I love the Merza Bros! I recently moved to the bay area and was sad to leave all my favorite salons back home. Lucky for me the Merza Bros have made their way to the south bay a few times a week!!!! Designers Day Spa & Salon is conveniently located in Campbell Plaza. There is plenty of parking and Lookout Coffee right up the road, perfect location. The salon itself is very spacious, clean, and open on Sundays. I book everything through William specifically, so I can't speak on making appointments through the salon or anything but I was happy to see they have a receptionist there to greet me and let me know any updates that were happening. My sister booked William for her wedding in 2020 and the attention to detail, the artwork, the level of craft and care, I knew that he would only do the same for haircuts, so I've been going to him ever since. He was the first stylist to cut about 8 or 9 inches off of my hair and I absolutely fell in love. Although, he recommends a trim every 3-6 months, I have haircut anxiety lol so I end up going about twice a year and I love it every time. Most people who know me know I mostly do my own hair. The last few days, I went through a bit of a hair struggle. I tried a new conditioner ( Shea Moisture Amla Oil Bond repair conditioner), which dreaded my hair in three spots. It was so bad that I spent hours trying to get it out. I resulted in having to just cut it out(I was super upset) . I made an appointment with Knappy by Nature by Rhoni. I haven't had my hair done since a little bit before covid. Last month, my appointment for 2 facials (for myself and my friend) was cancelled due to building maintenance so I rescheduled for today. We showed up today and no one was there. There was no receptionist, so nobody could give us any info. I tried calling the phone number and left a voice mail. We waited an additional 15 minutes but nobody showed up or called back. I have been here many times for a massage, it's the best, but I went for a body scrub and Vichy shower. It was incredibly relaxing and my skin was so soft afterwards. I really wanted to love Designer's LTD. It's close, the location is great, and the interior is beautiful. Unfortunately, the haircut I received is extremely disappointing. I explained that I wanted to create a look with bangs that covered my forehead to hide a skin condition that has been developing. The stylist cut my hair with long side-swept bangs with zero forehead coverage - when I mentioned this she then chopped of the side swept to a really short bang on one side that not only provides no coverage...it puts MORE of an emphasis on the forehead. To top that off - the bangs are uneven and poorly cut. I feel worse about my appearance leaving than when I went in. I really just wanted to leave, but to make matters worse the stylist told the receptionist I was disappointed. The stylist kept trying to explain "Well I cut this side-swept and then you said you wanted short" making an excuse for not even coming close to what i asked for. I feel like a more appropriate thing to say would have been to just leave it at "I'm sorry you are not happy with the haircut" - instead she dismissing my feelings trying to explain away that she didn't follow my request or the pictures. I empathize that it must be a hard thing to have a client that is disappointed...but I really just wanted to quietly pay and leave...not rehash what happened over and over. That feeling of awkwardness was compounded when the receptionist kept apologizing and saying "But you are going to come back right?!?". I was trying to be polite and pay and leave - but the repeated rehashing at the question from the receptionist got me really close to tears. I really appreciate the discount and the fact that the staff was trying, in their own way, to make me feel better...but it made an awkward situation worse. I'm not sure what to do about my bangs, but I like them even less three days later. Again, I really wanted to love this place - but an awkward experience and a disappointing haircut ensured I will not be back. read more

Went with a friend and asked if there was walk ins for hair cut. They said yes and I'd be taken in 10 to 15. So we decided to wait. My friend get called in 20mins. So I decided to continue waiting. Forward another 45 mins, my friend is done but I have yet to be called in. So I said forget it. Plus majority of the time my friend was getting her hair blow dried for 30 mins. I am coming out of Yelp retirement to write this review because of my experience with Designers Ltd. The staff here clearly have no idea how to book appointments. I was told that I could come in today at 1:15 PM and so I stopped looking for other salons. I get a call less than an hour before my appointment informing me that the earliest that they have is 2:00 PM. Then I get two more calls later asking me about how many extensions I want and details about my hair. Why this could not be included in the initial phone call is beyond me. What REALLY got me is that I end up getting a THIRD call saying that they cannot see me at all. They didn't ask me about the extensions that I wanted and now they cannot do the install. They said something about NOT BEING CERTIFIED TO DO HAIR EXTENSIONS. Do not come here. Do not waste your time booking appointments that they will cancel. Do not deal with passive aggressive receptionists who clearly do not know how to do their jobs. Find somewhere else. read more

