As another reviewer said, really good BBQ restaurants are hard to find in the Sacramento area. I'm not very picky about my BBQ but my husband is so finding a place that meets his high standards isn't always easy, too. We tried Dickey's for the first time last night and he actually said that it was pretty decent and that's high praise coming from him. I got the one item meat plate with the spicy cheddar sausage and he had the two item meat plate with the beef brisket and pulled pork. The meat on both plates was very tasty without being too smokey. The sides were great as well. I really loved the jalapeño beans and both my husband and son enjoyed the waffle fries and onion straws. We'll definitely go back and hopefully next time we will save room for the free soft-serve ice cream that is available for dessert. One quick thing to add. A good deal of reviews mentioned the poor customer service received at this location. As a person who places a high premium on receiving attentive and courteous service, I didn't notice any of that last night at all. read more

I'm a fan of Dickie's, but I've been to this location twice now and there have been issues both times. The first time I came, they made two errors on my order. This time, the sauce and meat was not very hot, the sausage was even colder. The rolls were very underdone (still white, instead of the usual golden brown). The potato casserole was on par with the other locations and piping hot. I prefer the locations in Rocklin or Folsom over this one. We'll see if the new Florin Road location will be better. read more

Came in with a friend on a Monday evening around 8:30pm. 2 other groups were there and 2 other groups came in when I finished the order. Food: First time trying this place. I ordered a rib plate. Almost like any other BBQ place like Lucille's. Rib meat came right out of the bone. There were 3 different type of BBQ Sauce and I tried all of them and all of them tasted great. The rib plate also comes with 2 sides and a dinner roll with onions and pickles. The onions and pickles part were really small portions, maybe about an ounce in weight. For my sides I had mac and cheese and waffle iron fries. The mac and cheese was like any other fast food mac & cheese place like in KFC. The waffle iron fries though was very tasty. Good crispy texture and good amount of seasoning/salt. What was nice that when you purchase for dine in you get free ice cream and they provide cones. Place: Very casual setting. Almost like a Subway style of service where you order the food, they prepare it then, and then out you go. They had 2 flat screen TVs to show sports. Bathrooms were well kept. Store was pretty long lengthwise when going in. What was nice is that they had plastic utensils but it looked like silverware. Would come back if I just wanted BBQ. read more

Under new management and really concerned that they are trying to cut corners. I have been a Dickeys customer for years and was so disappointed with my brisket today that I just threw it away as inedible. The sides are great but they don't know how to cook brisket. It needs to be slow cooked so that it just crumbles. Going back to the Roseville location until this location decides to follow the Dickeys recipes. read more

Had a not so good visit here tonight, came in with my family for dinner. As we walked in the staff was cleaning as if it was closing time and it seemed like a hassle that we walked in. Me and my husband ordered the Big BBQ sandwich's the girl cutting the meat offered for us to get the meal of the day, (what we were getting but it then came with two sides and a drink. ) okay sounds great right?... not so much because the sides we wanted could not be made because they where cleaning the fryer an hour before they close. I'm disappointed because I once was a manager for a Dickey's a few years ago and this was a Big no no.. (closing early.) needless to say we won't be back. It was my first time trying Dickeys, so I wanted it to be simple and easy since I read the reviews about how long it takes just to order your food and pay. I went with the online order, very easy and no problems. I thought great I can just swing in a out and I'll be good, nope. Got there 7:45pm and there was 6-8 ppl waiting in line to order there food. I walk over to the "online order pick up" and waited for 2 people to pay that took 15 mins. Great my turn said I was here for a pick up, said my name and got a weird pause, and one gal said to the other gal, "will you tell him" we are out of ribs (that's all I ordered) and I didn't want anything else. So at that time it was about 8:10, so I waited 25 mins for nothing. Why would they ask for your phone # for any problems with your order if they don't use it and save some time. Incompetent & RUDE!! While the food is decent, the staff at this particular Dickey's are downright not good at their jobs. I had an order to go. It's a good thing I checked before I left. I found that 2/3 of the order was missing!!!! Imagine getting home with most of the food missing! Anyway, I advised them of exactly what was missing.I patiently waited while they attempted to correct the order. They still got it wrong. I advised them of what was still incorrect and they acted like I was the one being difficult!!! How absurd. I was very nice up until that point. In fact, I was too nice even after that point. People who appear normal but, act retarded deserve to be told how stupid they are. They finally got the order correct. What a mess! New Years Eve 2021, approximately 7:30 pm. The sheer irony is that this place has at least two two pieces of printer paper attached to the walls that are highlighted in yellow that read (and I'm paraphrasing), "if you like us, write a good review." Uh, no. The cook wasn't wearing a mask. Enough said. We all know what's going on in the world right now and the least a business that sits in a strip mall in a suburban neighborhood can do is take the transmission of this virus seriously. On a positive note, the woman (wearing glasses and blondish hair) seemed dissapointed in the cook and asked him if he had a mask. Whatever the cook's answer was, his reaction wan't positive effect or compliant. He continued to cook more food without a mask. Take my words for what they're worth. The woman in the glasses was apologetic, I give her 5 stars. We straight up told her we wanted a refund. She did it. Super dissapointed because we were looking forward to trying Dickey's. First negative review ever for me, and it took 3 separate experiences to post this. Food is what you would expect for Dickey's and I generally like it (brisket underwhelming) but the staff and customer service at this location are shockingly horrible. Outside of not having their cheddar sausage available any of the three times we have gone there, the first time they had charged for an online order for items that were not available and were then completely unhelpful about reversing charges. Took multiple phone calls and pleading to have them call a manager to get anywhere (was told "go to our website" where there was no helpful information). Second time picking up food got home to find portions much smaller than ordered, and this evening after ordering in store and clarifying they included everything ordered in our bag, got home to a third of the order missing. Should have learned our lesson the first time. This location sucks. read more

