It's possible that I missed the point of this place, which might be to serve instagrammable food. I was there after midnight and a drunk guy fell on me. It was 2am Sunday so a lot of people were expectedly loud and drunk. Even recognizing that, a lot of the clientele seemed like pigs to me I ordered a $24 tuna sandwich on toasted rye and iced decaf coffee. After I ordered the most expensive tuna fish sandwich I have ever ordered, I waited the longest time I have ever waited for a tuna fish sandwich. When it arrived it was two very large mounds of tuna, each decorated with a large slice of tomato and melted cheese. The tuna was good quality but the bread had turned to mush underneath it and it wasn't much of a sandwich. I tried to pick up each half but the dissolved bread wouldn't hold together. I started eating it with a fork but there was something about eating undressed tuna with a fork and paying $24 for it that made me feel like I was being pranked. It was two mounds of mooshy food. A Tuna sandwich kinda needs a sturdy bread , both for mouthfeel and for structural stability. It was a real George St. Geegland and Gil Faizon moment. I literally told the manger "I don't know how to eat this. It's too much tuna." They brought me more bread and I made a properly proportioned sandwich out of a third of a the food. The greasy fries messed up my guts. When I got back from the bathroom someone had cleared my other sandwich away. It seemed like a pretty clean place. No vermin, clean bathroom. But other than that: The clientele sucked. The food was bizarre. The Service was really slow. I think they mean well and want to be good. I sense an earnestness behind this place. Maybe I came in at the wrong time and ordered the wrong thing. Dining experiences can leave you feeling all kinds of ways. This one left me feeling like I'd been tricked. read more

New diner opened up in Kips Bay, we needed another one as the usual fare in the neighborhood have been slackin'. Located on the corner of 3rd and 22nd, quite a bit of foot traffic due to the proximity of 23rd. Had no trouble getting a booth for breakfast, they even have the cute little music jukebox you used to see back in the day. There is the usual diner selections on the menu, it's quite pricey but when I got my food it reflected with quality and quantity so that's a plus! I ordered the Italian Omelette exactly what I wanted, they weren't stingy with the Mozzarella. The coffee was great and was only $2.50!!! The decor is super cute and gives retro diner vibes and the fact that it's open 24 seven is a lifesaver you would think in a city that never sleeps there would be a lot of places that are open late, but unfortunately there isn't so this place comes in handy for late night cravings. I made the costly mistake of ordering from Diner24; what I got was a $19.00, dry "smash" burger. To add insult to injury (and this is the worst of it), Diner24 charged $18.00 for a miniscule cup of watery melted syrup that was called a "Warm Brownie Ala Mode." Their version of "Ala Mode," which in my lifetime has always meant served with a scoop of ice cream, was fruit. In photo one a blueberry is placed beside each cup for a size reference. We waited for months for Diner 24 to open. Every day, we would walk by and look for a sign that it would be ready for service. When it finally did open, we were excited to try it with our friends from the neighborhood. Unfortunately, after three tries at the restaurant, and a couple to-go orders, we won't be back again. We went the first week it was open. Two of us had the Cobb salad and one of us had the Smashburger. While the food was OK. each dish came out about 10 minutes apart from each other. The food and the service were lackluster, but we chalked it up to growing pains of a new restaurant. The second time I went was for breakfast with my daughter and her friend. Half the items on the breakfast menu were unavailable and what we did order took 30 minutes to arrive. When it did finally arrive, it was mediocre. The third, and probably last time, we went for breakfast. We had the health omelette and the chocolate croissant French toast. The omelette was mid but the sausage was pretty good. The French toast was an abomination slathered in chocolate sauce and some strange white sugary goop. It would've been edible except for the parchment paper we found cooked into the dish. It would probably be a better dish if they dialed it back a bit. Yet again the service was slow. I had to ask for the check multiple times and then ultimately had to hunt down the waiter to get it. We do like the Smashburger and will probably order it to go again. The fries and onion rings are disappointing. The fried mozzarella is pretty good and when they actually give you the sauce with it, it's pretty tasty. I hope they can work out their service problems with both the front and back of the house because the neighborhood could really use a good diner. read more