Let me first tell you that it was a BIG mistake that I did not check out this place Designer LTD in Campbell on YELP for reviews before going in because I relied on a personal friend's reference. I had my eye lashes extension done in Paris in May 2013 and I needed a refill after 6 weeks. I had my very first wonderful experience done by a professional beautician who used anti-hyper-allergenic glue on my lashes! I asked Jenny Dinh what kind of glue she will use and she would not disclose to me. That was a red flag right there! Then I explained to her that I need a thin, natural lash and that mine were individually done and glued with a special glue. She then went on to tape my eyes shut with scotch tape and started working on them. In the middle of the process, I could sense something did not go well as the glue started stinging my eyes. After 1 hours and a half, she removed the tape and I opened my eyes, it was at first not very comfortable since the glue was still on. She had to put eyedrops into both of my eyes (again without asking my permission since I was wearing contact lenses)! The same day, my eye lashes started to fall off one by one. The glue did not sit well and made my eyes itchy since she over-glued the lashes onto the lids of the eyes. I then immediately texted her with both of my eyes pictures and said that not only they looked horrible, but they made me itchy. I said that I would like to make an apt. to have them removed! She said that she would let me know. By the 3rd day there was no reply, therefore, I reminded her that I needed these lashes to be removed. She did not ONLY apologized but said that because my lashes were "weak" and could not hold up the glue! This is incorrect since I have mine done in Paris, France and there was NO problem for 6 weeks! It was not worth it to get a Groupon deal for $69 + tip $15.00 = $85.00 to have been suffered and gone through what I went through! So be ware of this place "Designers LTD" in Campbell! From the outside, the place looks modern, nice, and very BIG! However, it seems that the beauticians just rent or lease the place and everyone runs their own businesses as they see fit! I have been getting my haircut here for years, and some massages when I have some spare moolah (or a neck i cant move, haha). The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Julie Dawson she does an awesome job cutting and coloring my hair, shes very personable, and if you have a nutty idea for your hair she will definitely tell you if its for you or not! :) Also Mara Wright is the best massage therapist I've ever had. She always does a consult before your massage to find out if you've been having any trouble spots or anything of the sort. She's also awesome at finding knots I didn't even know I had in my back (that at the time hadn't realized were actually causing some of my headaches). I have been going to Shannan since 2006 @ Salon Soulé (closed) and she's always been very accommodating with appointments, etc. I set my appointments directly with her to avoid confusion with the front desk since I am a last minute haircut planning kind of girl. I have been here for a hair cut, eyebrow wax and manicure and loved all three! I especially loved the 'flavored' manicure I got with Sarah today. February's flavor is 'chocolate covered strawberry,' and it was amazing! She used a strawberry flavored mini bath fizz in hot water for me to soak my fingers in, and rubbed my hands with an exfoliating chocolate scrub. It smelled amazing and was super relaxing! Definitely one of the best manicures I have gotten, it was soothing and it looks amazing. The staff is super friendly and talkative, which is really important for me. I have been at places that make it feel like a chore to get my nails done or hair cut, because you just sit there not talking. Here, the staff is easy to relate to and makes an effort to strike up a conversation. It may be a tad more expensive than other places, but the quality of the services is very high, and you can't beat it in terms of customer satisfaction. A+ read more

