We almost got fooled by the 3 stars on Yelp and hesitated to give this place a try, but we're glad we did. Everything we ordered was good with no disappointment at all. 1. Juicy Pork Dumplings $9.99 (8 pcs) REALLY GOOD PRICE!!!! 2. Beef Skewers $9.99 (4 pcs) 3. Beef Noodle Soup (add chili oil to make it even better) $13.99 4. Sticky Rice Pork $4/ea The price is really affordable compared to the quality they served. The only thing was the place is small, only 18 seats total. They don't really speak English nor care about the service, but I don't care about it at all as long as the food is good and they have all the sauces on the table. Definitely will be back when I'm around the area. When we were there, there was no one else. It was Thursday around 2pm. Please give this place a try so they can stay in business!

First time coming here and I should've took a picture beforehand, but I was so hungry! This place is a 10/10 the food is amazing ordered the xiao long bao "soup dumplings" pork and chicken so juicy and flavorful. The Shrimp chowmein had a nice kick, and the cucumber salad was fresh and tasty. This is a nice hole in the wall I wish I knew about sooner. (Din thai fung who) Staff is nice and friendly. If you're in the area definitely recommend(:

A friend recommended this small hole-in-the-wall dumpling spot, and we were excited to try it, especially after seeing the colorful dumplings on the menu. When we arrived, the place was completely empty except for the owner and staff having their lunch break, which made the visit feel a bit unusual. Unfortunately, we must have come at the wrong time because several items we wanted to order -- including the rainbow dumplings -- were unavailable. We were disappointed but ordered a few substitutes and decided to get takeout. While we were waiting, there was no music playing and the TV was off, so the only sounds were from the staff preparing the food. It was a bit uncomfortable so we were on our phones the whole time. When our food was ready, they didn't forget to included utensils and vinegar, which we appreciated. Overall, the food was solid. One dish my husband ordered was especially tasty and paired really well with the vinegar. We'd be willing to give this place another try and come back for the items we missed.

The guys love #2 chicken dumplings and the lamb baos. We've been back 3xs this month just for those to pickup on the way home.

I been here several times; and the dumplings are really good. Brought my mom here, she also enjoyed the dumplings. The service is good, the ambiance is casual. It's a small little place but good. Juice chicken dumplings and Cartoon Buns with red sweet beans.

It's small spot you would drive by and never think to give it a try. Very limited seating but they were blasting their air conditioning which is a plus in my books. We were in the area and really wanted to try their Pan Fried Juicy Buns for lunch but they ran out and won't have any until night time for dinner. We ended up trying other items. 39. Pork Pie -surprisingly so good. texture of bun was fluffy but slight chew and a slight crisp exterior. Pork was very juicy and flavorful. 56. Spicy Dan Dan Noodle -sauce was flavorful, not much spice. Noodles were soft but lightly bouncy. 34. Wonton In Chili Oil -wonton skin was way too soft for my preference. Might not reorder this next time I visit.

Food was amazing and the service was great. Loved this little hole in the wall. Thank you for the great food.

Ambiance: it's a corner spot located in a small plaza, there's street parking behind the establishment and a large public parking garage shared with another nearby plaza Service: very attentive and friendly, placed the order and served food fairly quickly Food: their menu serves the comfort food of bun, dumplings, and noodles Pan Fried Juicy Bun - **** very hot and juicy inside, recommend Pork Pastry - *** sweet pork fillings Price: moderate portions and affordable prices, about $20 per person

Unexpected taste of northern Chinese food - both dishes we ordered came out tasting authentic and delicious: lamb pie (like a friend bun with marinaded lamb) and the Shanghai style Chinese tamale / sticky rice. The food was good so last minute we asked for the frozen beef XLB to go, they did not have it at that moment since the cook said they have to make it fresh, however they do have the pork one on hand.

One of the BEST Dim Sum I've had! I didn't have to wait long. The Spicy ones one are my favorite! You can even buy frozen ones and they give you directions on how to cook them! ‍

I got the spicy chicken wontons and the pork soup dumplings and a Thai tea!

