The interior was simple but had a clean and contemporary vibe. I had the large blueberry milk tea with pudding and 50% sugar. I was going to with no sugar, but I took the staff's recommendation to reach a compromise with flavor and sugar. It was very good! When they first gave me my drink, I was a little confused by the color. It's straight neon yellow which is weird for kumquat tea. But as I drank it, it literally tasted like they used lemon gatorade powder and it was so bad I could only laugh in disbelief. My sister got the guava tea and that at least tasted like guava syrup. This Ding Tea location goes above and beyond with their menu that includes entrees and apps in addition to the classic Ding Tea drinks! I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and spicy tenders, both Nashville style. Gotta say, these were legit -- you'd never guess it came from a boba shop! The chicken was decently spicy for me, and it got even spicier after I reheated it later that night. Each entree came with fries and you have different seasoning options (I got Cajun-style ) Also recommend their garlic butter popcorn chicken! Very flavorful, slightly sweet and addictively buttery. For drinks we ordered the Wintermelon milk tea, yogurt lychee, and kiwi aloe juice. This definitely wasn't on the same level spice-wise, but the sandwich was really delicious all the same. And in relation to other places, where just the sandwich is often $12 or more, this was a great value too, since it came with fries. I was pleasantly surprised when I decided to try a Vietnamese coffee here. Normally I get one of the teas and they are always very good but this time I decided to try a coffee and for some reason did not notice on previous visits they had Is Vietnamese coffee. . Very well done it's strong but very smooth and sweet I would highly recommend it if you go and like that type of coffee. They do have food there as well like popcorn chicken and fries and other various foods but they're main thing are the drinks. It can get busy with a lot of people enjoying their drinks and doing work or homework. [Review #516] 2020 Yelp 100 Challenge (17/100) Ever since I discovered Ding Tea in Gardena, this boba shop has been my fav local go-to shop... what's even better, they opened in Torrance, which is literally my backyard so naturally I've been proudly holding my Duchess title for the past year or so. ;-) Now they opened shop in Lomita, taking over the defunct Yami Teahouse... right near the kids' karate studio so it's an added incentive for them to go to class because they may enjoy a refreshing drink afterwards. =) I was surprised that they were opened regular hours on New Year's Eve so we stopped by en route home from running errands. It seems like a soft opening because the boba-baristas were getting instructions & organized in their workspace, the dining area was getting re-arranged, & lighting was getting fixed/installed. It was quite noisy. :-| I got my almost usual... a large SIGNATURE MILK TEA WITH CRYSTAL BOBA (I get 1/2 Crystal & 1/2 Golden Bobas at the Torrance location), & got the kids their usual, a large STRAWBERRY-LYCHEE YAKULT WITH LYCHEE JELLY (my kids concoction from their Gardena intro). Well, it's normally rainbow jelly but Ding Tea Lomita doesn't have it on their menu though it's posted in the pics by the business owner. What's up with that?! :-| I should have asked if rainbow jelly was available since it's in their pics. The drinks were made exactly as expected in taste, bobas with perfect chew (then again, crystal boba's texture is different from golden boba so it's hard to mess up), but slightly skimpy on the boba topping in mine because I ran out way before I finished my milk tea. My kids' drink was great, they said it tastes exactly like Torrance's & the drink & jellies ran out the same time. :-) Though I haven't tried it, but what's different about this Ding Tea is that they offer snack foods like popcorn chicken, chicken wings, fries, etc. I'm curious to find out if a normally boba-dedicated shop can serve up equally tasty food. It remains to be seen, or tasted in this case. Spacious dining area with plenty of light. Service is friendly & fairly quick, but boba-baristas could be more consistent with portions. When I heard that Ding Tea was opening in Lomita I have to admit my first thought was --- Why? There are already two Taiwanese tea shops a hop skip away from this location, one being Ding Tea Torrance. I have to admit I do like this location as it is where Yami Teahouse used to be and it's super spacious and really close to my folks. The parking is also much better than the other tea shops. There is a small lot and plenty of adjoining street parking. Just be aware there is no parking on the adjacent street next to