Waited around 10-15 minutes for someone to bring water (greatly appreciated), waited another 5-10 minutes then finally had to flag someone down since we sat with nobody even attempting to ask if we were ready to order. Mind you, we were walked by at least 5 times, even as I was writing this review. When i flagged the young lady down, she could barely speak any English (which is no problem, just expected her to get someone that understood English if she had trouble) so I don't think she understood me. I saw her walking around and cleaning up doing her job but still no server has approached us. It's finally almost 10:50am and at this point we don't want anything these people have to offer. We traveled here from out of town and heard good things but after this experience we will NEVER under any circumstances be back and if anybody ever asks me about it I feel obligated to let them know it's a huge mistake. 3-5 servers walking around in that small establishment but can't do the 1 thing you're paid to do? So for one, I have never left a review for a restaurant/diner but THIS place is an absolute hidden gem in the city and should be up there as a go to food spot in New York!!! My friends and I are visiting NYC for comic con and this is the best meal we've had in this city hands down!!! The food portions are absolutely HUGE!!! Good luck finishing everything without needing a to go container. The service is absolutely phenomenal, the moment you sit down you're greeted by a waiter and they hook you up with water, ask if you need any other drinks the give you a minute to look over the menu, then they come over right away and take your order, the food didn't take forever to cook and serve and it was hot and fresh! The ambiance is very chill and the decor has a nice old school atmosphere. The owner was very nice! came to our table to talk to us and ask us how our food was and we had a good conversation. But the food is the worst NYC diner food that unless you never know how solid typical Diner food tastes like. This has the grandiose tourist attraction restaurant name. But the food is far from excellent diner food you can find throughout five boroughs. The salmon had refrigerated taste with improper storage, and past due date that started to cure. The béchamel sauce is a cook who never been trained that doesn't taste anything like it. The sandwich just had a slab of rueben that was poorest cut that lacks the juicy taste. Sloppily tossed making a soggy sour dough. If you know anything about decent American diner food, you would walk away. This place is incredible. I am noticing a lot of the reviews. Speaking of the fact they arrive after 3 AM or 4 AM and it's very loud. Of course it is. It's one of the last few 24 hour diners in the city and this is what the city used to be like before they all closed down before Covid. Terrible. The music was blaring extremely loud. The waiter did turn it down for a while, but then they turned it back up for a birthday song and never turned it back down. We had to scream to each other to be heard! My dinner, grilled cheese and fries were over cooked and just not good at all. The condiments on the table were covered with sticky residue from other customers hands. We had to wrap napkins around them and wash our hands after use-super gross. At $17 each, the milkshakes looked tasty, but only the top scoop was good. The remainder of the shake looked and tasted like plain milk with no thickness or texture. Well, we went at 2am, so there is that. We were looking for food after the kitchen at the bar closed. My husband got a cheeseburger-- probably the second mistake after the first series of mistakes involving several/many cocktails. It was NOT good at all. I came here expecting your standard diner, and was presently surprised to find not only my favorite standard diner options but also a lot of elevated and fun options as well. Diner 24 is a classic looking diner, that has just enough decoration to make it feel themed without being too much. The menu has lots of things that you would expect on a regular diner menu, plus some exciting additions. we were really craving classic diner food so we stuck with a 6 ounce smash burger as well as the grilled cheese that comes with french fries and tomato soup. I absolutely loved the smash burger, and I was so thankful that they gave a full side of pickles with it because I ate almost all of them. The grilled cheese was also really yummy, and the tomato soup was honestly fantastic. They seemed a little bit shortstaffed when we came so we had to flag down our waiter and remind him to bring our drinks, but I think we kind of showed up at a weird time of day and it wasn't unreasonable. The food was pretty much inedible here. I ordered pancakes for my daughter and the syrup they brought out looked like dirt water (see the video I'm uploading here). She didn't eat a bite because the pancakes just look disgusting after putting the syrup on. My steak and eggs was served cold and the steak was chewy and lacked any flavor. Been to the one midtown 2x now. Forst time by accident but we were so impressed with food and cleanliness that we went again this time on Halloween. Of course it was much busier this day but we were seated quickly. Our waiter (Ernesto?) was super attentive and friendly. My nephew had the ciabatta burger and I had the huevos rancheros which I had had before and loved, When I wasn't ecstatic with the way my order was prepared this time the waiter told the mgr (Spiro) and let me order somethign else. Ernesto tried to help me find something else but I'm crazy picky and a vegetarian so i finally setled on a boozy shake. This was totally not what I had expected to order and it was amazing. Came with a friend. Got the burger and french toast. Burger was okay but the french toast was very tasty and would order it again ... that is IF I ever return. Please listen. We're sitting down in a booth in the back when a couple with a small dog comes and sits next to us. I immediately could tell this wasn't a service dog and the older hostess clearly didn't seem bothered about it. This couple allows for their dog to sit on the booth, loudly whine, and drool over the table and because the tables are close in proximity, the dog kept walking on the booth over to me and it overshadowed my whole experience. I don't want to be eating a burger with a dog I do not know less than a foot away from my lap. All of the other patrons around me were also annoyed since the dog was misbehaving, however the server didn't seem to care and actually pet the dog and then proceeded to handle plates of food without washing their hands.