The soup dumplings were honestly the best I've ever had, soooo good and extremely juicy! The Thai tea was good but average. Also the crunchy chili oil they had was really really good. Their wontons were definitely good but not great, I'd probably try something else next time. I'll def be coming back.

It is a small business, limited seating. We came on Thanksgiving so it was pretty empty. Food was delicious and we go to Din Tai Fung frequently for dumplings (for comparison). The cucumber salad was soooo flavorful with garlic! All dumplings were juicy and burst rich in flavor at the bite. Spicy wontons were not spicy, they were almost a sweet/spicy, probably will skip those next time. They carry good selection of sodas, even coke zero. Total for meal was $53 for 2 people. I will be adding this place for when I am craving dumplings!

    Dan Dan Noodles to go
    Alice Q.

Dan Dan noodles wes's sooooo packed with flavor i could still taste the chili oil n garlic flavor the next morning! Just be sure to mix well before digging into the noodles. If supposed to have numbing sensation i didn't have that. Also Ordered beef noodle soup. The hot brown broth was a bit greasy i just removed it before reheating and adding to my beef noodles. Ask for side chili oil. Address says Atlantic but it's actually off Floral across from McDonald's. Great value nice mom & pop small shop.

Ask the Community - Dim Sum World

Can I order (via phone, I guess) in advance for pick up?

Yes, you can definitely call and order. I actually prefer doing that because I don't have to spend time looking for parking. I order, I'm in and out.

    Do they have parking?

They are located in a busy shopping center. Parking is available depending on the time and day you get there. Or I should really say that parking is available it can be a little wait finding someone who's leaving a spot.

    Is it cash only?

    No. They take cards.

Is this place still open? I came by today at 8:45am and it's closed. I Also tried calling the number but it says the number is not in service.

Yes it's open. But they don't open early as advertised. Not sure what time they open, Ive always gone in the afternoon/night.

Do they use MSG? Or too much of it?

MSG sickness or sensitivity is a myth. Look it up. The myth was spread by a fake report in the 20s to sabotage Chinese businesses. https://blog.csiro.au/hungry-for-the-truth-weve-busted-the-top-5-food-myths/

You can call in to request a reservation for large parties, if not, you can join the Yelp waitlist by the front lobby area. Parking - free in a sizeable indoor parking garage to the left of the restaurant. When full, there's also street parking. Service here is pretty standard when it comes to your typical Chinese restaurant. You'll have staff designated to your area and they're pretty quick with refilling teapots and any requests. As for ordering, there's a QR code to browse the menu and order. Chinese and English are available so there shouldn't be any problems. Pictures are provided as well through the menu which is a nice plus. Food came out pretty fast, and since we were a 2 table party, each table took turns getting their dishes first. Seafood here is a great option, portions are huge for most dishes, making it perfect to share. My favorite among the dishes is certainly the Walnut Shrimp. It's a classic amongst plenty of Chinese restaurants and Lunasia is up there when it comes to quality. Overall, a decent experience, been here plenty of times for dimsum and it's always quick and quality food. Dinner was decent but nothing too over the top. It's almost always busy so plan accordingly.

This was next to. Table of 10 where each individual was just about shouting to each other as their normal tone. I did not like the ordering process which is a change from regilar dimsum places where people walk around with carts of good stuff. You have to scan a QR code to get to the menu so you don't really see what you're getting other that the picture you see on your phone. This place by the way is way pricier than actually better dimsum restaurants. So the food came out.. Pork spare ribs w/ blackbean sauce - the meat was chewy, almost tough to eat, and with a generous hint of MSG. Taro with chinese sausage - bland taro base, stale topping of supposed to be ground chinese sausage. Chicken feet - overcooked Water spinach - pale green, unfresh taste, two bites and I had yo give it up. Salt and pepper pork chop - this is ordinary at best compared to places in Monterey Park and Rowland and Hacienda Heights. Beef Chow fun - the only thing we mostly ate. Shrimp and pork siumai - I was so disappointed I list my appetite by this time. Needless to say, we felt like we wasted our $100 plus tax and tip..$120.00 + , for two prople for dimsum. We left the taro and water spinach and took home more than we ate because maybe I can tweak the left overs at home. Have I talked about the service yet? I will not because it was almost non- existent. I get it's Sunday lunch, but really? We never got the water we asked for but the oolong tea was decent. Again, very disappointing experience. I would have taken bad service with good food but bad service and bad food? One star and not a damn little spark more. Get in the game Lunasia in Alhambra!

