Dim Sum World was "OKAY" in a world where OK * * * is "good enough" to still recommend and come back. There wasn't anything remarkable, but at the same time there wasn't anything negative either. It was "good enough" and doable as a place to eat. Parking was a tad of an issue at the complex. The service was friendly. I'd recommend it to friends and others if in the area, but it's not quite "destination dining" for me, 'tho I'd come back if others wanted to dine here. read more

We almost got fooled by the 3 stars on Yelp and hesitated to give this place a try, but we're glad we did. Everything we ordered was good with no disappointment at all. 1. Juicy Pork Dumplings $9.99 (8 pcs) REALLY GOOD PRICE!!!! 2. Beef Skewers $9.99 (4 pcs) 3. Beef Noodle Soup (add chili oil to make it even better) $13.99 4. Sticky Rice Pork $4/ea The price is really affordable compared to the quality they served. The only thing was the place is small, only 18 seats total. They don't really speak English nor care about the service, but I don't care about it at all as long as the food is good and they have all the sauces on the table. Definitely will be back when I'm around the area. When we were there, there was no one else. It was Thursday around 2pm. Please give this place a try so they can stay in business! read more

First time coming here and I should've took a picture beforehand, but I was so hungry! This place is a 10/10 the food is amazing ordered the xiao long bao "soup dumplings" pork and chicken so juicy and flavorful. A friend recommended this small hole-in-the-wall dumpling spot, and we were excited to try it, especially after seeing the colorful dumplings on the menu. When we arrived, the place was completely empty except for the owner and staff having their lunch break, which made the visit feel a bit unusual. Unfortunately, we must have come at the wrong time because several items we wanted to order -- including the rainbow dumplings -- were unavailable. We were disappointed but ordered a few substitutes and decided to get takeout. While we were waiting, there was no music playing and the TV was off, so the only sounds were from the staff preparing the food. It was a bit uncomfortable so we were on our phones the whole time. When our food was ready, they didn't forget to included utensils and vinegar, which we appreciated. Overall, the food was solid. It's small spot you would drive by and never think to give it a try. Very limited seating but they were blasting their air conditioning which is a plus in my books. We were in the area and really wanted to try their Pan Fried Juicy Buns for lunch but they ran out and won't have any until night time for dinner. We ended up trying other items. 39. Pork Pie -surprisingly so good. texture of bun was fluffy but slight chew and a slight crisp exterior. Pork was very juicy and flavorful. 56. Spicy Dan Dan Noodle -sauce was flavorful, not much spice. Noodles were soft but lightly bouncy. 34. Wonton In Chili Oil -wonton skin was way too soft for my preference. Unexpected taste of northern Chinese food - both dishes we ordered came out tasting authentic and delicious: lamb pie (like a friend bun with marinaded lamb) and the Shanghai style Chinese tamale / sticky rice. The food was good so last minute we asked for the frozen beef XLB to go, they did not have it at that moment since the cook said they have to make it fresh, however they do have the pork one on hand. read more

Great food! The Dan Dan noodles- chefs kiss!! I did have to add a little salt, but I think that's a me thing more than anything lol The beef wrap- cute, fresh, filling! The pho- amazing! Loved the broth!! Service was good. Not terrible, but definitely not great. He took our order, got our food out, and left us alone the rest of our time here. Again, not terrible, but would've been nice to be checked on once more. Ambiance- I'd say this is where it lacks. It's SO SO quiet in there. No background music or anything. There's a tv but not on. Even light music just to fill the auditory space. It was so quiet I could hear their speaker in the kitchen, where they were learning English from. Small mom and pop restaurant with limited seating. Interesting selection of some Taiwanese style items and Vietnamese (just pho). My wife and I ordered 3 dishes: * Sticky rice with pork: the rice was moist and flavorful. The pork was tender and the chinese sausage was a tad too tough. Delicious, 5/5 * Beef noodle soup: beef was tender, broth was packed full of flavor and the noodles were perfect. One of the best I've ever had 5/5 * pan fried dumplings: preparation was on-point. Noodle dishes had good flavor, but noodles were mushy/soggy/way over cooked. Dumplings/dim sum had nice size portions but lacked flavor and the texture was not to my liking. Price point felt high, but seems like eating out has gotten too expensive everywhere. Small with a few tables. Staff was friendly. Parking was tough...you might be better off parking in the bottom of the parking structure are ELAC and walking over. read more