This is my first time here and first walkin in it smells AMAZING... The staff is VERY FRIENDLY! Can't wait to actually sink my teeth in but if it tastes as good a it smells I'll be back for sure!! After the taste: I got the 2 meat combo plate with pulled pork, ribs, macaroni, and baked beans and got my mom the westerner sandwich with the sliced brisket and everything was DELICIOUS!! The meat was all yummy and tender and the sides were so good. The food was great and filling as well. We tried all 3 sauces and I couldn't decide which I liked best. This is the second time from this location that I received dry and crumbled beef brisket. I came in at 12:45pm on March 6th. There was only one other customer in the store. There were 2 employees, the service was fine, but the food was awful... I ordered the Pit Boss Deal #6, I specifically asked for sliced brisket because the last time I visited this same location the meat was extremely dry and crumbled when ordering the sliced, this time it wasn't juicy and definitely wasn't EVEN warm, in fact I got 1 nicely looking slice but dry piece on top, that once I ate that slice I found crumbled brisket as I specifically told the worker I didn;t want. My roll was also cold. Now my sides were perfect temperature, but all the pictures I have seen both on the Dickey's website and on this yelp shows the Baked Potato Casserole is topped with shredded cheese and fresh green onions, mine might as well been loaded mashed potatoes no shredded cheese, and some greenish brown onions blended in. The food was "ok" taste wise, but like that old saying "looked ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like the photos." But I was highly disappointed with the quality once again. On top of everything I find it odd that Dickey's BBQ does not offer a feedback directly to headquarters. I ordered 2 other orders for colleagues and they thought there orders were moderately ok. read more

Definitely the best ribs in elk grove hands down. I come here all the time, the manager is very nice. It is a little more expensive than I would like to normally spend but definitely worth every penny. From I can see they smoke all their meats fresh daily in a real smoker. I swear I saw them add wood to it. Also try the pecan pie. Literally to die for. read more

I ordered 3 half lbs orders of brisket from them at 8pm this evening online. While I'm there getting my sause I hear someone say we're out of brisket. When I got back to the register they have my bag so I figure I got the last of it. When I get home to eat this food I see that I have about a half lb total of brisket. I call them at 830, talked to the guy that I saw there with dread locks that helped me when I walked in. I told him I was short on my meat. He argues with me saying they weigh their meat there. I tell him I'm sure that you do. I have a half lb total here, I paid 30 bucks for this order. I'm short 1 lb of meat. He does absolutely nothing to try and help me. He just keeps saying they weigh their meat there over and over. I know that guy! You shorted me two thirds of my meat order and robbed me of 16 dollars. This is total bs. They do nothing to try and fix their f up. DO NOT GO THIS DICKEYS. THEY WILL ROB YOU. THEY WILL NOT REMEDY THEIR MIATAKES. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Such a shame. When this shop first opened, it looked good. Features were whole dill pickles and soft ice cream cones (free). BUT, I asked for a sliced brisket sandwich. What I got was a chopped-up version.
