I like divey breakfast diners so I had some hope for our visit to the Dixie House Cafe. We came with a group - apparently the company that ran our concealed handgun class brings every class to lunch here. I was disappointed in the service. We arrived way before the mass numbers of our group but in the hour and a half that I was there, my coffee never showed up. The menu was pretty standard diner fare. I opted for an omelette that came with hash browns. It wasn't terrible but there was nothing great about it and the hash browns were sort of cold. They asked if we wanted a bread basket of rolls and cornbread. We said yes, because duh, bread. It wasn't until halfway through eating our meal that a basket with one lone roll was delivered to our table. I would make concessions for the fact that there was a large group, but we beat the majority of the group by about 30 minutes. Also, the company brings a similarly sized group of people to this cafe every Saturday so you'd think they would be ready. Ultimately, I didn't love it and think there are better breakfast options out there. Especially since their prices seemed on par with an IHOP rather than a little diner. read more

We went into Dixie's originally just to have a piece of pie. We had heard they were pretty good. Atmosphere is reminiscent of 60s style diner, and has a very small hometown feel to it. Staff was friendly and efficient. We ended up having the chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak dinner plates. The food was delivered quickly and everything was hot and fresh and homemade. My only complaint is that they are slightly overpriced for homestyle food, i.e something I could make at home. That being said the slightly overpriced food was well worth it's weight in pie!! My husband and I and our 1 year old daughter stopped after church to have lunch. We were seated and given water. We then waited for someone to take our order. Waitresses made eye contact with us but continued to take others orders after being seated after us. After we fed our daughter food we brought for her, we got up and left. Awful service!! This was our first time stopping, as it was close to our church. We won't be returning! Also, didn't appear to be all that clean. Everything at the table was sticky. I was glad I had hand sanitizer with me. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want service. Perhaps the food is fantastic. But we wouldn't know since nobody returned to our table. read more

Same owners, and according to the reviews over there, it's just like my favorite on E. Lancaster! As an added bonus, this location is not far from Lee Oswald's grave. I am a raving fan!!!! Each time I visit TX this is another location that I enjoy. I remember when they only had one location and the owner opened up a new one for each of his daughters as a gift to them. They have great food and great service. They make sure that everyone is customer service focused by not allowing the staff to accept tips, what they do is share all tips received for the day with the staff which is great. The chicken fried steak is home made and great, mash potatoes are real and it can be pricey if you add any additional sides other than the two it comes with. But for the portion you recieve you should be fine. This is a down south homestyle place that you will enjoy. First off, any "Cafe" that doesn't have Fried Chicken or a good Steak on the menu is suspect right off the bat. I had their Chicken Fried Steak & it was ok at best. We ate lunch here today, and every bit of the food was DE-lish! I had the meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, and green beans, and D had the chicken fried steak. The rolls and cornbread were also really good. We thought we were too stuffed for dessert, so we got a piece of chocolate pie with the intention of eating a bite and taking the rest home. But we ended up eating all of it--it was too good. I'm a big fan of taking leftovers home for an extra meal, and I could have here, but I just engorged myself, as did D. It has been a long time since I have made it to Dixie House Cafe. I used to come here all the time to try as many things on the as I could for breakfast. I ended up having the Dixie House omelette. I substituted onions for jalapenos because I'm about that spice game. It came with hashbrowns on the side. I was very hungry after driving around to three different places looking for breakfast. The first place I went to was closed on Mondays. the second place I went to call Main Street Cafe appear to be closed down. The Waitresses here were very nice and very accommodating. More than one waitress stop by my table to make sure I have been taken care of. Vee waitress actually caution me from ordering too much food, because something you should never do is go to the grocery store or order on a super empty stomach. Your eyes will be bigger than your stomach. I was going to order two extra breakfast tacos to add to my meal. By the time I finish my meal along with the two slices of grilled wheat toast I was satisfied period along with a half cup of water, I had no more room for anything else. I ordered a cake for my Freind/Co-workers BD. When we cut into the cake it was RAW !! I called & told them it was raw & only wanted it replaced. I was treated like I was some sort of criminal, trying to get something for nothing. 2 days later, still no cake or no refund. I feel really bad that my friend did not get her cake in her BD. I've been a regular customer at the E. Lancaster Dixie House for years. About a month ago, I even recommended Dixie House on a Facebook page. Food and service had always been great there until recently. There is one server (Angela) that on 2 occasions several weeks apart was so incredibly rude that, on the last visit, we paid for our drinks and left. (Paid $5 and some change for 2 beverages we didn't even drink!) At the register, we told the manager on duty about the the server's horrible attitude. Instead of apologizing, the manager quietly sided with the server and took our money for the drinks. We stressed that the reason we were leaving was the server's hateful attitude, but the manager either didn't have a problem with it or was afraid of Angela. Well, I will never deal with Angela again. Every other server I've had there is great! The food is always good. But, it's just not worth being treated like that and having Dixie House management condone it. Standard home cooked foods that served breakfast in the morning. I believed Dixie House Café is the only breakfast place in the area (820/30 highway). I ordered the Chicken fried chicken with mac and cheese and mash potatoes. Their standard breakfast plate (one pancake, bacon or sausage, hash, two eggs and toast or biscuit. Chicken fried chicken crust was pretty well seasoned, but the coat didn't stick to the chicken. The outer crust fell apart every time to cut into the chicken, the chicken was very bland. All the sides were standard. Breakfast plate are standard like other breakfast place. This place is very home style with local people in the neighborhood eating there. read more