Other people cut it in the way that it would always stick out, but Sue knows how to make it look settled. I know that they really deserve 5 stars and it could be my fault but my end result did not come out what I was hoping for but that could also possibly be MY fault... I'm in denial! With my job being on the Peninsula but living in the South Bay, with work hours and commute time, I'm generally working past the hours of most salons. I set up the appt for 630 (okay, so I snuck out of work to even make that time) and was set up with an older lady. Now, I don't want to throw her under the bus so I will not provide her name but she was just... not that into me? I told her my low down; I need my golden locks back asap! She basically did not listen; she made snide comments under her breath but said certain remarks with a smile and I wasn't sure how to take that. "I'm doing the salon a favor for being here, you know", "I have 12 years experience with Vidal Sasson", "You don't know how lucky you are to have me"... Seriously? Another client of hers was there getting her hair done (the way I wanted, by the by) and she was quite devoted to her. Me, I'm a nobody! Whoa is me! When all was uncovered, I had....... RED RONALD MCDONALD HAIR! I kid you not! She says to me "Come back in 6 weeks and we can make it lighter and eventually get to blond." What? I had to get out of there. The next morning at 8am I called to complain not sure of what I wanted to do. The lady was so sweet and kind and very patient with me; she stated the manager would call me later to set up a new appt. And she did! Isabella (?) was generous and understood my frustrations. That's a great sign of management! She set me up with Shannan. A wondrous stylist who came from the heavens of hairdom and became my gift from God. She saw the damage, she assessed the situation and decided to move forward into lightening this disaster so kids would no longer ask me for a Big Mac. What was really lovely about Shannan is that she listened. Huge thing when it comes to hair; please listen to what I want! What makes her the real deal is that I never had a haircut before; just trims and fixing my fried parts. I told her my issue with pathetically round face that makes me look like a bobble head with my skinny body and she cut and shaped my hair to have my face appear slimmer and evened length. BEST.HAIRCUT.EVER. OK so one con: My hair is not the blond I wanted; I should have stated that I generally have platinum blond highlights and she ended up toning my wannabe broading color down. I'm trying to be okay with not having the stunning bright streaks since it's now an all over color of ash blond; let's see how long I last! So I kind of have to blame myself for this. Because of that she had to double process my hair to remove some of the color and it's still too dark!!! I seriously look goth-wtf???? 3. She was rude and YELLED at me-she kept trying to say it was my fault and I was wrong-wtf???? I know what my hair color is and if you knew how to do your job, you wouldn't be wasting hours of our time-WTF????????? 4.AT THE END-she told me there would be an extra charge for color because I have alot of hair- DISHONEST MUCH?? I have been going to Designer's Limited for (yikes!) decades. When I was a teenager and college student, I would run to Designer's Ltd. for emergency corrective color to fix whatever mess I had made at home. They always had a skilled colorist at the ready who could help me out at a moment's notice. My curly, fine hair is easy to screw up and every time I have tried to have it cut somewhere else, it was a disaster. Designer's Ltd. has always had at least one curly-hair expert who could take care of me. I saw Tehmina for years and then Julie Dawson for the last 10+ years. Julie Dawson is fantastic with textured hair for both cuts and color. She has many devoted clients, so I have to schedule with her well in advance; but even with her packed schedule, she has generously accommodated the occasional hair emergency. Designers Ltd. is also good for results-oriented skincare. I have used them intermittently through the years and I appreciate their winning combination of comfortable treatment rooms, skilled estheticians, and reasonable prices. read more

My review is for one of the service providers: Jenny Dinh, who used to own her own beauty salon in Los Gatos, CA and now rents a "closet"-like room from Designers Ltd. I bought a $68 coupon through Amazon.com for eyelash extensions. She put them on and then charged me an additional $25 for the service claiming that Amazon takes a percentage off her profits. I didn't like the poor quality of the extensions and the amount of very hard glue on my eyelids, so I asked her to remove them after two days, which she did. She offered to give me a facial instead, but wanted to charge me an additional $32 for the facial with products that are unknown to me. It seems this lady is not trustworthy, a bit of a con artist...I would not recommend her services...it appears she wants to get more money out of the customer than is stated in her initial offers. read more

I really enjoyed my experience. The facilities are clean, the receptionist is friendly (and will help with tip suggestions if you are math challenged), there is a lot of parking and it is easy to find (at the far end of the shopping center with Safeway). My esthetician was Isabel. She has a really nice manner and my skin is looking better and better. I purchased one product that was recommended and it is cleaning, tightening, and making my softer as well. They don't seem to push products too much which is quite nice. I've been going to Elizabeth Gorman at Designers Ltd. for more than seven years--she's excellent with my strangely textured curly hair, and my hard-to-please teenage kids love her skills as well. At every visit, I see people of all ages, skin tones, facial shapes and hair types come in to the salon and then leave looking great and feeling happy. As far as I can tell, no matter what your styling need, there is a stylist here who will make you look great.