It is a small business, limited seating. We came on Thanksgiving so it was pretty empty. Food was delicious and we go to Din Tai Fung frequently for dumplings (for comparison). The cucumber salad was soooo flavorful with garlic! All dumplings were juicy and burst rich in flavor at the bite. Spicy wontons were not spicy, they were almost a sweet/spicy, probably will skip those next time. They carry good selection of sodas, even coke zero. Total for meal was $53 for 2 people. Dan Dan noodles wes's sooooo packed with flavor i could still taste the chili oil n garlic flavor the next morning! Just be sure to mix well before digging into the noodles. If supposed to have numbing sensation i didn't have that. Also Ordered beef noodle soup. The hot brown broth was a bit greasy i just removed it before reheating and adding to my beef noodles. I happened to be in the area so I took the opportunity to check off something in my collections for places to eat. Very small business with plenty of shared parking in a high rise parking structure. Since I was by myself, I chose to sit at the bigger table. I didn't have to wait long for my food which was VERY good, but a little pricey compared to Chinatown. Many dim sum to choose from, but decided to try something new. The chives pocket was VERY good if you like chives with glass noodles. I decided to order my go to dim sum which was the har gow (shrimp). It was good, but the size of the dim sum itself was much smaller compared to the size I can get in Chinatown. As for the hot tea, it tasted the usual way, but I prefer my hot tea to actually be in the little china pot. Would I go back? Sure, if I happen to be in the area, I definitely would not bring my whole family because the ambiance wasn't what we/they would be used to. Customer service was fine. read more

I have been craving Shanghainese food so found this place via Yelp. This is a mom/pop place, not too big of restaurant but they make their dumplings, bao, pastries, and etc. in-house. 1. Cucumbers: Cold dish and it is very good, with lots of garlic and vinegar. A good starter for the hot weather we've been having lately. 2. Sheng-jian-bao/ pan fried buns: Dough is fluffy and thr meat is tasty. 3. Shanghainese tamale/ sticky rice and pork: This is a very authentic Shanghainese food. I love the taste and bought extras (frozen) to take home. 4. Meat pie (aka xian-rou yue-bing in chinese): Usually available during Moon Festival time. Love the crust, especially when out of oven. 5. Fried Shanghainese egg rolls: OMG, so crispy and tasty. Must dit into vinegar to get that extra...yumminess. 6. Shanghainese pork and shepherd's purse wonton: A traditional Shanghainese dish. The soup is simple but paired well with the wonton. Overall, a very nice hole-in-the-wall mom and pop place. It is recommended that you call in advance to make sure the restaurant is opened and it has what you want to eat/order (since much of its dumplings, pastries, buns/baos and etc are made fresh in house). The prices of the food are very reasonable, especially given how expensive everything is nowadays. Lastly, if you are in a rush, call in advance to order your food. read more

I want to say great things about this restaurant. I want to support these small restaurants and I was very excited that they had XLB and stewed beef noodles. The owners were nice and it's a very homey kind of restaurant right next to ELAC. I really wanted the food to wow me. Maybe my expectations was too high. The food it's freshly prepared but I took off one star because the taste wasn't quite up there. Maybe I'm comparing their taste with other northern Chinese restaurant. But it's still a nice little place to hang if you have no place to grab some noodles, xiao long bao or some dumplings. read more

Food (5/5): A GEM!!!! The weekends where I frequent doesn't have too much good Asian food around until I stumbled upon Dim Sum World! Service (4/5): Come when you're not hungry just yet because you will be waiting for some time to get your food. We waited at least 25-30 minutes to receive our food and while the food didn't disappoint, I should have ordered more food as well since the time to receive every dish was far apart. By the time I got the check, lowkey I was hungry still but I didn't want to ask to order more food since the time was already so close to closing Price (5/5): Other dim sums just don't compare! Ambiance (4/5): A little hole in the wall. Get comfy because you'll be sitting pretty close to other guests with only 5 tables. Any party bigger than four, I'd recommend takeout. read more

