We visited Grand Junction in June and stayed at Hotel Maverick. The Devil's Kitchen seemed like a great spot, and the view from the 4th floor also seemed super nice. My husband and I got a chance to eat both Brunch and Dinner at this restaurant. One thing we really liked is that this restaurant is working with culinary students from Colorado Mesa University. The menu was unique, local, and often changing based on season and ingredient availability. YUM, 5 stars for the ambience and views, 4 stars for the food, and 5 stars for the service! Doing the math, I had to round up to 5 stars. This is a new restaurant in the new hotel in Grand Junction, located on the 4th floor it has amazing views! The restaurant also has a rooftop bar, so when it's not 100 degrees, you can enjoy the great outdoors with a drink! The drinks were delicious and they have a great selection of beer and wine. I ordered the bison tamale stack, when it came out I was quite surprised by what it looked like. It's heavy on the sauce but the overall flavor was pretty good. I did love the grilled artichoke but who doesn't love artichokes doused in butter?! The whole meal was pretty good and I definitely want to try other things next time I go back. read more

Reservations were made, in advance, for a family gathering. Upon arrival we were asked to wait at the bar, not a problem...then our tables were given to another group. When we spoke with the hostess she didn't seem to care. Then we were offered outdoor seating in the cool windy weather. After going round and round with them, they blamed it on the other group of people whom had been sitting there for two hours. We eventually were seated, wait staff was good, food good. They should honor reservations or don't take them. read more

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here and we were pleasantly surprised! The service was attentive but not intrusive. The medley of flavors in each dish had great depth. We paired a bottle of celebratory Prosecco with Jambalaya and Gnocchi and started with the beet salad. We loved everything all while enjoying the views. The ambiance is nice with great views. The service was adequate. But, the waiter asked if we were in a hurry right after we sat, I told him we had about an hour. He said they just sat two 6 tops and it would be over an hour to get food. I was the only one with a time frame so I ordered an appetizer which was delicious. The rest of the party stayed when I had to leave and received their food a little over an hour after ordering. If 12 customers cripples your ability to serve lunch you need to replace your entire management. read more

We went thinking we had a patio reservation, but the reservation was for the next evening. There was a private party on the patio, so it was closed. They were able to seat us at a small corner table overlooking the patio, however. I was disappointed, but we felt it was our mistake. This was the bar area, so they were high-top tables, and I mean really high and small. There was a limited dinner menu due to the party. I chose the Caesar Salad and asked if I could get salmon on it instead of chicken, which was the add-on offered, for an upcharge. I figured that for a high-end restaurant like this, it would not be a problem as they had salmon on the limited menu already. Nope, the salad came with chicken. AMAZING. My husband and I stayed at Hotel Maverick and decided to come here for dinner since it was our last night in town. Devil's Kitchen is located on the 4th floor of Hotel Maverick. To make a reservation, you can either call the restaurant or use the app- OpenTable. Although we didn't make a reservation last night, we came in before the dinner rush and were able to be seated promptly by the nice hostess. The restaurant is nice and upscale. It has a bar with a tv, indoor seating with lots of large windows, and an outdoor patio. What blew us away was the delicious food! All the ingredients they used were high quality and top notch. We were pleasantly surprised with the deviled kitchen eggs we ordered as an appetizer. It was extremely tasty and had a different twist to the typical deviled eggs because it was lightly fried and had so much flavor. For our main course, I ordered the pan seared salmon with rice and grilled zucchini and my husband ordered the western slope jambalaya with shrimp as an add on. We both equally enjoyed our meal. My husband really liked the venison sausage that came with the jambalaya. We wish we were able to try something off their dessert menu but we were stuffed! One thing I also need to mention is the outstanding service!! Everyone from the hostess, our waitress, busser, and manager were all very friendly and personable. Our waitress checked on us frequently to make sure we were ok. What a great way to spend our last night in Grand Junction by having dinner at Devil's Kitchen. Food Poisoning! This place looks like it's trying hard to capture the upscale end of dining, and the decor of this top floor rooftop venue certainly is lovely. Don't be fooled. Service was slow and inattentive for a relatively slow night (May 1, 2025). We declined cocktails and wine with our meal, and we were repeatedly asked if we wanted to change our minds, but nobody bothered to come back to refill our water glasses. The fried deviled egg appetizer was an interesting concept, but totally not worth the raging case of food poisoning they likely gave us. Or, it might have been the undercooked Bison steak, which we asked for cooked medium but was served very rare. Either way, it all seemed like the meal was overpriced for what was served and how, but nothing can replace the 36 hours of significant gastrointestinal injury my husband and I experienced as a result of this meal. I called the restaurant the next day to report our illness, and left a message with my name and number, but nobody ever called back to follow up or check on us. Absolutely inexcusable way to run a restaurant. The very least you should expect from a restaurant is to serve you safe food. At these premium prices, they should at least fake a concern for their customers. read more

