The idea behind this place is very cool- a cafeteria style line up where you go down past food options and add food to your bowl. I got a market bowl with a quinoa base, a peach kale salad, tofu and Mac and cheese. With the exception of the tofu, which was dry and flavorless, all of my food was good, but honestly not worth raving about. I got an iced matcha latte with my order-- it looked great topped with foam and a mint leave, but really didn't have much matcha flavor. Overall, nothing was particularly bad about my experience. My boyfriend LOVED his bowl of rice, chicken, broccoli and seasonal vegetables. But, I felt like my meal wasn't quite worth $16. Given, this place is new, and with the hype it's getting I can only assume it will get better. I think I would go try it again as it comes into its own. read more

This place consistently serves up great food. I've been here many times and they have a pretty extensive menu, with their sides changing year round (pertaining to whats in season) which is great because it shows the importance of fresh ingredients in their food! This is a good fast-casual place where you can pick and choose what you want in your bowl kind of like chipotle style. I say "Fast" in fast-casual lightly because if you come here during a lunch rush around noon, the line goes out to the street, so be cautious! I usually order a bowl with brown rice and add their kale & pesto carrots and a rotating side (whichever sounds good...but they're all good so) and then I add salmon as my protein. They have really good sauces (the pesto pairs amazingly with the salmon) and depending on how i'm feeling, i'll probably add some avocado on there as well. It all tastes amazing and super fresh which i absolutely love! The serving is a bit big for me, so I like to eat half and save the rest for my next meal. The interior of this place is cute, marble, insta-worthy, the whole 9 yards. The service is friendly, the food is good and the location is great, so what are you waiting for, lets dig in!! read more

This is the perfect place for a quick lunch where you pick a grain, protein, and two sides. All the sides are generally healthy except for the mac and cheese so you probably want to skip that. Come here when you want a quick meal but are trying to be slightly healthier! Both combinations that we had were good (pictures attached) but you honestly can't go wrong with anything as it's on you to get creative with what you like. I am still trying to keep to my new year's resolution of losing some weight... but failing (what can I say, too much great food). I am glad to say I got a filling meal, that was guilt free! Be aware, they are a little pricey, but since their food is sourced from local farms, their costs are a little higher. Can't remember exactly what I had at this point, only that is was an assortment of veggies and some of their grilled chicken. The dressing I chose was Garlic Tofu Aioli. The veggies were fresh and crisp. Even though they were served out of a pan, it was as if they were sliced jut for me. While this, of course, this isn't the case, in the kitchen they are always cooking something. As such, your food spends less time under a lamp. The quality of the chicken was really surprising. While it was flame broiled (or grilled like this) it was not too overcooked. It would not have hurt to have it be just a tiny bit more tender. However, I do realize this can be challenging considering how it is cooked. My only other critique is that I would have liked just a touch more seasoning... still, better to add some S&P than have it over-seasoned. Now, the moment you have all been patiently waiting for: the service. When I entered, I was greeted with a cheery welcome, and the people serving me did not display an "I don't really want to be here" attitude. But here's what I truly remember: I wanted to get this mint lemonade, but they were out. Instead, I decided to get some of the boxed water ($2.49). After I paid, I rallied they have tap water available for free. I thought I was out of luck but asked anyway. Oh my! What a great find this was! My friend and I were headed to visit the Boston Public Library and I did a quick Yelp search for something healthy (we had previously been eating too much good fatty food in Boston). This place looked promising and we were definitely not disappointed. The restaurant is very modern chic with outdoor and indoor seating. They have different menu items that you build your own meal -- cafeteria style. Everything seriously looked so good that I could have sampled everything they had if that was an option. Sadly, it wasn't an option so I made my choice: Base - toasted quinoa with preserved lemon, Market Sides - grilled summer peaches and roasted summer kale, Mains - grilled organic tofu, and got a side of garlic aioli sauce and sriracha sauce. The quinoa was so flavor and refreshing with the little pieces of lemon in there. I expected the peaches to be like soft canned peaches but they were really sweet crunchy peaches (yum!!). The kale was perfect and not overly seasoned/salty. The tofu was grilled with garlic and red onions and so delicious. I really, really loved their garlic aioli and just put it on everything, and you can never go wrong with sriracha. My friend got the brown rice with grilled summer peaches and bumble bee tomatoes and the charred chicken thighs. The brown rice was very good and not at all dry. The tomatoes were soo sweet. My friend got lucky and had a good server who gave her A LOT of chicken. More chicken than rice! The chicken was juicy. This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch when I'm in our Boston office for work during the week. It's conveniently located for walking or taking the T, and the food is consistently well prepared and seasoned. I'm not a huge carrots fan, but I always get the carrots in my bowl! And the Tarragon Mustard sauce is delish!! They have plenty of options for gluten-free and vegan diets, and even when they're busy, they are efficient (the line moves pretty quick). There may not always be an open table to sit and stay if you go during peak lunchtime, but if you can stay, let them know and they will serve you in regular dishes and silverware. Hm. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with this place. It's great in that the food is healthy, but unlike Sweetgreen it is filling. I love the variety of choices and everything looks visually, mouth-wateringly appealing. And everything tastes good up until the second bite, when you realize everything-- whether they be the meatballs, the farm salad, the cauliflower, the Mac and cheese, the Brussels sprouts, etc, are incredibly salty. In the case of the Brussels, they're so overmarinated that you lose the classic caramelization flavor that accompanies roasted sprouts. I find myself having to take big chugs of water in between bites just to make my way through the meal. I can't tell if this is a problem that just this location in specific has, or it's a problem rooted in the recipe. I'm not sure if I love the concept enough to keep coming back, but perhaps I will give a go to other locations. read more

