If you love good Mediterranean food then Dimassi's is a must try. This was my first time at this location and I personally liked it more than the one in Richardson. It's spacious, clean and welcoming inside. They offer more variety of food in the buffet than the other location. I'm usually not big on buffets since the quality is lacking compared to the quantity however this wasn't true for Dimassi's in Plano. Everything I tried was up to par in taste and quality. I wish I could eat more lol but I get full from looking at too much food! The owner was super sweet and we had a nice conversation with him. I would like to go back and try some of the other things in the buffet. I love that they serve freshly made pita bread and tea! Just needed some fresh mint to make my tea experience even better :) Also it would be nice if they had few more options for kids other than pizza. I've been anxiously awaiting the opening of this place for a while. It's at the site of the former Cedars buffet, which was quite good, so I was hoping for a good second act. So far, I've got my wish. I came here on a Wednesday at lunch with three co-workers, and we began walking the fairly expansive buffet. The entire affair, line, serving platters, dishes, tables, floor - were all spotlessly clean. There's a wide variety of classic Mediterranean buffet staples, including fried cauliflower, gyro meat, hummus, baba ganousche etc. I was particularly impressed with the very petite pita bread, allowing me to make a small gyro without wasting food or overstuffing myself. I didn't sample the salads, but my fellow diners said they were good. One slight dent in the overall meal was the red hot sauce - it was thin and needed a bit more flavor, but the heat provided was good. There were a couple of fish dishes (fried and baked), and while they were good, they did have a slight bit of "fishy" to them. Finally, for dessert, one can choose from rice pudding, baklava, or several cake options, which are kind of like pound cakes. I only sampled a couple of the cakes, and they were fantastic. And to add to the awesome, it's only $11.99 including soft drink. I hope they will maintain the quality and variety; this is a really good buffet in a good location. read more

Great buffet alternative to the usual Chinese/sushi buffets. I didn't know this buffet even existed in Plano, so it was fun to take my parents and have them try a bunch of Mediterranean dishes. Each dish was surprisingly very good. For the most part, dishes were the quality you'd expect to see at a restaurant serving the dish a la carte. It's not some passable option that is only fit for a buffet line. For $13 a person (weekday lunch), they are super generous with the meat options. This may be my new go to. I was unable to stay for the buffet, so got some things to go, and just an enormous amount of food, good food. I saw the manager over by the buffer cleaning up, making sure everything was in order, as well as a team constantly making sure all the kebabs, hummus, vegetables, desserts, everything was fresh and available for the customer. I just love this place because the food is so flavorful, filling, and healthy. Quantity meets quality! There was such a wide selection of fresh veggies, fruits, and prepared foods! Make sure you request the lamb shank on the weekends. The roasted and grilled meats were flavorful and fall-off-the bone succulent. Soft drinks, tea, coffee, and even desserts are included with the buffet. I usually don't like buffers because of the lack of quality in exchange for quantity, but that's not the case with Dimassi's Plano. The manager was also very nice and welcoming! Was pleasantly surprised! Normally wouldn't even consider a buffet but love Mediterranean food so gave it a shot based on reviews. It was clean a well stocked. We went on a Saturday at 7:30pm so it was busy but not crazy. They have all the usual suspects plus more so we tried a little of everything. I don't know what their actually called but the kabob was amazing. You can see them cooking and everything is fresh. I had read about the coffee being great but they were out. I asked twice and patiently waited to see what it was all about until the guy brought out Folgers I passed and we had a good laugh about it. Don't miss out on dessert! read more

