Haven't had Dickey's in about 10 years , decided to try it out with a promo on Grubhub. Chicken sandwich was much smaller than expected and quite dry. Fries were good, well seasoned. Mac n cheese was good, really similar to KFC so kinda pricy at $10 for a large that wasn't large at all. This place is a pretty decent barbecue joint compared to many others within the area. I have only found one place in Sacramento that has better barbecue than this place. It is reasonably priced and the meals at this place are good enough for one person. Although, I do wish that their ribs were not already prepared with barbecue sauce. Excellent service! All three employees were super nice and did their jobs efficiently. I thought I would have to wait a while since there were seven people ahead of me, but the employees made the line go fast. One employee who went back and forth between the sides and cash register even remembered to don gloves before handling the food. The sauces were filled and the restaurant was clean. This place seems very popular for a Saturday night, as son as I rang out there were five others in line. A good restaurant for a quick barbecue meal. I have no complaints. read more

I ordered an Xlarge family pack for our 4th of July dinner, been going to this place and I have always Love their barbecue, but today was a complete disaster, our family was looking forward to a tasty and hearty meal, yaikks, the meat was cold, (brisket, pulled pork and ribs), sides were cold, no sauce provided, pickles and onions missing, and the serving was soooo small for a meal that is supposed to feed 6 to 8 people. So I called and all they can say is "why don't you come back here and we will give you the missing items", I mean seriously??? Good food and customer service worth writing about! Dickey's opened today with a promotion offering a free pulled pork sandwich to the first 100 customers. They opened at 11:00 and I got there about 10:45 and the line was already about 20-30 people deep. I went with a buddy of mine who is a bbq aficionado originally from Kansas City. When the door opened everyone cheered and the owner and employees came out and started handing out the free sandwich cards. They also talked with the customers and got everyone smiling. We had the free pulled pork sandwich and we also ordered a 2 meat plate for $10.95. We went with the sliced brisket and ribs. It came with 2 sides and I had the potato salad and the baked potato casserole. All the employees were engaging, friendly, fun and professional. Even before I tasted the food I was starting to like the place. One of the stars was just for the fact that they used crushed ice for their soft drinks. What is it about crushed ice that makes it so superior to cubes and those weird oval shapes from your refrigerator? But I digress... Overall, the food was very good. The brisket was cooked well and the potato salad had good flavor. The rib meat fell off the bone, which I thought was a good thing, but my friend, who I learned today is trained as a BBQ judge, said that technically the ribs should stay on the bone until you pick it up and then easily slide off as you bite it (so the rib meat doesn't fall on the plate leaving you with a bone). As long as it tastes good, I'm cool with it and when the owner came around asking how everything was, we said good. We kept talking between ourselves casually about the technical side of BBQ and what gets extra points in competitions and what gets points taken away. Just general foodie table talk. A little while later one of the representatives from the restaurant came by and said we looked like BBQ'ers and wanted to know our honest opinion. I said I more of a BBQ eater than a cooker, but my friend will give you the straight dope. My friend talked about how the silverskin should be removed before cooking and they chatted bbq for a bit. Then the owner came back by and wanted to make sure everything was OK. He seemed really committed to making sure everything was perfect...not just good. They talked about preferences between sliced brisket and chopped and my friend told him about the falling off the bone thing and the silverskin thing, and get this, the owner seemed to actually care! We were totally OK with our food and both said we would come back again for the brisket, but the owner left and came back by a little with more ribs for us to try! I thought the first ribs were good, but the second ribs were so much better. They didn't fall off the bone, they were cooked better (juicier) and the smoked flavor came through even more than the first batch. This Dickey's location seems to have a pretty good team behind it. They get 2 stars for the food (I'd really give it 4 stars, but I can only use up so many :), 1 star for the chopped ice, 1 star for the service, and 1 star for having free soft serve ice cream for paying customers. Came here with my daughter (5) she got the kids nuggets with a side of mac n cheese with a fruit punch. I got BBQ pork sandwich with waffle fries and Cole slaw and of course my favorite sweet tea.....everything I had was amazing my sandwich had onions and pickles the meat was very juicy and the waffle fries are seasoned with salt and pepper. My daughters on the other hand her nuggets look like the frozen dino nuggets(they looked burnt) from Costco and she didn't like her mac and cheese (she could live on mac n Cheese) she also got a freshly baked roll that she didn't eat. So since she didn't finish no free soft serve cone.....maybe next time! read more

