Customer service here is hit or miss. A few years ago, I had a flat while at a restaurant next door and came here--everything went smoothly, so I decided to return. This time, I was quoted a price, got a printout, and was told the parts would be ordered. When I came back for installation, I'd forgotten the printout--but I still expected to pay what I was quoted. Instead, they said they didn't have the quote on file and tried to charge me way more. I kept reminding the guy of the quote and even mentioned a number I recognized, but he acted like I was lying. After I stood my ground, he offered a "discount"--but I wasn't asking for a discount, I just wanted the original price. When I got home, I noticed even that "discounted" number was higher than what I was quoted. When I brought it up to the owner, he got argumentative. I've been there before and after Thiago left. This place has potential, but I think they could improve on their overall customer service and transparency. I have witnessed at least 3 different customer-staff arguments during my visits there. I have also witnessed their subtle attempts to upsell. Sometimes their work has made a difference, but other times, I've had another mechanic say I have a faulty xyz right after getting it done by the same Discount Auto! I was visiting my daughter and rode with her to get an oil change. She usually gets gas right there and she noticed this place and decided to get her oil change there. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted and assisted. The oil change was around $76. We decided to wait. It took about 30-45 mins. After the service, she was told her brakes were really bad and needed replacing as well as the rotors. She decided to go back the following day to get: front brakes pad and rotors, rear brake pads and rotors, disc brake caliper and serpentine belt. The total was $1,137.21 and they offer a 90-day to pay through Snap so my daughter took advantage of that. Everyone we encountered was nice and friendly. I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding a service I financed through Snap Finance at Discount Auto located in Laurel, Maryland. I financed a set of tires and an alignment at this business. The alignment was not performed on the same day due to time constraints, and I was told I could return for the service later. I recently attempted to do so, only to be told by current management that: There is no record of the alignment being owed, They refuse to honor the service, despite the original charge, And I was accused of attempting to get something for free, which is false. I provided my name and information, and asked that the matter be escalated to the owner. I was then told the owner is "out of the country" and could not be contacted. I requested a copy of my receipt and was told one would be emailed, but the situation remains unresolved. I also have a recorded transcript of the phone call confirming their refusal to provide the paid-for service. This business is engaging in dishonest practices by: Charging for services not rendered, Failing to properly document services and policies, And refusing to rectify the situation or provide transparency. I ask that Snap Finance investigate this merchant's practices and assist in either: Ensuring the alignment service is honored, OR Issuing a partial refund or account credit for the unfulfilled alignment service. Quoted $160 for 1 tire. I have a brz with aftermarket rims that are alil wider but dam $160 for 1 tire didnt make sense to me, max is 80-100 for mine. So I went with the $20 plug and was in and out in 15mins or so. For $160 I can get performance grade tires. Customer wasn't bad doe thankfully. Hopefully the plug last for awhile read more

My newish Tesla failed for tint being 5% too dark in another location. I didn't have time to get it fixed within the 30 days and everyone else was booked, so I chose this place since they had an immediate spot. They failed me for lower control arm bushing being worn out and quoted me $1000. Took the car to Tesla. Nothing is wrong with them. There is no recourse in the state of Maryland for business that scam you to get things fixed. They told me to go "talk to a state trooper then." Inspections should be with a business that's not incentivized to fail a car. Jimmy is a scam artist. Do not go here for inspections. read more

