I love soup! Therefore I love this place. Even better that it's very close to work. I think they have the best vegetarian soup. They have all kinds of veggies in it. They also have other soups and panini's. They are all very good too but I'm stuck on the veggie soup. They have a frequent buyer's card where your 10th soup is free. Instead of having you hold on to your card, they have a card holder by the window for you to store it. This is great because with all the cards I have to carry, I'll probably lose it or not waste time to look for it. Everyone is super nice and sassy and the service is super quick every time. The only thing is that you have to walk up to the window to order your food, and when it's freezing and windy... you'll experience all that in full force being out side. Oh but today, my coworker tried the corn chowder and it wasn't as thick as we thought it would be... it was watered down. Still good, but not the best. read more

A great addition to the Georgetown neighborhood and just a couple blocks from my work. This little stand has a daily soup from Split Pea with Ham to Smoked Salmon Chowder. They serve Country Vegetable everyday for the veggie folks too. However, the most delicious soup is the Georgetown Beer Broccoli/Cheddar Bacon. OMG. Amazing. However, I don't know how you could go wrong with those ingredients. For $5 (includes tax) you get about 2 cups of soup, a roll, pat of butter, and a nice container to bring back to your work. They are also starting to serve other items like BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and chicken salad wraps ($7 but includes macaroni salad and cookie). They post the soup schedule on the website. Also, I think the profits go to local charities and the leftover soup goes to shelters. So while you are getting fat on beer cheesy soup you know it's all for a good cause. read more

Went here for a random lunch stop and at first it didnt look like much. when we walked up we were greeted by the friendliest employee Martin. We asked what he would recommend and he was totally honest and asked whether we were starving or just wanted a light snack. I was starving and so he recommended the Cuban Nacho sandwich and my wife wasn't so hungry so she got the caprise sandwich and goodness it was not a disappointment at all! this place looks small but looks can be deceiving and it packs a big punch of flavorful food! At the 1998 Grammy Awards Aretha Franklin stepped in at the last minute to sing "Nessun Dorma" for Luciano Pavarotti. Lect's Soup Stop puts that performance in a cup and calls it Loaded Potato. Nothing but jaw-dropping chunky bites of luxury in these Styrofoam bowls. On a clammy fall day I picnicked at one of the Stop's several outdoor tables. The wind whipped my book's pages. Leaves fell into my lunch. My butt was cold and wet. Awesome. This is opera for stonemasons. After finishing my meal and while drafting this post, Chef Charles introduced himself and poked me for some commentary. I told him to look for an Aretha reference on Yelp. As I started the car to leave, he waved an envelope at me and yelled, "Hey Gary, I got some mail from from Yelp!" I love coincidences and Lect's soup. Food is great, I rarely ever actually get soup. Lect's rotates it's menu all the time. If you're on a budget, this place can cost you up to $10 per meal. The guys working here don't accept tips, but instead donations for a local charity they support. No frills, no bullshit. I like that. read more

Soup! We love soup! We need soup! Luckily, we found Lect's! Vegetarians - so we can only review 2 soups, Country Vegetable and Tomato Basil. Hearty, substantial, tasty deliciousness! Well, that is what I say about the Tomato Basil. Husband agreed and he tried the Vegetable yesterday and loved it (I have to avoid this one because it has peas in it - blech, I can't eat anything with peas). I would love to see some more vegetarian options - like a broccoli cheese or potato, especially in these cold winter months! Lect's is a tiny little lunch spot in Georgetown that serves up good, and sometimes even great soup. It's not fancy stuff, just classic soups like your grandma used to make. Check out their website to see what soups they're featuring each day. They always have Country Vegetable, which is not my favorite, but is nice if you're a vegetarian looking for something a little bit lighter than the usual Georgetown lunch fare. The Green Chile Chicken and the Sausage and Chicken Gumbo are both absolutely delicious. The soups always come out super hot and they're served with a Grand Central Bakery roll. For just a dollar or two extra you can add on a small grilled cheese panini. Again, not at all fancy but oddly comforting on a rainy Seattle day. Must be the American cheese. There's plenty of street parking so getting in and out for lunch is super easy. Gotta love that the profits go to charity! read more

This place is quickly becoming my favorite lunch go to spot. I go on their website and if the soup looks good (which it normally does), I will head over. The soup is delicious and super quick, by the time I'm done paying my soup is ready to take home. I've tried 3 different flavors, and my favorites are currently, salmon chowder and tomato basil. I am excited that I found out about this gem. There is a lack of good, healthy, high-quality food in the SoDo area of Seattle, so to find a place like this, it's like finding the gold at the end of the rainbow (: The staff is friendly, funny and quick on service. Their website is thorough and even includes a soup calendar so you can easily plan what you want to eat and when throughout the month. I was pleased to find out they are a nonprofit who provides eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures to those who cannot afford them. A big plus! This is my go to place for lunch. I love-love their soup menu. They are so fresh and yummy. Their service is pretty quick. Not much wait time. They also have a punch card, you get a soup free after 10 buys. They have a pretty decent sandwich menu and the prices are reasonable. Keep it up guys!!! read more

