I thought the food selections and flavors of everything was pretty good, but absolutely not worth the price. I'm not sure if they use organic ingredients or whatnot, but I filled a small plastic container with foods that weren't that heavy and the total cost came out $23! For a meal the size of my hand. And my co-workers large plate was $40! The price itself does not entice me at all to return to this place - there are many other hot bars across the city for a fraction of the price.

Dishes at 6 East 45 Street is great for controlling my portion size for lunch. It's not far from Bryant Park and the Public Library. I can eat as much as I like when they have a buffet. I like to take my food to go sometimes. There's lots of public seating in the park where I can relax and eat. It's another neighborhood I enjoy taking the long walk to from Upper East Side. I eat small portions so my meal usually isn't expensive. I get a little of this and a little of that. The pastries are really good and I like the coffee too. It can get costly if you're hungry. I have always had a pleasant customer service experience at Dishes. I'm recommending you visit this location when you're in the area and you don't want a traditional restaurant experience. I go early to avoid the peak mealtimes. During lunch hour it's very crowded.

Ordered takeaway from the Grand central Location. There was a used bandaid in my food. Unfortunately I was on the train home when I discovered this. Sanitary practices are clearly not monitored. Would have loved to communicate directly with them but the phone #'s are out of service and the contact me on the website it broken..

Hello Friends, I stopped into this place called DISHES. The service was like a assembly line. However the Turkey avocado was excellent!!!! In a nutshell order food pay and go! The eating area was super hot!!! No really the temperature was in the 80's Food great B-

Decent grab 'n go spot in Grand Central. Service was very friendly. I was in a hurry and this place was plenty quick. Decent quality of food. Bought in the evening and ate for lunch the next day. The only complaint I have is that I felt like the Greek salad didn't come with enough dressing, but that might just be a personal preference.

2.5 stars for service, 5 stars for food We did a big group order for our office lunch. It was delivered 30-40min late and all the orders arrived in two big bags with NO labels. It was basically impossible to figure out what each wrapped sandwich/plate was, so everything had to be opened (slightly unsanitary) and still guesswork had to be done to decide which dish was what. However, my salad happened to be easy to discern and although I had to switch out my dressing last min bc they didn't have the one I previously ordered in stock, the lemon juice worked perfectly and the rest of the ingredients were absolutely delicious. The salad was EXTREMELY well mixed which is always a plus. I'm sure eating from here on your own is perfectly fine, but watch out for when you're making big orders from here

Very gourmet quality, nothing you can get around here. But prices are definitely an arm and a leg. I tried to be stingy with my wallet, but I always seem to leave the place with a $8 meal and still not be full. I only come here when I want a little splurge. The buffet selection is huge, and all are quality food. Fridays are known to us as Sushi and Fried Chicken Fridays. Sushi is a big hit, and they usually go really quickly. They do stock it rather quickly. Overall it's great, but I can't afford such an expensive lunch.

Went here for lunch and was dissapointed at the limited protein options. Compared to other food halls in the area, this one was subpar. The prices itself was very overpriced for the portion. But I found they didn't have a lot of fish options, just plain old tilapia. I'm not sure if they have different menus for everyday but I went on a Monday and the options there sucked. The eggplant lasagna was actually pretty good but it might be because I got it when it was freshly brought it. I want to try it on another day but I'm not motivated because of that first experience. We will see.

Good for a quick grab for lunch. Buffet pick out style is $12.50/lb. It's fresh and pretty decent the food.

Came here to get a quick snack but ended up ordering a hefty salad. It was a weird set up that I'm not used to seeing. There's a line that snaked around the entire place, but it moved pretty quick. They had a ton of different foods here, but I went to the salad bar and ordered a salad. Adding all the ingredients made it pretty expensive at the end, but I would order it again.

as if choosing the cream-based soup wasn't bad enough for my health, I find this metal spiral in my pumpkin bisque! thanks, dishes!