For the 4 of us it was $62 and the food was cold, chicken and rice was dry, and lacking the amazing taste that mediterranean food encompasses. There is a large hot buffet with soup, a salad buffet with fruit, a dessert bar, an area with fresh baked bread and pizza, and a drink bar with coffee. Lamb shanks are also available upon request with the weekend buffet. This location is very similar to the location in Richardson. The seating is cafeteria style with televisions for viewing. The food is good, not overly seasoned or bland. There are many items to choose from so there is something for everyone. The staff is friendly and attentive. My dining experience here was great! Dimassis is a very casual restaurant, and the people who work there werent exactly warm when I went last night. But they got pretty good food. For appetizers they have baba ghanoush, tzatziki, and different hummus. Their pita breads were warm. For the main course, they have beef and chicken kabobs and fish. They even have pizza. For dessert they have baklava etc. We paid $20 for the weekend buffet. This would've been a much more expensive meal at Cafe Izmir. Is this a michelin star restaurant that will blow you away with the food? No. But the food is delicious and it's all you can eat! read more

My second favorite Dimassi location. Food: As I said for the other location, you must try the rice with veggies, chicken kabob, meatballs, gyro, and baklava. I have noticed that the cooks are not as "on it" as the other locations. Sometimes there is a wait on foods you're craving, which is not a big issue but it is something I've noticed. Environment: This restaurant is enormous, there should definitely never be an issue on finding an open spot. It had flavor on it. The kabob were dry and lamb shank didn't have enough flavor in it. The pasta was too soft and over cooked. The coconut cake was the best part of the buffet. First time dining there, went to Allen location. It was nice inside and clean. The food was only okay, not to be mean. I didnt like that the host was sitting around on his phone doing nothing the whole time while stacks of dirty plates were all over on so many tables. One guy from the back finally came out to try and clean up the upwards of ten dirty tables and clear our dishes that built up through our whole dinner. Seemed low rent to be dining surrounded by dirty dishes and zero service. The joint is not cheap, hopefully they figure out that part. read more

I came to this buffet after reading some reviews about the other Plano location that scared me away. I was excited to try yet another Mediterranean buffet after having such a great experience at Sofra Kebab House. I give a one-star review maybe one out of every 50 reviews, which should tell you something. When all was said and done, it was this location that truly scared me away. Let's start by describing the smell. The entire restaurant smelled like old dishrags, you know, when you don't wash your rags for a couple weeks and get that gross mildew cafeteria smell? Because of this, every bite of food kind of tasted like old dish rag. The meatballs, both the chicken and beef, were inedible and had such an off flavor. Just because you may be using authentic Mediterranean seasonings, doesn't mean you can just neglect the ratios. Most of the chicken dishes were bad, again a quality issue. Everything tasted like elementary school cafeteria food. I will say, it wasn't all bad. The falafel was not only good, it was actually great. If the goal is to come in and eat $14 worth of falafel, I say knock yourself out. Be sure to disregard any good review here. I'm not sure if it's nostalgia or what, but as a foodie I could never in good conscience say that Dimassi's is a good restaurant. This was easily the worst meal I've had in Plano. read more

Some of the items on the buffet are good and close to authentic, but many of the items are just too far off from what traditional Middle Eastern food should taste like. Especially the vegetables. All the typical Mediterranean dishes are there you'd expect, and they really shine in that section. Tabouli sits there ready to go down with some hummus. You can go all the typical routes of making a pita wrap or just going straight for meat and potatoes. They even have lamb shanks available upon request. Wrap it up with a nice small selection of desserts including baklava with some coffee, or any drink really since that comes in the price of the buffet...and you have a complete experience that will leave you refreshed if you're me. My son turned 11 and we've only been back to Dimassis once since. It's totally a bummer but there is no way the kiddo is going to eat the adult cost of the buffet, so we now choose to go elsewhere. What a pleasant surprise. My last experience years ago at the coit and Campbell location was not memorable. Average food in a dirty restaurant. But this location is fabulous. The hummus was beyond creamy and almost as good as the one I had in Yaffa. (Dear management please tell us how the hummus tastes so creamy. It's such a simple dish yet so much better than others). So fresh, as was the babaganoush. Really enjoyed the spinach hummus too. The fatoush salad was also very good. Typically don't love tilapia but it was very tasty, all the vegetables extremely fresh. Wonderful experience with fresh food at a very reasonable price. Both my friends are foodies and were very impressed, one commenting that the hummus was as good as one she had at a Turkish place in Saudi The baklava was outrageous loved he taste of the honey.
