I had to write this because i mentioned i had TWO favorite pizza places in town and DIONS is one of them. This place always amazes me... it's almost always packed, they seem to be all over town, and remarkably they all SEEM to be run by 15 year olds. Nothing against 15 year olds but somehow all these kids make this work in a never ending shuffle of good attitudes and what must be hard work to make delicious pizza and sub sandwiches..and all in record time. You know how some people never eat their pizza crust? doesn't happen here.. it's chewy and delicious. Was there last weekend on a saturday afternoon... this place was wall to wall kids, apparently an entire soccer league... it was a madhouse..still we found a table and were eating pizza in about ten minutes and in the BEST of all possible ways i realized Dion's is exactly the type of place you take an entire soccer league to smile and eat pizza... this place has a good vibe. read more

They have several locations, however I don't see any inconsistencies with the quality and flavor of the food. It's more so the customer service. They tend to have younger staff but the woman who served me my pick up order had a terrible attitude. And closed the window on me before I finished my sentence. So, we were in Albuquerque, and we were doing a little self guided driving tour of some of the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul locations and saw a Dion's. Then another Dion's. Then another. Then another. Then another. No joke, we saw about 5 or 6 different Dion's, (I guess there are about 10 in the Albuquerque area) including their corporate offices during our drive around town. I looked them up on Yelp and found out they are a local pizza place and they have a cult following for their ranch dressing. I told my buddy I was with that we had to try it at some point during our trip, and he agreed. We were getting some Dion's for dinner! During my visit to New Mexico, I found out that my cousin had recently moved to Albuquerque, so I hit him up to see if he wanted to meet for some pizza. He mentioned that he gets Dion's about once a week, and that their "505 Pizza" was his favorite (pepperoni and green chiles). We get to the place, meet him, and we placed our order for a Medium 505, well done, 2 sides of green chile ranch dressing, and 2 Cokes. Total was right around $20.00. We took a seat (dine in is open...socially distanced tables, every other one closed off) and waited for our pizza. Here is how it was............... The 505- This pizza was legit! It was a medium/thin crust type pizza, loaded with cheese, Italian seasoning, pepperonis and green chile. It was delicious! The well done was the key. My cousin got his pizza cooked regular, and I could tell that ours looked a little bit better and more brown. I cracked open one of the green chile ranch cups and dipped my crust in it. I am NOT a big fan of ranch, but god damn it, Dion's ranch really WAS bomb! Dare I say the best ranch I have ever had? Probably. I can see why they have a cult following for their ranch. It really was delicious and goes well with the pizza and is probably fantastic on a salad or with veggies, too. Overall, it was a great visit. The workers were friendly, the pizza was legit, the ranch was bomb, and I had a good dinner catching up with my Cousin I hadn't seen in about 5 years. Let me begin my saying I have worked in a restaurant since I was 15 years old. I even worked at a fast food pizza place. I took my order and the young red haired man who took my order didn't get me my drinks. I thought fine I'll get them when the food comes out. I saw about 6 people come in after me order get their food, which was the EXACT SAME thing I ordered. I saw each of them go up get their food within ten minutes and then leave. I got two slices of cheese and two slices of pepperoni. That order took nearly 30 minutes to complete. The restaurant inside was almost completely dead. Once I had walked up and asked for the food the guy who took my order saw me, said something quick to the other guy and had him take my order over. I don't know what kind of bullshit he was trying to pull or why people were getting WHOLE PIZZAS before I even got my two simple fucking slices. Your workers are incompetent and Everytime I go over I am faced with pure stupidity, it seems like no one actually has authority over really anyone, everybody looks confused like they have no idea what's happening. I love Dion's I've been eating at these restaurants for a very long time. First time at this location. Since I moved to the northeast part of town I find it very rare these days that I get Dion's mainly because it's out of my way by a few miles. I figured after so long, it was time to get my special. My favorite pizza of them all! Due to the COVID19 pandemic they were only offering pick up. As much as I would've liked to have been inside to get the full experience I understand it's for the greater good. I pulled up to the drive thru. There were three cars ahead of me. Luckily my wait was about seven minutes give or take. I happened to look at my rear view mirror and noticed three more cars behind me so they were pretty busy. Though they were very busy the line moved at a decent pace and I retrieved my delicious Dion's Special pizza which had just about everything on it. It comes with the classic pepperoni, Italian Sausage, meatballs, ham, mushrooms, green chili, black olives, and onions. I'm not a huge fan of black olives and unfortunately have to be in the mood for onions so I asked for those to be not placed on my pizza. One bite and your hooked, that's the Dion's way! Nothing pairs better with your pizza, salad, or sub than their famous ranch! Oh I just can't get enough of it! I still need to try the other flavors like the Blue Cheese, and vinaigrette dressing. Dion's is a much loved local pizza chain, familiar to all who've spent time in New Mexico. Today, after an unfortunate experience at another restaurant, my girlfriend and I tried to recover our evening by picking up a pizza. Dion's popped into my head, the first time in a while. My girlfriend called in the order to this quaint little location on the north side of Central between San Mateo and Washington: one large (16") pizza with pepperoni and green chile. To me, comfort food. We got to the restaurant, paid, waited, got the food, then left. The pizza box was heavy, always an exciting sign. Arriving back home, I opened the box 180° and transferred the pie to the other side. (This is my secret technique for