Dim Sum World seriously delivers on the classics -- fresh, flavorful, and full of variety. From the moment we were seated, carts rolled by with all the staples: har gow, siu mai, char siu bao, and those crispy shrimp balls that disappeared off our table way too fast. Everything we tried was hot and well-made, especially the turnip cakes -- golden on the outside and tender inside with just the right hint of spice. Good, local dim sum. The business occupies a humble space with a few tables to enjoy a quick dine-in meal. The chives and pork dumplings are juicy and tasty. I also enjoyed the beef roll and the soft pork bun. They were friendly and brought the food right out to my table. Eat there or enjoy on the run like I did. Not great. I want to love this place since they have a varied menu and I love dumplings and noodles. Ambiance is definitely lacking. Definitely not a place where you and your friends can chill. Food is pricey for what they offer. Pho broth is salty without any nuance. They skimp on meat in their beef noodle soup. You are better off going elsewhere for the same type of food. read more

I highly recommend the pan fried juicy buns omg, they were absolutely delicious. The service was wonderful. A small mom and pop restaurant that felt nice and welcoming. Dim Sum World is an authentic amazing, dim sum place that is not only more affordable but BETTER than Din Tai Fung! Despite negative reviews almost swaying my family away from this awesome restaurant. Everything at Dim Sum World is homemade and I am elated that I got to try many of their dumpling and bao dishes such as the Juice pork dumplings, everything dumplings (Not on the menu, have to specially ask and order), salted egg custard bun, Sticky rice and Pork siu mai, Pan Fried Juicy Bun, Chives Pork Dumplings, Sticky Rice and Pork, and Sticky Rice and Red Bean! First off, their juicy pork dumplings have the perfect thickness of skin, I could drop the dumplings from a small height and it would still keep it's warm, umami, savory, soup inside, every dumpling was wrapped with consideration. For the Everything Dumplings, it would include the juicy pork, mala pork, squid ink, chicken, vegetable, and beef dumplings. The mala pork dumplings had a slight spiciness and extra savoriness while including all the qualities of the juicy pork dumplings. The squid ink dumpling has a first hit taste of a steamed mushroom (definitely truffle) and the squid ink skin added a umaminess and savoriness of the ocean. The chicken dumpling was alright, I feel like you would be better off with the juicy pork dumplings as it is just that but with chicken meat instead (Good if you prefer chicken!) Beef dumplings... well... because I cannot eat beef here is a message from my dad "normal and tasty" . Last but actually first (in the dumpling ranking) The vegetable dumpling! It surprised me the most, having a filling of Shiitake mushroom, cabbage and chives? Whatever it was, enveloped in a matcha tasting skin it produced a complex mushroom umami, almost like the pork dumplings only reminding you that it was flavor solely from vegetables with a gentle leafy after taste. The vegetable dumplings was definitely the most unique and innovative dumplings I tried in those everything dumplings! The salted egg custard bun was cute! It was served sprinkled with coconut flakes and masquerading as a rabbit bao, this rabbit bao had delicious creamy insides, its 流沙 (Salted egg custard) was Hong Kong standard! The instant hit of sweet salted egg yolk and having a smooth yet slightest grain texture, this is the best salted egg yolk I have ever ate, the bun to filling ratio could be improved (a bit doughy) but definitely does not take away the baos greatness. The sticky rice pork siu mai is like if a Sticky Rice and Pork (粽子) planted a sapling, while Juicy Pork Dumpling watered the sapling and Siu Mai provided it with a blanket, because those are the exact qualities those components provided, first a base using savory sticky rice, then a reservoir of warm, umami, oleogus soup, and a thin chewy coat of the Siu Mai, really interesting dim sum dish. The sticky rice and Pork reminded me of my grandma's cooking, it has a decently strong taste of dark soy sauce and fatty pork belly inside. The red bean sticky rice was not too sweet, sticky, and like a good dessert, I would just say that the red bean was pretty dry (If it can be incapsulated in the glutinous rice I think the red bean will have a much more moist and smooth texture) And lastly! The chives pork dumplings were really light, acting more like a pallet starter getting you ready for all the other delicious dim sum (Basically it was just alright, juicy but not as much taste). I apologize for this EXTREMELY detailed review but I was really passionate about this one as I really disliked the fact that I almost was not able to enjoy this food due to negative reviews, every restaurant in the world has negative reviews even the best ones so I believe I should always write the best and most positive reviews in order to combat that, some negative reviews are valid, but I know someone else will write that for me. ANYWAYS it was really nice talking to the Auntie that owned this restaurant as she told us many stories of how everything started (Good Chinese practice as well) definitely give Dim Sum World a try and thank you for reading until now! read more