Never ever eat here! Quite possibly one of the worst eating and customer service experiences I have ever experienced. I called in the order a little before 5 pm, and they seemed nice enough, repeating back to me what I had order then asked when I wanted to come get it. I told them I would come pick it up at 5:30, and then drove over with my husband after running a few errands. They had 40 minutes to put the order together. When we got there at 5:30 pm, the joint was empty. Our food was ready and my husband left them a nice tip. We didn't check our meal until we got home hungry and ready for some BBQ. Much to our surprise they had left the sides out, so we got the ribs and pulled pork sandwich my husband ordered, and just the brisket I ordered but no sides. I called them and they said they could credit me back, but we had paid cash, so they said I could drive pick up the sides. I told them that wasn't worth my time and energy and asked them to throw in some more ribs and I would come back. The manager Danielle agreed to my request so I drove the half hour back to Dickeys and when I got there, Danielle informed me she had spoken with HER manager and he said she couldn't give me the ribs, just the sides they left out. By this time, it was an hour after I had picked up my food and I was pissed. She said she could give me any sides I wanted so I told her to give me one of every side, which at first she agreed to, and then she changed her mind and said she could only give me 5 sides. There was zero accountability on her part. I took what she offered, because it was something. I told her I was unhappy with the poor service and she just shrugged and handed me my food. I got home 1 1/2 hours after initially picking up my food and sat down to eat cold brisket which is tough and like shoe-leather, and cold ribs (which were actually pretty tender even cold, also pretty fatty). The coleslaw was slimy and bland and a the roll was tough, tastless and like cardboard. The green beans were cooked to a green mushy over-cooked mess, and the baked potato casserole was a thick, bland paste-like substance. The BBQ beans were pretty flavorful and not mushy or overcooked. This was the only side that I actually ate. I threw everything else away. The food was terrible, the service was terrible and this whole experience was just a waste of time and money. This is NOT cheap take out. The price for this food is comparable with other eat-in chains; we spent $30 for two entrees and sides. I wish I could take back the cash tip my husband left them.The other two girls who were working seemed to be moving in slow motion and no one seemed to care particularly that I just spent an hour driving back and forth to rectify a mistake that shouldn't have happened in the first place. If they were busy, I might have been a little more understanding, but the place was empty! For almost the same price, you can go to Texas Roadhouse and eat top-notch BBQ and be treated like royalty. I'll never ever eat at Dickeys again. If this place closes because of Covid-19, I will not mourn it's closure at all. read more

My first experience was great - free soda, free ice cream with cone, and free pickles. What is there not to love right? On top of that, ribs were good - meat falls right off the bone. There are three bbq sauces I think - original, sweet, and sweet n' spicy. My favorite was the sweet n' spicy. The sides were a great addition to the meal. Got the green beans, bbq beans, and mac n' cheese. The best out of the three sides was the bbq beans. Definitely coming back to this place again. Dickie's recently catered a group event and I got to try more of their menu items. We had the barbecued chicken, chopped brisket, mac & cheese, baked potato casserole and barbecued beans. Usually, I am beef fan and will gravitate to that, but the chicken was very tender and I ended up going back for that several times. It stayed moist and tender from the first serving to the last. The brisket was good when it first arrived, but after an hour or so, it dried out. Luckily, they provided a lot of sauce so we just put some on the brisket and it hydrated pretty quickly. The side dishes were very tasty. Not slap yo mama great, but were a nice compliment to the meal. The baked potato casserole is something I would definitely come back for again. After I wrote my initial review, I was contacted by Jared regarding my less than stellar experience. I appreciated his prompt follow up and genuine concern. I've gotten a few robo-replies from business which are worse than not getting a reply at all. I like when business owners listen to guests' experiences and feedback to make positive changes. I think that this shows their willingness to partner with guests for a better overall experience. Kudos to Jared and his team! read more

Soooo good! This was my first time coming here and I couldn't have had a better experience. Everyone was super friendly and the cashier, Karen, was extremely attentive. She greeted us and offered to write the remaining balance on our gift card while continuing to smile. The 2 meat plate I got had spicy cheddar sausage and chicken breast, dill potato salad, and barbeque beans. It was amazing and hot! The sausage definitely had a kick. The other 2 meat plate had pulled pork and brisket with Mac and cheese and waffle iron fries. The BBQ was awesome. We will definitely be back!!! read more

