Well, this might be my last review of DeVinci's. So sad to hear it's closing on August 10. But, we just had the most amazing dinner we've ever had here and we've been going for over 10 years! I will say I was quite disappointed in the Homewood/ Mountain Brook/ Vestavia Hills entitled group coming in upset that they couldn't immediately sit down and eat because the restaurant was in between change over from lunch to dinner. People just got rude. It was unacceptable and I told some of them that. Very sad to see people act that way, The ladies team that was working today we're doing everything that they could to keep everybody happy, but you know, some people just shouldn't go out in public! Seafood lasagna absolutely amazing as was the always favorite bruschetta. Will try to get back over there one more time before the 10th but gonna hate to see this one go. Such a cute restaurant in the Homewood neighborhood. Sheerly went to see what the vibe was all about. The food was amazing-- I had the Italian rope pasta and will be eating meals off of one plate for a couple of days. Service was wonderful. We had an adorable server whose first day was today. He did a great job serving us, checking in and bringing out our order. I didn't get his name, but he was being trained well! My go to place for picking up a yummy pizza is DeVinci's. Always good but I gotta say the last few times the pizza has been over the top delicious!!! Perfect crisp and flavor!!!! Not sure what's changed, maybe new pizza ovens or chef but whatever it is, it's fantastic!!! My favorite is a 12 inch Mona Lisa with pineapple and jalapeños added. read more

Stromboli Steak Sandwich usually yummy with meat, gravy. etc. Tonight my Stromboli had no hint of meat at all. it was nothing but cheese and mushrooms. Perhaps a name change would be in order. The server never asked, is everything satisfactory, can I get you anything, another beer perhaps. She slapped down the check and disappeared. the room wasn't near full and there were three wait staff in the one room. We wanted to support the "old" restaurant as they are surrounded by all new. I had a calzone. It was delicious. I got it to go, but they didn't give me enough marinara sauce. The sauce is excellent by the way! As others have said here, the service is a bit slow, but the restaurant was full because the food is simply delicious! This is a local hang out and they have been in business for a while!! They had a decent selection of beers. (Not just Budweiser). Also, I saw different wines at the bar. There are three rooms for seating, and one room has padded seating on the wall. It was very clean! My wife and I tried DeVinci's for the first time, yesterday. We picked it up. Our order was Chicken Parm and Lasagna. The chicken Parm as a little dry and the noodles needed more gravey. Still it was good. The Lasagna was the show stopper. It was excellent. Both came with bread which did not travel well be was nice to have. When I picked up the food, the staff was extremely nice and helpful. The investment was more than fair. I will try the pizza there next time. You might ask, why would I rate them as a 5-Star. If this was a high-end expensive place, I would not. This is a very affordable restaurant that is an easy drive from my home downtown. This local Italian restaurant really hits the spot and carb cravings. I love exploring more local options for different pizzas and pastas rather than large chains. And DeVinci's never disappoints. We ordered delivery through UberEats to be COVID friendly and their packaging is perfect! Everything comes super hot, which is similar to their in house service I've had before the pandemic (their baked ziti quite literally comes straight out of the oven). For their prices, their portions are HUGE. And each pasta comes with a half loaf of garlic bread. The only reason I am giving it four stars is because the baked ziti was a little watery at the bottom and the fettuccine alfredo's cheese got overwhelming after a while. I wanted so badly to like this place. I tried to convince myself that I enjoyed my meal, but unfortunately that was not the case. The fried stuffed olives sounded good in theory, but in application... They were soggy, mushy, and beyond bland. No seasoning at all and the olives basically disappeared in the batter. Do yourself a favor and skip this appetizer. The fettuccine alfredo with mushrooms was little better than the olives. It was also plain and had no flavor. I am a old Divinci customer from 30 years ago. I ordered a large Mona Lisa pizza, in early June while visiting Birmingham. I noticed the meat filling was less and the price had gone up alot for the quality of the pizza. I contacted the resturant and told them about my last experience with the last order, earlier that month. I was told they would let the right indiviaual know. I was back in Birmingham on June 29th and I tried the Mona Lisa again to see if it was a mishap. Well, the second time order was worst, than the first order. I ordered a Mona Lisa, however, we received a large cheese pizza for $35, and we paid for the pizza twice online and in person. No more Divinci's for me. My 3rd visit and definitely the last. Since when do dishes on the table take precedence over someone sitting in your establishment waiting to be served. Not busy. No line out the door taking orders. No phones ringing off the hook. Also witnessed the poorest attitude towards a doordash customer in order to prove a point. Shouldve known to turn around when the welcome was less than customer friendly. This is an incredible hidden gem in Birmingham. I have had a lot of pasta and pizza in my days, and this is easily among the top. Food: the Rondelle (spinach, walnuts, and cheese) in pasta pinwheels was absolutely phenomenal and a party in the mouth. I loved every bite and not to mention I only ate half, so I get leftovers as well for just $15. I got the chance to try a piece of buffalo chicken pizza and it was just as good. Visit DeVinci's last night , my first time having them and overall I was satisfied with my experience. I had the Soprano pizza which put you in the mind of a Meats and for a starter I had Cheese strips. The food was delicious and very filling. My waitress was very nice and even recommended items on the menu since it was my first time eating there. The place is quite small and seems crowded but it may be due to the size of the building but as far as Covid precautions and sustainability the establishment was cleaned and provide plastic utensils and straw if needed. Overall I would definitely be back to try more items on the menu. read more

DeVinci's has been in Homewood forever and the food is usually pretty good. Today, I realized it's just not worth the trouble because the service and attitude of the staff are genuinely terrible. A young lady brought us our drinks quickly and kept checking on us but said she couldn't take our order and that the waiter would be right out. From the time we were seated until the waiter showed up was 40 minutes. Were they crowded? Nope. He asked if we were ready to order and I flatly said we were ready to order when we got there which clearly didn't sit well. He can show all the attitude he likes but 40 minutes waiting for a waiter in a restaurant with hardly anyone in it is ridiculous. Seeing the problem we were having, another table walked inside to place their order. It then took about 15 minutes to get two baked ziti. The drinks never got refilled and the bread that the waiter promised would be right out never showed up. One guy who I presume is the owner seems to want to do everything at his own casual pace and seems to take delight in pissing folks off and making them sit as long as possible. That's great if you want to spend 90 minutes at a weekday lunch but that's not realistic for most lunchtime diners. I've gone to DeVinci's off and on for probably 20 years but no more. I'd honestly rather go to Olive Garden than deal with the service issues at this place. read more

The man behind the register (owner?) and a younger version of him in the kitchen were no wearing masks. I made and paid for my order and then was treated awfully by employees and ownership. I asked for a way to contact the manager or owner and the cashier who had been rude wouldn't give me either. Another employee did. Owner acted as if he would handle it but all he did was come in and believe his employees lies without speaking to me and fully hearing my side of the story. I drove past this restaurant multiple times but finally tried it one afternoon. It was packed, but we got seated and ordered. Since it was so busy with the large parties and to-go orders, the food came out slowly but it was good! The garlic bread is so good I think I ate it all before my pasta came out lol but the pasta was so well made, definitely mom and pop vibes. The service was great- everyone is so friendly !