This little hole in the wall hit the spot! I was feeling low key/sweat pants/wanting a warm soup like pho but wanted something else besides spring rolls to pair with it. Here, I was able to have the perfect serving of pho, with wontons in chili oil, rice and red bean wrapped in banana leaf, and pork and crab xlb! Everything was so delicious. Thoughtfully packaged. This little place is so delicious! The food was freshly made and so incredibly flavorful and comforting. The place is small but cozy and you can tell that the people working there put love into the food. I very much recommend this place if you're looking for sum (haha) yummy dim sum! Limited seating but was lucky enough to get sat immediately with my party of 5. We tried about 8 or 9 dishes and they were all really good. Everyone's favorite was the beef wraps, I'd definitely say that is the dish to get. Our server who seems to also do a lot of the cooking was super sweet and very attentive. Great place read more

I was craving dimsum so I decided to try this place out. Ordered the Dandan noodles and the chicken dumplings, the serving size was pretty generous. The spicy Dandan noodles was flavorful and not overly spicy. The soup dumplings was moist. Just little pricey if you are eating alone but great value if you were sharing with others read more

Pictures are provided as well through the menu which is a nice plus. Food came out pretty fast, and since we were a 2 table party, each table took turns getting their dishes first. Seafood here is a great option, portions are huge for most dishes, making it perfect to share. My favorite among the dishes is certainly the Walnut Shrimp. It's a classic amongst plenty of Chinese restaurants and Lunasia is up there when it comes to quality. i had a pretty bad experience here today (Monday, May 25, 2026 around 9:30-10:30am). i've been…read morecoming here for a few years and i really appreciate how affordable it is, plus the food quality and taste are consistently good. however, i had a bad interaction with one of the managers today (very tall, glasses, white button up, middle-aged male). our table of 8 had been trying to get har gow and siu mai, but the cart with those dishes skipped our table twice and i couldn't get the worker's attention from across the room. when i noticed the manager standing nearby, i politely asked him in Cantonese if he could let the cart lady know to stop by our table (i even pointed out which worker had the dishes we were looking for). his response was rude and snarky. he told me that wasn't his responsibility and that i needed to ask the cart workers myself because if he helped with that, then there wouldn't be anyone to do his job. i understand that managers who handle the register (and other miscellaneous tasks like tea service and cleaning empty plates) typically don't serve dim sum directly, but i wasn't asking him to personally bring the dishes over, just to help notify the cart worker. what disappointed me most was the attitude, especially since the restaurant wasn't very busy on a Monday morning. situations like this are pretty common with traditional cart-style dim sum in LA since restaurants here usually don't have as many carts circulating as places in HK. at other SGV dim sum spots with traditional cart service (such as Five Star Seafood), i've had managers either help grab the dishes directly if they have time or quickly notify the worker that a specific table is waiting for certain items. there were many ways this manager could have handled the situation, but the way he responded was definitely not the correct one. i still think the food here is good and affordable, but that interaction definitely left a bad impression. not sure if this manager was aware that several people at my table also understand Cantonese and heard the entire exchange.