Lomita magnet during school hours. I decided to come check out the Grand Opening and was fortunate enough to be one of the first 50 customers. The doors opened promptly at 12 noon and it was super organized. They were passing out small cups of Vietnamese iced coffee (not on the menu) and snacks (tater tots, egg rolls, buffalo wings, etc). I was worried the wait for my drinks would take long but I was super surprised and pleased that my 5 drink order took less than 15 minutes. Talk about efficiency! And as one of the first 50 customers I received one large drink and there is s BOGO free deal all seemed long. So my 5 drinks were less than $10! There is a lot of potential for the use of this large space and I hear they may have a kid friendly area in the store. That will be a plus. Another Ding Tea to add to the South Bay collection! I was able to make it to the grand opening day to get a BOGO free drinks. I got a signature milk tea and jasmine green milk tea with golden boba. The drink does taste very good! Definitely a lot of tea flavor and less like milk (which is what I prefer). Service is super friendly and the place is huge. Love all the seating area. I got regular sweet on the milk teas and it was actually perfect. I didn't feel the need to adjust sweetness. I hear this is a cafe so food will be served. Yes! We found tiger sugar while in Taiwan, which was our favorite boba ever. Sadly, the only location in LA is in Rolland heights and way too far. This place was one of my favorite Ding Tea Location - far better than the one on Crenshaw and Sepulveda. but lately the past three visits I was very disappointed with their boba quality and service. This location always has about 5 people working in the front. They are always talking and looks like they are fooling around. I ordered my usual - milk tea and thai milk tea. I saw the worker spill some of my milk tea on the ground as they were transferring it to the sealing machine, instead of refilling the drink the worker put more ice into the cup to make the cup full. I asked about the situation when I got my drink and she just apologized and moved on (it was a really busy day). The second time I got my drinks here they messed up my large order and gave me a small drink. Instead of remaking the drink, they sliced opened the small drink, poured it into the large cup and then added in some black tea to fill it up. and that was it. I asked for them to make a new drink because that's jsut all proportionally wrong, and only because I asked them to remake it- the worker tossed out the drink and started a new one. If I wasn't watching them prepare my drink, I wouldn't have known. The poor quality of service and the drinks from the workers made me not want to stop by this location anymore and try out another place. Spending over $30 for poor service the past three visits really makes me not want to visit this place anymore. read more

I tried out a few of their boba drinks as well as their chicken sandwich, popcorn chicken, and chicken tenders. My favorite was the popcorn chicken which had a delicious buttery and garlic flavor! They actually also offer other things like spaghetti, fried rice, bowls, etc! I found the chicken sandwich to be a bit bitter, however. So I know they are consistent for sure. Their boba was soft and chewy and tasted fresh. For sure this place doesn't let their boba just sit and harden up. They were also fast. I love this location cause everyone is so nice and the drinks are pretty good. I often get the Alfredo pasta, but whoever makes the pasta on Wednesday's need to season it better. The drink I got here was fine: it felt a bit watery so I don't know if it they put in more ice but I've had better drinks before. I think perhaps they have some growing pains though, so I may have to try again. What really needs help though, is the inside. The decor could definitely use a face lift. To put it bluntly, this Ding Tea reminds me of a hospital, or a "laughter-free zone" where smiling is a punishable offence. Think stark white walls, bright white lights, and AC blasting high. It was literally and figuratively a cold space. Maybe there was some kind of bulk discount on bright white light bulbs? Yes. Perhaps that explains how all the lights are so bright. There was also lots of empty space, so the whole place just felt very cold and uninviting. I think some wall art can help, and maybe some couches to have a more "warm" space. This is a tea shop after all. They do have a lone dart board in the corner (awkwardly placed against a naked white wall), so maybe they can make that corner a "game corner" and add some additional games. In all, I think this space has potential: it has the square footage for it, so hope the owners take notice and make some changes! read more