LIES LIES LIES I should've learned my lesson after they quoted me ~$2K for repairs in order to pass MD inspection. I went to another shop and the only thing I needed to do was remove my tints and my car passed. I gave them another try today to have my brakes changed since the price was reasonable. They then found 3 additional issues with my car which I agreed to have them fix (I should've gotten a second opinion but I was in a rush). 6 hours later I'm still here waiting on my car to be finished. I've seen the mechanic that was working on my car, stop working on my car and diagnose/repair other vehicles so customers that came way after me left much sooner. Everytime I (and many other people waiting) asked how much longer, I was told 30min. It was all a lie. They should change their name to '30 Minutes ' because that's all they lie and tell people so they can hold onto their car as long as possible, knowing they don't have the capacity or desire to do repairs efficiently. When I confronted them about the wait after like the 5th hour, he said they were waiting on a part. This was also a lie. The part in reference was sitting on my engine with the hood open for at least two hours before they even begun working on it. I visited discount auto on March 9 2023 for a wheel alignment. I was then told I needed a new control arm and tired rod on the left side. Mind you I just had the car inspected and all was well on the left side. There attempt to up sale on something I didn't need for the price of $2000 if I applied for the credit card. Long story short I drove down the road and got the wheel alignment done. They refuse to refund my money so I'm currently fighting the charges thru my credit card company. If I could give ZERO as a star I would! Totally ANNOYED! Came in here yesterday for a SIMPLE headlight replacement. Long story short I ran around yesterday going to several places including the Toyota dealership to purchase the correct bulb and connector. WHY? Because these folks didn't have the inventory. I was then told to come back at 9am the next day (Sunday). I arrived at 9:30 only to be told that there were no mechanics here at this time. If that is the case then why was I told to come so early. Then after I walked over to McDonald's to get breakfast, the one mechanic who finally showed up tells me to come back tomorrow because the mechanics (I thought he was one since I saw him under some other car's hood) had locked up the tools. I explained I am NOT coming back tomorrow, to get the work done. I told him to get on the phone and call whomever and get the key to unlock whatever or break it open. I don't care but figure it out. I found this experience to be totally unprofessional and once I get this service completed (the alleged mechanic just pulled my car into the bay) I will NEVER EVER return and I plan to warn all of my various affiliated organizations, family and friends to NEVER EVER patronize these folks. I was informed that my vehicle didn't pass inspection because the lower control arms needed to be replaced and when I told them that I would take it to my mechanic to repair, they told me that they would charge me the inspection fee again because I didn't want them to do the work. I took my vehicle to my mechanic and the lower control arms were in good conditions. I still had them replaced and took the parts to show them that their inspection is inaccurate. They had nothing to say once I showed them the parts that in fact were in good condition. 0 out of 10 would never recommend! read more

I don't know, maybe the place is good and is just my bad luck. But I tried 3 times at this shop, and they messed it up all 3 times. First, I was referred to them for tire change for a better rate, the rate was indeed good. After I changed all 4 tires, I noticed the car was vibrating when driving at speed. I returned and they admitted it needed alignment, why was it done right away properly?! I returned the second time as it was getting cold outside, I noticed my AC wasn't heating. After a whole day at the shop, I was told by the owner it's a 10h work just to remove the whole dashboard to investigate what's wrong. I searched online and putting together all the symptoms I returned and told them it's an easy fix just check the coolant. I was told it's impossible because the mechanic knows better, I insisted and long story short it was low on coolant. After the coolant was refilled the heating in the car worked fine. I return the 3rd time only because it's close to my house and I can walk back if I need to leave the vehicle. A note appeared on my screen saying to change timing belt, I left it at the shop for a supposedly 2-hour work at 830am and no one called so I went to pick it up at 5pm. Once I sat in the car the check engine light appeared on the screen and engine was making a strange noise like it was about to take off. I had to leave the car at the shop as I wasn't comfortable driving like that. Long story short they miss diagnosed the unproper timing belt installation, ordered more parts that had nothing to do with the issue they caused related to the belt installation. The car stayed 3 more days at the shop during which I had to rent to be able to commute to work and on top of that I had to pay for the parts that weren't needed. They did admit the belt wasn't installed properly. Needless to say, I won't try my luck at this place ever again. read more

It all started when I went to get tires. I usually order them from online but said hey, let me give this local place a shot. Mind you I can't days before I check my brakes and I get my wheels off no Lugnuts were stripped. Two weeks after they change my tires, I can't get my bolts off because they missed threaded my studs. When I called about the inconvenience they tried to blame me for it but eventually after persistent they agreed to fix the studs that were broken. While doing the work, they discovered that is a new control arm and a bearing was bad, which I was appreciative for what the cost is through the roof. I did the repairs myself and came back and asked how much it would cost to press a bearing and they quoted me for over $300, which was ridiculous because everywhere else quoted me for less but they told me that the job would take three hours. I went to a sharp pain a decent amount but it's a team 20 minutes to do it. They are over priced their shysters and they're trying to get over the many people as they can. One of their employees cut me off in traffic almost causing an accident. After I honked at him he followed me for over a mile, running through three stop signs, into a parking garage and got out of his truck with something in his hand (maybe a wrench, gun?) threatening to kill me. I never got out of the car and he eventually left. My car recorded the entire incident (360 degree cameras (front, sides, and rear). I went back to the tire shop to tell his boss what happened and was further threatened by 4-5 employees in the parking lot challenging me to a fight. I left without even getting out of my car because they were clearly planning to assault me. All on video as well. I just provided the video to PG County police along with a formal complaint. So just be aware they may try to assault, stalk and harass, or maybe kill you if you use their business.