Lect's does soup well - really well in fact. Their Guiness Stew at St. Pat's time was excellent, and their gumbo is chock full of andouille and okra. But when you do something well, you should just stick to it. Lect's doesn't. Their sandwiches are terrible. Not in a disgusting way, just in a bland, Applebee's kinda way. Their sausage & peppers has no kick at all (yes, they describe it as mild, but who wants that?), and their pulled pork is an affront to BBQ. What makes it infinitely worse is that these are $7.50 sandwiches!! They're also charging you for the honor of receiving a bag of mass-produced cookies and macaroni salad, which I think most consumers could do without. Been twice, so I know it wasn't a fluke. Chicken curry soup w/ basmati rice was filling, flavorful, and hot. Definitely tasted home made. Nacho Cuban press was a gut bomb but it was also awesome and totally hit the spot. It's clear the panini press is well seasoned. I am editing my review because I've gone back now and tried this a couple of times after being contacted by the owner and telling me they have made significant changes. These changes were in fact well executed and I'm happy to say that they are back on track with some really great soup. I look forward to the winter selection. I've been going here for a couple years now and within the last several months the quality went from 4 to 5 stars to not so good. I am very disappointed in the change. The Butternut Squash soup the other day was nothing but water down chicken broth with one chunk of squash and some tiny tidbits of sausage. It was so disappointing. Also my favorite Grilled Caprese Sandwich is no longer all that grilled or wonderful. I would love for them to fix this issue so I could love them again! read more

Lect's is a wonderful addition to the Georgetown neighborhood! They have quite a selection of different soups, but the Georgetown Beer Brocolli Cheddar Bacon is my fave. Really good. They are expanding their menu to include wraps as well, and the $1 cheese panini's are always a nice addition to the soup. They keep their website updated with the soup of the day and there is the CUTEST guy that works there, so that's always a treat in itself! Also, eating at Lect's not only does your stomach good, it helps the community too. LECT stands for Life Enhancement Charitble Trust, providing glasses, hearing aids and dentures to those less fortunate. They also donate their soups to The Union Gospel Mission. That makes it not just good eats, but good intentions too, and I like that. read more

Although I've never gone to the soup stop location I get to encounter Tim, the owner on a weekly basis because he shops where I work. He's a very chatty, old school, sometimes crotchity old man but, he's a pleasure. One day Tim came in with a sack lunch for me. His Chicken Salad Wrap, some maccaroni salad, and cookies. Way to get to a pregnant ladies heart! I saved the wrap for lunch the next day which made it get a little on the soggy side and other than being a little oniony it was delicious! Chicken, grapes, walnuts, a ceasar sauce, very crunchy and flavorful. The maccaroni salad, which I can get really picky about cause I hate when they're made with Miracle whip, was really good. Not made with miracle whip, a nice combo of noodles and veggies. Also, I am writting this review with a belly full of Chicken Pot Pie soup! To our surprise and joy Tim brought in a big pot of it for our employees complete with crust topping! Amazing! Now I look forward to checking out the Soup Calender and going in for lunch because it's really not far from my work. And you gotta love that some of the profits go to charity and the left over soup is donated as well! read more

I'm not a big soup fan but I've liked just about every soup I've had here. The real star though is the butternut squash and prosciutto soup. Every start of the month the new soup calendar comes out and I make sure I know when that soup will be there. The squash is puréed so this soup feels very rich especially with the added prosciutto. Best soup I've eaten outside of homemaking it! Their soup is made fresh daily and they are always trying new flavors - I find myself returning every other day to try something new and I'm never disappointed. Their sandwiches are pretty good, too, a step above the average sandwich shop. Also, I am addicted to their salads. They use the freshest ingredients and their salad dressing is definitely housemade. I've never had cheese this soft from a salad before, they definitely don't skimp on the quality! I work in the neighborhood and have been going to Lect's Soup Stop for a couple of years. I have noticed that recently the soups have become just broth with a few tidbits of meat and vegetable. Even the chili w/beef and beans was merely watery broth with a few beans. I gave it another try today, and ordered the Split Pea Soup which also turned out to be like overly peppered chicken broth with some carrots and a couple spoons of peas. There is a reason the saying is "as thick as pea soup." I have coworkers that have stopped going to Lect's Soup Stop and I am sorry to say this was my last visit as well. : ( read more

Vegetable is there every day...and it's a good, hearty, variety of veggie soup! What happened? Lect's soup used to be so good. Their soups were like $5 each and proceeds were given to some charity. Then the prices slowly went up and up as quality goes down, down, down.. I just ordered two soups and cheese bread for $22 dollars - OUCH. And then the soup tasted like it was out of can, I can appreciate the sand particles as part of the clam chowder experience. We went to Lect's for the first time today. I was a little afraid to order, fearful that I would do it wrong and they would tell me, "no soup for you". But the chef was too nice to say that. We got our soups and they were delicious. I had the chicken chile verde. It reminded me of my friends mother's pozole verde, with corn kernels instead of the posole. My husband had the gumbo and thought his was better than mine. I beg to differ. The cheese panini was the perfect accompaniment. Our lunch was home-cooked, feel good food, so good in fact that we're going back tomorrow for the beef borsht. read more
