhaps maybe a little too laid-back for a quick work lunch. LOL. It took our waitress a while to check in on the 3 of us. My daughter had arrived first and when we got there, there was already three waters on the table, but I wanted to order a drink and we had to hustle since my daughter was on her lunch break. By the time the waitress showed back up from her initial visit with my daughter, we were all ready to order our food. Luckily it didn't take too long for the food to come. My daughter and I shared the chipotle pork tenderloin. We were torn between the tenderloin, fried chicken thighs, and blackened redfish étouffée. Unfortunately, they were out of the étouffée, so the waitress suggested that between the chicken thighs and the tenderloin, that the tenderloin would be the best choice. And it was AMAZING! I'm not much of a pork tenderloin person, but it was fantastic. Very tender. Very flavorful. My son had the toasted Cuban sandwich and he said it was very good. I also got a cocktail called the Blackberry battery and it was amazing. I almost got the old-fashioned, but decided on the blackberry battery because of the description mentioned it had muddled blackberries. Their dessert choices looked amazing particularly the Keylime dessert. Unfortunately, my daughter had to head back to work, so she wasn't able to stick around for dessert. As it turned out, that was probably for the best! I told the waitress I wanted to order the Keylime dessert and she said they didn't have it so I wasn't gonna get anything but my son insisted that we get the ice cream puff dessert. And although they ended up being fairly decent, it was the 20 minutes to get the dessert that was a problem. The waitress said twice that our dessert would be out soon but it took 20 minutes for it to finally come out. Luckily my son and I didn't have any additional plans and so we weren't in a rush, but this could be a major issue for someone who was trying to get back to work. Love the ambience of the restaurant which overlooks all the cars being stored. My friend and I also took the tour and had a fantastic time with our guide Landon. He was unbelievably knowledgeable about so many of the cars. The tour was 5 stars! We joined our wives for lunch and had burgers and fries, as well as a few beers. The fries were excellent, but the thick burger was a little burnt and as a result and had a little bitter taste because of that. All in all a really fun lunch. read more

I took my husband here for his birthday because he absolutely loves cars, and this place did not disappoint! We made a reservation to make sure he'd get the full experience regardless of the crowd, but thankfully it wasn't too busy when we arrived. We were greeted warmly at the door, and the atmosphere immediately set the tone for a great visit. As we enjoyed our meal, we took time to walk around and admire the incredible collection of cars on display. By the time we finished dining, the crowd had started rolling in, which showed us why reservations are a good idea. The staff was attentive, professional, and handled the growing crowd with ease. The food was delicious, and the cinnamon buns were the perfect ending to the meal--not overly sweet, just the right amount of indulgence. I also loved the variety of vehicles on display, from vintage classics to newer models, and even motorcycles. Being able to stroll around after eating was a nice touch and helped us soak in the experience. This is a great spot for families, a unique business lunch, or even a date day or date night. The location is a bit out of the way for us, so we'll have to be intentional about making the trip again, but it's definitely worth a visit. This place is fitting of Dallas overhyped disappointing food/places to go culture. Arrived sometime after 6p and was told it'd be an hour wait for a table. Accepted that as we'd already made an hours drive to this location. Paid for garage tour and was told it would start at 7:30p. Right around 7:30 the previous tour ended, the host continued to chat with the group that was finishing up. He then blew me and my son off, proceeded to exit the area where we were waiting and never returned. After 10 additional minutes another host showed up and said he would be the host, but that we had to wait on others trickling in at will. The whole thing felt like an unorganized money grab. If tours are offered start on time, be considerate of patrons time and PRESENCE. I requested a refund have not received that, and was told I'd get a receipt for my refund by email, haven't received that either. Eventually were called for an open table around 8p. We were seated, but no hostess ever showed up not even to bring water or say hey I'll be with you all shortly. Stayed for an additional 20 min ended up deciding to just leave. Overall experience was just bad, service bad, why wait for possibly bad food too. Trying something new in this city is risky and again is almost always disappointing. read more

