Have been here a few times and have enjoyed the food and brew. Have had the pizza, Greek salad, and burger. It can get crowded but people are friendly and share their tables with you. You can also sit outside. I wish I could remember the names of the beers I had, but I go for fruity and they had one or two fruity beers. There is live music which I enjoyed. We were at Distant between summer and ski season and its clear a lot of locals come here. If one doesn't want to stay for a brew one can buy it in cans. read more

***Updating my review because of the managers rude responses on both of my reviews. Which yes I reviewed on multiple sites so people can make an educated decision before giving an establishment money. Rude staff, rude owner. Apparently this place has a 5 sample policy and then they offer a flight. Fine. But I had 2 samples which I didn't even finish because I didn't want a flight I wanted a full sized beer. Again standard at every brewery I've visited and worked. He also edited his response, to an even more snarky response- very flipping unprofessional. So I conveniently pasted it here for your review. Response from the owner We allow all the free tastes you want, but our policy to ask if you'd like a flight on the 5th sample. First time here in Mammoth and this was our first stop in town and decided to stop here to try the great beer selection and lunch. Based on the reviews I expected more. I asked to try 2 IPA tastes and my husband 3 because he is a bit more picky- the bartender abruptly and incredibly rudely said "you guys just want to do a flight." Suggesting that apparently trying beer at this particular brewery is frowned upon? Or maybe he was constipated and felt like being unkind- but it was really a rude welcome and we passed on lunch. And honestly an odd suggestion considering my husband and I have vastly different beer tastes and were apparent with which beer we were tasting. The NZ IPA was really delicious which is rather disappointing how off put we were literally being in the building for all but 5 minutes- we couldn't wait to leave to find food elsewhere. He ain't poo pooing on our wedding anniversary vacation or time in Mammoth. Word of advice, if you love your job and craft beer, educating your customers and letting them find something that suits them is sort of easy to do and also requires absolutely no effort. Such a cool spot and nice to explore another brewery in Mammoth! Don't skip out on visiting even though it is a drive from the village! Ambiance: Fun laid-back atmosphere with music that definitely made us ask for the playlist. There are sofas, casual lounge chairs, and high top tables both inside and out to enjoy. Distant Brewing is hands down the BEST brewery in Mammoth and for miles before and beyond. Every beer is delicious and tastes like there is a rhyme & reason to why it's brewed. The quality of the ingredients they use in their beer and food truly shows. Everyone that works there has a smile on their face and gives exceptional service. I've had the chance to meet the owners and brewers and they were extremely welcoming and made me feel at home in such a beautiful space. I love that they offer pool and live music! And one of the best parts is that they named a crisp, hoppy, west coast ipa after the head brewers fluffy little dog that roams around the brewery, Mister Nelson. Thank god. A mammoth based brewery that makes hazy ipas! They also had a solid variety of ipas, stouts, sours and Pilsners/lagers. I noticed they have a variety of nonalcoholic beer as well. There's something for everyone here! I tried the foreign something or other ipa and the sky high ipa. Both were hazy, had a nice mouthfeel and a solid 6.4-6.8%abv. After the mediocre beer selection on the mountain, I was relieved to try a tasty ipa and snag some pizza. They have a selection of games, a stage for live music and a pool table in the back. The beer was good lots of West Coast IPA options and the food was EXCELLENT! The service was fairly quick as we went on a Friday around 4:30pm before dinner rush, and food delivery was also fairly quick. We ordered at front got a number and sat down. The beer tender questioned my friend on her weight as she lost weight and had a higher weight in her ID. That was awk.. maybe they get a lot of fake IDs? Very popular place. It packed with patron standing enjoying cool beer after a full day of shredding snow up the mountain. Order sea to summit blonde ale and basic batch cream ale. The basic batch is smooth with full coffee flavor. The hostess and server are friendly and always with a smile. They are working hard in a crowded night like this Friday. There a pool table in the back, a couple couches in the side. Majority of people just standing around the bar and enjoy the hop with some kind of appetizers. We did order the chicken skewers which are soft and tasty, and nachos which are plentiful. There is no live music tonight but the ambience is noisy and upbeat. My favorite post skiing / hiking spot in Mammoth. The beers are exceptional. The food is great and everything is well priced. The staff are laid back and cool. On our way to Tahoe, I googled breweries in Mammoth and found this one that had 4.5 stars. Well that in itself was a lure. Only 6 minutes off 395, here we go. Up to the bar area, the gal was real sweet. Gave some tasters and recommended one of her own after the ciders were a no go for me. "Basic Batch", cream ale with black velvet coffee and hazelnut was bursting with flavor. My husband enjoyed the "Sea to Summit", blonde ale. We ordered the French dip and Meatball sandwiches. The sandwiches were just okay. The French dip was nearly free of fat but a bit bland, needing some grilled onions and more cheese. The Meatball was better but could also use more Italian seasoning and cheese. However, the french roll tasted pleasantly fresh baked. Both came with a random bag of Kettle chips. Dogs are welcome inside with lots of seating. Nice little venture but probably won't come back, at least with no special effort. read more
