The turkey, chicken, and brisket are my favorite smoked meats from Dickeys. I was first introduced to Dickey's at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport (DFW). It was soooo good to me that I ordered a plate to take on the plane to my destination and ordered another when I flew back in to take home. So every time I see one, I am going to stop because we don't have this chain in North Carolina! The Mac n cheese, green beans, original bbq sauce are banging! I'll be back soon!

I like this place. Despite a strip mall location, the food was better than I expected. I had the sausage and Mister had the shredded pork. Both were delicious. The sides were really good too (just know they're a la carte). The sauces were good, not special, but good. The only thing is that a few flies made it inside and fanning them was a pain. I spent a good bit of time fighting to keep them from getting near my food.

    BBQ time.

We stopped at Georgia welcome center and we saw this place advertised. To be honest we didn't go there at first. Place that we wanted to eat was so packed that we left. When we walked in to Dickey there was no wait. I ordered 1 meat plate with pulled pork and side dishes and my husband ordered 2 meat plate with pulled pork and keilbasa. Pulled pork was gooooooood with 3 choices of bbq sauce on side. At the end of our meal we got free soft serve ice cream.

3 meat plate (and you can get ribs)

We were looking for something…read morecasual but filling for dinner and because we had not tried out this place yet but had driven by several times, we decided to check it out. Definitely a great decision on a hunch. This is an all you can eat hot pot concept and frankly my first time attending this version. While I have visited hibachi restaurants in the past, this is not that. Basically this is a dual table side prep concept where you can either make your own custom soups and broths, and hot pot seafood or you can select the grill and grill of a variety of fresh meats and fish and vegetables, or you can get both. Both come with a small dessert bar and seem to be accompanied with the additional Fresh salad and sauce bar, although I'm not quite sure if one of those may have been restricted if you did the grill only or the hot pot only. Pricing is pretty fair at about $30 a person which rises to mid 30s if you decide to get both options. We went with the combo because we had never tried this concept before, but in the future, I may lean more towards the grill option only. Especially if I'm not in the mood for hot pot or soup. But I definitely enjoyed the combination choice for our first visit. The meat and vegetable selections at this restaurant are pretty vast and this is after the server first sets you up and allows you to pick from several different types of broth for your hot pot. In addition, they have a sauce bar that must've had 20+ sauces available to choose from. I think one of the most overwhelming aspects of this concept is lack of familiarity with the right combinations of hot pot and grilled options. For this we leaned heavily on our server and she did a great job of guiding us through a couple of her favorite combinations, as well as some of the favorite combinations of other patrons. This was really helpful because there isn't a menu or chart to help you unlock all of the really cool combinations that you can put together including Ramen udon and Thai soup varieties. All of the ingredients you need to make any of those dishes, but in your own customize version, are here to your heart's desire. Service is really good as they do switch out the grills rather rapidly as they will get charred and start to burn and smoke after three or four rounds of fresh meats and veggies slapped on them. However, they do not switch out your broth choice so once you make your choice, that's what you're rolling with for the rest of the dinner. All in all we were really satisfied with the freshness and the preparation of most of the ingredients and sauces. I did think the dessert bar was a little weak given the multitude of options elsewhere, but I also understand that this is consistent with the cultural preferences, which don't skew as heavy on traditional sweets, like American taste do. All in all this is definitely a treat for those looking for a great date night or just looking to take the family out for a really engaging and tasty cook at your table experience - all you can eat style!

The ambiance was quiet and really enjoyable--perfect for a relaxed meal. The broth could use a bit more flavor overall, but the spicy one was definitely the standout. Service, though busy, was very attentive. Just a quick wave of the hand and they were in motion. Very professional and represented their establishment well. The in table grill was not the best I've seen, I prefer a mesh grate that allows more of the flame to directly touch the meat, but it worked well enough once we cranked up the heat to get some caramelization. My coworker had never had KB so we went simple with the Bulgagi beef and pork. The beef was very good, but the pork was outstanding. Both were expertly prepped in paper thin, small slices just big enough to make them easy to cook but not so big you spent a lot of time with the scissors. Wonderfully seasoned, these two items alone would make a destination menu. Broth cabbage and cucumber kimchi were on point, well spiced and the perfect textures. Daikon radish was very good as well, crisp and the perfect balance between sweet and sour. We walked into Georgia Comfort…read moreKitchen off I-95 on one of those gray, damp Georgia afternoons, and from the first bowl of gumbo, the weather outside stopped mattering entirely. We ordered off the menu rather than the buffet -- though both were available and the buffet looked well-stocked and genuinely tempting. My husband had the Shrimp & Grits: Georgia shrimp over stone-ground grits with andouille sausage, peppers, onions, bacon, and a sherry cream sauce. Rumor had it that was the move, and the rumor was right. The grits alone were the kind you don't stop talking about -- velvety, deeply seasoned, the kind of base that makes everything sitting on top of it taste better than it already is. I went with the fried catfish, a side of mac and cheese, and a bowl of gumbo. Honest take: the catfish itself was good -- the fish was fresh and well-flavored -- but the batter had gone a little soggy, which kept it from landing where it could have. That's the kind of thing that varies by timing, not kitchen quality. The mac and cheese, though, was exactly what you want: cheesy without being gluey, hot all the way through, properly indulgent. And the gumbo -- chicken and sausage, rich and built with patience -- was the best thing on my side of the table. On a rainy afternoon in coastal Georgia, it was exactly right. Then there was the cornbread, served with peach cobbler butter. That detail alone tells you something about how this kitchen thinks. It's not an afterthought. It completed everything around it. I'm not from the South, and I won't pretend to have a lifetime of comparison points. But there's a kind of food that makes you feel like you were born into it anyway -- like your body already knew what it was tasting. That's what happened here. Good for road trippers, families, rainy days, and anyone who needs a real meal after a long stretch of highway. Four stars, with the grits alone pulling hard toward four and a half.
