Just for some context, I came here out of spite due to an unsatisfying lunch experience at a competing establishment (Famous Dave's), and wow, what a massive upgrade! The price is definitely right and you absolutely get your money's worth; you'll feel like every dollar was well spent. You will be spending a good amount of time tackling the generous portions of sides and meats. The beef brisket and pulled pork are both juicy and tender, feeling as if they've been sitting well enough in the cooker. Plus, their three barbecue sauces (Original, Sweet, and Spicy) further amplify the authentic Texan experience! The staff is incredibly nice and they genuinely seem happy to work here. There are nothing but friendly vibes, and I overheard them patiently and happily answering any questions the customers had. The place is simple, featuring a clean, well-lit, old-school design. There are big tables all around to enjoy your meal, fully stocked with various barbecue sauces and plenty of paper towels to clean your hands. I will definitely be coming back whenever I need a Texan BBQ fix!

December 11, 2025 decided to stop by Dickie's barbecue ordered chicken breast sandwich no sauce with delicious fries and pulled pork. No extra sauce with fries, we will provide it with excellent customer service by Kurtis and Liz. We appreciate you buying the extra mile. The food was delicious. I highly recommend this location. Will be back on Thursday or Saturday to enjoy your excellent customer service. Thank you again. They provided us with excellent customer service and the food was delicious. I really appreciate it. I visited this location to eat after Sunday afternoon church as their Buena Park location is currently closed. I ordered a sliced beef brisket sandwich and made it a combo which meant a side and a fountain drink. I chose French Fries for the side. Food quality was satisfactory. Not excellent, not bad but certainly satisfactory. I was disappointed that Pepsi was not available as a drink choice. There was a single all gender washroom that was not totally immaculate and there was graffiti on the inside of the washroom. However I was glad that paper towels were available. I have a bone to pick with the general appearance of the employees at this establishment. I noticed that the employees failed to tuck their shirts in. I consider that to be highly unprofessional. For that reason I am dinging this establishment one point. If I was to assign a letter grade as is done in school this establishment would be in there solid with a C.

BBQ was fantastic. I got the 3 meat plate with a double portion of sliced brisket and Polish kielbasa. My sides were baked beans and loaded mashed potato with gravy. The place is clean and the service was great. Miss the old days of the pickles and ice cream. Took more than half the plate home so the wife will be happy :)

I should of read the "don't go after 7pm" review, but I will NEVER go back. Being in the mood for brisket I thought I would satisfy my craving by going to my "neighborhood " Dickies.... Food and service was great! The gentleman at the counter was patient while we looked at the menu and tended to us quickly and politely. My girlfriend and I got the meat plates. I got the 3 Meat Plate with Brisket (sliced), pulled pork, and smoked chicken with the sides of mac n cheese and fries. I loved every bite. The meats were nice and tender, plus their sauces pack a ton of flavor. I recommend trying any of the 5 options! I'm surprised this place is not busier, the food and service are great. I've tried to place three orders through GrubHub within the past two months and each one was canceled. I enjoy the food but it's frustrating that the business continues to cancel the orders. I thought the first time was an isolated incident so I tried again then my husband convinced me to try a third time...but, I'm done now. This has to be the nicest Dickey's I've been to. It's not only super clean, but the staff is awesome. They honored my request for lean cuts, unlike many other SoCal bbq places I've been to. The young man who helped me was super polite, & very accommodating. I struck up a small conversation as he prepped my food, & he was cordial along with being very astute. I wish I got his name so the owners can give him the recognition he deserves. Give that man a raise so you retain him. Help like that is hard to find! I was there the afternoon on Friday, same day as this review. Overall, great restaurant, great staff, great food. Dickey's needs to bring back the free ice cream, but I can't fault this place for that. I may need to make the drive up here more often. read more

Buyer Beware In case you hadn't noticed, Dickys is adding an additional charge to your bill called Renew/Recycle Program. I didn't see any notification in the store, so they're basically picking your pocket. The charge seems to vary based on your order. Had I known, I would have walked out. This is in addition to the price increases added to their food, but all restaurants have increased pricing. They are also adding 50cents, per container if you ask for extra BBQ sauce on Togo orders. At least I was told this at the register, at the time of payment. Consider bringing a small container and add additional sauce from the containers on the table. read more

Seems like a quaint location to just have a pleasant meal. Ordered take out, and got the Prime Rib Sandwich, Small Order of Steak Fries, and Mac Salad. The Prime RIb Sandwich offered an okay amount of meat, but it was fatty and flavorful. The Mild BBQ sauce paired fairly well with the sandwich. Star of the meal is the steak fries. Well seasoned, well cooked. The mac salad is mac salad: creamy. Would come back to try some of the other meals.

