Our first experience with Daphne was back in 2022. I had just graduated from nursing school, and wanted a themed cake for my party. We yelped and researched and came across DH cake studio, it was a plus that she is also a food network cake off champ! We ordered a smaller cake, white cake, with mango mousse. Ever since then we've been hooked. Second time was in 2024 for our sons first birthday. A boombox themed cake, black cake with cookies and creme. Most recently for our son's 2nd birthday, Jollibee themed, back to white cake with mango mousse per our son's request. I cannot stress how easy communication and the design process is. What I love is that Daphne is very communicative, if not through email, through texts. Her cakes are ALWAYS a hit in any age group. Their execution is flawless, and the cakes always taste amazing. To our Asian tongue "not too sweet!" She's a cake off CHAMPION for a reason.

Best custom bakery in town if not the entire Bay Area! I live in Oakland and get my custom cakes here - that's how good it is. Gorgeous cakes and delicious too - we're talking gourmet quality. I ordered the white cake with strawberry filling for my son's first birthday party and ordered the same design as my first son's birthday cake because that's how much I loved it (animal safari). It's a stunning addition to your party - pictures don't do justice to the level of detail Daphne applies to her works of art / cakes. Guests are still talking about the design and the taste - light, delicious, and just the right amount of sweet. This isn't your typical sugar saturated cake that makes you nauseous afterwards. You will not regret your decision, this cake is worth every penny. Just contact her well in advance because she books up fast!!!

I was extremely disappointed with this cake. It was dry, tasted old, and the jam wasn't fresh at all. The decoration was sloppy--you could see folds and holes in the design, and it looked nothing like what I had asked for. What made it worse was being told last-minute (on the same day!) that there would be "slight changes," but the final result looked awful. I expected something beautiful for my 35th birthday cake, based on the promises made, but unfortunately, you did not deliver. I would never order a cake from your shop again, and highly recommend others to stay away. If you want something nice, move on to the next cake maker. After speaking to Daphne she did give me half my money back but I had no dessert for my special day and guests!

Daphne and team did such an amazing job on the custom cake I ordered for my friend's "dumpling themed" baby shower. I was desperately trying to find a bakery who could take a custom order on short notice when my other shop fell through, and Daphne responded so quickly! They were able to turn around the order with only 5 days of notice and totally saved me. The cake got SO many compliments on the day of and was legitimately delicious. Not too sweet, moist (but not wet), with a generous serving of cream and fruit inside. I had leftovers a few days later - still delicious! The team even provided instructions on how to properly cut and serve. Thanks DH!!! Would highly recommend.

My 5 year old daughter picked an inspiration photo of a cake she wanted that was honestly disappointing to me but I didn't want to say no to her so I told her I will send the photo to the cake maker and she will put her creative twist on it. I asked DH Cake to make an elevated version of the cake picture we sent her and she fully delivered. I was blown away when I went to pick it up and my daughter and husband could not stop gushing over the cake when I brought it home. Of course all the guests could not speak enough praise about the beauty and the taste of the delicious cake. DH Cake did an impressive job packaging the cake as well. I had to transport the cake first to my house, then to the party venue and it traveled really well. We will definitely order more cakes for future events. Thank you very much!

I gave Daphne a picture of a pickle cake I liked for a pickled themed birthday for my son and asked for something similar. Daphne said "no problem, we'll make it even better," and did she ever! Cake looked AMAZING! We loved it. My favorite part was the detail that went into the "ends" of the pickle. Such great quality! The taste...perfection as well! Not too sweet, great cookies and cream mousse. We were so happy with the result! It was eaten completely! Fondant wasn't too thick. Layered beautifully (not enough time to take pics of that. Oops) SHE EVEN DID "PICKLE JUICE" spillage with sugar. Amazing. Can't recommend Daphne enough. This was our first custom cake ever and we will definitely be reaching out to Daphne in the future.