Went to the Derby to celebrate a birthday and it was a really cool experience. Inside, there's a barbershop, restaurant, gift shop, and a showroom featuring everything from antique to exotic cars. The restaurant is located right on the showroom floor, so guests can dine while enjoying the view. There's also a members-only area above the restaurant where people can gather, eat, and hang out. The service was great from start to finish from the host at the entrance to the restaurant staff and the barber. I kept it simple with the food and tried the cheeseburger, buffalo wings, and shrimp Caesar salad. All were good. It's a cool car & truck paradise; they have restos & collectible vehicles on display- which are also for sale. The dining area & restrooms are super sano! My out-of-town mother-in-law had sent a story about the Derby restaurant to us as something cool to do. When my in-laws came to visit in November, they flew into Love Field, and with the Derby restaurant being less than 10 minutes away from the airport, I thought it was the perfect way to kick off their visit. The cars are something to see, but they did say that tours of the garage are only on Saturdays and Sundays. They offer a nice selection of food from small bites to bigger meals. Everything we got was delicious. My mother-in-law said the Wayugu burger was incredible. And my fish and chips were very good and not overly greasy. My husband and his dad both got the brisket grilled cheese and raved about it. The staff was friendly and attentive. And the whole restaurant was immaculately clean. What a great find! A business colleague showed me this place one day when the restaurant wasn't open, and I had vowed to bring my car-loving son back as soon as possible. I knew he would love the environment, but had no idea the restaurant experience would be so great. We went on a Saturday afternoon, around 12:00. The hostess asked if we had reservations, which we did not. However, she was able to seat us within five minutes. During our time there five different wait people checked on us, refilled our drinks and generally made us feel extremely welcome. The badass bacon was delicious. A bit salty, but the syrup glaze cut the salt perfectly. The omelette was perfect and my son's chicken fried steak was huge, and he loved it. I highly recommend taking a tour of the car storage facility. It's ten dollars a person and runs every half hour, at least on Saturday. The young man giving our tour knew lots about cars in general, and then also had interesting stories about some of the vehicles stored there and their owners. 10/10 I highly recommend this place. read more

My boyfriend is a huge car guy and has been wanting to go. When you first walk in the place looks so cool! Little gift shop and bar and then you walk up to the host stand which is a tool box (love the attention to detail) just gives the whole place a fun and awesome vibe. However the service is very much lacking. We sat down and watched as other tables were searching for their waitresses before we even got talked to. We sat for maybe 10-15 min before our waitress brought us water and took our drink orders before running away. And yes literally running because neither I or my boyfriend could get the words out to say we were ready to order everything at this point. So we waited. The restaurant is really cool atmosphere wise as you look out thru a glass wall at all of these amazing cars. But you can only look at the cars for so long to where you are wondering how long it takes to bring an iced tea and a can of cider from the bar. About another 10+ minutes and she brings not only our drinks but a tray of drinks for some of our other tables saying she would be right back to take our order. So we waited again. She did come back after dropping off drinks and we ordered an appetizer and my boyfriend got the wagyu burger and I got the BLT. As we were waiting for our appetizer, we noticed all other tables were continuously looking or trying to track down their waitress. I saw one guy eventually get up and go over to the waitress stand and get his own hot sauce. And another walk up to the stand and refill their own water. I don't know how long we waited for our food at this point but our entrees came and our appetizer never did. So we asked about it and she said oh crap give me a minute and brought over our appetizer with our meal. Which is fine but that now means our food is getting cold while we eat the appetizer but not the end of the world. My boyfriend also ordered a side of mayo for his burger with his meal. It didn't come so he asked for it again when his meal was brought. Took another 10 minutes to get a side of mayo. At this point his burger was cold but he was hungry so ate it. He said the burger was cooked amazing but had no flavor or seasoning on it. The we got Matt's bad ass bacon as an appetizer and it was delicious with super thick cut bacon and I had the same thick cut bacon on my BLT. My sandwich was good. We also got fries and they were super delicious. I told my boyfriend if we come back I would get a side of fries and the bacon and call it a day lol. So then it came time to pay, I had noticed most waitresses would swipe and stand there and wait to watch you put in your tip. Maybe it's just me but that's uncomfortable to watch someone to make sure they tip you. My boyfriend told her she could leave the machine at the table which she did but that was not the norm for everyone else in the restaurant. I will say everyone was super friendly but just so slow and the lack of attention to detail was simply not good. The concept of this place is awesome, the atmosphere awesome, the food ok could be great with minor tweaks, and the service needs a major overhaul. Restaurant and garage?! Such a cool place! Very unassuming from the outside but as soon as you walk in I bet you'll say "oh wow!!". There are tons of really nice cars in the garage area and there's even a barbershop! Please note you can only do garage tours on weekends (unless you're a member), but you can still go inside the garage and stay in the viewing area which is cool too. Customer service was great and friendly and surprisingly the food was damn good! The venison corn dogs were different (in a good way lol), queso was hittin' too! For an entree, I couldn't choose, so I got the chicken ravioli AND the crispy chicken sandwich (the bf and I split this one :) ). I enjoyed the ravioli a lot, the sauce was lovely! The chicken sandwich definitely had some kick! I also tried my bf's brisket tacos - the smoke flavor was really good but the tacos were kinda greasy so not my fav. A friend recommended Derby for our anniversary dinner. Sadly the menu online was not the menu in the restaurant so we were moderately disappointed in the food options. Interestingly enough the only sides available for the entrees were either fries or Caesar salad. The appetizers were tasty but the rest of the meal was definitely middle of the road.