Today I took my sister to introduce her to the best steak sandwich around. She started eating before me and said it was not that good. I'm looking at her like she's crazy as I put mayo and mustard on my Sammy. I take the first bite and notice this is NOT the flavor that I had before. Added a little salt and pepper thinking that will help. NOPE! Each bite was tough and loaded with gristle or inedible fat or something that I couldn't separate with my teeth. I'm pulling pieces apart and having to eat around the tough meat. I took the sandwich up to the register and asked them if they changed the cut of meat they use. They said no, it's always been either rib eye or NY. Every single one of the many I'd had before were the same. This one was different. Even looked different, as if it had been run through a machine in an attempt to tenderize it. Didn't work! You could see through some parts kind of like the way a knitted scarf would look If you stretched it out and could see the holes in it. Anyway, the guy said, "You must have got a tough cut" or "bad cut". I can't remember exactly the wording. But then he just shrugged me off. No offer to fix the problem. I was hungry, I hadn't had breakfast, and it was obvious the guy didnt care, so I just went back to my table and ate the rest of the bread and fixings while gnawing off any edible meat from my horrible steak. $26 for a sandwich and fries. Not willing to spend that much and hope I get a good cut of meat. I'm done.

We ordered a family pack with two meats (BBQ ribs and beef brisket) from this location yesterday for lunch to host some guests and I'm extremely disappointed. I had ordered the same meal from another location before, and it was fantastic, but this time was a completely different story. The beef brisket was incredibly dry and tasted old, like it had been left over from the previous day. Despite specifically noting in my order not to overcook it, the brisket still turned out poorly. None of my guests enjoyed it, which was embarrassing since I was counting on it to be the highlight of our meal. The BBQ ribs were passable, but they didn't make up for how bad the brisket was. Overall, this experience was a big letdown, and I won't be ordering from this location again. If you're looking for quality brisket, I'd recommend trying another branch or restaurant entirely. read more

I hate leaving negative reviews because I have previously managed a business that received a lot of business due to our Yelp reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others of this location. I ordered two, two meat plates. The meat was dry to the point that my wife would not eat it. I got to my sides and the macaroni and cheese tasted like a campfire. It was scooped out of a pot on the stove that had charred residue all over the edges. It was inedible. I will be seeing if my dogs will eat it soon so that it doesn't go to waste. The only reason for 2 stars is that the manager, possibly owner, provided great customer service and even offered to help carry my food to my car. I would strongly recommend better product quality control if you hope to keep your customers and attract new ones. read more

I live/work near by and I enjoy Dickey's, but lately it's been ... a little slow (to put it in nice terms). The last time I went, I arrived when there weren't too many people (one or two in front of me), yet it took forever to get my to go order. I ordered the three meat plate, my sides were served and I had fully paid, before the kid had even started making my plate. Now, like I said, I do enjoy Dickey's, so one slow day wouldn't get to me, if this same kid hadn't messed up my order before. I ordered a sandwich WITHOUT CHEESE, I can not have dairy, and I swear when I got to my office there was EXTRA on there. Honestly I may not be going back for a while, hopefully this kid will have it figured out by then. read more

stopped by last Friday and they were out of a lot of items by 6pm? For just opening shouldn't you be a little better prepared for people to come in? So what they did have was tri-tip so I got that with two sides and bread for $30. When I got home the entire tri-tip was burnt and dried out, less than a third of it was actually edible. The baked beans and mac n cheese were cold. What a waste of money. So if your packed and running out of items how does the tri-tip become so overcooked...makes no sense. Been wanting to try Dickies for quite awhile, since they opened one up by my work, just today realized there is one in Whittier got excited and FINALLY tried it and was not disapointed at all. The food was GREAT and so were the fixins cole slaw, mac&cheese and the yummy baked potato caserole. My friend and I shared the Rib plate and a 3 meat plate and we both left FULL and with lunch packed for the next day. The staff is AWESOME! The brisket was perfect and their macN cheese was great. My favorite was the free ice cream. And the crushed ice. And it's also very clean and well put together there. First time we went, shortly after they opened it was really good, after that not so much. Now it's hit or miss if you get meat or just fat and gristle. I guess the owner doesn't let employees decide to trim meat, just give the customer whatever comes out of the wrapper. The prices are a little high for what you get, you are better off just going to a sit down restaurant. read more