This is my absolute favorite casual lunch spot in Boston. You "build your own bowl" by going through an assembly line of healthy, colorful, fresh, and tasty ingredients; then pay, before finding seating. During peak hours, there has always been a line (but it moves relatively quickly). Also, depending on the time of day, they may not have all the options. Every time I've been, I've had to substitute 1 ingredient that I had planned in advance to order because they ran out or had not made for the day. I've tried their egg sandwich and it was pretty unremarkable -- just go with a MARKET BOWL, you won't regret it! I love all their proteins -- if I had to pick, the charred chicken thighs would be my favorite. With that being said I haven't found one (or any side for that matter) that I've been dissatisfied with AND have ordered a bowl meat-free and was super satisfied. My favorite heavier side is their creamy and wonderful mac and cheese. All in all, you really can't go wrong here -- I've been several times, tried a variety of additions, and I always leave full and happy. I've been to so many of these locations in New York City, but I loved the layout of this location in Boston. I like how they pin the menu right at the start of the line, so you can grab one and look off of that. I got a base of brown rice, sides of mac & cheese and sweet potatoes, protein of chicken thigh, and the garlic and hot sauce. The man behind the counter was super helpful as well. When I couldn't decide which sauces to get, he gave his own input and told me that I'd love it. And he was definitely right. My friend got the salad with meatballs. She said that they definitely did not pair well together, but each individually were really good. They keep the tables nice and clean at all times, and have an option for outdoor seating. I love that they serve "real" meals (for me that means cooked food instead of cold salad and toppings) with a fast food model and very reasonable pricing. I've ordered online twice now from Dig Inn. The online ordering system is nicely designed which let you choose the time and location that you want to pick up and shows picture of each dishes offered on the menu. I tried the soup with potato noodles and root veggies the first time- the soup was very well seasoned, but I though the veggies were a bit undercooked. The second time I went with the Market Bowl, which let you pick one protein (I went with the meatballs), one base (brown rice) and two sides (roasted kale and mac&cheese). The meatballs were served with a spicy tomato and apricot chutney, which was unique and delicious. The Roasted kale with onion and garlic was also pretty tasty especially considering I'm never a fan of kale. The portion was generous and I ended up having some left overs as a snack for the next day. Seems that they change the sides seasonally, so I will be trying some other options soon! read more