Let's start with the positives: we reserved one of the gondolas and the ambiance was great. Our server was amazing and any star is directly for her! Food wise our corn bread appetizer was delicious. The rest of the food however was just horribly awful! Not just 1 meal but all of them. Steaks ordered medium rare and came well done to the point that some areas were actually burnt. We also ordered the special which was a tiny piece of boneless pork chop that was raw in the middle. Apparently the kitchen was out of some sides but instead of them informing our server to ask for alternatives, kitchen decided everyone was getting overcooked mushy carrots. When the server realized she was so embarrassed and immediately brought us some other sides which was cilantro rice that was not tasty at all. As an add on to our steaks we ordered lobster and shrimp which was never brought out to our table. After waiting over hour for our food we were not interested in attempting a second round of anything. This was a special occasion and very disappointing. I will say again our server was amazing and the manager took care of our entire meal including drinks because of the above. Service A+ but not worth it if you actually want to eat and leave with a full belly. read more

The view was a better view of the town, than what I saw driving around I assume most of the employees are students at the college, our server was great. Devil's Kitchen is smokin' hot! It sits atop the Maverick Hotel and has beautiful views of the CMU campus as the walls are glass floor to ceiling. There is also an outdoor dining terrace to take in the views. In cooler weather they put up bubbles for private heated dining that doesn't interfere with the view. There is also a one ski gondola for a party of two. I will have to go back and try the outdoor dining. Book ahead! The staff is very personable and welcoming. They seems to truly enjoy their job and want you to have a great experience. The food is fantastic! They greet you at your table with a bite of something special. We started with the deviled eggs and grilled artichoke. The eggs are flash fried, which gives them a crunch. They were fabulous as was the artichoke. I had the vegan gnocchi with tomatoes and pesto and my husband had the ribeye with the special sauce of the day. We were both very pleased with our meals but too full to try dessert. I highly recommend Devils kitchen. You won't be disappointed. Try the Lavender Gin cocktail! read more

Went here for drinks only. Service was extremely slow. It took over 45 minutes to receive two drinks (an old fashion and whiskey neat). Was offered some bread while we waited but wasn't told it would cost $10. It should be free given the wait for a drink. So $78 and 2 hours later (two drinks and bread service), we finally left. View was nice. Server was nice as though she couldn't help the slow service. Service was extremely slow and drinks were no different than anywhere else. As we left we saw the bartender who was just standing behind the bar doing nothing. We are staying at the hotel but will not go back to the restaurant/bar. Update - decided to give it another try tonight. Completely different experience. Different server. Same amount of people here so do not understand the difference. Still expensive but the service was a lot better which made for a much more relaxing evening. read more

The setting is beautiful overlooking the mountains (& local college campus). Service was attentive but not overwhelming. The food (salmon and chicken) were well prepared and tasty. So I decided to come here for dinner again, I've been here before while in town, and got here early and had the deviled eggs and they were outstanding, and then I got the trout with brussels sprouts and a potato medley, and it was amazing as well. We stopped by here when driving through Grand Junction and were so glad that we found this place! The food was delicious and the service was great. We both got burgers and it was so satisfying and tasty. Being someone who really enjoys burgers and eats them quite often, I find that this one (Devil's burger) really hit the spot. It's a bit on the pricey side for a super casual lunch, but for something a bit more upscale (and the menu, ambiance, service, quality all speak to this) this place was so good. The views are so nice when you sit outside, but the big windows inside also make for a nice view when dining indoors. It's the type of place I would want to take friends/family from out of town to for a nice meal. read more

Grand Junction is one of the tougher places to find a great meal. Found this spot and was very impressed. Went with the shrimp and bison wraps per recommendation of the team. They were amazing. Devil's kitchen is a restaurant located at Hotel Maverick and is definitely a place worth checking out. The food was beautifully prepared and the restaurants interior is very pleasant. The food tastes just as good as it looks, and the service is just as good. The only complaint I have about this place is that when I asked the waitress for a vegetarian appetizer she recommended the Deviled Kitchen Eggs, but unfortunately there was bacon on them.