The crust was super flaky, and custard was velvety smooth and not too sweet. We were so tempted to get seconds but we were too full. -The bean curd wrapped with shrimp and pork was on point as well. -The chicken feet didn't really meet expectations. Normally I like it, but I wasn't impressed by this one. -the ham sui gok was good but I feel like it could've used more filling -fried rice had big juicy shrimp but rice was on the saltier side -Inconsistent crystal wrapper textures across all the different crystal skin dumplings. Having grown up with NYC and SF dim sum, NBC is one of the few Los Angeles area places that has the selection and flavors of my childhood. Some favorites were the har gow, taro puffs, and tripe. We got the roast duck but it wasn't very meaty or flavorful. We got the congee which was ok, but lacked any definite personality. The chewy fried dumplings were more dough than filling. The siu mai and veggie dumplings were both solid. I didn't try the bitter melon or turnip cakes because I don't like the taste of either, but I was happy to see them available. We got a claypot rice dish with spare ribs and Chinese sausage which was good but the rice was not crispy on the bottom. Perfect family dim sum experience for us…read more We took out my parents and in-laws for dim sum: my parents' very first time ever. We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. Once we were seated, my parents were immediately impressed with the decor: elegant and cultural without feeling overly modern or cold. And can we talk about the tea kettles? They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try

Hubby wanted to get dim sum for new year and luckily we live close to Lunasia. Like most locations,…read morethe food is pretty consistent and the servers are pretty attentive. This location is pretty spacious and even has a second floor for dining. Though we were seated inside, a lot of people were coming in and out for take out. They have a QR code to scan the menu and send your order to the kitchen. Unfortunately, they forgot our order of shumai. We had already finished eating before it even came. The waitress was kind but apparently had to bring the receipt back because the staff was claiming we already received it.

Everything is ordered by piece, so you can mix and match exactly what you want by filling out the form. Came by on a Saturday craving a few things and ordered siu mai, har gow, BBQ pork buns, ham sui gok, and sesame balls. Once you place your order, everything comes out pretty fast. Overall the items are decent and definitely hit the craving. The BBQ pork bun was a little dry for me, but I liked the sesame balls and ham sui gok, nice and crispy on the outside with a chewy texture. Solid spot if you're in a rush or just want a quick dim sum fix.

I have been going to this place to satisfy my dim sum cravings ever since it used to be "Fong's Dim…read moreSum" back in the 1980's. Yes, that's how long this place has survived & for good reason. They were the first to serve fresh & tasty dim sum to-go for a reasonable price at good value due to their big portion sizes. However, my son & I, went there recently & ordered the usual Siu Mai, Baked BBQ Bun & Steamed BBQ bun. We usually call in our orders in advance to avoid the long wait outside but this time things seem off. Firstly, the lady cannot understand our order & we were put on hold while there seem to be a banter between her & a gentlemen inside for sometime. Secondly, when we finally got there & picked up the order, one of the items given was wrong. Instead of Char Siu Bao, we had Har Gow. So, we waited for another 15 minutes more to get the correct item. When we got home & opened the bags, the Siu Mai had gotten smaller & the worst part is that one of the Baked BBQ Bun had a cockroach pressed on the outside layer of the bun (see picture). I tried to contact the owner first to let them know so it can be corrected before posting it here but no one called. I know that this can affect their "safety food rating" & thus their sales. But if there was indeed a change in management or ownership, they need to fix the sizing portion & bug problem so they could live up to the history & expectations of their loyal clientele.