I started yelping cake places in San Jose and found DH Cake Studio. I was not disappointed! I reached out to Daphne for my baby first birthday cake and the theme ( fav books) and what she made for us was beyond I could have imagined for my theme for baby bday!!! Daphne is simply amazing! This was my first time ordering from her and it was a pleasant experience. I needed a cake for my husband's 30th birthday and I wanted it to be perfect because he also got hired in a new position at work. Daphne made my vision come to life! She was very responsive and accommodating. I actually ended up getting Covid and had to postpone the birthday party. She was very understanding and did not hold that against me. The party was postponed a week and turned out others who were going to attend got Covid the following week so I wanted to cancel the cake. I understand the bakery has its own refund protocols so I wasn't going to get a full refund at that point. However, she was willing to postpone the cake for a future event. I ended up just getting a smaller cake instead and got the difference back. The cake came out spectacular! Usually cakes that look good don't always taste good in my opinion, but this cake tasted just as wonderful as it looked! My husband was ecstatic when he saw it. This was definitely worth the price. Daphne is a true artist! Will definitely order again in the future. read more

Daphne made a Sesame Street themed cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday last weekend. The cake was simply amazing and was the center of attention of the party. So many ooohs and aaahs. It was so gorgeous we all had a hard time making ourselves cut it. Daphne was able to recreate the cake exactly as the picture I had showed her. The details were intricate. The cake looked amazing and it tasted amazing as well. Not a very common combination. The fondant was like candy and the kids had a fun time eating away on the decor after cake cutting. Also, if there was a possibility to give 100*, I would give that to Daphne for her warmth and excellent customer service. She is very responsive and makes sure she meets your needs and specs. She walked me out with the cake in her hand, had me buckled and then transferred the cake into my lap. You will not find this level of customer service anywhere. She even said hello to the celebrant. I can't recommend Daphne enough. She is the real deal. If you want the best service, the most gorgeous looking cake and tasty too, DH Cake Studio is the place. Thank you Daphne. read more

I stumbled upon DH Cake Studio recently while searching for custom cakes for my daughter's birthday in November. After checking out the website, Instagram photos, and Yelp photos I decided to order my husband's birthday cake from Daphne. I could not have made a better choice. She did an excellent job with my husband's cake and to top it off, the cake was delicious! He chose the vanilla cake with peach mousse. It was moist, dense, and the peach mousse was not overpowering (coming from someone who does not like peach). The cake wasn't too sweet as most cakes tend to be. The price for what we got (size, taste, and look) was very reasonable. I am looking forward to ordering my daughter's birthday cake from DH Cakes and would not hesitate to recommend people from doing the same. Coming from someone who's used multiple local shops to order numerous custom cakes, I will definitely stick with ordering from DH Cake Studio. read more

I gave DH Cake studio a photo of my fiancé and I dressed in traditional hanboks posing in front of a temple in S. Korea and they did a perfect job recreating it for our elopement! I reside in Honolulu, Hawaii, but went to visit my son and celebrate his birthday in San Jose. Before I went, I searched online to look for a bakery that can make special birthday cakes, I then found DH Cake Studio, I take a look at the cake designs they posted, they are just so beautiful and adorable, so I contacted Daphne, checked her availability, and emailed her the cake design that I wanted. I was lucky that she is available on the day I need the cake, and she is willing to make the design I requested. On the day we pick up the cake, I was amazed by the talent of Daphne, the cake is way more adorable than I have expected. The cake not only adorable, but tasted so yummy, the cake is soft, moist, the sugar paste is sweet but not overly sweet which you cannot stand. My son was really happy with this cute design which is one of the characters in the game he plays, and the yummy taste of the cake. Here I want to say "thank you so much" to Daphne, I really hope that she will be available when I need a cake again in San Jose (I do wish she has studio in Hawaii). read more

I really like this cake studio. About my daughter's 4 years old birthday party. I asked Daphne to make a big Korean cream flower cake and 2 dozen same style cupcakes. As a illustrator I know I am so picky for the color. I did research and showed to Daphne. She is really warm and nice. She answered all the questions and also show me a lots of photos to tell me what she can do. She also did a lot of researches too. And she give me some of suggestions about the color match with my theme. She used one whole night to make the cake for my daughter's party. And showed me pics before the party. Her deliveries cakes by herself and told me all the details I need to know. Cakes are gorgeous! The flavors are really good too! We don't like too sweet, her cake is Asian flavor.