The customer service was not good I called in a to go order. I order the combo special and a strawberry banana cake. $13.75 total first the line was long but that was fine. The issue was they was allowing others to skip me while I was waiting to pay for my food. She took someone else order to go and payment. Then had a nerve to do it again paying for someone else order.... mind u I had my card in hand waiting to pay twice while I was first in line at that point. The pancake and bacon was the only thing that actually has taste. The cake was not sweet! I love the loaded breakfast tacos here, I get corn instead of flour, the homemade salsa is delicious. Also I like thier grilled chicken wraps, the fries are hand cut daily so you get em fresh. All around good home cooked food, grilled items and burgers take 15 minutes, I'm not complaining about freshness at all. If you want a good pie with a lot of whipped cream, then this is your place. Otherwise I personally did not enjoy the food. I ordered a club sandwich and was disappointed that it had American cheese on it and deli meat that tasted like it came out of a package at the grocery store. It was slimy. Plus, I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that when I asked for mayonnaise they brought me miracle whip, and that's a dealbreaker for me. The pies are excellent though. read more

On 9/14/12 myself and 7 of my co-workers visited Dixie House on Lancaster in Fort Worth. We arrived to the restaurant at 11:40. Two of my co-workers ordered sandwiches, one a burger, myself; I ordered and appetizer of potato skins and the rest ordered the special of the day. We informed the waitress that we were on our lunch hour and in a bit of a rush. Twelve o'clock rolls up and we are watching people who where sat after us be served so we inquire about our food and are told that it will be out shortly. At 12:10 the specials of the day arrive. We inquire about the rest of the food and are again told it will be out shortly. The sandwiches arrive a few minutes later with cold fries. Next the burger arrives but we need to leave in 5 minutes so it goes straight into a to go box. The potato skins finally arrive, only after inquiring about them and with the cheese half melted as if they pulled them from the oven early, but it's time to leave so they go straight into the to go box. I also asked for sour cream and ranch but received mayo and ranch. When I got back to work, I was finally able to eat after having to reheat my food. By the way, my appetizer and a drink was over $12.00 and the specials where over $15.00. When we expressed our displeasure to the head waitress, she argued with us and stated that if we were in a hurry then we should not have ordered grilled food but instead the special of the day because they are PRE-MADE! Confused, we asked what was so time consuming about ordering appetizers and sandwiches. Not able to give a logical answer, the waitress stormed off saying that she didn't have time to deal with us. While waiting in a very long, slow line to pay, the same waitress shot us nasty looks each time she passed by. Upon expressing our displeasure to the manager, she has the audacity to tell us not to come back, like we would anyway. At a minimum, she should have apologized for the poor service once she was first informed that we were upset. She was apparently too busy spending 30 to 45 minutes "getting our food together". This is the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant and needless to say, will never return. I've been to the Dixie House on Blue Mound road during lunch rush and with several others and received excellent service and my food in a timely, correct manner. I'm not sure what the problem is with the Dixie House on Lancaster but I can tell you it starts with their unprofessional and rude management and wait staff. This Dixie House location in Fort Worth off 820 is not like the others. We visit this one 1-2 times monthly and after the meal yesterday- Saturday June 2016 we will not return. This is why- not to point fingers but We tried to bring this to the Manager's attention and she replied without taking this valuable opportunity to inquire as to what, when, how, why was this visit food, service and experience unacceptable. She defended herself instead. This location has declined it appears in quality service and food quality even most recently and they seem to be oblivious to it. Even when given the chance they do not have a genuine interest in improvement or just quality customer service any longer. Sad really because this attitude usually begins at the top of the company and these employees are only emulating what is acceptable at that top level. We suggest taking your hard earned money and your precious time to another Diner in DFW- there are so very many great ones and this location does not really have a care if we visit as customers or not- and afterall, we are all here to make the world a better place, right? Some other Diners that we love are 'The Diner' and even 'Norma's'.