Dickey's Elk Grove - I went in because I was craving some brisket. I spend $20 and the meat was super dry - I ordered to-go so I didn't find out till I got home or else I would complained! The onion tanglers were lacking the crispy crunch, more like limp onions. The 3 employees seemed to really not want to be working, they were not welcoming at all. It was like I did all the talking and thanked them (for really doing nothing). Customer service is lacking in a big way! ***UPDATE*** I wanted to say that I got a call the very next day after I posted this from the store manager, Jaime. He was very nice and apologized to me for the experience I had at his store. He told me he appreciated my feedback and would work on customer service. He also offered to have me come back in and have a re-do of my meat plate. I feel valued and like my opinion mattered to this store. If you like pre prepared food and cold meat eat here. The food is pre cooked not fresh and pre packaged they pull out of fridge is what it looks like and put in box about. Now the food is decent I asked for baby back they gave me spare ribs. Meat was very fatty but tastes good sides look big but they use cups that are indented so it's actually small amount of food for the sides. The bun is good but extremely small. Sauce is good but you can taste the plastic bottle it comes from. I will say it again I tried you about 10 years ago in San Diego Mira Mesa when you first came out and I didn't like you then and honestly I think it's worse now. I will say thou the jalapeño cheddar kielbasa is good but once again it is also served to you cold not hot and fresh honestly makes me wonder how many days it was cooked back before sold to me. read more

I showed her the email and receipt number, and Carly said she could not find the order. I asked to have another order prepared and she refused. I asked her to reverse the charges and she said I needed to call the Dickey's corporate offices (no number provided). I left a message for the manager (Miguel) and no response. Of all things they forget (but also didn't bother putting utensils and napkins for to-go pick up orders) but they forgot the MOST ESSENTIAL part of the order....BARBECUE SAUCES!! A full slab goes a long way. The mac & cheese was so good and cheesy-creamy. The potato salad was also good. Forgot they had free pickles. Didn't get any. Did get a small ice cream on the way out. Very good. Forgot to add. The young man who helped us ( the receipt said Jaime) was very nice. He seemed to be the only one working. 2nd time eating here and it is the same as the first time, EXCELLENT!! We ordered the two meat plate, Turkey and beef brisket. The turkey was a little dry but when you add the barbecue sauce turned out fine. The brisket was very tasty and had that great barbecue taste. I ordered the two meat plate, Polish sausage and honey baked ham, and both were excellent. They have many choices for your side orders, baked beans, cole slaw, green beans with bacon, fried okra, and many others. The prices are reasonable. So bring the family! I like this place! I was scared to go, so I didn't go the whole 3 years they've been in the area. Finally went with the kids...& it was good! I didn't care for the ribs but between us, we had brisket, ham & pulled pork and those were great. Their sauce is great & they give free soft serve ice cream. But the winner is their sweet tea!!! Delicious. I must also add that they had really good customer service. My husband works for Apple and had received a free BBQ sandwich card. I went yesterday to redeem that sandwich. As I approached the place, the smell was intoxicating! Stomach growling and mouth watering, I eagerly walked up into the establishment but only to be turned with a smile. The place wasn't officially opened yet. My heart was broken, but I wasn't going to give up. I'm 4 months pregnant and darn gone-it , my baby was going to get some Texas BBQ. The next day before heading to work I drove past the place, and of course as I expected, there was a huge line. With not enough time to wait with the crowd and expect to get to work on time (this was lunch hour) I got the smart idea of calling in an order. I don't believe they were expecting call in orders on their first day opened, but the manger hooked me up. I walked and was greeted with warm smiles, picked up my order and even took me a pickle to go. THE HAVE CRUSHED ICE YALL! The atmosphere is really nice, and kids under 12 eat for free. Great place to take the family after church. I greatly value customer service, and they got it down. The owner even new my name when I picked up my meal. The cook came out and spoke to customers. Wait, I haven't even spoke about the food! So, we picked up the free BBQ sandwich with Texas chopped brisket. I was concerned about the sandwich, because I usually ask to have a BBQ sandwich with sauce on the side, and I forgot. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't douse the sandwich in sauce. It actually had no sauce, which allowed you to really taste the natural smokey flavor of the meat. I also ordered the Baker with pulled pork and man was that baby good!!!! I give this place four stars cause I understand they just opened, so they are on their p's and q's. If 6 months down the line Dickey's BBQ Pit keeps up the customer service and doesn't allow the quality of their product go down, I will give them five starts.