preventing all the oil from accumulating in one place.) After soaking up some additional oil off the top, we dug in The first slice disappeared down my throat. The second I savored, shaking on some crushed red pepper and munching with intent. Each slice after went down slower than the last, my body filling with melty cheese and chewy dough. Dion's is an institution, and this particular location does a fine job upholding the brand's banner. They serve subs and salads, which seems like the smart thing to do. New to this town and was told that Dion's is a local pizza shop with their homemade ranch dressing. Ordered the Tuscany gourmet pizza with half added pepperoni. The gourmet pizza comes with a thin crust and since my bf and I love thicker crust, Iris was so sweet to allow us to get the Tuscany pizza on thicker crust with no extra charge. Before I talk about the food, I want to give a shout-out to Iris because she was super helpful and patient as I asked so many questions. She was very accommodating to our order and overall had a great energy to her. The pizza was so delicious. It's flavorful and the toppings complimented each other so well. Inside of this location seemed kind of old and dingy, like it hasn't been updated in 20 years. We love the salads and subs here! Their homemade Ranch (especially the Green Chile) is the big draw and it is amazing! The salads are fresh and full of great toppings. We also love that Dion's tends to employ local youth to give them a sense of job responsibility and prepare them for the real world. They do sell pizza by the slice but it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine. They pre-make cheese pizza and then throw your toppings onto a slice and push it back through just enough to warm it. So your new toppings aren't cooked - they are just warm. If you are a veggie lover like I am, this doesn't cut it. We decided to have a Dion's night tonite. We ordered a sausage, green chili and extra cheese, plus a tossed salad with provolone cheese, my favorite add on that most people don't even know about. Unfortunately they overcooked 3/4 of the pizza but they rarely mess up and their one of my favorite pizza places. It was still very tasty and they have the best green chili, better than most Mexican restaurants. So I gave them 4 stars as opposed to 5 because they really shouldn't have let that pizza go out the door being that overcooked. But all in all they are still one of my favorite pizza places! I tried the Tuscany pizza a few weeks ago. It wasn't quite the Dion's pizza I remember. First, the artichokes were tough. After trying a few of them and spitting them all out, I took all of them off of my pizza. Second, the sauce was kind of bland. I liked the thin crust & all of the other main ingredients on the Tuscany, though. The service was kind of lame. I don't know if the kid couldn't understand my husband, but he asked my husband, "uh, what?" three times while he was ordering. I also think Dion's should scale up their order taking abilities. When you give your order now, the employee writes it on the little order pad only to read it back to you then seemingly enter the whole thing on the register just ask you again if the order is correct. As an east coaster I have yet to find the pizza perfection I crave out here. The real key to a great pie is a firm yet supple crust with a slight tang. I really like Dion's food, so "Yay! I'm a fan." I've visited many Dion's locations, and they all are clean. Best of all they have fast, friendly, happy, and smart employees. An article should be written by Dion's on how to hire such great workers to help with a new business model. Dion's contributes to non-profit organizations which includes the National Dance Institute of New Mexico (NDI-NM). The donations are good enough reasons to enjoy their food, but as if their food needs positive thoughts to go along with it because their food tastes wonderful already! The Dion's restaurants are nice and orderly. This is always important for the customers to drive into a good, free parking lot, enter into a yummy smelling establishment with spotless tables and clean restrooms. For all these reasons Dion's earns four starts. Good job! The Dion's stars would reach five, but only one is lost due to the booths being a little uncomfortable. The booths are good for skinny people, but unfit people are forced to sit at the tables because larger people cannot sit well in the booths. It would be funny to hear John Pinette or Gabriel Iglesias share an experience of trying to eat at any of the Dion's booths. I'd better not get any more "fluffy" because I will be the one sharing a crazy Dion's booth moment. Their drive-thrus are convenient for the call ahead customers. Children like to view the food being made, and I like watching the tossing of the pizza dough. Too bad I don't possess such pizza making abilities. What more can I say? I enjoy Dion's food, plus I appreciate the employees and establishments. I cannot thank Dion's enough for their donations to non-profit organizations and other positive programs that help students, so each time I check-in at a Dion's location, I will thank them for their community support. One star is for pizza only. I ordered three by the slice with cheese, pepperoni and black olives. It was dry and had very little sauce. Really chewy. Had to get extra sides of sauce (which cost $0.40 each, but at my insentience, got the cashier to give me for free, which should be free anyway, cmon, 40 cents for a dab of sauce that should've been on the pizza to begin with?) to make the pizza edible. Also the pepperoni and olives I got on the pizza were loosely placed on top of pizza, which I assume they tossed on before letting them ride through the oven. The toppings fell off as I took bites of the pizza and we're not cooked. On the other hand the sandwiches looked good. But they did charge 37 cents for an extra pickle spear, boo!!! Avoid the pizza here. Also, shame on dions for nickel and diming their customers for simple garnish/sauce that are insufficient on their sandwich and pizza in the first place then charging for them when you ask. read more

I've gone to this Dion's many times. It is very nice. The food has Dion's famous quality, for pizza, which is excellent. However, when I go here for lunch I like to have one of their salads. I would highly recommend trying any of their specialty sales. Dion's has great customer service and an overall friendly atmosphere. They keep it pretty clean and the line is relatively quick.
