Not only was the cleaning $260 (two other companies would do it for $125) but the estimator claimed we needed to rebuild the entire thing, and claimed that water was leaking into our heating system in the crawl space. This was odd because I just had the heating system serviced and nobody said anything. Called back the heating guy who did an immediate inspection. He fools me things were great and no problems. Not even condensation. I then went to two other repair companies for the chimney. Both of them laughed at what Portland Chimney said needed to be done, and quoted me about $2500 in repairs and claimed it was not urgent, vrs an immediate need to rebuild and 12k in repairs. This is a dishonest company.

American Chimney was great not just by comparison but because they provided outstanding customer service and repairs on our 100+ year old chimney. Office management was organized and professional. All appointments happened as scheduled, were preceded with reminders, and followed-up with email check-ins or phone calls. Shawn took the time to sit down with me and explain all of my options. I had a lot of questions, and he answered them all. My family was committed to restoring our wood-burning fireplace, which had begun to crumble (pieces of brick and mortar were literally falling down the chimney). The chimney was also not properly drawing smoke. Shawn provided a thorough inspection and explained that our chimney failed inspection on multiple points. Necessary repairs would be costly, and he recommended a gas insert, which would be half the price of the repairs. Ultimately, we decided to pursue the wood-burning restoration, and Shawn helped us find the most affordable options. Though we were quick to add on a few accessories, including a fan (for increased smoke draw) and a smoke guard, he advised us to wait to see if these would be necessary. (There was no pressure to purchase unnecessary items). After letting the repairs cure for over a month, we built our first fire a few days ago and were thrilled to see the smoke draw up the chimney. The work looks great, and with the masonry restoration, the chimney emits more heat than before. We don't need to add the fan or the smoke guard, so we are grateful for Shawn advising us to wait.

We were made aware that our…read morechimney was in rough shape through a home inspection and most of the chimney companies that came out wanted to knock the entire thing down and build a new one, some with partial rebuilds which would cost $$$$. You could tell most of these chimney companies just wanted to cash in. Integrity Chimney guys wanted to preserve the history and recommended a tuck point which turned out fantastic. They are experts in what they do and are trustworthy and fair. Their communication is also top notch, constantly communicating anything that comes up. They were timely, cleaned up, and the attention to detail was fantastic. We also had them install a chimney insert on the inside of the home which they helped us choose, schedule, and install. I highly recommend them, the before and after pictures speak for themselves. You can tell these guys care about what they do and it shows.

While I have enjoyed working with Revival employees, my recent experience with their owners, in…read moreconnection with a full HVAC replacement on a rental property, fell far short of expectations. The owners of this business have been dismissive, defensive, non-responsive, and not particularly service oriented. Really an unfortunate experience given the amount of money spent on this transaction. Specifically, Revival failed to deliver warranty documents that were required to be provided to me upon the completion of work, as specifically noted in the statement of work. Even though warranty documents were not provided, Revival's owners demanded immediate payment in full. Revival also failed to advise ahead of time about County inspections that needed to be completed after installation. This easily could have been communicated to me up-front but was not, and led to a lot of last-minute scrambling with my tenants when inspectors showed up without notice, or notified us of follow-up visits. Note to Revival owners: Going forward, please treat your paying customers with more respect, anticipate their needs, and don't send long-winded defensive treatises when customers reasonably object to the way they're being treated. These are fairly easy-to-implement service changes and would really improve your service model.