As we had our cocktails we discussed going somewhere else as the vibe was flat. But my husband convinced me to stay as it's already 8:30. We head upstairs to our table, only to be greeted by another less enthusiastic server. He never told us his name or offered up any menu highlights. I was excited to have bone marrow and escargot. Both failed epically. The bone marrow was inedible as it was like cold custard. Escargot had zero flavor and a real lack of garlic and good butter. Tasted more like vegetable oil than good butter. We shared the lobster pasta entree. Tasted more like Mexican goulash. No Italian flavors to be found in the sauce. Never once did the nameless waiter stop and inquire about our meal. Just all around a poor experience and a disappointing Friday night. There are far better places that appreciate your patronage. We will not be coming back. Not worth it.

The host came across as indifferent / borderline rude, which set the tone from the start. During dinner, when our second round of drinks arrived, the server seemed unsure where they belonged~even though the original glasses were still clearly on the table. The food itself was fine. The standout dish was the lamb tartare, which was excellent, and to be fair, everyone's meat was cooked exactly as requested. Overall, it was an okay meal, but based on our experience, it didn't quite match the level of praise suggested by the reviews.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

The bartender knew the drinks inside and out and was able to make some good recommendations. We had the Profunda and two of us had the Imprimatura. Creative, thoughtful, balanced! We also ordered spiced nuts and half a dozen oysters, which were fresh and tender. The bar area was modern and lovely so we were almost reluctant to depart when our table was ready! However, that reluctance dissipated when we entered the bright and airy dining room. It felt like we were eating in a very upscale greenhouse! Great natural light made for a relaxing atmosphere. We opted for the 3-course menu as we had plans to tour the museum afterwards and couldn't fathom doing so after the 8-course tasting menu! We also did the add-on wine pairing. Initially, we were going to order a bottle of wine but the wine list is 150 pages long, and why tie yourself to one varietal? Before the meal even began, we enjoyed 2 amuse bouche offerings; a fish confection and jamon serrano on crackers We started with the eggs on eggs on eggs - completely worth the supplement; unctuous, umamai, decadent. A symphony of flavors and textures. Since there were 3 of us, the server thoughtfully brought out 3 toasts so we could easily share. Before the "real" food started arriving, we were also brought a marble loaf and light, airy butter. Two of us started with the chilled lobster starter; one had the white bean cappelletti. The white beans were the standout! The garlic flavor was a beautiful compliment to the meaty morels without being overpowering, and we were very glad for the marble loaf to soak up the sauce! While the lobster was super fresh and the dish executed perfectly, the lemon was a tad overpowering. The bartender highly recommended the chicken; however, two of us opted for the sea trout and one had the pork. I didn't sample the pork, but the sea trout was velvety and rich, with a beautifully scented saffron broth. To finish, we had the dark chocolate cremeux (complex, adult, DANGEROUS!), the yuzu gelato (fresh and tart!) and the deconstructed carrot cake (cozy and familiar). A note about the wine - Isabelle the sommelier was a true standout! She chose some unusual pairings that worked perfectly with our meals and explained in good detail about each wine and why she selected it. In addition to having a perfect pairing, we also got some good educational enrichment. Isabelle is clearly passionate about wine and her selections and service really added to the meal. The Modern was a true treat!

The service is consistently excellent. It's one of those restaurants where you feel very well taken care of from start to finish, and the space itself has a lively, polished energy that makes every visit feel like an occasion. The food, for me, is a bit more mixed. There are a few standout touches I really enjoy, especially the butter service and the bagel service, which always feel fun and well done. The French onion soup was memorable the first time I had it, though I've since had an even better version elsewhere that raised the bar for me. Some dishes land better than others. The Caesar salad is fine but not particularly memorable, the pasta dishes are generally okay, and I didn't love the artichoke dish, which felt a bit tough and underwhelming. The mac and cheese also didn't quite hit for me and felt a bit heavy without much payoff. That said, I can absolutely see the appeal of this restaurant--especially the experience, the atmosphere, and the service. My friend particularly loves the fries, which seem to be a consistent favorite. For me, it's a place I enjoy when I'm invited and treated, especially for those little signature touches like the butter service. It feels very indulgent and fun, even if not every dish is a standout.
